Adding overland difficulty options is such a huge win if they can deliver it. This game has the most beautiful zones with the most brain dead easy combat encounters
I actually like exploring and not like, getting killed by a random wolf after playing for years, but okay, you guys get what you wished for, better not hear complaining.
@@palmtree5489 for real I can go in the middle of a pack and legitimately cook a 5 star meal before my character would die in game. ESO overland might actually be the easiest game on the market atm
@@palmtree5489 Do not forget that this is a consequence of "One Tamriel" - it was quite different when the zones still had levels. But personally I think it is ok that way. If you look for a challenge you have other options like dungeons and trials. And think about it - defeating Molag Bal, assisting Vivec and then dying from a Mudcrab bite would be silly, too. ESO is no survival game and should not be. Just my 2 cents.
@dragonchild_SC 100% But its a snoozefest atm A nice middle ground of challenging, fun and chill would be perfect. Im not asking to have intense fights against mudcrabs or whatever, but currently its just a snoozefest. Theres literally no challenge, apart from world bosses, who (if you played the game for roundabout ~50 hours, and you know how to fight/rotate) Are also just easy.. Im not asking for dark souls, but a little more challenge, no you shouldnt be dead in seconds, but give me at least an incentive to even use my abilities and learn how to properly cycle thru my front and back bar. The fact that you can easily take down world bosses solo, with a bit of knowledge... Yeah, i hope they make it more challenging, but not 2014 levels of challenge.
@@crystallinecrow3365 Ahh I see. "Seasons" and a "battle pass" are different things, but I can totally see how people might think that they are essentially one and the same given how the two relate to one another in other genres of games. I believe that a majority of MMOs that follow the "Seasons" model (like Guild Wars) do not have battle passes, and I certainly hope that ESO doesn't decide to implement one 😅We'll have to wait and see until April to see what the devs are cooking 😬
@@Arttea thank you for educating me. Apologies for my ignorance. I played WoW for a couple years in 2006 then started ESO in 2021 and that is the extent of my mmo experience. I just. Really like this game. And I'm afraid of it turning into something inaccessible to me.
@@crystallinecrow3365 Oh there is no need to apologize at all, genuinely. Your fear is honestly completely valid and shared by a lot of other ESO players for similar reasons - players also fear the burnout that would ensue if they had to log in all the time to unlock content.
I'm not gonna lie, I don't know how to feel about this. This feels like a reaction, rather than a planned action. There is nothing stopping them from making any of these changes now, but instead, it feels like a lot of the enthusiasm and dev labor behind these patches is just not there.
Aren't we in the middle of a multi-year story arc? I agree, feels reactionary. But perhaps the business side of the equation has caused some alarm and prompted a call to change.
I cannot properly express how excited I am by these news, for almost all of these changes it's like they reached in to my brain and pulled out everything I wanted to change with ESO.
The logical next step in cutting down dev costs. First they got rid of the second DLC, now of Chapters. It's clear that with each passing year the dev budget and dev team shrink more and more, the main focus is on that new game they're working on that was rumored for awhile. But, of course, less content is framed as a positive change for the players. Who's dense enough to believe it though?
This all really does sound promising! Looking forward to the new year. The new player part especially sounds good. It has been years but I still remember the absolute confusion that was starting this game. Also side note, I recently finally gathered the courage to venture into my first battleground, largely thanks to your videos. I am happy to report I did not go with 17k health and stuck with the group!
@@Arttea It was scary, fun and I might be developing a new fear of certain skills... So naturally I have been looking at PvP builds now for more attempts with a less cobbled situation on my end. 😂 Thanks for making me try it!
tbf - i'm pretty sceptical about new seasonal model. Content problems aren't goona be solved until: a) they'll have more ppl b) they'll fix all the managment bs Also with chapter-system go - ppl should understand for what they are paying. Beautiful words from ZOS as usual - and battlegrounds functions still as they were functioned during dev stream. P.S. tnx for the vid
The QoL improvements are well needed. It is good to see feedback being heard. I'm just hoping the smaller content updates bring a smaller annual price tag; maybe something like "we fixed Cyrodiil, here's a $10 mount and crown pack to celebrate!"
