Excellent! Really enjoyed this footage, such a beautiful home and friendship thank you for sharing xox
Oh my...what fun I just had with u 2 silly girls!!!! Here we are, in uncertain times 3-26-20, & yet I had a boatload of smiles & giggles because of you & your sweet traditions & decorations from Denmark!! Thank you soooo much for reminding me, this to shall pass. We have much to be thankful for & even much more to look forward to. Much love & respect to you from St. Johns, Michigan.
I want a friend like Vibeke, you ladies are so classy! Love her home!! Thanks Diane for sharing.
Ha ha! She is a popular lady and I'm so lucky to have her as my Bestie! 😍
@@DianeinDenmark She is lucky too Diane! Merry Christmas to you both!
Ya know, it’s made me realize I need to take time and invite a friend or two over for a cup of tea! 💕🌲
What a treat! She has such a beautiful home and all of her decorations are so thoughtful. I love that she met the artist who made the ornaments. That is a special memory.
Yes, wasn't it an amazing story! Love these little precious memories 😍
I don't know why, but the first time I heard you say you'd been skinny dipping I was so shocked!
Thank you for all your videos, you're a huge inspiration and comfort on difficult days. Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos, you are truly appreciated ♥️♥️
You are so very welcome, Miss McKenna! Don't be shocked about the skinny dipping...try it sometime! 😄🖐
@@DianeinDenmark I don't think that there are many places in the US where people can swim naked without the risk of getting arrested! 😱
I wash shocked too! But E. Dennis is correct that we can't do that here.
What a gift to see Vibeke’s home and decorations! I love the simplicity and beauty of them....so much more beautiful than all the over done decor we see here in the states! Love what is simply elegant!
Thank you so much, Nancy!
I agree!
Parachute silk was obtainable without clothing coupons so it was used for wedding gowns and underwear during/after WWII in Uk so probably also in rest of Europe
Very interesting.
Your home, your friends, and your outlook warm my heart. Thank you!
Well said
I love everything about Vibeke’s home and decor. I enjoy watching the two of you - I think we need more Vibeke in our lives! Merry Christmas from the cold and windy mountains of North Carolina!
She is such a dear friend to me. Thanks, Paige!
Me too. And am in western NC loving it all.
Paige Belt
I agree. Always enjoy these videos. Vibeke = Hygge
Central NC here! :)
Hello neighbor!
Lovely video Diane, thank you to Vibeke for sharing her beautiful home and decorations with us, love a chocolate orange, you have to tap it and unwrap it 🍫😃🍊
That's the best part! We like to wait until no one is paying attention, then give them a good whack and scare the bejeezus out of everyone! 😂 My family has a very warped sense of humor lol.
Yes, Clare - those old adverts live on in our heads! 😄
What a beautiful home! Thank you and Vibeke for sharing it with us.
What a cherished friendship you have Diane! I so enjoyed this video. What a beautiful home. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Dianne!
Thank you Vibeka! Love your home. Appreciate you inviting us into your home and letting Diane video. Have a great weekend Diane and Vibeka!
Thank you so much, Elizabeth!
Beautiful home Vibeke! You should show us how you knit your dishtowels
This just lifted my holiday spirit! Vibeke's house is beautiful! I love all the intricate details and traditions in her decorations. You can see the beauty in putting something together that doesn't cost much and isn't commercialized. Thank you for your videos!
Thank you for the lovely words, Brenda!
Oh what a treat that was. I love Vibeke's style. You can see how much style and thought she puts into everything. There's so much history there too. I know we'd all love to go have a cup of Christmas tea with Vibeke.
Thank you so much for the peek inside Vibeke’s home. I am a T2 and I can relate to her home and decorating style. Just lovely! You have a very special friendship with your besties. ❤️
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Deb! Yes, T2s have a beautiful decorating style!
Those dolls on the branches! Exquisite! Arthritis robbed the world of a true artist. But to have tea with her so now you have that memory to go with your lovely little ladies she made! Magic!
Those dolls are so wonderful, aren't they - a piece of art!
That table cloth blew me away because how bright the colors were considering the age. It looks brand new from my side of the screen!
My grandmother (who was a seamstress/dressmaker) once told me that in WW2 she made a weddingdress from parachutesilk! It wasn't easy to lay a hand on material like that...
