"uselessness can be very useful" This is quite true. If everything thinks you're useful, they will come to you by default and they will think you will solve everything. When you cannot meet their ever-growing expectations, then they become disappointed. This is the same in sales. You underpromise and overdeliver. Do this, and you will gain clients. Do the reverse, you will lose clients.
In usefulness there is always leeway and wisdom comes from patient to grip on circumstances when they decide to come, not by you but you become compatible with the rules of nature. Life orders by rules but rules don't apply to those who follow the Tao by virtue of them who follow already yield in the nature give in their own words thoughts actions, bypass effort and doing by being, it's a change in perspective on how we see independently things to happen and not any complicated principle but plainly laid to plebeians, all we, so no need to burn out themselves later. Be smart, be alike to life.
It's the same in the family. When they know you are always the hard working one, who's always been the one to figure things out or someone who always manage money very well(not necessarily rich), they often come to you. It's fulfilling to help when you truly feel you needed to but most of the time tiring because you see you are exploited.
5:40 after I stopped playing the violin as a kid, I remember always being told that I could’ve been a master at my age or how I’m not productive like my other relatives who could afford clubs and sports. A part of me saw the beauty in being seen as the “useless” scapegoat, because I pioneered my interest in creativity and science: writing, designing, forensics/mortuary science, reading, drawing and editing. All are which I find myself always gravitating towards. As I grew up, many began to exploit this because I was now “exceptional” after receiving rewards and whatnot from the work and effort I’ve put in. I’ve learned that for most who rush in life, they silence their inner voice and expect others to do the same. Ive learned to listen to mines and ignore judgement which doesn’t provide much benefit

Hear, hear ! Great, keep on Your simple living. It's the wisest way to live our lives. Moneymakers cannot reach us and we do not get nutty from stressing around for nothing or letting tons of usefull information hammer through our brains every day. Selfmade torture. Be well !
life today is driven by materialism which drives consumerism which drives capitalism..then we become consumed by our own materialism. Slaves to desire and affluence and slaves to the debts we incur to achieve more acquisitions to satisfy our appetite for material wealth. Whole industries are built on satisfying our insatiable urges as well as satisfying our need to recover from the stresses brought on by our drive to satisfy our insatiable urges and desires. In the end , what do we have to show for this...a fat bank account ? poor health ? lazy and ungrateful children ? Where's the true wealth in a life lived to acquire those things ?
@@ifitsfreeitsforme1852 well said, but i believe we must aspire for material success, as it is the only way to fulfill our natural desire to provide for our people. We should aspire to provide for humanity rather than ourselves.

Bro, i just want to thank you for making these videos they have really helped me in finding my peace again. Cheers my brother, sending love from New Zealand homie.
The other day after watching "The Minimalists" on Netflix, I decided to throw out things I have held onto for years, including these rocks I collected at a beach in my family's home country Dominican Republic when I was about 11yrs old. (I'm 27). As I spread them out, I joked to my brother that it looked like it spelled a word-Taoism. I minored in Philosophy but I won't lie I "winged" eastern philosophy, so I wasn't really too familiar with this practice. I'm a firm believer in signs from the universe and as it turns out, this video and others on Taoism have discussed ideas I needed to hear on my current spiritual journey.. transformational ideas. I felt a sensation in my gut watching this video because it spoke not only things I had pondered but brought up solutions for my episodes of depression and existential dread. Life truly is magical and beautiful.. I recommend watching the first episode of "Surviving Death" on Netflix if anyone is into spirituality. I've felt purposeful ever since, (which can be rare for philosophers with depression and PTSD)
Hey dude, just wanted to pop a comment and say I really enjoy your content. Watching your vid on "How to be alone" really made me reconsider a lot of the notions I was laying against myself, and this video did a great job reaffirming many of the Taoist principles I've been falling into lately in a very natural and charming way. Keep up the great work and don't stand on your tip toes, that's a sub from me.
This is amazing in its capacity to heal slowly as it may. Taoism is a state and it is - at least to me - more abstract than religious teachings which impose more concretized ideologies. And yet, Taoism strikes a chord with people because it resonates deep into the human subconscious. I am all for it.
Softness means to be flexible and to adapt easily to new situations, to be the opposite of rigid and stiff. Softness does not make us weak, make us strong.
It's like doing what you are supposed to do whole heartedly and not thinking about the result. Well I think such a gifted content maker as you are, you should also discuss about the philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita. Lots of love and support from India.
Every day I agree more and more with principles, teachings or however you wish to call them, pertaining to the Taoism, Buddhism and Stoicism; I can look back an acknowledge many, many points in my life in which I was grasping for mere illusions. The result? I got frustrated, I got anxious, I got depressed, I got angry, I was these and many other things except one: happy. Because I was striving to belong somewhere I didn't, and now I laugh at my puerile desires of being noticed, of being on the spotlight, of yearning things that I was "supposed to strive for". But now I can acknowledge it as a teaching from the Universe. If I hadn't gone through that, I wouldn't recognize in this moment that I don't want that anymore. Not out of resentment or spite. Simply because I don't wish it, because I've experienced feeling whole by myself, by my own means, by what one may call _useless_ things, indeed. Thank you for this and many other of your amazing videos.
We all do have a gift but not all gifts are seen as such. Be you. Many times we are pushed be someone we are not. Living a simple life can sometimes be us following others ideas. The key is to do what makes YOU feel loved and at peace.
It easier to have a belief than no believe, the world would be much peaceful, if every reglious group, ideology group, have this humble thought, unfortunately human nature cling to power and influence, geopolitics will never this kind of world to come to existence. In fact , the more diverse idea the world possess , the more violent the world will get.