Regarding making overland content more challenging, i hope they don't tack a blanket nerf on characters, but explore ways to give veteran players a reason to fight harder in delves and overland.
I'll believe it, when I see it. Saying they're going to "seriously address Cyrodil performance" is insane, so they were just joking around when I was paying ESO+ to help them test Cyro for nearly a year? Ive got zero faith in ZOS anymore, and its just so sad because ESO could have been the greatest.
I don't blame you for having lost faith. The devs give Cyrodiil a shout-out every year it seems, and yet these long-standing issues remain largely ignored and unaddressed. I'm looking forward to learning more about what all they have planned in April, and like you, I'll finally start to believe it when I can see it for myself.
As someone who’s had this game since 2017, but only recently got invested earlier this year, it’s nice to see them listening to feedback, especially on the overwhelming new players front! So many of my mates won’t touch the game because they don’t know where to start and it’s such a shame! Also sick to see the PVE stuff being rebalanced because that’s also an issue I’ve had with my friends, all in all super cool to see them talking about what’s next!
Yess I haven't been able to get any of my friends into ESO either, even though they are big Elder Scrolls enjoyers Hopefully the new changes can make that new player experience MUCH less overwhelming.
ESO is BY FAR the most new player friendly MMO there is. Its not even close. If your friends find ESO to be intimidating, maybe your friends should not be playing MMO's lol. WoW, FF14, BDO, even warframe all have INFINITELY worse new player onboarding than ESO. ESO is child's play compared to those in terms of new player experience. ESO quite literally could not be more new player friendly, the entire game's mechanics are almost painfully simple, you are not required to have 10 years of back-knowledge to progress easily and to keep up with the story like in WoW for example. The entire map is scaled to whatever level you are. Pretty much all of ESO's zone stories and expansions are instanced, they are all self reliant. separate. You can do the story in any order you want, you are not missing 10 years of lore if you begin to play today. It always blows my mind when I see the comments that are like "eso isn't new player friendly", or "eso needs to be more new player friendly" because that literally couldn't be further from the truth. If you find ESO to be too overwhelming, mmos are not for you, plain and simple, you are finding the easiest and most toned down "MMO" MMO to be overwhelming.
@@Suckko I'll take your word for it. Nevertheless, I still think it's great that the devs are listening to the feedback from their players and looking to improve the new and returning player experience given how hot of a topic it is in this community.
Really interested in more difficult open world content. Haven't played ESO in years now, but having pretty much the whole overworld be solo was a real drag, as someone coming from older games that often are a majority group-centric. I like the world to bite back and feel truly dangerous....not just in vet dungeons or trials. The idea of "gear chase" though is pretty odd in the context of ESO...one of my biggest criticisms with ESO has been the gear system. It truly feels like a system created to be as balanced as possible, which just....often isn't so fun. A lot of the "different" sets feels very similar in their design and mechanics, making it feel like there are 1000 options but just 5 choices. I was really intrigued when they added Artifacts(?) but then they were only behind the minigame, which felt really, really odd. I'm not sure if that's changed now....but I was honestly hoping they would lean into that and start weaning themselves off of the gear set structure and into something a little more freeform and interesting, if not more unbalanced. Really glad to hear about updating visuals for older zones....that's something a LOT of MMOs have neglected in the past, which makes the game feel dated to new people. So bravo for them putting resources into that. And obviously, I can only prayge that Cyrodil performance does get addressed (lol). TBH, this update was nice, to someone who barely pays attention to ESO anymore. Who knows, maybe 2025 is the year I return to ESO?
That actually sounds kinda fun How would you imagine the fishing mini-game to be like? I'm thinking like....Stardew Valley maybe?? But I know a lot of people HATE the fishing in that game lmao.
