    On Sunday, Nick Dunlap became the first amateur player to win a PGA Tour event in 33 years! The University of Alabama sophomore also won the 2023 US Amateur and the 2021 US Junior Amateur championships... in other words, he's got a very bright future!
    The last player to accomplish this feat was Phil Mickelson, and so in today's video we're going to compare their swings to see what we can learn.
    Phil Mickelson is one of the most talented players we've seen, and while his swing has worked great for him, it's not one I would recommend most amateurs emulate.

    Cameron Smith does it like Phil and Vijay....stable body more ROC on the clubface vs more stable clubface and more rotary pivot. Amazing.

    I think the frame at 3:25 pretty much sums up Dunlap's great swing....right elbow is touching the hip while the club is parallel to the ground and you see both of his back pockets...what a great turn toward the target!! I did not take up golf until late in life and although my swing was probably not tour quality, it allowed me to win and place good in quite a few senior amateur tournaments. The secret to me was being able to keep flexibility through the years....I worked at that aspect and tried to keep the swing tight and compact which I think helped the lower body do the work. You do a great breakdown of what happens in the swing!! After I bought your ballstriking blueprint, I told my friends you explained the golf swing better than anyone I had ever heard. Health problems have kept me away a couple of years, but I hope to get back out this year and keep your tips in mind...thanks!!!

    Great video. I have been fighting a steep shaft in the downswing and let me tell you feel versus real is truly a thing according to me videoing my swing. Anyways, one thing nobody talks about is when does the right arm start to straightening in the downswing?

    • @ZachAllenGolf
      @ZachAllenGolf  2 місяці тому +1

      Just after the club transitions. Well I should say it try’s to straighten during transition, but when measured the weight of the club still traveling back hold it steady for a moment.

      @@ZachAllenGolf thanks so much for the reply. I just found one of your videos called. What should my right arm do and watch that which explained it pretty well? Thanks again!

    Brilliantly described! I can comfortably achieve this with shorter clubs however, it makes it difficult to get enough height and launch for me. For context, I’m a 5hcp with a driver club head speed of around 103mph. To strike the balance of being able to do this whilst hitting an optimal trajectory is difficult. I’d love to know your thoughts on how to make this movement whilst ensuring not to overly-deloft the club. Could be a great video with the hack motion.
    I assume release pattern and its timing, and/or choice of shot pattern would be relevant among other factors? 🤔

    • @ZachAllenGolf
      @ZachAllenGolf  3 місяці тому +1

      Wow that is a great point. And you are right, to be able to launch a flighted wedge, then on the next shot bomb a high launching drive, does take some very educated hands and wrists. Definitely not the same impact conditions.

      @Chris_Traynor 3 місяці тому

      @@ZachAllenGolf I’m glad to hear you confirm that, so now I know I’m not going mad!🙃 I know you’ve got a great video on the difference between driver and irons, but would be super-cool to see the difference in shots on the Hackmotion. I can’t be the only one excited to see that.

    Can seniors still learn this? Do you have a Champions tour example?

    • @ZachAllenGolf
      @ZachAllenGolf  3 місяці тому +1

      That would be a good video, does require some practice. Many examples on the champions tour.

    • @George1mac
      @George1mac 3 місяці тому

      I will definitely say yes but as Zach says, it takes some practice and in my opinion some work with flexibility. I did not really start playing seriously until age 50 as elbow problems started with me at age 42 and at that age I sucked at golf...once I started at age 50, I worked on flexibility and concentrated on making the swing tight plus most of practice was short game. It is doable and IMHO Zach explains better than anyone. Good Luck!!
