  • Another short video for you. This is one of my very favourite songs I have written. Originally written for my second solo album, I am proud and honoured it became a Psychotic Waltz song instead. I bring you, "My Grave".

Making one record of these acoustic versions would be phenomenal thing to do. From Psychotic Waltz and Dead Soul Tribe to The shadow theory, all on one place. That would be like a dream come true kind of record

I remember your '97 concert in Budapest where you've made magic on stage for about 3 hours. Then we went to your bus with some friends and "complained" that you didn't play this song - and you said, let's get a guitar and you play it there under the stars. :) Lovet the whole night. (Then I've met you a bit later, drove you to the progressive festival to Pécs from Budapest and helped solving the disappeared promoter situation. Now I'm living in Vienna a few hours from you and I wish I'd have a chance to record in your studio sometimes)

It was an honor to finally share stages w Psychotic Waltz n Mystic-Force in both Germany n Greece. That was an honor for me.

"My Grave" was always on my top-10 PW songs of all time, along with the next track on Bleeding CD - "Skeleton" - yes, it is much more straightforward, but very energized so-called Voivod band style sound with some cantillation\marched егcantillation. Guess it would be nice to check it out ion acoustic. You know, ghetto of my soul is a skeleton.

Truly majestic! Many thanks, Devon for yet another rewarding video. Since we're talking acoustic songs, it would be great if we could hear the story of the song "Just Like a Timepiece", and maybe even get a new live-in-the-studio version. Loved both the original and the Dead Soul Tribe version.

Bleeding, and especially the song My Grave are in a very special/weird place for me.
I have bought the album in January 2021 (because I liked A Social Grace so much). Looking at the artwork and through the booklet, it eerily felt like I had already seen it. (But I hadn't!!) Somehow familiar on a subconscious level.
When finally My Grave played, those weird feelings got amplified by 100. It was as if I had know this song since birth, deeply rooted in my ... soul, if there's something like that?
So for me, the song doesn't fit the "intended" theme of Play-at-Funeral at all. It's almost the opposite, evoking a feeling of birth. The start of something new. But there's also fear, the fear a child would feel.
One possible answer could be that somehow I had actually heard this song as a child? But I can not imagine how that would have been possible. O.O
Perhaps it somehow connects with the death theme through me having been close to drowning twice (as an infant and the second one at approx. 6 years). Who knows?
But you definitely captured magic in this song!
And as a further coincidence, Bleeding is as old as I am! (1996)
Well, that was my little story about this confusing song. ^^

Great! This is my favorite song on the album Bleeding!
It's incredible that Psycotic Waltz are playing together again and have recorded a new album. At first I was afraid - do I like the new album? What if my favorite band comes out with a new album, but it's crap? But it wasn't! The god shaped void is the best Psychotic Waltz album you guys have ever released. I can't wait to hear this masterpiece live on stage!
I have been a fan since I was 16 years old. I saw you live for the first time in Stuttgart in 1996. At that time I was 17 years old and it was one of the first concerts I ever saw. Before the concert started, I saw a guy standing at a door talking to someone else. I thought to myself, "Is that Buddy Lackey? Oh my God, it's him!" So I walked over totally intrigued and with my poor school English I didn't know the word for autograph. And so I stammered, "Hi..... um... are you Buddy Lackey?... Can you... uhh... write your name down on my jacket?" very embarrassing, but also funny and a story I always like to tell. In fact, I also told it to you in 2011 in Stuttgart at the first concert of the reunion tour. I can't imagine you remember that conversation with me, but for me it was definitely a great moment.
I will see you live next time at the RockHard Festival, or on your hopefully upcoming tour!

Simply amazing! Yours is quickly becoming one of my favourite UA-cam-channels Devon, apart from your wonderful music I really enjoy your honest and personal storytelling.
A second solo-album would have been wicked, why didn´t it come to fruition?
I´d love to hear you do "Wind song" from the Strange mind-album, the lyrics to that song always mesmerized me.

    • @devon-graves-studio-D
      @devon-graves-studio-D  2 роки тому +2

Half of the "would be" second solo album became nearly half of Bleeding. The other came out (although many still have not been heard) as Deadsoul Tribe. Deadsoul was effectively a solo project ;) I'm considering The Strange Mind of Devon Graves as a project.

Great video with a cool insight as always which is a treat that loyal fans gravitate to. I will give my request once again. The song "The regret" from Dead Soul Tribe would be perfect to a video for and certainly a special moment for ne personally. Thanx for replying Devon. Really looking forward in hearing also the insights and background info for this song such as inspiration, lyrics theme and the details that make our lives better. Keep on making these videos. I would suggest even if there is no way to make a representative acoustic version of any song, at least sharing the background story of it.....just a suggestion. I would definitely watch those.