I've heard of that before. I understand that parachute silk can't be reused for parachutes, so if you had a connection in the service, you could get used parachutes. www.thevintagenews.com/2017/06/16/dresses-from-the-sky-ww2-wedding-gowns-made-from-silk-and-nylon-parachutes/
Yes parachute silk was a hot thing for the black market, popular for underwear and blouses and dresses ...
Wow, that sounds absolutely amazing, Danielle!
Vibeke is lovely inside and out - as well are you. The two of you are blessed to have each other. Happy Holidays to both of you.
Thank you so much, Emily!
Hi Diane, crazy, good, fun ending! What a lovely tour of Vibeke’s home. Maybe when things quiet down, Vibeke will show us “how” to make the flocked tree book! Your video’s this month have certainly helped the “Diane Nation” waltz into the Christmas holidays. Thank you for being you!❤️
Hi Carol! She said it was very simple...just cut the shape of the tree on each page, no folding, and then spray on fake snow. It looks like the pages have been rolled in some way but that is just the effect of the snow. Fooled me too!
Vibeke's home is absolutely stunning 👍
This video made me so happy today. Blessings ❤️
Are you sure that was tea you were drinking? ha ha ha You two sure have fun together.🤶🏻🤶🏼 ps. Did I spy your cake pan? 👍 Terry's Chocolate Orange. It wouldn't be Christmas without one in my stocking on Christmas morning--- my American husband knows how to make me happy. 🍊 (California girl, 🏄🏻♀️ emigrated from Scotland 🏴as a child) Mum always put a real orange in Dad's stocking (which were actual socks taken from Dad's dresser drawer!) a hold over from their childhood in wartime Scotland. Thanks for triggering that sweet memory. We lost Mum this year.
Lovely memories of your Mum, Sara! 💖
I totally get why you and Vibeke are such good friends. You too are simply charming together.
Thank you Vibeke for inviting us into your beautiful home and to both of you for sharing a bit little of your friendship with us ❤
Thank you Diane and Vibeke. It was a joy sharing time with you.
What a lovely and charming home your friend Vibeke has! I love the handmade decorations and natural treats. Reminds me of Christmases when I was a child before everything was commercialized. Very sweet and elegant.
Thank you, Maria!
Add me to the list of folks who relaxed and enjoyed a cup of Christmas tea with this charming Jul video. It put me in a festive mood and I giggled out loud at the end. It was very gracious of Vibeke to share her lovely holiday home with us. Thanks to both of you!
Thank you so much, Connie 🤗
Amazing! Vibeke’s house is stunning! I still have to have a chocolate orange..... 😂😂😘
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without one, Lucie! 😄
Thank you to both of you for having "sunshining" my day. You are wonderful and Vibeke's home is amazing. A lot of best wishes to you and your families.
Many thanks, Catherine!
A big thank you to Vibeke for opening her beautiful home to us. She is delightful. I wish you both and your families a wonderful Christmas. 🎄🎁🎉
Thank you so much, Kelly - Merry Christmas to you!
I truly enjoy your videos!!! This Christmas video was the best. Thanks to you I discovered DYT. I’m a T4. I think I’m a secondary T2. I collect and decorate vintage items like Vebeka. Her decor items are beautiful. Thanks Diane for another great video.
Ooooo, so glad you enjoyed it, Christina!
I am also a type 2, so I am loving this!!!
Be sure to check out the other video's we have made together...Vibeke does lots of fabulous T2 crafts! 🖐😊
I love Vibeke's portrait wall. I am getting into the spirit!!!! Yesterday we went to Bestemores, a Danish store and got the little go-to round Christ mad candle that is metal and moves when you light it. Such a pretty addition to our holiday celebrations. You are so inspiring!
Those candle holders are lovely, Alyssa - we all have them here - so simple and pretty!
Ooooh! It’s soooooo Christmassssseeeee! 🌲 🎅 ⛄️ 🦌 🕯
Love Vibekas home! Such wonderful classic and unique decorations especially the toilet paper at the end!.....You guys are so much fun and have brightened my day! 🌞 Thanks Dianne and Vibeka, Merry Christmas and have a great weekend xx
Hee hee, glad you spotted the Christmas-themed toilet paper! All in good taste! LOL!
Greetings Diane UA-cam featured this Vlog again, the 3rd time and I watched it start to finsh. Last time was 2 yrs ago. On your current Fly Lady program I count this as a major pamper for myself today. It is not Christmas, but it makes me feel so watm and cozy ?❤- Even as we approach Easter 2924 and Spring. You and your kindness really mean so very much to your subscribers. Here is hoping we and new members csn reach 100,000 together. Well deserved.
