So glad to see Annie teamed up with the Fat Quarter shop! For all of you who don't know Annie, she's one of the best teachers I've had; so far, everything she says is just plain right on! I first "met" her on a Craftsy class, now I've taken all her classes and even have entered one of her bags (The Ultimate Travel Bag) in this year's county fair. Can you tell I'm a fan?
I own the ByAnnie stiletto and I absolutely love it and now almost feel naked without it in my hand while sewing. The ground end on pointy side like she mentioned in the video is the perfect design detail in order to grip onto your fabric
My goodness Annie, you're amazing. What a great teacher you are. Thank you. I just purchased your Project Bag pattern and I can't wait to get started. I am going to purchase you zippers now!
Yes! I need these zippers in my life. I make quite a few bags and avoid zippered ones because of the whole zipper foot changing and the bulk that you have to be careful of while sewing a quilted bag with a standard zipper. I have only ever found double pull zippers in black. Cannot wait to visit your website and shop. Thank you!
Yes....I have seen her on Craftsy....haven't taken a class yet, but by watching this video I'm going to have to slow her down.....LOL. Learning a lot about zippers though!
My tips for vinly: I actually sew vinyl with the paper, sewing right through it. It's easy to tear it away after it's sewn. Also, don't use anything smaller than 2.5-3.0 stitch length or you will perforate it and it will tear at the seam.
I too took her class for the Ultimate Travel Bag on Craftsy and she is a GREAT teacher! Her zippers are fabulous! And I see that the FQS offers them at a better price then Annie's website (GOOD TO KNOW!) And yes, buy the double 30" double pull zipper and when you cut them, you'll have two zippers for a little bit more than the price for one.
Both bags are made with Art Gallery fabrics although I don't have the exact collection/skus available. Here is a link to their fabrics: www.fatquartershop.com/art-gallery-fabrics
That vinyl is available at Walmart on rolls and you can decide on the thickness that you might want to use. Definitely cost a lot less than through any other place.
I could not be more loss. Ugh. So if I use a 22" YKK zipper on the Open Wide 2.0 bag, (making the large size where an 18" zipper was recommended, I sew the zipper on first, then, I cut off the extra length?? Would be nice to see a more completed video.
Thank you for your tutorial, when I sew a zipper on the top of a pounch, and sew everythink together it doesn't look nice because it pinch both ends , is there a way to get it nicer? Thanks.
I've slowed her down to 75% and I was just with a teacher showing us how to do the Annie zippers--even so, like her patterns, I find she goes too fast and so it's hard to follow. The results are really nice--but I don't know how I'll do without someone walking me through each step.
All your instructions seem to show only one side of installing a zipper. The harder part to understand is how to install the other side of the zipper. Can you point me to a video that shows also how to finish the zipper and sew the second side of the zipper in.

Thanks Wandering Wife! That's a great and easy and cheap tip! I will certainly give it a try.
Excellent tutorial. More Annie projects!

Luv Pugz! She has four Craftsy classes! Search for Annie Unrein on the Craftsy website and you should find them.

Fat Quarter Shop Thank you!
Love the video! Thanks! Do you carry the clear plastic for bags?
We actually don't but you can purchase directly from Annie here: www.byannie.com/shop/product/vinyl-16x54/

Reminder: these are FREE to everybody and it is her earning. The only proper response is "Thank you."
where have you been all my life You had me at zippers I have a fear for zippers
Lots of good information. But please, less wide views and more close-ups!
This helped me a lot!!!
Use your stillito tool to remlve thw paper from the tape.
I've subscribed
how about how to add a zippered center divider to a purse
What is the suggested stitch length when sewing the binder and mesh together?
Hello Rose! We recommend 2 to 2.5.
@@FatQuarterShopTX Thank you
Do you know where the vinyl is found in Wal-Mart?
In the fabric section, it's on rolls with the picnic table fabric.
Thank you for your tutorial, when I sew a zipper on the top of a pounch, and sew everythink together it doesn't look nice because it pinch both ends , is there a way to get it nicer? Thanks.
Yes email me and I will show you a link to a tutorial
I would like to see this video as well, what email address do I send my request to?
This is so hard to do I don't know why they make zippers this hard to put back together 😟
Great tutorial, HATE the music being played !
Showing how to install on one fabric then switches to something different - finding it so confusing

Rewind us good! I watch over and over.

Hello Carolyn! We have a video with Minki Kim where she shows how to do both sides ua-cam.com/video/oMrVDOWVa70/v-deo.html
To be fair, these are not her detailed tutorials. These are more like previews or overviews.
Annie, please lose the music! Annoying!
I'm sure there was lots of good information but I couldn't finish video because of the awful music.
I'm sick of cutting zippers and attaching a zipper pull; there are much better techniques.
Would you mind sharing some of those techniques please
I’m loving this except for that awful “music”! Did someone forget to turn it off? Sure wish you would eliminate that.
You need to stop the music in the background it is very distracting and hard to listen to the instructions .