@Arttea Just make it like other games. Move the controller stick/ mouse to the left or right, up to ease up, X or Interact key to reel in. Make special, cool looking fish furnishings
@@Arttea I like the mini-game in guild wars 2 and new world but my favorite fishing mini-game is in Once Human, first you hold and you aim where it will land, then when you get a bite you gotta hold and then let go from time to time to make sure the line won't break, you have a meter for that, it goes red if the line is about to break, while the fish struggles to escape you gotta hit A or D to counter the fish going right or left to wear down the fish's stamina while you have a stamina that drains as well, the game tells you which one to press, it's easy very once you understand how it works.
@@Mark-k5v1z Ohhh neat! I've played a few games with little fishing minigames in them and I can recognize a lot of similar mechanics in that description. I wonder what all the fishing mains would think of it lol.
Re: overland difficulty, would be interesting to poll players on a variety of current non-pvp combat encounters to determine where the sweet spot is in terms of difficulty and just how people are feeling about difficulty, generally, right now. As a solo-player, some of the most interesting non-dungeon/arena mobs are the super strong Cyrodiil keep and resource guard variants (if they were most aggressive and less stationary) and in terms of bosses, the Roaming IC sewer bosses, although that maybe mostly has to do with the threat of a player showing up. Dragons and roaming overland bosses are okay in terms of difficulty, but would be cool with difficulty turned up a little bit more. Certain environmental hazards have a lot of potential to be juiced-up too, like extensive lava or the plant-traps in southern Black Marsh. I'm really curious what other folks think is appropriate for "hard difficulty" overland. 🤔
First time I’ve been excited about the future of the game in a long time. I know harder overland is getting pushback, but I think it’ll open up the game to a lot of people to enjoy. Cyro improvements has been on the “laundry list” for a like decade so I’ll believe that when I see it haha.
I have reservation regarding "Increasing the difficulty of standard overworld combat". The current difficulty of overworld combat is ok to me. Yea it is not that challenging for most but challenging content are currently hosted in Vet and Trial content. There is no lack of challenging content and hence there is currently a good balance of easy to difficult content. With the move to increase difficulty of standard overworld combat, it will eliminate the 'easy' part of the spectrum. The game will skew towards higher difficulties. Is it good? I don't think so. Many players think everyone is as 'pro' as them but that is not the case. There are many casual players who enjoy easy combat and content. They will leave ESO when they feel stressed up playing more difficult content. MMOs with difficult content generally don't have big player base e.g. New World which recently tone down its quest difficulty and world mobs difficulty significantly. If you don't believe what I said, just look at the percentage of PvP vs PvE players in any MMO. The PvP crowd is significantly lesser (unless that is a PvP focused MMO). Why? Because PvP are much more difficult content when you have to fight real good players (high difficulty). If PvE mobs are also as good as real PvP players, you know the player gonna leave to play another MMO.
I hope it's optional, like a toggle or something. An mmo with a challenging overworld that I like is Guild Wars 2. But for them, the whole game is end game so each expansion has that in mind. Hopefully ZOS can do something like that to make the overworld relevant without making it too hard. Challenge is very subjective.
yeah that's how I feel. I can see some places or mechanisms to increase the risk/reward, but if they destroy the ease of traversing the overworld they'll destroy their own game and their decisions recently leave little hope. I don't want "Dark ESOuls"
Actually they already have the data to see if players (majority) do prefer more challenging content. Just look at the number of players participating in Vet and Trial content on a regular basis. Is it more than 50% of the entire player base? IF it is less than 50%, and you erroneously think player prefer challenging content, then you are shooting yourselves in the foot. There is a difference between preferring challenging content on a persistent permeating basis vs challenging content on demand basis. On demand basis is currently served by Vet/Trial model. Persistent permeating basis is to make mobs everywhere more powerful and challenging, you go anywhere, you will meet challenges, you have no choice. The latter will be disastrous for ESO. I suggest they just up the difficulty for only one zone to test it out and see for themselves how many players actually will go play there for the challenge. IT is amazing to see New World dialling down its content difficulty after huge fail now trying to recoup its player base while ESO doing the exact opposite trying to dial up its content difficulty. Ppl don't learn from history mistake.