Beautiful👌💞
Such a lovely video! I want to move to Copenhagen and be one of your besties!
Always room for one more friend! 🖐😀
How lovely! Thank you for showing us your home, Vibeke! I love your home. The doll ornaments are my favorite and the artificial tree with all those ornaments and the books...oh my, maybe I’m a type 2 DYT! 🤣 Just kidding. I’m pretty sure I’m a t3. Thank you for sharing, Diane! 🥰
Isn't it good to know your type, Dawn? I love the book trees but know which ones I will actually be able to accomplish without getting bored or giving up half way! LOL!
My dad was 101st air born us army in WWII. I have his scarf that has their screaming eagle emblem on it and is made from parachute fabric (silk). A treasure!
Beautiful memory, Pen!
I am a Danish American.... Vibeke looks so much like my dearly departed Danish Mama.... So many items and traditions in my home growing up, I didn't realize were common Danish ways. Thanks for the hygge... and the memories.
You are so very welcome, Annie!
Thank you for helping me wrap some presents, Ladies! I have watched this video there times now through my TV and will again during the Christmas season. There is something vey touching about your entrance and the treasures that hide behind it. If I had walked past this door I would have received a hint of how special the people whose home it is must be. Such grace! Diane, thank you so very much for this much needed inspiration and encouragement. Invaluable!
I loved so much being with Vibeka and you in her home!!! I felt like I was really having tea with you and enjoying the beauty surrounding us and the hygge!!! It truly warmed my heart today. Thank you both so much! 😊💖🎄🎵
Thank you so much for this video, Diane. The both of you really made my day!
No I will prepare for our Saint Nicolas Dinner. That's a swiss tradition on the 6th of December, Saint Nicolas brings sweets or little gifts to the children and the kids will sing or say poems for him. Have a wonderful day💖
Enjoy your special evening, Jeannette!
Thank you, Diane, we will enjoy it.
I love Vibeke’s graceful statues, and was sad as you passed them by...would’ve loved to know more.
Two thumbs up!👍 Tell Vibeka thank you and Merry Christmas!🎄 You both warm my heart! ❤️
Aww, thank you, Mary!
What a beautiful and authentic home that is made with such warmth and heart that it feels so full and yet it isn’t cluttery at all! My word! This is such a treat to be in your home!
What a beautiful home! Wow! This vintage cosy feel is just my cup of tea! Danish homes can often be quite minimalistic, but I LOVE this home!
Vebeke is so creative. You are both so much fun to listen too. Thank you.
I've had a busy evening of cleaning and making a start on my Christmas decoration. I don't do a lot of decorating. Just enough to add some sparkle. I really enjoyed seeing Vibeka's home and decoration. I do love vintage though I also like modern. I'm not very good at combining the two styles so things never really come together. I admire both of you as you know your decorating styles and you carry it out. Vibeka is such a lovely person, and the two of you are wonderful friends to one another. The doll decorations on the table really are fantastic. That was a cute ending to your video. Enjoy your Friday. Soon it will be the weekend.
You, too, Joyful - enjoy your weekend!
Thank you Diane and Vibeke. Sat by my fire with a cup of tea and thoroughly enjoyed Vibeke’s beautiful home tour. xx
Oh, I love those little dolls!! She has a beautiful home, thanks for sharing with us. Having my coffee with your tea..what fun you both have!
We do have fun! Thanks, Elizabeth!
What a wonderful treat this video has been! Thank you to Vibeke for opening her lovely home to us and inviting us in for tea. So many of the sweet touches here -- formal tea on a tray, silver candlesticks, vintage linens -- remind me of my childhood home and especially my mother's traditions (she grew up in a small village in Northern Germany). I watched this while baking cookies but I have a feeling I'll have to watch it again with nothing but a cup of tea to distract me.
Wishing you both the happiest of holidays!
Merry Christmas to you, Grace!
Just beautiful! I went to a book folding class last night at my library and my project says Noel. I was so thrilled when it came out right! I love your book trees. 🎄🎄🎄 My favorite story today was about Vibeke and the lady who made the doll ornaments. 😊
Yay, I'm glad you enjoyed making your own tree, Kristyn!
