Hey Sam, after 1500km on the E+2 I've parted with it for a few reasons, bike spent more time in shop getting fixed than in my shed. I've since picked up a rail 9 as a replacement and couldn't be happier. I tried a coil with progressive spring but found I needed to run a lot of compression to make it not blow through the travel so no advange over air shock, float x was OK but couldn't keep up with the 29er Zeb and would get caught up over chunk. Personally, I'd think this bike would be better as a 29er f+r especially with the longer chainstays. Another thing if you own one make sure you seal thebattery/ motor skid plate cover as water just flows in there a very poor design, frame wrap it as paint is very thin and the bottom shock bolt like to come loose every few rides.
Nice video, I did a similar exercise and found the e+2 a bit more interesting to work from as fewer components to change. One thing to look into: entry level rockshox forks can be modified with aftermarket compression circuits for around €300 which can be tuned to your weight and riding style, often ended up superior to even the ultimate version of the fork.

Love the channel, which is a new find for me. We run mostly road cycling holidays in the Valencia mountains and I'd neglected my MTB riding for too long. After getting some.inspiration, I just ordered a Mondraker Foxy R and my first ebike, a Reign e+3 2022. My last Reign was a 2008 X0 ! The new Reign arrives this week. Very excited. Just wanted to say found and audience comments helpful. I'll prob get the Charger 2.1 kit and upgrade the rotors and pads to sintered variations. I'll look at handlebars when I've ridden more, but I think a 30mm stem and higher rise bar might be in order, in part to match the Foxy cockpit and account for my short height on Medium frame. I've got a 2022 Reign E+ 3 in Amber Glow. I've already swapped out the Domain fork for the current Zeb Ultimate Charger 3 with 180mm of travel. I've also replaced the shock with a Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil RC2T but went with a longer stroke (65mm) to get an extra ~6mm of rear travel. This bike feels soooo good with these suspension upgrades and flip chip in high position. It's an absolute gnar beast. I've now basically got a Reign SX E+! Next up is a brake upgrade. Will probably go with Shimano XTs
@@wujektimon1 Works just fine, there's sufficient clearance. No rear wheel or frame-to-frame contact. I had first tried it without the spring and fully compressed the rear.
I have the +3 base model in Amber Glow (Root Beer). This video has just got me thinking about some upgrades for my bike. I really like Sam's choices apart from I'd swap out the Rockshox rear coil for a ttx Ohlins. Interesting tyre size choice but 100% agree on Magic Mary's front and rear. Interested to see what other riders might like. Great Show Sam.
Do it. If you ride super gnar or like to send it, I recommend going 180mm up front and getting a 65mm stroke shock to up rear travel to ~166mm. Flip chip in high position to keep it feeling balanced. I did this on my bike, and it feels amaaazing.
Hi Sam, Thanks for the video. As a Giant retailer it's good advert for us and for our customers. :) I'm using now the Reign E+ 2 model and I like it a lot. My colleague just started to use the 3rd model. Have you known that Giant Reign E+ bikes have the larger 1.8" Tapered forks since 2022? If you wish to replace them to 1.5" tapered forks you will need an adapter between the steerer tube and crown race.

Hi Sam, and ebikers! The reign e+ is a great bike. I saw a possible problem is the upgrade recommendation, which I want to share, or think about it. Giants maestro suspension is designed to use with an air shock only. The leverage ratio is so optimised, that the maestro calculates the ramp up and end progression of an air shock. That is the reason why there is no coil option from the factory.
My concern as well. I want the plushness as I ride in the mountains and mostly enduro and DH tracks. 1 option a MRP progressive spring my rider wgt 185.
I run a DVO Jade X with a progressive coil on my Trance MTB. Works well. Giant has released variants of the Reign MTB over the years with coil and maestro. Maestro isn't necessarily incompatible with coil shocks.

I orderd a reign e+0 2022 with the discount they give today it is a real deal. E0 2022 has better parts then the 2023 models if you ask me. top brakes , suspension, carbon wheels and with the discount they give i can easy upgrade to axs if i want too and the 50wh more battery i can ignore

It was not possible anymore 🤣🤣.I like your dreambuild levo but to own a brose is like russia roulette. you can have a good motor or a nightmare one. i want something robust ,reliable with potential updates in future because of the newer tec. The reign e+0 spec is almost perfect they did their homework right (a Carbon version with axs and a nice dropper woud be top of the line, maybe the new rockshox suspension). ok you have this filler cracks but why shoud i bother giant gives lifetime warranty
Hi Sam, thanks for the video. Trying to decide on next bike to buy and would love your opinion between the carbon Trance e+ or an SL bike. Is the weight difference really noticeable on the trail? ie is an SL bike significantly more agile on the downhill or is the difference negligible?
Hey mate I think it all depends on who you are riding with? If you ride on your own a SL is a great option if you want to get fitter and have a more playful bike but you will struggle to keep up with the full powered ebikes.
I have the 2022 e+3 (Orange). I’ve made some upgrades but the one you chose that made me think was the shorter crank arms. I do get more pedal strikes than usual, even on High mode. What companies sell 155-160mm eMtb crank arms other than Hope? I have some beloved Hope hubs on another bike but sometimes their gear is hard to find in stock. Praxis makes a 160mm. Not sure who else.

Loving the set up and feel have to send a pic to you.