@@kwoowoo828 I think Guild Wars 2 does a good job of balancing challenge with accessability. That said, ESO is a different game. We shall have to wait and see.
We asked for new and Different. ZOS provides New and Different. Community freaks out and paranoia sets in "OMFG the game is DEAD!" wtf? I'm looking forward to the changes, seasons seems like a good model if they can keep up with the dev cycle and I'm happy to any and all CyrodIil updates
Different people have different reactions. Remember, you are also part of the community. So you asked for less content and got it, I guess. I wanted more releases like Summerset, for example. In terms of how we gear up, nothing brought a bigger change in my opinion than adding Jewelry Crafting in Summerset. After that release, the only build diversity comes from sets and buffs/nerfs. We need more things like Scribing and the like. And companions aren't my cup of tea, so I don't consider that content. But I also haven't seen what's coming yet, so I am cautiously hopeful.
Almost sounds like maintenance mode and a battle pass system are coming if I know ESO. If I'm proven otherwise and this is genuine hard change with tons of dev's re-working the game that would be a wonderful thing.
I'm seeing a lot of folks concerned about the potential for "Seasons" to mean a "Season pass" or "battle pass" of sorts, so I hope the devs come out and give us some concrete proof that this isn't the case. Unfortunately, I think we will have to wait until April to learn more about the monetization plans.
Battle passes and seasons are a way to make the most money with the least effort. I kinda understand if they are working on many games but I personally will play other games because of this. I just got back into Guild Wars 2 after many years and it's great (no subscription, no battle pass, and good old expansions). That said I hope ESO is the exception.
So... we went from 4 updates a year.. to 3 updates a year... to now 2 updates a year with no chapters, and the only story content that will be added will be in existing zones. Funny how less content is being framed as a good thing.
Of course we would all love more content, that would be ideal. But "back in my day", the devs were churning out half-baked, unfinished content and burning themselves out. I'd much rather the devs take the time they need to create actual banger content instead of adhering to an unrealistic publishing schedule that leads to really underwhelming or broken content if those are our options.
@@Arttea That's a very optimistic view. What is far more likely is that we will end up with fewer devs, just as burned out, working harder to produce less content. I -hope- you're right, but years of experience, both in the real world and in the MMO hobby, lead me to be ... less optimistic.
not just that - you´ll be also forced to pay several times a year, which most likely will end in a significant increase of spendings for players not having ESO+ on a regular basis. after what was served for the big "housing" Launch and the big "PVP" rework I expect clear statements of included content before spending another cent
@ the pvp update was a big let down for me. Comparing it to IA from last year, it was so small of an update. I mean I can’t imagine how much programming it took to change the format from 4v4v4 to 4v4 and 8v8. It’s underwhelming. I’d be happy if they added more arenas to the game, but I doubt it. They need consistency and to try new things like they said. We should get a new solo arena, 4 man arena, and trial every year. Also bring back trials like cloud rest and asylum. Mini trials.
I'm not sure if it's haters. I think people are just upset because they were looking forward to more zone stories and now it looks like they're not going to be adding anymore zones.
ZOS has a long streak of failing to listen. In my experience, ZOS promises but the delivery is a monkey's paw. The recent battleground change is an example. They could have let there be both kinds of battlegrounds, but they took one to deliver the other. I hope they change, but I have a lot of doubt.
"Much needed updates" makes the implication that there were guild tools, at all, before... Everything I use is a mod that was out-dated before I started PLAYING this game three years ago. The floor is so low some of my fellow moderators were in a chat, talking about our answers to the quiz and the basic things we were literally begging for made me so damn sad. "Time in guild" was the most requested feature. How insane is it that _that_ is not a standard feature.
