I love backpacking! This year's trip was to the jaw-droppingly gorgeous Sabrina Basin, near Bishop, California. I spent three nights in the mountains, shooting Blue Lake, Hungry Packer Lake, Moonlight Lake, Echo Lake, Bishop Creek, Topsy Turvy Lake, Picture Peak, Mountain Wallace, and Mount Haeckel.
I really like you style of shooting the video - showing you on your way to and through the beauty. Very fun!
that heel click hop! 😅 the Sabrina basin will do that.
patiently waiting for this backpacking season.
Beautiful images, funky music. As they say nowadays, YMMV.
Great video - thanks for sharing. You came away with some stunners
As I recall the hike up to Blue Lake is about 3 miles. Not too far, but it is relatively steep and you're at an altitude of 9,000+ feet. But take your time, drink lots of water, and you'll be fine. I didn't do any fishing but I believe there's good trout fishing in most of the high Sierra lakes. Have fun!
Josh, awesome country man saw your vid on FB today good stuff really enjoyed it.
Thanks for responding. I'm also using the D7000 but with a Tokina 11-16mm. I got your website
marked. Very Nice....I've been a photo editor for over twenty years. Keep up the great work.
Just wait till night time when you can see COUNTLESS stars as well as the easily viewed asteroid belt. WOW. Beautiful country is around bishop.
Hey Josh, would love to see more of your "Notes from the Filed series"... Great videos, site,post-processing and you take awesome pictures with D7000(my cam too)...
Thumbs up...
Geat video!
Sorry it took so long to respond back. Newspaper photo editor, now I do corporate photojournalism. However, I love landscape work. Keep up the good work!
@kruphoto Yup, dizzy indeed! :)
Excellent solo technique with the tripod. Nice touch filming your Jeep on the road. You gotta work on those cartwheels, man.
@garyg763 Thanks, Gary. I shot this video and all the photos with a Nikon D7000 and a Tokina 12-24mm lens, or a Nikon 50mm lens.
1:50 = priceless.
@garyg763 Awesome. I haven't used that Tokina 11-16 myself but I've heard darn good things about it.
You're a photo editor? Cool! Do you work for a magazine or is that a freelance kind of job?
The J is missing on the front of your Jeep. It is now an EEP.
True dat. And with a little paint it is now actually an EEP!
" eep" :)
NICE! What kind of camera bag are you using?
How long was the hike to blue lake? I'm going up next month with the family. Is it a semi beginner hike? Did U fish there, if so how is the fishing? We are starting our hike at Sabrina and hoping to make it to blue lake.
Thanks! I'd love to do some more Notes from the Field, but I just haven't had enough time to put together those videos. I have been doing some blogging along those lines though. Check out: seatosummitworkshops(dot)com(slash)behind-lens-four-mile-beach-seascape
Looks like you had a cartwheelin' great time. Great video (as usual)! I love it up there also. Thanks for sharing. alanek4 @ flickr
haha Awesome vid man! looked like you were getting pretty dizzy there near the end of your cartwheels. Check out my videos from around Jasper/BC. Cheers!