I was always striving for people's validation. I felt useless because i was not smart enough to achieve my goals. People only noticed me if I achieved something while they ignored me if I'm not. Now I realized after I quit my job that I don't need their validation. That I am enough even though I'm "useless". I am at peace when they think I'm useless because I act like I don't know anything so they won't bother me. They'll just use you if you are "useful". After they used you, they'll act like they don't even know you. It's better to be a low profile person.
3:49 I am dealing with this right now. My wife and I started an Etsy account selling my photos. I’m in the stats, checking all the time. Time to let go and let it (the universe) do its thing. ❤
I haven't heard this be compared yet, but a good example of a beneficial natural "do nothing" state, is the bear in the winter. Hibernation can be seen as doing nothing, but in reality, the bear utilizes this inertness to survive in the time where survival is at its hardest, or food is most scarce. By doing nothing, the bear thrives.
I love the story of the crooked tree. I started understanding this to mean be lazy or act disinterested but now I envision in my meditative mind what you said…those with gifted or special talents are often exploited. Then I look inside at my sacred self and imagine all of my own, unique gifts and would I want those exploited? The answer is a resounding no.
The Tao Te Ching is a wonderful gift left to us by an amazing philosopher who understood the truly important things in life. I remember that reading this ancient wisdom & implementing it about 20 years ago changed my perspectives & priorities in life in such an immensely positive way. Combine the teachings of the Tao with the ancient Roman stoic philosophy of Seneca, Marcus Aurelius & Epictetus, and you will have opened a path towards a happier, healthier & more peaceful life. It truly can change your life for the better.
These are very wise words. I live a lot Ike this, yet for some reason I am still experiencing anxiety and other things. I think my subconscious mind might be getting programmed by all the fear garbage we are being flooded with today. And I believe I should focus more on the things said in this video.

Why limit your "capacity of understanding" with a statement like that?? your words have power.
"uselessness can be very useful"
This is quite true.
"Under promise and over deliver". That's exactly the right way to go...even in personal relationships.
Also explains why you eventually win in Overwatch Mystery Heroes despite most players being drooling morons.
I have always been useless my whole life..without any talent or gifts..but today I'm the happiest of all ❤️
5:40 after I stopped playing the violin as a kid, I remember always being told that I could’ve been a master at my age or how I’m not productive like my other relatives who could afford clubs and sports.
All my life I have been rushing and striving, it's time to stop and realize that there is more to life. Thank you for this realization.
The water part explained beautifully....softness is slow but it's power should NEVER be underestimated .. thanks
As a chinese, i love taoism so much.
I'm not chinese, but I can't wait to get to this subject in my studies!
A Taoist would not ‘love’ Taoism.
dharmabeachbum yet it appears Taoism is a form of love....🧐