Im excited they're going to show old zones some love. Ive been wanting that for a long time. However, the seasonal cadence makes me worried. I only want to pay for the new year's content once, and dont want to keep on paying for each new season. Hopefully the monetary/business part is reasonable.
I'm excited to see where this goes. I want a reason to get back into the game and the overland content and starter region revisits are very exciting. I hope they look at incentive structures I loved the game and played since Beta but finally lost the love when I talked some friends into playing and realized I had to point them to the cash shop for most things, and high end, hostile pve for most the rest of it.
Totally agree. I still think that some of the best "rewards" (cosmetics, mounts, etc) are locked behind the cash shop, and that needs to change. The cash shop can keep its pretty cosmetics, but content needs to reward players with equally neat things. Most notably, trial and dungeon skins need to make a return! I got into PvE because I wanted to earn those pretty skins lol.
I really liked this game and I've played it on and off for about 8yrs and it was always pvp for me, so to hear about the cyro changes makes me want to play again but I don't think I can handle being run over by unkillable ball groups again.
Completely understandable Running into ballgroups very frequently has been making Cyrodiil my least favourite of the 3 pvp modes recently. Sometimes it can be hard to find any good fights because the only opponents online are in a ballgroup, and I'm just not a fan of fighting in that manner (so much running!!! ). I'm hoping that the devs actually deliver on their promises to take a serious look at Cyrodiil this year and experiment with it a bit because Cyro would really benefit from having more folks in it.
This change further reinforces that the game devs don't know anything about pvp which is what the recent sypher/Brian stream confirmed. Making stock loadouts means they have given up understanding pvp to balance it and are not capable. Also they keep adding new animations and procs to further overload servers which in the past they tried to limit to improve performance... they don't even remember changes they made 2 years ago and the results they learned and balance changes begged for by the community This feels like spin for them giving up on pvp balance and claiming it is a feature. For the oldheads in chat: "THIS WILL BE A BUFF" if you can't read your class skills and passives
I’m probably gonna start playing eso less and less. The big new chapters were stuff I looked forward to all year. I understand why eso content is now gonna slow down, but I’m not sticking around for it
The thing that I absolutely need is to be able to bring my PlayStation account over to PC. I have a 600 hour account on PlayStation with some very rare mounts that I want to bring over badly.
I for one would like to see houses have split zones, loading screens could allow us a higher items count as the totals that limit [fps] is for the area your in currently. Also guild calendar page with notes like events meetings trials etc. The ability to upgrade with requisite skills, companion items. Skinning companion gear. I would love to see house portals IE: moving from your house, visitors can go to your other houses. Maybe a menu to select a house from players personal list. My: open houses list.. [link] [blah] [blah] [blah] ..or even portals to various places in one house?
I'm -very- concerned about this "overland content difficulty" revamp. I'm afraid they're going to implement some "one size fits all" strategy rather than making it an "opt in" thing. Sure, overland content is not much of a challenge if you have 1500 CP and gear every character in a "real" build. But I can say from recent personal experience on my second account that the game is just fine, difficulty-wise, if you have less than 300 CP and acquire your gear through questing and overland farming. On a related note, the last thing I want is for every crafting survey to become an "adventure." I have several hundred of the things that I already can't be bothered harvesting because they're tedious and time-consuming. Making the trip to the survey location more tedious by making the intervening enemies "more challenging" is mostly definitely not an improvement, IMO. (Seriously, I'm already destroying most crafting surveys that I get for DLC zones because the nodes are so spread out and annoying to reach that I can safely say that I will never try to harvest them.) Given their recent attempts to make the game more accessible to players who are inexperienced, have poor reflexes, or suffer from sort of impairment, increasing overland "challenge" seems like a step in the opposite direction. Unless, of course, they they implement something like LOTRO did. Make it a per-character option which debuffs the character in return for increased XP, gold, and achievements. Make it more challenging for the people who -=want=- that, without ruining it for those of us who adamantly do -not- want any changes.
