Original video: • NIGHTWISH - Ever Dream...
PLEASE DON'T THINK I WAS MAKING FUN OF THE CROWD SURFING DUDE. He is at an amazing concert and good on him for living his best life and crowd surfing. He caught me off guard at the beginning of the video and I attempted to make it comedic, which it may not have come across that way. My disposition towards new music is always positive and I do not attempt to take away from anything I react to. I only attempt to give an honest reaction and then discuss things that caught my ear musically, especially drums. So again, I apologize if I came across harsh, it was not intentional and I'm super jealous he got to see Nightwish LIVE while I'm stuck here watching through a screen :D
Your channel, your journey keep it going at your own pace. Top channel if I may say so. The breakdowns are just worth it alone.
please don't walk on your toes. NW army is an nice one :D English is not my first language, and as a muscisian (guitar) I am very interested in other muscisans opinion. Would it be possible to turn on the subs? In English. So I don't miss a word :)

@@monicacarolina6480 I am in progress of making full subtitles for each video. It may be of no use now, but I hope they help when I am able to get them fully completed. Thank you so much Monica!
WTF? never watched his Feet, till you brought it up! And i am fully on your Side. Ground was Hard and dusty 3 Days 30 degrees centigrade, no rain, then it set in like end of the world, did come down like monsum for 20 Minutes, god of Lamb was mainstage, and everyone was running to the campingrounds. Dozen of Fliflops and other Sandals etc were in the mud along the Track:) First Rule on an Festival: always got your boots at Hand, no Matter the Weather. If not, you can also Journey Home at once, my 5 Cents.
SO, he obviously is one of the Flipfloplooser of this Day back then.
Stay Healthy
Master, Passion , Greed!
That song will lovingly melt your face off… 😎🙌🏻😂🤣😂
When Jukka had to leave for health reasons, he recommended his friend Kai to replace him and Kai is also a beast on the drums. Also known as the human metronome. You'll see him in other videos.
Marco’s voice is great “The Islander” from Tampere, “High Hopes” and “Phantom of the Opera” all are great. “Ghost River” and “Wish I had an Angel” from Wacken also good Marco songs
Also kiss while your lips are still red from Wembley 2015 is a great ballard from Marko.
And Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires.
Slaying the Dreamer too.
Also Tarot, his power metal band before Nightwish his solo album and all his guest appearances on other people's albums and concerts.
I hope everyone has been enjoying the videos as of late! I"m working very hard on a few different things along with school and family so just be patient with me! I try to post a reaction every other day at 6pm CST or before. Please visit the Community section to vote on my next reaction video as well as see important updates on the channel! TY so much for joining me in my journey and I'll see you in the next one!
Wait til you.hear/see Kai Hahto on drums! He was Jukka's mentor and took over in 2015.
Great reaction
The last minute of Everdream, with the double bass drum and music intensity, is like a runaway steam train with Floor as the conductor and the guys stoking that boiler 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
PERFECT DESCRIPTION!
These people love their music they are a group and leave their ego at the door got to love it God bless
Floor has said that this song is one of the more challenging for her to sing.
If we haven't already told you, all their songs seem shorter than they actually are. lol
The K.I.S.S. theory applies to a lot more that drumming, I was in electronics in the military, and we used it there.
Yep, that's Marko on bass and vocals. Funny you mentioned 'Phantom of he Opera', Nightwish has covered that with Marko and Tarja on vocals. See the 2005 Helsinki show (End of an Era) to watch it, and you'll like Jukka in that as well. Marko was lead singer of a metal band called Tarot(formed 1982) before joining Nightwish.
I used to coach Peewee Football...The K.I.S.S method won me a lot of games
I agree! You can only spice it up so much before it's toooo spicy :D I also saw that thumbnail browsing after I made the video. Definitely one I'm going to be checking out! Thanks Chris!
I use KISS method while making love
@@IronSmokeLTD looks forward to seeing you check out Phantom. Other songs that mainly feature Marco are, The Islander, While Your Lips are Still Red and High Hopes (Pink Floyd tribute).
The Islander was written by Marco, but he felt it wouldn't fit with Tarot. I actually recommend a double reaction to this one. The music video and the live at Tampere versions.
Their tribute to Pink Floyd with High Hopes is crazy good. As a long time Pink Floyd fan, I totally approve of Nightwish's version.
