As a recent new home owner in the first summer season without an irrigation system, I have been fighting the awkward shapes of the lot. I’m immediately buying this sprinkler... Great video as always.
The science behind lawn care is insane and I love every bit of it. To get get a in-depth look at the chemicals and turn that into a liquid or what not to put into the grass blows my mind
Love those Gilmour sprinklers. I had 1 and bought 4 more, placed them on a 4 port timer and created my poor mans irrigation system. Because my yard is so irregular in shape those things are easily customizable and do a fantastic job.
Seen this video once before. Rewatched it again today. Had the wife watch it and showed her your sprinkler. Looks like it works pretty slick. So I ordered one. Will see how it goes. May have to order a couple more.
Did the tuna can challenge last year, once I knew what it took to get a half inch on the lawn every time I water, it greatly improved my lawn. Before I just guessed and the lawn would get stressed. Now, it gets the water it needs and it's been lush and green since then. It sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn't. All you have to do is place the tuna cans, and the sprinklers will do the rest, all that is left is checking it and adjusting. But you can easily guess how much more time you need. Happy fathers day, Allen! Spent mine mowing and admiring my lawn. Thanks for the "tips"! My knowledge has greatly improved.
Excellent teaching strategies. This will be my second year doing my yard. I’m going to be doing my soil test this week. By the way I love your videos and your store YardMastery. Each product has a video explaining how to use a product. That’s brilliant. You were the first person who popped up on UA-cam when I was first learning how take care of my lawn. I’m so happy I found your videos. You make learning fun and give us novice lawn care nuts the desire to learn and the confidence to go out there and throw it down responsibly. Thank u so much.
I grew up in Clearwater with Floratam, moved to arid Texas with Bermuda, now in Tennessee with TTTF. Each one is so VERY different, but your guide is a big help. I guess it is working--my neighbor asked for a tee time!
I’ve used that same impact sprayer -- very flexible and efficient. Other times I’ll just manually hand spray with a pistol type nozzle that varies the spray when squeezing the handle. It’s a good way to wind down the day with sprayer in one hand and beverage in the other or a good cup of joe during early morning watering. Happy Father’s Day…
I have the same exact sprinkler with basically the same issue , going up to high even after adjusting it, What I ended up doing ( it fixed the shimmying issue too from high pressure ) was I added 2 small camping stakes screwed into the back and another dead center in the other side with 2 small screws holding each. Works perfectly but that ring you lift up gets aged and cracked after awhile. Best sprinkler for my type of lawn though. Thank you for the video.
If you're having trouble finding "out of stock" on this sprinkler including at Gilmour's website try Blain's Farm & Fleet in Rice Lake, WI. I ordered on July 1st received the item July 4th FedEx. $19.99 but shipping was pricey at $12.99. They had it, shipped fast, delivery was very quick even on a holiday.
Those green Gilmour sprinklers are so great. It allows you to place the sprinkler right next to your neighbors yard and get little to no water in their yard.
Happy father’s day to you Allyn a great father and the father of You Tube lawn info/ entertainment! Thanks for giving me the gift of a video today!! Update, I wish I had watched this video before I ordered my hydretain!
Excellent video. If Costa isn't a sponsor I am no longer worried about you quitting your day job. Man you have just about every model. Shoes and Sunglasses problem Hayne. Better than my Cars and Watches problem. LOL Love your work sir. Love the lifestyle and finally love the community. Thank you again. BTW @ConnorWard is a super cool dude, I have been messaging him on IG and purchased a hat from him. He got it out in less than 12 hours. Thank you guys!!!!
I actually put down some Hydretain this morning. I bought the small hose end jug to treat my main and side stages. I used a sprinkler to water in. Hope this stuff works! I have no irrigation but would easily see me buying more if it does what it says it does. Results hours later seem to be positive. Greening up quicker than the last time I watered without it at about the same amount of water. Maybe it's my imagination.
Happy Fathers Day. Another great video. Just ordered those sprinklers as I have manually been watering by hand and it's getting frustrating lol. Thanks for all the tips.
Love the drawings. I do the same, it makes it so much easier to visualise the space too and saves you having to work everything out again a couple times a year.
The rain made its way to Indiana. It's rained all weekend, and it's forecast to rain all week. My grass is gonna be 6 feet tall by the time it's dry enough to mow. It's growing over an inch every 24 hours. I've had to diligently mow ever second day for weeks to maintain the rule of thirds. I was supposed to mow today, but it never stopped raining. I had no idea how much work is required to maintain a beautiful lawn.
Love you're content. Happy fathers day bro. I'm going to start using hydretain because irrigation costs are killer. When decreasing my watering, should I back of frequency or length of watering? Like if I currently water twice a week for 20 minutes then should I switch to once a week for 20 or twice a week for 10?
I have that same impact sprinkler, might have to get a few more for when I overseed this fall! Trying to set myself up for the best success later on this year. Good advice as always, and happy fathers day!
I recently picked up a timer that shuts the water of after a preset amount of time. That is adding a lot of convenience to this one sprinkler at a time game. You could just literally set it and forget it. Just set the timer and go after other things, come back eventually, reposition the sprinkler, set the time and leave again.
Us guys up in La Crosse WI haven't had to water at all this year. It's been a cool summer so far. I will have to see how July August and September fair. My grass is THICK and healthy and I didnt start the LCN way in July of 2018
SOS HELP! St Augustine Domination is pushing, damaging my sprinkler heads, pipes. Pushing them into sidewalk causing leaks. I follow your instructions, mow tall, milo, ect. lawn looks great.
Hey Allen just wanted to say thanks again for all the great videos been subscriber for many years. Keep up all the great videos love the cool season manual. Happy Father’s Day
This was great buddy. I’ve never considered doing any type of irrigation until recently, parts of my lawn are super heat and drought stressed that get blasted with sun all day. Just ordered one of those sprinklers and if I like it will get a second to make watering when needed during the dry season quicker. Thanks for the tips.... gotta always get the tip lol 👍
The picket all metal Gilmour impact sprinkler is preferable to this model. You can adjust the height of the stream, the diffusion and the arc(rotation) and you can link them also
Wow. The difference. My grass.. errmmm weeds are getting greener. I got two of my sprinkler zones working again this year.. the lawns are recovering well without fert or a ton of work. Some day I can find the time to really get into fixing the lawn.