Seasons are what game devs do when they are trying to significantly lower the costs of content but to milk as much money as possible out of a dying game without actually providing value for your hard earned money
Seasonal content can ultimately mean anything. The best we can do is hope that they have the game and community at heart so another Destiny 2 doesn't happen.
The change to skills to Cyrodiil has me quite concerned, and tbh, it sounds like an extremely unwise course of action. I, for one, do not want my normal class skills swapped out for different ones in Cyrodiil.
That's fair. Fortunately, these experimental changes will be confined to a specific Cyrodiil campaign, so if it's not your cup of tea you can totally avoid that campaign and stick to the usual ones.
I feel little overwhelmed by this news, I haven't been on ESO in all of 2024 really. It's good they're changing things up, sounds pretty exciting, but after playing this game for 5+ years, I'm just burnt out from it all, and branching out to other games as well. I've been playing BG3 lately, so feels good to try something new & refreshing, I wish ESO had many classes like BG3 though, have more options like that, haha!
to improve the performance issues in cyrodiil, the dev team has decided to take a step back from housing alltogether, and custom furnishing is now deleted once and for all
If there's no Chapter to sell anymore, they may switch to selling these "seasonal contents". I wonder how they would sell these in 2025, just hoping nothing is too pricy... Also 17 mins ago is insane! Never been this early
I'd like to check out other MMOs for sure, and then I have also been meaning to try out older TES games for a while now, seeing as the only ones I have every played myself are Skyrim and ESO I'd have played them sooner, they've been sitting in my steam library for ages, but I want to capture my genuine blind first impressions for content lmao.
They better let you go back and do previous events at least going forward. I hate missing out on cosmetic items. Also bring back more event stuff to the Crown Store. Why are the Evergreen weapons not in the Crown Store right now!? For example.
I definitely look forward to the Cyrodiil update if they don't screw it up like not being able to fix doors and walls from Keeps. The constant events were getting on my nerves and the pets and motifs from the events did absolutely nothing for me. Look forward to see what other games you play.
The only thing I'm worried about with the new release style is fewer trials or interesting content. I know the trials after DSR are less popular than they should be but it almost feels like they were sabotaged by having realatively bad gear. With the relatively stale trial comps for the last 2 years, interest in the format has naturally dwindled.
I’m kinda bored and done with eso, they just keep adding more junk that I don’t know what to do with. I don’t know what I would want them to add but I know the game at this point is just bland for me. Understand I’ve played every part of this game and I been playing since launch but there is nothing really worth the grind anymore.
They need to copy more of RuneScapes mini games and implement it to make ESO’s pvp interesting and fun. They already stole RuneScapes “Nightmare Zone” it’s the same as “Endless Archive” Spawn in kill adds, mini bosses, and final bosses from all over the game to earn points. The mini games on RuneScapes are actually so creative and fun it would be amazing with an ESO style to it. They also need to ditch the whole 12 man raid thing and make trials a 4 man or solo type of thing like raids in old school RuneScape. They also need a better introduction to combat and show people what their bar set ups should look like or what sets to run instead of relying on UA-camrs to do their job for them. They also need to buff the oaken ring to how it was when it first released for people who still struggle with two bars or just don’t have the time. It doesn’t matter how OP something is. As long as everyone is having fun it’s better than the new high hp tank healing meta going on currently.
Oh my goodness! We absolutely need cross progression or transfers! I want to play on PC, but I would lose all the progress I made on Xbox. That would be a deal breaker for me.
These things could have been done while they "reworked" skills. They promised a PVP fix for years. While is sounds nice, thats the point of adds. I don´t think anyone could not see how ESO cut their development effort in the last 2 years. At this point, for what do they want a sub for? - Yeah, for the craft bag.
oh pvp specific versions of skills could be interesting, like sure they're talking about it on the performance side and it being campaign specific, BUT if one day the split can be expended so we avoid future cases of fun PvE skills getting nerf to utter and complete uselessness because some PVP build found a edge case that became meta than i'll be one happy camper. Still waiting to see how they end up doing the zones now instead of chapters, like on one hand i can see it helping with the staleness of chapters for sure on the other hand i can see the monetization just being awful with this, best case we just go back to subbing on release month and using the crowns to buy them as they come out but yeah.