Good one!
As suggested before. High Hopes, Pink Floyd tribute is a must. Markko on vocals.
Great reaction! Yes your right Drumming also every instrument is structured for the track by Tuomas Holopainen with just enough of each instrument when needed and the drum drives in the right direction with just enough imput when needed always complimenting Floors vocals, Empu does whats needed when called for, also Marco has one hell of a solid voice and drive with the bass all combined with Tuomas skills in composing, keyboards etc plus writing you have one tight solid band, All top of thier game IMO. On another note Troy Donockle will ad some more interest when he arrives on later tracks. Enjoy!
Thanks a bunch Mick!
You mentioned stamina and that made me think of 'Last ride of the day', the final song of the set. A wonderful piece of music, I personally find it quite powerful. Marco has singing parts on it too :)
Heck yes! Thank you for watching!
I just watched the Imaginarium movie. The orchestral with bagpipes Last Ride near the end is a tear enducing experience.
Oh yes, certainly! I watched the movie quite recently and have been listening to the soundtrack a fair bit. I believe the track is called I Have To Let You Go on that :)
Dark Chest of Wonders 2013 and Tribal at Hellfest 2022, telling ya man as a drummer.
Excellent reaction. I think Kai Haito, current Nightwish, Wintersun, and Darkwoods My Betrothed drummer had the best comment about what you call the KISS technique. When asked why he didn't do the wild and extravagant drumming with Nightwish that he was famous for with Wintersun, he replied; "It's not what you can do. it is what the song requires."
Very well dictated from Kai. I love how respectful to the craft all of them are! Thanks Alan!
You need to check out Sabaton Floor’s husband is the drummer
Marcos singing is great. A band with two lead singers, and the drummer is a beast, really good.
I see that you watched Kia in Wintersun, but watch this version --- Kai Hahto performing Wintersun - Sons Of Winter And Stars (Drum Playthrough) He is a MACHINE>
You hit quite a few nails on their respective heads, with this reaction. You picked up on the fact that Nightwish aren't about showing off; it's all about the song. Every member is at the top of their craft. A perfect example is wee Emppu. He can shred with the best of them when he wants, but rarely does. Even when he does, it's still melodic and tuneful, with a gorgeous tone from guitar. Like you point out, when some guitarists shred, it seems to be about how many notes they can cram into a line, and sounds chaotic. Not here.
Boy are you in for a treat, regarding Marko. Like Floor, he is incredibly versatile with his vocals. Something which you will discover as you continue to dive into Nightwish.
Oh, and funny you should mention Phantom of the Opera! ;-)
An earlier Tarja era performance from Nightwish, with Marko duetting with Tarja.

And here's another example of Marko's vocal prowess. It's Nightwish's version of the Pink Floyd classic, High Hopes:

I put these up more for your listening pleasure, but if you want to do a reaction to them, feel free! 🙂
Totally need reactions to these.
@@horseshoe_nc I was kinda hoping you would say that! ;-) I forgot to mention, High Hopes has 2 stunning guitar solos from Emppu.
I concur.
Art, not ego.
Marko is an insane good singer. He sings sweet folk songs with his beautiful tenor sound, he can yell as a beast. Please watch the cover they did of Pink Floyds "High hopes". They don't call it a cover, but tribute. It is insane, also instrumental and drums. You willl love it (only Marko sings) First listen to the original if you don't know it...and see what NW does with it!
@IronSmokeLTD If you want more good Marco sounds, check out The Islander and his Pink Floyd cover of High Hopes.
Floor looks like a Norwegian Princess up there. With the voice of an angel.
" Ever Dream " is the sixth single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. Released as the first single from the band's fourth studio album, Century Child, it was the group's first single in two years, following " Deep Silent Complete " in 2000.
The song is more operatic in nature than later works and the music itself is more on the heavy metal side. It is still played live since 2002 until today. "Ever Dream" was certified with Gold Disc in Finland two days after its release, with more than 5,000 copies sold, and later received Platinum Disc with more than 10,000 copies sold.
tip for your next video : Epica - Sancta Terra (feat Floor Jansen) Live Retrospect show .
Floor & Simone are best friends together and two beautiful Dutch metal singers together .