Great Vid Allyn! Pretty Sad that you need to try to block out your street sign! I don't blame you as people can be crazy, i.e Nutty and show up at your house. That would NOT BE OK! Happy Fathers Day! Chad Upstate NY
That Gilmor Sprinkler is pretty nifty! Great map by the way. It's always good to have solid systems in place for many different things. Keep up the great videos!
I'm about 7 exits south of LCN and have not gotten the copious amount of rain LCN has as I'm on the coast. Did get 1" last night but that only puts me up to 2.5" in 8 days. (6.35cm) The well pump is still dry so I'm counting on the afternoon coastal showers. The surviving St. Aug has perked back up but I'm really surprised at how big some of the dead spots got when I couldn't irrigate. One of the neighbors was getting a submersible pump installed last week so I did a u-turn and got a card. Probably calling this week.
@@Thelawncarenut It's all around, but teases like a, well let's keep this clean. Interesting how some of the St. Augustine took the drought in stride but other areas, primarily the new growth, did not. Has to be related to root depth but it's not like I didn't do deep watering when I had well pressure. Going to encourage the surviving grass to fill in so it's more drought tolerant as it comes back where I don't plug it with Seville.
Love your videos Allyn. You’re the man. Thank you for such educational videos. Love this channel. Humic acid is my go-to now. Love that stuff. BioKelp Humic 0-4-6 from Simplot is like medicine for the lawn. Humic acid: Helps release nutrients in the soil - more readily available to the plant. Allan, get one of those inline ball valves and place it right at the sprinkler. Then you can shut off the water without pinching the hose. Much easier when you've got one hand busy with the camera. :-)
Great video. And I do like the pattern masters for irregular shaped lawns. But I’m surprised only 28 minutes to put out 0.5 in over 2500 sq ft - seems like a lot of water in a short time
Where can I buy your gray LCN hat? I'm beginning to feel like a lawn care nut myself. I feel happier coming home everyday when my lawn is looking healthy and great.
I’m originally from South Florida, still have a lot of family in Port St. Lucie. However, I’m now stationed at Fort Stewart in south Georgia. Any chance you have a video showing some tips to get this nasty grass looking decent? Great content by the way! Thank you for all your help!

agreed, I like to hand water too.

Saw this at Lowe's and Ace. I use a oscillating sprinkler because I want a rectangular coverage.

Totally agree. But if I was offered a free in ground sprinkler I'd accept in a heartbeat.

I have never seen a sprinkler like that. thats amazing will def order one
To me the best sprinkler ever made if you don’t have an in ground is that little tractor sprinkler that follows a hose around the yard

Those brick pavers used on your driveway and sidewalk look as good ad your grass. I would love to have that brick work.

That is the best part drinking beer then move the hose now I buy 12 then water my neighborhood lol.
Happy Father's day Al. Great job. Like a retro LCN video+

Just ordered my Gilmour sprinkler.
Allyn, you dress better to work on the lawn than I do to go to dinner, or course I only dine at places with drive-throughs. Happy Fathers Day !
That Gilmore sprinkler is "good to know". Out here in the interior west, a sprinkler system is not a luxury, it's a necessity.