Oh my goodness. The event schedule was fine. It's not hurting anybody. Why change stuff for no reason? The community needs to stop flip-flopping. I'm complaining to the devs over nothing over. Absolutely. Nothing burnout, burnout on events, then log off. Oh, my freaking. Every time I turn around Somebody is complaining over nonsense, trying to change the game.
In other words, they are getting rid of big chapter updates to sell and giving us smaller updates with less content and will sell it at the same price as the big chapters making them more profit.
We don’t know what their monetization strategy is just yet, but it will be revealed in April. I hope they clarify sooner because I’m seeing so many conspiracy theories.
what cyro needs is a compelte seperate game balance from pve, a total map and gameplay overhaul and better servers. You and me both know were not gonna get anything like this, and at best youd get some half assed shit they did over the week end thats at best a fancy bandaid and then call it a day.
I'm going to be reserving a majority of my enthusiasm and judgment until April, or whenever we actually start to see some of their concrete plans and changes actually implemented. Until then, I remain cautiously optimistic. Granted, I don't think we're going to get anything MASSIVE like a complete map and gameplay overhaul, but I hope the devs can at least make a serious and persistent effort to tackle the performance issues, and then they can go from there.
I think this is one of the results of these tests and experiments and whatnots over the last years: They simply did not find a way to get Cyrodiil back on track within the current framework of the game, esp. with skill performance and balance. Leading to this idea of creating basically a different PvP version of the game - which is potentially quite a bit more radical than just balancing PvE and PvP separately. It will be at least interesting to watch.
They shouldnt make the Overland Content Group focused. But make it harder, not insane levels. Just enough so i dont fall asleep while fighting mobs. atm its just a breeze. i could kill 90% of mobs and even bosses with a blindfold. the fact that you can stand next to a mob for minutes while your not even close to dying just tells you how easy it is lol
How are they going to monetize the seasonal content? The Chapters were what $40-$50 dollars? No Chapter=No money. ZOS will want to get that money somehow. Will they be charging money for the seasonal content? Will ESO plus include the seasonal content? Will we have to pay for ESO Plus and they Seasonal Content?
People have been asking the devs this on Twitter and the only response we've seen so far is that this will all be revealed to us in April. Just gotta wait till then.
Here’s the thing with pvp. You can’t please everyone. There’s too many whiny crybabies that freak out when they lose to another player and cry that the game is broken. They don’t take the time to figure out every class’s weakness and explore sets outside the meta. Everyone is basically a clone of these top youtubers. Even their rotation is a clone. Crazy actually. The real problem with the game is lag spikes, and bugs where permanent debuffs are applied such as hemorrage which sometimes bugs out and continues to kill you after you respawn and permanent self healing debuffs where disease damage is permanent and you can longer heal yourself. Some new bg maps and new cyrodiil locations would be fun. Maybe a couple more game modes. Hopefully the devs can figure out some cool new areas and game modes in bg’s. Eso is actually a really fun game when you stop playing like a clone and do your own thing.
Same bs, different year, sounds like the same promises that they made when scrapping the previous development cycle with 2 dlcs and a big story every year. And pvp performance fixes... lol sure.
Well let's be realistic, new content release cycle means less content same price as they move their employees over to the new game they are making. I'm happy to hear they are finally going to try and separate PvP from PvE, but, you know the die hards are going to cry and cry and cry and ZOS will probably cave and we will have the same shit meta cyro in the end. I hope we get a pure PvP cyro because I think it's one of the best PvP concepts ever, me want to smash keeps!!! I think they should make a PvE cyro, join your faction and the others are controlled by AI. It would give players a chance to experience the glory of cryo without getting constantly farmed and quit in frustration. I think it would ultimately boost PvP cyro numbers as once people learn the basics and joy of cyro they would ultimately migrate to pure PvP cyro, plus it'll keep the questors out of the campaign during jubilee.