As you mentioned "Phantom of the Opera" - Do you know that Nightwish has a version of that? It is not with Floor, but with Tarja Turunen, their original singer. Both Marco and Tarja shine there - go for it!
Floor does also have Phantom of the Opera in her repertoire, but not together with Marko. She sang it together with Henk Poort, the original Phantom in the Netherlands.
The version of Phantom of the Opera with Tarja is a great introduction to her as a singer, it's a really amazing rendition!
Agreed. Marco really shines as a creepy phantom. I love his rendition of that part.
Thank you!!!!!
The only song I listen Tarja's version 😍 Not a Tarja fan but in that one she really shines!
@@helky8 how about "Sleeping Sun" ? That is the one I always associate with Tarja.
Bro this band are LIVE not from this world ,Best live band i have seen 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 And i am 70.
I have found this song as heart healing for me ❤not ever having a woman I so loved 💔I'm okay now. But man I love that Jukka's double kicking there and his drumming style in general💘🤘🥁 I miss Jukka 😥
All tough times pass! Thank you for watching! There will definitely be more Jukka soon!
I often wonder if people hearing this for the first time take the very first line wrong "Would you do it with me" before hearing the next verse. I guess I'm just a dirty minded dude. Good reaction!
You know Marco has got a huge career outside of NW...you should check it out. The man is a helluva musician and singer!
IM ON IT!! Thanks Gene!
It's like watching Animal out of 'The Muppets'!! lol. Watching you, you really are an instinctive and naturally-gifted drummer. Great reaction
Thanks Kevin!!!
Nightwish's live cover of Phantom of The Opera with Marko and the band's first of three great sopranos, Tarja Turunen, is amazing and showcases his skill and hers.
I still want a slow piano and voice duet version of Ever Dream.
Thank you so much for the insight into how the drummer performs... the NW drummers BLOW MY MIND. I don't know how they do it so that's why I wanted to check out a drummer reacting. I appreciated how you went through the song once and then again pointing out specific sections.
I love it that you think the songs are over so quickly, shows that you truly appreciate them. Keep going brother, lots more masterpieces to sink your Nightfangs into 😀
Nightfangs!!! I LOVE THAT. Thanks Jasper!
This is one of the songs I prefer the first lead singer Tarja over Floor. There is something that Tarja has where she plays the pauses just a bit more and has that haunting sound to her voice. I love Floor and what she brings to Nightwish, but there are some songs that I would rather hear Tarja over Floor.....probably because I have been listening to Nightwish for such a long time. As for that build up at the beginning of the song check out how it is done when Tarja sings it.
6:55 Jukka "the drumer" is in the hous!!!! 7:05 Jukka starts the engine(double bass drum)
and floor is unstoppable the light show goes on...
i love the drums
Thanx for analytic and entertaining video, i subscribed your channel 🙂
Another good reaction. Ready to see something from a different show that goes a little harder? Check out Yours is an Empty Hope from Wembley 2015. Listen carefully. It will blow your mind again. Kai on drums. You can also check out Marko doing Phantom of the Opera with Nightwish, 2005, with Tarja, the original lead singer. Keep exploring Nightwish!
Welcome to the Nightwish army. Just do yourself a favor watch the entire Wacken 2013 concert Nightwish tells a story when they do a concert you gotta hear the whole thing.
Fully agree with the KISS principle. Especially when drumming. I'm a firm believer in playing what the song needs as opposed to what you can play.
My first big influence was Cozy Powell. He had the chops but he could also just hold the backbeat when required.
He did sing Phantom of the Opera with Tarja
WOW awesome description at the beginning!
Trying to put a bit more work into it Thomas! Thanks for watching!
Not only a fellow drummer, but a fellow Texan? Well, howdy! Great reaction. @IronSmoke!
Howdy Richard! Weathers been very nice lately! Thank you for watching!!!
@@IronSmokeLTD Indeed it has. McAllen hasn't had any 100s for a couple of weeks now!
@@richardgivens2422 Stay cool and hope to see you in the next one!!!!
LMAO your description of how it feels to encounter Nightwish. 🤣
We get it!
Singers sing what they can.
Floor sings what she wants❤
Yours is an empty hope live from mexico is a must 🤘
You talked about Marcos voice and mentioned Phantom of the opera, vell then you should check out Nightwich with phantom of opera at END of an era consert😎🤘🤘I think IT is from 2005, Wien Tarja Turunen was thire lead singer.
