      The word "groovy" was not cool in the 70s. That was the 60s. They did a 1972 episode of Room 222 where some guy came back from Vietnam after 2 years and people laughed at him when he used groovy.

    Give me the 70's any day! I loved the 70's, and I thank God I grew up in them. I sure would like to get a few people together to try to do this song. That'd be too much fun! Being a kid in the 70's was really special. Thanks for posting!

      I completely agree with you. I would love to get together with some people and do some songs from Tony de Franco. Donny Osman David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman tied to Franco. Gosh, he's like the best, isn't he? I live in San Diego, so it would be great to get some people together.

But then come along the DeFranco's and young Tony DeFranco. Course I was mostly about his two older sisters. Never knew their names. I wasn't aware they were Italians. But I didn't care. Loved their songs.

    On this day in 1973 {July 14th} the DeFranco Family performed "Heartbeat - It's A Lovebeat" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand...
    Two months later on September 8th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #3 and spent 17 weeks on the Top 100 chart...
    Member Benny DeFranco turned 20 years old three days before this appearance on Bandstand...

    I was about 6 when this came out, my sister drove me nuts with this and her 45 of "the Night Chicago Died".
    lol, I used to walk to school in the Northern Ontario, Canada winters in this era,..... an era where frozen bell-bottoms caused as many accidents as lawn darts and "Little Scientist" chemistry sets. ツ

      My little brother still has a lawn dart sticking outta his head. Medical science has been able to remove it since about 1990, but he leaves it in there to keep collecting disability. And do you still get the occasional odd whiff of burning chemicals somewhere and get transported back to playing with it? 70's Music and fashions may be very embarrassing but those of us who survived playing with toxic toys and driving in cars without seatbelts or airbags have an instant kinship!

A neighbour had lawn darts, another had those creepy crawlers... Oh, what a lovely stroll down memory lane. I was 10 when this song came out and played that 45 till it wore out!! Had the biggest crush on Tony, but I think all of us young girls did. I wish we could go back in time. The 70's were such a fun and simple time to grow up. We spent most of our days playing outside. Truly miss it. Ty for the memories!!

    My sister drove me nuts with this record in '73. Not too hard to see that the only one who sang on their records was Tony; the rest of the vocals were by session backup singers (sounds more than a little bit like the ones from The Partridge Family). Like Fabian, Leif Garrett, Frankie Avalon and so many others, this proves that when you're dealing with music like this it's more important to look good than to be able to sing.

    • @jrgnc1
      @jrgnc1 11 місяців тому

      They did their own singing. Otherwise, Tony would have had a solo career then.

    • @ez8546
      @ez8546 9 місяців тому

      This sounds like Tony backed by the Partridge Family session singers to me. I'm sure the DeFranco siblings sang backup in their live shows, though. If they can to it to the Supremes (backed by Motown session singers The Andantes), they can do it to the DeFrancos.

    • @ernestcruz6316
      @ernestcruz6316 9 місяців тому

      @@ez8546That's what I always thought. The Partridge backup singers were the Ron Hicklin singers, who also sang the Happy Days theme (the TV version), the Love American Style theme, and a number of others.