Thank you, Vibeke, for inviting us into your lovely home, so many beautiful decorations! I especially like the handmade ones that are on your dining room table, and what a sweet story you have to go with them. ❤
We have chocolate oranges here in the states too, Diane. My family LOVES them! They're so popular that my bff/aide got ours yesterday and she said there were only 3 left for the next person. There was one year when I had waited too long to get them and they were all gone. My kids were terribly disappointed. I vowed to get them the first week of December from then on and haven't missed out since!
Thanks to you and Vibeke for a hyggely start to my day. 🎄❤
Glad to hear that you have your Choc Orange supply!
Lovely home! Thank you for inviting us in.
I love snowflakes and I've never seen anything like that wooden Christmas tree in the window constructed of snowflakes. Oh the ideas it sparks in me! How to recreate it!
What a lovely treat of a video ❤️ Vibeke has beautiful home and amazing stories to share with her decor . Love how you all surround yourself with stories, history and traditions so very simply . Such a great friend you are to each other. The dancing santa was enjoying all that hygge 🤣😂 loved the dance 💃 fun memories in the making. Thank you
Thanks, Owl Lover! 😍
I love Vibeke! She is so interesting.
She is, Carrie - and so very kind and fun!
That blouse looks beautiful on you Diane.
Thank you, Kat - it's an old favourite!
I'm watching this video again 3 years after my last comment, lol. Vibeke's house is very beautiful and I can see she loves to do crafts. I enjoyed your little bit of fun at the end of the video. Take care Diane and enjoy the holiday season. As for me I'm decorating a bit later this year but am now getting the gifts and wrapping organized.
What a beautiful home and such lovely decorations. Just lovely. Many thanks to Wibike for having us as guests..My mother , know 80 had a dress for her first communion that was made of parachute silk. After the war that was very popular in Germany because other fabrics were not available. Parachute silk was also used often for wedding gowns in those days.
Have a wonderful second advent weekend.
Thanks, Kerstin! 👋
Oh my, oh my...I had to wait all day to watch this...now it's 3:00 am in your little part of the world and I am absolutely loving every bit of this video. The inside of your lovely home is imprinted in my brain; now I'm adding Viebeke's to my store of beautiful places. Thank you both so so much! You just don't know how much the journey through the Christmas holiday is made so much more lovely because of all you share. Did I say I'm getting an Aebleskiver pan? Making soon along with so many things you and Viebeke have shared...food...decorations. Much love across the miles.
This is so lovely! Thank you both.
So glad you enjoyed it, Elizabeth! 🖐🎄☕😀
Every loving thank you to you and Vibeke for sharing the Danish traditions of Christmas. And Vibeke was so gracious to open her home.
Merry Christmas to you both!🎄😘💕
So lovely. Put a big smile on my face. Stunning decorations.🎇🎄🎉
Thank you so much, Ellen!
I forgot to mention, it’s so nice to see two people talking without the other interrupting or talking over the other. I have such a pet peeve with that 😂🤣 oh and Congratulations on 40K whoo hoo go you 🎉👏🍾🥳
Many thanks! 🎉🎉🎉😁
Thanks a lot to Vibeke for showing us here wonderful creative (Christmas) home!
Vibeke! Thank you for sharing the beauty of your home. You are very kind. Merry Christmas to both of you. This was a lovely video, and Diane, I am so glad you introduce us to the Danish culture. Thank you again, ladies!
I will pass that on to Vibeke - thank you, Catherine! 🖐😀
Just what I needed today after some awful news during the night. Years ago I bought a dancing Santa but my son took the batteries out because it got on his nerves every time it started it's routine. So nice to see a gentle style compared to my own. You missed a trick with the fork handles.😆
Sorry to hear you had bad news, Trish. But glad we could cheer you up...and, yes, as soon as I said "four candles", I was thinking exactly the same as you! 😅 Love the Two Ronnies!!!
Awe I just love all of these homemade and unique decorations! So special. So fun to see how the Danes do Christmas! It reminds me of what I see in Ikea, but waaaay better! Lol
Everything is so lovely! Thank you for sharing. I too like to decorate simply. It looks so much better to me and is fun and carefree to do. I wish you would show close up pictures of the beautiful dolls so we can see the details of the faces better. They are fantastic from what you did show. TFS! Have a wonderful day!
❤️
I loved this video today. You brought back memories of my English grandmother. You truly put a smile on my face. You inspire me to try new things.
