- How to fix P0453 Code: Evaporative Emission System Pressure Sensor/Switch High
A P0453 code is set when the computer (ECM/PCM) detects that the signal voltage from the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor, sometimes called EVAP Pressure Sensor, is too high.
The EVAP Pressure Sensor can be located on the fuel tank, on top of the fuel pump, or on the charcoal canister.
While Evap systems are similar, they can be designed differently, so it is best to get a diagram for the year, make, and model of the vehicle.
Possible Causes of a P0453 Code
Pressure Sensor
Wiring Issue
EVAP Pressure is High (Bad Vent Valve, Purge Valve, Charcoal Canister)
Faulty Computer (ECM/PCM)

I have this code right now I change the purge valve I also changed the tank pressure evap I don't know if I have a bad connection or something but I still have the code on my truck and it's shutting my truck off
If it is shutting the engine off and there are no other codes, I would test the purge valve and be sure it is working. I made a full video on all the EVAP components and how to test them; here is a link. ua-cam.com/video/C5s3Rx3wjD0/v-deo.html
Hola tengo ese codigo el una rav4 2009 acabo de comprar P0453 gracias por tu ayuda
I have a 2013 Tahoe 5.3 with simultaneous codes P015b and P015d, check engine light went away on its own for one day, then came back on with the same codes in it, can you offer any help, thanks.
I have a 2018 Kia Sorento, had the fuel pump assembly replaced and the fuel pressure sensor replaced. I’m still getting the check engine light on with the P0453 code. Why would the engine light still come on with the emissions code even after replacing the fuel pump assembly and the pressure sensor ?
I would check the wiring going to the FTP sensor. If that is good, there likely is another issue.