🤘🤘👍👍
Another excellent reaction! You mentioned the KISS principle. These guys are experts on doing just enough to make it epic, without doing too much.
Glad to see you! Thank you for watching!
You mentioned that Marco singing has a “Phantom of the Opera” vibe to it. Nightwish actually performed Phantom of the Opera when their original vocalist, Tarja (Tar-ya) was still with them. Marco was really strong as the male part of that classic duet. Just search for “Nightwish Phantom of” and you’ll find it. 😉🤟🏻👍🏻
You should react to Marco sing Phanton of the Opera with Nightwish with their first singer before Floor, Tarja.
Great! Some drum analysis is always nice, and when there is Nightwis it has to be watched!👍🏼😎
I would like to hear your thoughts about one of the fastest drumming songs by Nightwish: "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" and it would be really interesting if you made it a comparison between the Decades-tour live version in Buenos Aires and the album version. Kai plays the drums in live and Jukka on the album. Allso the deep male vocals wre originally recorded by Tapio Wilska but later on Marco took care of those live. They are two very different interpretations of the masterpiece.
Keep up with the good work!🤘🏼
thankyouthankyou!!!
Another nice reaction. Everdream is a great song. This song sure does require stamina from everyone. This used to be the hardest song for Floor to sing, but then came Shoemaker. As for suggestions.. still haven't seen my last one: Weak Fantasy (Tampere 2015) 😉
Another song that is relentless is Shudder before the Beautiful - Wembley 2015
I have weak fantasy on my radar Raven!!!! Not the next one but SOON!!
I really love your reactions; I love watching your energy and your joy.
Ohhh, wait, Phantom of the Opera?! I am sure it is on your list, but you must listen to the Nightwish version, with their first singer Tarja.
Debating if it should be a video or not, I'm DYING to watch it. Even though I have metal roots, I do love a couple different musicals. Les Miserables' is my all time favorite!
@@IronSmokeLTD I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Hey in your opening you said this song "was" great....... Does that mean that you watch the video ahead of time and then watched it again during your reaction? I hope that's not the case I don't think it is with you because all of your reactions have seen very raw and genuine, I don't know about anybody else but if I knew a reactor had already seen the video going into the reaction I wouldn't even watch it but that's just me I'm a tad old school and stubborn but I got to be me!!!!
THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I WATCHED IT!! lol I had to redo my intro because I messed a few things up and figured it wouldnt be a big deal. Im VERY transparent!! If I have seen anything beforehand, Ill MAKE SURE I let you guys know about it!
@@IronSmokeLTD awesome and I appreciate you commenting as quickly as you just did! I'm glad because it makes the reactions better if it's a first time and I'm going to echo what I said in another reaction plus I read it down below you should definitely react to sabaton because floors husband is the drummer I know you've heard this a bunch of times now LOL but I think you will like them anyway they are very high energy great lyrics one of the most unique lead singers I've ever seen who is just a great guy and plus he just runs around stage and has a great time!!
I've got some good stuff planned pending my current poll in the community section! If I commit, the next video should surprise you :) Thanks again for watching and ALWAYS feel free to leave feedback or suggestions! SABATON IS COMING SOON SCOTT!! :D
@@IronSmokeLTD very nice! That's great to hear! I think you're also going to love from the same concert here is a song called "she is my sin".. I absolutely love the drumming in that one also
🤩👌💥💯
Quite often 'less is more'.
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
YESSS!
Nightwish, Wacken , Germany , Live :)
try Song of myself (sure from wacken, it is always a pleasure to see Jukka), a sort of mix of ligtht and heavy)
💜 Marco when I bought my tickets in August 2021 for the May 2022 show he had not announced he was leaving the band , I was super sad but the show was still phenomenal ! Sooner or later you will meet Troy 🎶🤘 . Thank for more Nightwish !
Plenty more to come!!! Thank you!
started with drummers with buddy rich, # dad, but have seen the best rock bands since. am 70 and Jukka best in my opinion.
Hell yeah! Thanks for watching Richard!
You wanna hear more Marco, 2 tracks should be on your radar dude, Phantom of the Opera and High Hopes. Check em out bro (Jukka is a beast on the High Hopes track)
Ultimate Marco - High Hopes from Hartwall Arena 2005.