Thank You Vibeka for inviting us into your beautiful home. I love those doll ornaments. I also love the bird ormaments. Thank You Diane for sharing this video. I got a laugh with you 2 ladies in the Santa Hats. Very hygge.
I love your Christmas hat dance at the end!! Thanks for allowing us a glimpse at your beautiful friendship, and Vibeke’s Christmas decor.
Hee hee! We have a lot of laughs together, Debbie!
Merry Christmas Diane and Vibeke! Thank you for inviting me into your home and sharing your decorations. They are lovely and so are the both of you! Ho Ho Ho
Sparkle items- bling
Diane, I am piggybacking on what several commenters below explained about parachute silk post World War II. This article describes how some military men gave the very parachutes which saved their lives to their brides to be sewn into a wedding dress. The WW 2 museum is not far from where I live, and I have visited many times. Click here if you are interested:
www.google.com/amp/s/www.thevintagenews.com/2017/06/16/dresses-from-the-sky-ww2-wedding-gowns-made-from-silk-and-nylon-parachutes/amp/
Thank you for sharing this link, Michelle, such a heartwarming article!
@@ForbiddenChocolate I'm glad you enjoyed it! We take our little boy to New Orleans every year to visit with the WW 2 veterans, as their days are sadly numbered. They have such important stories to share! Such a difficult time in the world, and yet, so many endearing things came from it.
Thanks so much, Michelle!
@@michelleb6395 my grandfather was stationed in Italy during WWII. He came to live with us after he had a stroke and couldn't live alone safely. He had so many stories, about the war and his childhood and his mischievous teenage years, it was a wonderful experience having him here. The kids learned so much from him, especially my son who was very interested in history at the time. God bless you and your family for honoring our surviving vets!
Forbidden Chocolate, what a blessing that you had this experience! Interestingly, my Italian grandfather immigrated to the US before WWII and tried to enlist to support the American effort. The government refused his service and sent him back home. I miss him dearly but do enjoy time spent with others from that generation. New Years blessings and love to you!
Great team! You´re so sweet!
Thank you so much! And to Vibeke as well. I DO want to make a book 'tree' now, but as a librarian it will be difficult to find a book suitable. I want to save all books! 😄
Tee hee, Suzi! Perhaps you can find one that is damaged and "save it" by making a tree?
Thank you, I loved touring the home and learning about the different traditions. I live in the USA.
Vibeke's home and decorating style is exquisite. I love the soft colors, the nature touches/textures of the pine cones, felt ornaments, and branches in the window and door hangings - love those! That beautiful pristine white tablecloth in her dining room is so "me." The gorgeous vintage white fireplace and tasteful decorations, beautiful, understated elegance. Vibeke has "the touch." I think I must be Danish in my heart because I love everything!! ❤🇩🇰
I just feel like you gave me a gift! I will watch this video again today as it was so beautiful. Thank you Diane and Vibeke.
Aww, thank you so much, Brenda!
Vibeke, I love love love your house!!
What a beautiful home! This tour was so fun. Thank you for sharing!
Loved this Diane thank you
Lovely. I Thank YOUs!!!!
I believe that I had watched this last year, but was definitely worth another view. Such beautiful decorations and the history is what makes everything so special. You ladies have fun! 🙂
Thank you so much, Holly!
Thanks you Diane And Vibeke for this fun video. Your home is so quaint and beautifully decorated, Vibeke! Thank you for sharing it with us.
so sweet!
What an enjoyable, entertaining video! I loved the tour of Vibeke's home and all of the beautiful, meaningful Christmas decorations and traditions---thank you so much for sharing!
This was so fun and her home is beautiful!! Thanks for sharing.
I loved this!! Thank you for sharing! ❤🌷
Thanks to both of you for a wonderful gift this morning. 💕
Thank you ladies for the lovely Christmas home tour. Vibeka, you have a lovely home! It's so very cozy and welcoming. Thank you for your hospitality! Diane, you are such a lovely lady! I enjoy your Flylady videos! They have been a tremendous help to this old lady. I'm slowing down and have a chronic illness which makes life challenging! I'm fussy about keeping a clean and tidy home. I can see how the Flylady system will help ease things for me!
Love and hugs to you both.
Merry Christmas from San Diego, California USA 🌲☕🍪🍬🌟🍫❤
Many thanks, Dee Anne 🤗👋
What a beautiful home and a beautiful friendship y’all have. That is a true blessing. I just loved the dolls on the branches.
What a beautiful and peaceful home ❤thank you 🎄
