I'm really enjoying MKLeo's newfound role as a counterpicker. He was always a fundies player rather than a character specialist, so it makes sense for him to keep a character pool of about half a dozen and then choose according to matchup or just comfort.
Very fitting that on the eve of Mexican Independence Day, Leo freed himself from his P tier Top 8 curse (he hasn't placed top 8 since Genesis 9). Not only that, but his practiced Meta Knight actually paid off and got him a win against the best player of his most abhorred character. Good shit GOAT!
@@Bribickhed6 please, I beg you to do your research if you're going to make such a pompous remark. Like octavio said, Collision was an S+. I know this is a terrible matchup for Min Min, but Leo winning this is still crazy. Doramigi is the best Min Min and it's not even close. Meanwhile, Leo hasn't used this character seriously in quite some time. GOAT things
From what I saw on the stream, VGBC only commentated game 5 (This was around the same time as the Shuton and Doramigi set for Top 12) - If you go to East Geek Smash, Leo and Akio's match is at 4:07:03
I was rooting for Doramigi (us min mins gotta stick together), but props to Leo for improving big time in this matchup, as it’s historically been one of his worst. Hope they can run into each other again, maybe at cirque?
Leo may not be going anymore. After they announced the invitees for cirque, Leo was announced for a B tier Salvadorian tournament that's happening that same weekend. Maybe he changed his mind last minute like he did with UFA going to Umebura instead
@Spyder-Marth ledgetrapping is exactly why you don't see much edgeguarding in Ultimate: top players just be politely waiting for their opponent to recover. But the thing about ledgetrapping is that it only kills at high percent; a successful edgeguard kills at ANY percent. Most of my kills as Lucas come from fucking up people's recoveries. Keep your gimp hand strong, people.
@@Scorpio3002Edgeguarding can be risky, depending on your character + the character you’re playing against. You don’t want to get reversaled and die early yourself
@mercurysnake274 true, some characters are better at it than others: Pika, Lucas and MK are the ones that stand out off the top of my head. But edgeguarding is starting to feel like a lost art, forsaken by a community of cowards.

That’s not even remotely true at all lol. Genesis 9 is certainly not Leo’s last p tier top 8. He got top 8 at collision this past march.
