That was a great explanation of how to wire up a dual battery system. You only get what you pay for is right. That kickass system is great and the fridge's are better. Till next week safe travels
Thank you. We would love to get the whole kit and kaboodle, have heard great reviews about the fridge. Its on the list marked as "one day" lol. Thanks for watching
Hey mate I'm not too familiar with dual battery and 12v it goes over my head. I just wanted to know if this kind of set-up is OK for just fridge and camp lights and possible solar blanket ?
Thanks for watching. To be honest, I did this so long ago I can't remember where I connected mine but you can connect it if you have the heated seat option.
Hey there and thanks for your question. To be completely honest I quite remember but from memory it was to the heated seat fuse. Appreciate you watching
Jon said to let you know he didn't actually drill anything. He used a stiff lead wire to stick through between the plastic tub liner and the Ute itself, located up near the window but from inside the Ute on the left hand side. Thanks for watching 👀
Hey mate, If I'm piggy backing off an existing fuse eg: wipers or heated seats, what amp fuse do I need put in the empty slot above the existing fuse in the piggy back adapter for the dc-dc Cheers
Any updates mate how's it going a year in ...have you added solar ... pros and cons for your set up I'd like to know before I look into it... like the idea that you can unplug everything and take it on a boat
Hi there. Yes we have added Solar and we have had no problems so far. So pros are the added solar and the phone app so I can see how charged the lithium battery is. Dont really have any cons, pretty happy with the whole set up
Hi there, enjoy the vid, thanks for making. I just bought one of these for my Ranger. Which fuse did you piggyback off for the ignition? And why did you choose to run the negative from the car and not the negative terminal? T
Hey there. No I didn't need to make a notch in the lid, I just ran it with the wiring harness it came with. From memory I piggybacked off the heated seat fuse. Thanks for watching 👀
@@onlyleavingfootprints great video. I have done mine but always admire other people's handy work. Pressure was on with the better half helping out too!
Both. I cant really remember as its nearly 2 years since I bought it but it came from Kickass. Unsure whether it was with the power box or separate. Thanks for watching
Hi there, enjoy the vid, thanks for making. I just bought one of these for my Ranger. Which fuse did you piggyback off for the ignition? And why did you choose to run the negative from the car and not the negative terminal?
Hey there , from memory it was the heated seats fuse. As for running the negative, that was just a personal preference to do it this way. Thank you for watching
The negative of the battery is at equal continuity as the chassis so no difference but as a beginners install should go to the battery ...most people that bolt to the chassis get a poor reading because they don't bare back to bare metal surface for the lug to bond
not a good example mate , your wire underneath is expose to the elements and you should have insulated and used the conduit to cover the wire ,especially when your offroading which you can hit a rocks ,stone and other unwanted stuff that can damaged to the wire
Thank you for watching and your comment. As you would have heard in the video I asked for comments on whether to use some conduit over the wires or not but then I followed on by saying that " I think I will do it". And in fact this was done, the wires were insulated just a few days after the video went to air.
I just love couple making videos together and having good time.
Thanks for watching
thanks or the video. this will help so much when I'm installing my KICKASS battery today!
Glad it helped. Hope it went well for you today. Thanks for watching

Hey mate I'm not too familiar with dual battery and 12v it goes over my head. I just wanted to know if this kind of set-up is OK for just fridge and camp lights and possible solar blanket ?
Hey there, this set up would work perfectly for that stuff.
Good job.
Thank you
Hi mate
I am just curious where did you connect the other end of the blue wire?
Thanks mate good video very helpful.
Thanks for watching. To be honest, I did this so long ago I can't remember where I connected mine but you can connect it if you have the heated seat option.
Hey mate, which fuse did you wire the ignition source cable into? Looks like we have the same car
Awesome instructions thanks

Hi, just watched your video, hubby would like to know how you got the wiring into the tub, where did you drill to get inside it. Thank you.

Hi Mate, from memory I think I used a 10 amp fuse, it doesnt have to be to big. Thanks for watching
Nice set up, If i may ask, how did you secure the battery box to the tub ? Thanks for the video..
Hi Chook, I just drilled and bolted it straight go the floor. Thanks for watching 👀

What was the number of the fuse you piggybacked in the engine bay?
Hi there. I dont know what the number is and my husband is out of service for awhile so cant even ask him.
Using the plastic tongue from a piece of particle board sheet flooring. 🤙

Let me check with Jon
Hey mate, thanks for the vid. What fuse did you piggyback off? And did you have to make a notch in the lid to run the wire out? Cheers

Hey there from memory it was a 10amp . Thanks for watching 👀
Look like 19. Have you done it @badnmedal9225

hey mate awesome video, did you buy the cable etc from kickass? or did it come with your power box? Thanks
Both. I cant really remember as its nearly 2 years since I bought it but it came from Kickass. Unsure whether it was with the power box or separate. Thanks for watching
Man do you reckon without the solar panels and just relying on the car battery would the kickass power box stay charged?
Mate I am no pro but unless you are going to drive your car every day or every second day then I dont believe it would@@cookiecanfly_
hi mate at7:01 what brand was your cordless heat gun ?
Hey there, thanks for watching. The heat gun is a Weller ML200
@@onlyleavingfootprints thanks for doing this video I now have confidence setting my own kickass dc to dc

Funny 😁 thanks for watching 👀
I believe that system should only charge when the truck is actually ON
It does charge when the car is on and then through the solar panel when it is off. Thanks for watching