More drums, Weak Fantasy from Tampere, Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires
Really miss the way Jukka would give a 3/4 lead in....Absolutely nothing against Kai...who in his own right is an absolute tempo/human metronomed beast!
Jukka has flair...Kai has technique...
Great Upload! 🤘
Hey, Smoke. I'm loving your reactions from a drummer's point of view. Jukka is one of my all-time favorites based upon how he attacks his kit as if it has really pissed him off. It was sad to lose him but he had to step away into a management position with the band due to severe insomnia. However, he recommended Kai Hahto from Wintersun, the man who he had trained under, to be his replacement. And while Kai doesn't exactly have Jukka's flare, he is an incredible drummer. You might want to check out some of his drum-cam videos with Nightwish and Wintersun. Keep the Nightwish coming.
Plenty more to come! Thanks for the kind words Richard!!!
nightwish is my number 3 best band sabaton epica nightwish
IM LOVING THEM!!!
@@IronSmokeLTD dude crypta is for you jus wait
I'm a Nightwish fan enjoying your vidios, but I just want to say that I'm also a Dream Theater fan, a band that every drummer should be familiar with. If you're not, then that's a must for future videos.
His cymbal setup is NUTZ!
Okay don't get mad at me I'm still listening to your intro........ You were talking about drumming and Jukka and you said he definitely delivered in this one but that was in your intro you're talking about the video in past tense before your reaction so yeah I'm getting the idea that you've already seen the video and then when you do the reaction yeah you've already seen it so can you let me know if that's the case? I'm just curious
I hope I didnt come off like that!!!!! LOL I just want to be as upfront and honest as I can! Thank you very much for watching Scott!!!!
The intro of the video and reaction were filmed separately! I cut them together after I have made sure it congeals properly!
😊🇫🇮❤️🎼✨💙🤘
HEY! Thanks for watching!!!
Jukka is a Beast
Agreed!
Man great reaction. Love it. If you liked this song you should react on GHOST LOVE SCORE it will blow your mind. They have amazing music.

Great description with the light beaming in your nostrils. Hahaha.
Glad you liked it!
Jukka's dbl bass at the end is sickness lol
sorry, English is not native to me, did you mention their version of Phantom of the opera or just this musicle in general? In case you haven't heard their you'd better watch/see, Marko there shows his range (and performance abilities in general), also there is Tarja, who is different but also awesome vocalist. P.s. Marko is a basist.
It reminded me of it! I need to listen to their version!
@@IronSmokeLTD indeed, there are a plenty of reasons. Get ready for holywar rised about which vocalist is the best, but I feel it inappropriate and irrespectfull (despite I used to be such a foolish Nightwish fan when Tarja left the band). So. just pick up Phantom of the Opera from End of Era concert, 2005 (the last with Tarja)
Hello, you need to react to "Lorna Shora" Into the hellfire" and enjoy.
I WISH I HADN'T HEARD IT ALREADY!!!! My genuine reaction to that song would have been GREAAAATTTT lolol I still remember when I first heard it :D
I can recommend you something little bit different...Eugene Ryabchenko - Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Violation (cover) this guy is another level to...And now he is official drummer for Fleshgod Apocalypse.
Checkin him out now!! Thanks Adrian!
"I'm not gonna judge him, but.....", then proceeds to judge him.
I just dont want him to get sick lol! I thought he had on those skin tight rubber shoes at first! He's having fun!

do you beleive in love at first sight not you Crypta live at wacken 2022
Listen the music domt stop

And there you go folks. Hard core men believing in Angels? Serious?
LOL!!! Thanks!!
from an old fart. Why do modern heavy metal fans ward off the "evil eye" all the time. Yer, that weird two finger up gesture. It was used to ward off the evil eye. What is the connection with music?
Ronnie James Dio, then frontman and vocalist of the band Black Sabbath, popularized the gesture during concerts. He was indeed inspired by the religious significance of the gesture, having seen his Italian grandmother do it. He decided to use it to connect with fans in the same manner that Ozzy Osborne, the previous vocalist of the band, used the "Peace" symbol for the same purpose but didn't want to copy him.
The gesture was adopted by Rock/Heavy Metal in general after being used by Dio.
