A 150 years of service man and i thought them having a habit of using the sane model for 50 years was bad but these guys saw the birth of mobile suits and fought every generation to minstuized models
The M2 machine gun is so old that the one assigned to you might be actually used on WW1 On the othet hand, some place like north korea and taiwan have vehicles like T-34s and WW2 submarines as second line or even reserves for frontline duties While I doubt their combat effectiveness in the late UCs, their big size, relatively fast speed and that huge generator could used as a pretty nice hospital ship or some sort of mobile construction base even after the UC 150s
Great video. You can kind of understand why the big tray didn't have many AA guns if in its heyday it was made to run in groups with mini trays and heavy forks. but oyw solo deployments certainly would require it to be more self sufficient than just the centerpiece of a land battleship combat group
It's funny to use the Big Tray in Gihren Greed where the stats says it's a Mega Particle Cannon yet it fires shells. I guess even the game is admitting the refit plan didn't go so well
1:53 I just realized that the turrets lack a means for loading shells into the guns. In real naval turrets, there’s more to them than just the visible structure. For example, the Iowa-class battleship turrets are approximately 12 meters tall above deck. However, these turrets extend downward into the hull, with the total height of the turret assembly, including the superstructure below, reaching about 24 meters. This additional structure is crucial for loading and storing ammunition, which is not depicted in the current design.
You missed that they Heavy fork also has a pair of long range missile launchers. they are the big box structures on twin catamaran hulls behind the turrets. they elevate at an angle on the Fleetmo model to fire. now that you have covered the EFF land battleships especially the Absurd SD Wars ones maybe you could do a special ep on Operation Odessa? as for more ships feel free to do more land battleships because THEY ARE COOL. would even love to see the Gundam Seed land ships as they have some really cool ones.
Yeah I noticed about the missiles batteries but after finishing editing the video (before that I believed their were an ammunition storage silos). As for other land battleships, the Dabudo is going to be covered someday, as well as the Zanscare ships
Huh. Wonder where that Cutaway image came from? Looks similar to an image I saw once of a Salamis Class. I knew that the Heavy Fork used its central bay to carry Tanks and other vehicles, but did not expect the Big Tray to also manage that.
Great video, was a bit interested in these machines. However, have the big trays ever been converted to carry mobile suits and how much? Also any idea on how many does the duel and revil tray class carry?
The Heavy Fork has been known to carry them on the deck behind the bridge, and the hangar door between tue boon bows is large enough for MS. As for the Dual Tray - since a Columbus can carry up to 24 mobile suits in just hangar space alone, I’m guessing it can carry 12-16.
Hmmm... I remember someone did a converted Big Tray diaroma thing that had the central Siege Guns replaced with a mobile suit hangar. It carried about six to eight machines depending on if you had a pair standing on the back deck of the ship.
For the Big Tray, yes they have been show carrying mobile suits during the OYW, but usually on their back (like the GM Snipers in the Big Tray seen in 8th MS team). The Queen Turtle may have been modified with hangars but AoZ Traitor to destiny doesn't describe much about her aside her being gunned down by the Keraunos. The Duel Tray would have the same storage capacity of the Colombus Late Type/Kai/Antietam-class since it has the tri block segments instead of the dual segments of the regular Colombus. The Revil is more tricky, but anonymous_on_the_net fixed it at 16 mobile suits
hey, a question about ships and stuff; what is the actual stats of the Gretty Lou from Gundam Seed Destiny? And in a hypothetical case of "who'd win," who'd win; the Gretty Lou or the General Revil? or Gretty Lou vs Nahael Argama?
I combined info from what was detailed in "Mobile Suit Gundam MSV Collection File" and "One Year War Complete History" alongside the Big Tray various depiction in the medias. While it's not property stated that the Big Tray underwent a proper refitment program, depictions with shell Siege cannons and beam Siege cannons go back and forth (some Mangas still continue using the shell cannons while the beam cannons version has existed since some time outlore), which seem to suggest it followed the Salamis and Magellan in the idea of refitment with beam weapons. Considering that OYW Complete History suggest the Big Tray was something akin to a land nuclear submarine but also that it was a landing ship concept that was overhauled, we know the Feds revised the design at some point, although we can't say how or when exactly. For the AA additions, many Japanese forums assume it's either Local modifications (which would explain the differences), either a loose refitment that wasn't much generalized. In the end, it's remain open to interpretation, but saying that a good chunk of Big Trays all received the same modifications would meet the idea of the refit
@@gundamfacts In other words, you made it up. Multiple sources have stated that the differences between the original series Big Tray and the 08th/Igloo Big Tray is because they are different variants, with no information on a refit program.

Very very long life, and not an easy one for those ships
There are still mig-21's out there. When militaries have complex equipment they tend not to waste it. This goes double if it's big.

The rear bay of the Big Tray isn’t very big, it could probably carry MS if they were sitting down.

It's the Girty Lue. Also it's a special duty ship designed to be stealthy and fast, definitely not meant for direct combat, so it loses against both.
