    Fanny pack coming back? I thought they never left. I still use it 😂

    Take the tourniquet out of the packaging. It's made of ballistic nylon and webbing, you're never gonna wear it out keeping it inside a bag.
    The real issue is that it isn't staged out properly straight from the manufacturer so if you had to say, use it one handed, you'd be fucked. When you or somebody else is bleeding out is not the time to try to grip and tear that plastic with bloody hands and set up a tourniquet.
    Ideally you'd keep it on the outside of the bag for quick access, but if you're gonna keep it inside atleast give yourself the quickest deployment possible.

    Awesome kit! Made one similar not long ago. I too carry a CAT just in case however I keep mine staged so that it’s deployable for one handed self aid. I suggest everyone does this because if you need it better to have it ready to go than to have to rip the package off then set it up to be put on. (There set up for shipping not saving lol) Just some food for thought.

  • @gdoghammerspring

    Your CAT needs to be stage to be deployable at a moments notice. Forget about keeping it clean. It also needs to be place on body or on the outside of your shoulder bag. That way someone can use it on you or you have quick access to use it on you or someone else.

    That small dummy cord loop inside is mainly used for a kydex trigger guard . Quick deployment when you need to acces your firearm quickly . As you draw the loop and cords quick detaches the guard.
    Obviously those who don’t conceal carry can use for keys , carabiners etc.
    Good video.

    Great video. Definitely need to open and stage that tourniquet though. Trust me in a fast paced high stress scenario it will be difficult to open. People including myself don't think they will lose or have diminished fine motor skills, but believe me it happens.

    I recommend to all my friends to unroll those gloves that are prepackaged. And reroll them again. They’re very tightly rolled and degrade quickly and are very hard to get into when they’re compressed that much when seconds count.

  • @behindthespotlight7983
    @behindthespotlight7983 Рік тому +1

    One of two options (& the only two) that make any sense for survival kits to be worn in tandem with a full ruck w/ belt. The other being a chest rig (like Helikon Tek). A little thick in profile for my taste. I’d probably cross load out the boo boo bag & CAT. Add a couple contractors liners (folded and carried in back pockets) and a backpackers ultralight tarp carried in a cargo pocket and you’re good to go.

    I like your packing list. I resent that Google snoops on my private notes on my Mac not shared in the cloud or with anyone and allegedly encrypted because I just wrote a outline on exactly this for a video project of my own yesterday and viola, your video popped up in my feed today...but this isn't a fluke it is a reliable pattern- like clock work and Google isn't supposed to have access to my encrypted private machine only accounts. Some security auditing is clearly necessary and a complaint filed with Crapple.
    Your bag load out is close to what I outlined yesterday with a few exceptions. You did a good job here and I liked what you included. some of my items are different but many are also parallel I just use a military style waist pack because it has held up for years and years without freeing and wearing thin. I'll have to check out this one from LA Police Gear. thanks for the tip.

    I carry a SWAT t tourniquet.. because it's so light and flat.. it also doubles as a pressure bandage... I also have blood stopper powder.. a box with two packs for $5 at Walmart.. I would also add a stand-up water bag.. they take up nearly no space in would give you something to put the water. Purification tablets in... Also a lightweight mini aquamara water water filter straw

    Pretty good kit. The CAT package will be more difficult to open if you're doing it with one arm. If you need a TQ, seconds matter. Since the kit's nominally set up for urban survival you may want to consider adding a sillcock key and a folding or rollup water bag.

    I like the idea and have used multi pocketed heavey weight material fanny packs for years but have recently toyed with the idea of using a sling style back pack for hunting along with a fanny pack to carry extra like food,first aid,shelter,fire,ect with out being overly heavey. Can you recommend a type or style in the 25-30liter range? I am on a very fixed income so it would have to be used for both archery and muzzle loading ( gun ) season until I can get a second bag for doing so.

    Is a good set up, but from the medical point of view, the gloves mut be in another color, blue, mostly. If the gloves are going to be used with another purposes is ok, but for body fluid (blood) is better be able to observe the fluid. Black color can give a false sense of security when handling secretions or blood.

  • @aaronliu9945
    @aaronliu9945 Рік тому +1

    Take the CAT out of the packaging and stage it properly. Your TQ should be deployable one handed plus there's really no reason to keep it "clean and fresh" as it goes outside of your body. TBH every time you use the pack you should take the TQ out and stage it in an external pouch on the strap or your belt or something. Even your pockets would be better than leaving it inside of a zippered pack. The only thing you really need to protect it from long term is sunlight, which the pack itself does most of the time while not in use.

    What brand is on the Walmart fix blade?

  • @oxcart19
    @oxcart19 Рік тому +1

    That SOG PowerPint will be more useful if you flatten the end of the file, and make it slightly thinner, so it can be used a large flat-head screwdriver, and as a light pry bar. Do the same for the stupid "rope cutter," (which I found to be ineffective and for which purpose I would use the serrated blade, anyway) and you will have a small flat-head screwdriver. My favorite feature of the PowerPint is that all the tools lock.

    • @ethanh2392
      @ethanh2392 Рік тому

      That is a horrible suggestion. Files are hard metal hence the reason it’s a file. Hard metal means more brittle. Using a file as a pry bar would absolutely snap it in half without much force. If you want a pry bar, use a key chain multitool pry bar such as the gerber shard. Or go to home depot and get a small 6in pry bar.

    • @oxcart19
      @oxcart19 Рік тому

      @@ethanh2392 That's why I said "light pry bar." As a file, the thing on the PowerPint seems appropriate for fingernails. It's not a "real" file.

    • @ethanh2392
      @ethanh2392 Рік тому

      @@oxcart19 I read you said. Still don’t care. It’s not a “light pry bar” at all. The file can be used for fingernails but it would have no problem taking burs off metal. Use the right tool for the job. End of discussion.

    • @oxcart19
      @oxcart19 Рік тому

      @@ethanh2392 In which case, the PowerPint isn’t appropriate for any heavy work. Sounds like you need a bigger tool. Have a nice day.

    • @ethanh2392
      @ethanh2392 Рік тому

      @@oxcart19 FFS. Did ANYBODY say anything about heavy work? LOOK, a multi tool is never the best option for any task. Given the purpose and size of the kit, the power pint is not a bad choice, instead of carrying three sets of pliers, four screw drivers, saws, knives, can openers, etc. To each their own though. When you break your file trying to pry with it, send it back to SOG and see what they tell you. MISUSE.

    You’re not going to get any significant wear on the tourniquet without the plastic on it. It being sterile also does not matter (not that it’s sterile in the plastic anyway) If you need a tourniquet, you need to get to it as quick as possible. Wouldn’t worry not having the plastic over it. If I were you I would rubber band it to the strap of the bag.