As chapter 67 in the Tao says, remember your three great strengths: simplicity, patience, and compassion. These are your greatest treasure.
Been feeling down lately, stopped working out, stopped practicing my martial arts, eating like shit and my mental health is taking a hit. I come back to these videos about the Tao to help me back on track. Starting over again today.
The Taoist are right excessive focus on gain produces anxiety and depression. We are programmed to live this way. Embracing softness isn't easy but is achievable and really works. Patience and living in the moment are worth the good results. Thanks 😊👍🙏😌
I don't have the correct words to express how grateful I am that I get to watch your videos.
Recently I've been over stretching my discipline, been inpatient and I've been grasping on to external happiness.
Thanks for shining light on the right path man, appreciate it 😌🙏
Keep doing what you're doing👍👏🌅
Life is really simple, but men insist on making it complicated.

Thanks!
Thank you, Wandering Biku!
I find this so beautiful! I'm really glad that UA-cam has recommended me this channel. The wisdom you share is said in such a way that we can learn from it without having to feel guilty or otherwise bad about past mistakes.
*Don't strive for anything, be soft and useless, go with the flow.*
I've been following this great Taoist philosophy my whole life!
I watch these in the background when I get home after a long nightshift and they are very nice
Einzelgänger, gratitude from Portugal!
And from Australia too
And Spain also :)
I was born in the fifties in the US. The culture than according to my parents was that idleness and laziness was a sin. They did not tolerate any kind of daydreaming or just doing nothing. The result is I am a nervous perfectionist. I am now almost 70 and I try every day to break my patterns and follow the TAO.
Thanks so much for this video! I’ve been stressing over getting acceptance into a masters program that I’ve been working towards for over five years now. And I’ve been so preoccupied with how old I will be once I get into the program, that I’ve been rushing things. Thank you for the wonderful reminder to be patient and to stop trying to control everything.
"Two things are infinite. The universe and human stupidity. And I'm not so sure about the universe." -- Albert Einstein
Seriously one of the best channels on UA-cam.
Always reminding us, just chill, control what you can to find your happiness, and deal with what you can't control only when it arrives infront of you.
🙏❣️
After listening to Alan Watts's lectures and reading Lau Tzu's Tao Te Ching, I couldn't find any other person's words on the nature of the universe engaging enough to listen to until I found you. So, thank you for creating these awesome videos.
Thank you, Reza :)
Me too ! And so many wonderful mates over here !!
I am sometimes amazed at how different the values or modern society actually are to true wisdom. We all live on tiptoes - when actually it’s ok to be the crooked tree. Thank you again.
Love your insight!
Simple living is such a beautiful life. Its a shame most will never know it.
Absolutely John, cause it means that you have a lot of time - time to make existential things w e l l done !
This message seeped into me to the cellular level. Its level of resonates is off the charts. Thank you times infinity ;)
Meditation really helps to bring inner peace🌿it feels so good when you reach a harmonious place within. It feels good when you can appreciate other's achievements and help other's without judgment or expectations 🌿may peace shine upon everyone
Love this series. I listen to some of them several times and each time learn something new and different. Good wisdom!
I love your words and the way you Express yourself...
I am an introvert who feels everything in life...
Thank you for your time and energy...
I absolutely love this content. You did an excellent job in production as well. Thank you for providing such an insightful and quality video.
Opening my mind to other thoughts and beliefs has added to my search for inner peace. I've listened to many things but nothing inspired me. Your voice is so kind . And everything you said made so much sense and I feel that this way of life is my true nature. I hope to hear more😊 thank you
Einzelganger, your work is amazing! Thank you for sharing your insights and gifts.
Maaaaaaan this is really what I needed in this life of non stop hustle.
I love this video, been watching it 3 days in a row to remind my self...
This is the best channel of its kind. Clear, concise and well delivered. None of the pretentious new age twaddle and overwhelming music that is typical of similar videos. Refreshing, insightful and inspiring