I have the have the 2022 +3 base model in Amber Glow love the colour added some mucky nutz frame protection to make it mine love the viking pattern, shortened the cranks to 150mm Miranda Cranks DMR Vault Pedals in orange of course :) I reduced the chainring to 34t and added orange bolts, I upgraded the levers to shimano SLX and this gave a great break feel with the standard calipers, I have Magic Mant front and Rear both in 2.6 with a Nukeproof ARD insert in rear, and also added some Spank Vibrocore 60mm rise bars, I have short arms for my height so for me its perfect, Here are my upgrade ideas I guess this would be my dream build along with the bits i have already done to my own bike, Keep the Domain Fork But adding a Smash Pot Spring increasing travel to 180mm and upgrading to the the Charger Damper with custom tune, Rear Shock Rockshox ultimate spring with custom tune and of course progressive spring to cater for the linear maestro suspension. Wheels - Hunt eEnduro and as i need to change disks they take the 6 bolt will increase front disk to 220mm, Drivetrain Full XT Link Glide system.

Just wanted to help out a bit. Suspension is amazing (use both of them). The Hope Rims (Hubs are fine) are a very bad choice! For the price you can get a EX511 that will last a lifetime. Otherwise the bike is mint!
Does anyone else have problems with motor overheating. I heared this is common issue with new syncdrive pro motor and you can find a lot off sad owners on the internet. I have giant reign e+2 2022 and I weight 77 kg and have problems with overheating and motor automaticly shift down modes from 5 to 4 or 3. Outside temp was only 20 deg celcius. Thanks for honest comments. I hope anyone has a solution for this issue.
I have been upgrading my e2 put AXS wireless drivetrain and dropper post. Removed the remote from the handlebar. I put the original dropper post on my Stance E2. Fenders front and rear bolt on front modified Proguard front for the rear. DT Swiss H1900 rear wheel. ODI double locking grips Saint brakes. I see some Schwalbe tires in it's future. The Nick's work great on my Stance. I'll run something different on the Reign but they'll be Schwalbe they make great tires! Great video in my opinion stock is never quite right regardless of spec level one needs to make it their own.
You could have just upgraded the Domain Damper with a Charger 2.1 RC, you would get the same performance like on the ZEB Ultimate, just for less money. This would have been a useful information for the viewers.

BUT you didn't upgrade the dropper post, saddle, shifter, cassette, chain or even the most obvious part, the derailer. You could have put XT on all of the driver train as a no-brainer. Be patient, and watch out for the 2nd hand market maybe? also hearing bike industry is suffering (not a good thing) but some upside for consumers, as price may likely drop, that's if they have the stock for this particular model.

Yep, I called FSA directly and ordered a crown race adapter from them.
Why would you run front MM with DH casing and rear SuperGravity? BTW cant find any ultra soft MM in super-gravity 29x2.4...
Because MM in Ultra Soft is only available in super DH or super trail

How much "km" can you ride with magic marys ? changing intervall front and rear, what do you guess ?
1000-1500 on the front and 400-700 on the back

As long as you don’t change the travel up you still have a full warranty on frame

Here are my upgrade ideas I guess this would be my dream build along with the bits i have already done to my own bike, Keep the Domain Fork But adding a Smash Pot Spring increasing travel to 180mm and upgrading to the the Charger Damper with custom tune, Rear Shock Rockshox ultimate spring with custom tune and of course progressive spring to cater for the linear maestro suspension. Wheels - Hunt eEnduro and as i need to change disks they take the 6 bolt will increase front disk to 220mm, Drivetrain Full XT Link Glide system.

Pretty awesome that all the 2023 Reign E+ models come with the 800wh battery now! But the price of the E+ 3 also increased by $400 USD, lol ...I'm very tempted to buy an 800wh battery from Giant. hmmmm
Just wanted to help out a bit. Suspension is amazing (use both of them). The Hope Rims (Hubs are fine) are a very bad choice! For the price you can get a EX511 that will last a lifetime. Otherwise the bike is mint!
Does anyone else have problems with motor overheating. I heared this is common issue with new syncdrive pro motor and you can find a lot off sad owners on the internet. I have giant reign e+2 2022 and I weight 77 kg and have problems with overheating and motor automaticly shift down modes from 5 to 4 or 3. Outside temp was only 20 deg celcius. Thanks for honest comments. I hope anyone has a solution for this issue.
I have been upgrading my e2 put AXS wireless drivetrain and dropper post. Removed the remote from the handlebar. I put the original dropper post on my Stance E2. Fenders front and rear bolt on front modified Proguard front for the rear. DT Swiss H1900 rear wheel. ODI double locking grips Saint brakes. I see some Schwalbe tires in it's future. The Nick's work great on my Stance. I'll run something different on the Reign but they'll be Schwalbe they make great tires! Great video in my opinion stock is never quite right regardless of spec level one needs to make it their own.
You could have just upgraded the Domain Damper with a Charger 2.1 RC, you would get the same performance like on the ZEB Ultimate, just for less money. This would have been a useful information for the viewers.
Yes true but I decided for the difference in weight your better off selling the forks and going the zebs 2023 with the charger 3

Hello, do you recall what shock tune you got for the rockshox super deluxe?
BUT you didn't upgrade the dropper post, saddle, shifter, cassette, chain or even the most obvious part, the derailer.
You could have put XT on all of the driver train as a no-brainer.
You left half of the upgrades out and even all the most likely ones anyone would do apart from tyres.

Be patient, and watch out for the 2nd hand market maybe? also hearing bike industry is suffering (not a good thing) but some upside for consumers, as price may likely drop, that's if they have the stock for this particular model.
