This is a video of my install of a Powermaster 150 amp Alternator on my 1965 Impala SS with the original 283. This is a major upgrade from the factory alternator. With this upgrade I will never have power issues on this car no matter electrical accesories I add to the car., such as electric fans, air ride, or powerful stereo equipment. This video describes the process in great detail. Please like and subscribe

A word of warning: Make sure your wiring harness can handle 150 amps.
The original wiring was not designed to carry that much load.

The current is the same to the original loads. Anything else you add new needs to go directly to the battery and not the fuse box

How were you able to tighten the alternator enough to turn the engine with the socket? I'm upgrading my 1965 (non SS / 327) to the same alternator from an original 3 wire, and can't get it to turn the engine. Initially installed it exactly where the original alt was on the top bracket, and tried sliding it to the far end of the bracket, and the pulley just turns without turning the engine. Great channel. It is helping me a lot in the rebuild of my 65 convertible.

Thanks for the compliment. Maybe you need a slightly shorter belt. I didn’t have any problems with this on mine. I’m glad you got enjoy the channel

@@cartracer64 I used a new wire, the original wire is much too small and would melt.