Wow you are a natural psychologist. I can tell by your videos. Thanks for your commitment to putting them out there. You are helping people far more than you can imagine, a bit like this video, planting and watching the tree grow
Thank you for posting. This is so timely for all those who are sequestered at home. Be well and happy!
Thanks! 😊👍
Brilliant video, I love the bit about the useless tree, so good.
Bro, i just want to thank you for making these videos they have really helped me in finding my peace again. Cheers my brother, sending love from New Zealand homie.
thank you so much to all the creators involved in making this video
I love these videos of yours, thank you! I'm a little slow so I find you talk very fast and have to rewatch but wonderful.
Just as what I thought. Be like water, just flow. Thank you, I needed this.
Thank you.I try to practice this. I have been telling my children this for years.
I closed my eyes and just listened. Very mediative. Thank you.
Had a marathon of these videos today. So enlightened right now.
Softness, patience perhaps my toughest ones. Makes us vulnerable and come people to take advantage.
Softness and patience do not make you vulnerable. Water is soft, but a tidal wave can pack a punch.
He meant to be slow and steady instead of rushing. Patient meant perseverance and not looking for immediate gratification.
I am really enjoying learning more about eastern philosophy.
Stress is root of all dis-ease. Embrace now, the gift🎁of the present⚘
thank you for the deep wisdom you share with us and so you help us
Your voice makes me feel warm.
If no one has told you this before I will tell you now you are beautiful and I love you’re special and unique
This is a lot better than listening to the news.
We all do have a gift but not all gifts are seen as such. Be you. Many times we are pushed be someone we are not. Living a simple life can sometimes be us following others ideas. The key is to do what makes YOU feel loved and at peace.
Yesssss, uselessness of me can become a reason for my survival🙏❤🙏
"The Tao is ungraspable.
How can the Master's mind be at one with it?
Because he doesn't cling to ideas."
Thank you for this!! Taoist philosophy came into my life very recently and your channel helped me understand it. I really wanted to watch another video about the Tao, and here it is!!
Saludos desde Argentina :)
Thank you for helping me to understand the flow state better. I am very grateful.
Great message.
Beautiful ending.
Fantastic as always.
Thank you Sir.
I love your videos and I think that your voice matches the content perfectly. The tone and the rythm transmits peace and calm. Thanks for the videos and the knowledge in them.
Jesus addressed this with this: "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered by many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary had chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her. " Luke 10:41
julie wolf great example.
I really love the wisdom of Tao. Thank you so much for this video.
Kinhin, thank you, Spread love everywhere you go
Thank you for your mindful videos.....you have no idea how much they mean to me...im trying my best to understand my inner deamons and makimg peace with them...i think thats the key to inner peace
thank u for Giving...E❣️❣️❤🙏
Thank you for sharing
The quiet mind.
Bless you, bro, or rather you who comes before thought. These videos are so refreshing. I love and thank you
3:49 I am dealing with this right now.
Perfect timing for my life. Flow. Just flow.
This channel deserves more attention!
this is really beautiful! I appreciate what you are doing here ❤
Thank you! You've helped me a lot with your videos! Positive vibes from Costa Rica
Wonderful, brilliant words. Thanks very much.
These are very wise words. I live a lot Ike this, yet for some reason I am still experiencing anxiety and other things. I think my subconscious mind might be getting programmed by all the fear garbage we are being flooded with today. And I believe I should focus more on the things said in this video.
Very interesting short Video! Thanks for sharing. Lot of wisdom to live in peace.
I love and respect Taoism so much I’m so glad I started studying it thanks to this amazing channel thank you so much 🙏🏽 and I hope life flows well for everyone into the ocean of existence 🙏🏽🌊🌊
Truly brilliant. Happy to learn new things
What a GREAT channel you have put together.Thank you friend.

Thank you Einzelganger for making a great video to use the Taoist Wisdom knowledge to understand today' world. Hopefully we learnt the wisdom to make everyone for having a better life....
Thank you for the Wisdom. "If men followed the Holy Counsels and the Teachings of the Prophets, if Divine Light shone in all hearts and men were really religious, we should soon see peace on earth and the Kingdom of God among men." ~ Abdul-Baha, Baha'i Faith