The experiment in Cyrodiil will be confined to a new campaign, so you will still be able to play your necro in the normal campaigns that we already have!
HOW ABOUT BALANCING ASPECTS! there are over 100 sets and maybe 10 of them are usable in PVP or PVE. why have such a huge variety when everyone is a copy of same cookie cutter build... they destroy any class identity when they resale the infinite archive, and locked set to specific classes and they had a brilliant idea to nerf them to oblivion they are worst then overland sets! why not address this? another thing about balance is trials, these days according to logs there are about 80/20% class diversity split in vet trials end game content where 80 being anarchists and 20 everything else on a dps side... majority of groups will kick you out if you are not anarchist class...
This is a HUGE talking point that is relentlessly brought up to the developers even at those more intimate meetings/round table discussions, so they're well aware of it. Their response is usually that they're "aware and looking into things". Not the answer you wanted to hear I'm sure, but at least we know they're in the process of taking a look at how to fix some of those itemization dilemmas. These things are just going to take a lot of time.
Literally every suggestion would improve game more massively then any chapter update right now. I truly hope they make every one of them, especially the overland content and new craglorn styled content. Until then i stick to other games and casually check ESO.. Oh and they actually mentioned Cyrodiil!
Yeah the suggestions sound super promising, I won't lie. They've mentioned working on Cyrodiil performance a few times now and we've not really seen any significant improvements, but it does seem like they'll be trying to really look at changing things up this year what with that new campaign. Until I see any results, I remain cautiously optimistic. I'm looking forward to the overland difficulty overhaul as well!
@@Arttea I actually got one of my friend to try out ESO and the new player experience has improved massively. You dont need to slog through wandering from zone to zone not knowing what to do. They actually said that the early game was enjoyable and *gasp* learned wtf they should do in this game.
Can confirm ESO is becoming the same brainrot as COD. Sorry but this game's story now goes to it's end.Had a nice feeling throughout the years playing with different people, playing different content(housing, trifecta trials, trifecta dungeons etc. From casual pvp player to endgame pve player.I had some times when it was hard to get a proper gear,i had some times when it was hard to find a solid team for anything in the game because of many reasons. About overland i dont mind increasing it's difficulty but it reminds me revolutionary One Tamriel patch where every World Bosses became harder to beat. Some people hate ,some like a bit of the challenge. Seasons is the thing ESO should never go this way.Golden pursuits from U44 is a prelusion to what is coming... I mentioned COD.This game franchise also has similar issues including a microtransaction being more a thing than game itself. This looks horrendous. ESO is now turning into a game for younger generation of players who only see these microtransaction the thing they want the most from the entire game... There will be nothing new. Same like any recent years, copy and paste content for real money.
we need like WOW daily quest when i open map i need to see like world quest daily currency to get and then spend them i wanna more engane with open world i dont like intance content yeah i like but its dosent fell like a MMO like loby base warframe game but eso not that type game warframe more great than eso but combat and currency more great than eso we need like WOW worldquest desing we need to see event's and get currency
Sadly for me its too little and too late for this Aussie player on the Playstation network. I cancelled my eso plus last month after playing from Vvardenfall. Hardcore pvp was my thing but zos's inability to be honest with the pvp community has left me with no alternative. The Tarnished Nightmare situation left it untenable for me. Everyone knows they left it broken to sell more dlc's and its this greed ridden mentality thats done it for me. Actions speak louder than words so I don't watch their lips anymore, afterall, its Bethesda we're talking about. I wish everyone well and I hope they finally do something!
I damn near took a break from pvp during that patch myself, so I know how you feel. It's a bummer it took them so long to address how busted it was, but at least it is more balanced now.
@@Arttea I've currently got this mindset towards developers especially Zos, its a speech from this years game awards. ua-cam.com/video/L6tdoeKbiiY/v-deo.html
@@jayfromoz That speech really resonated with me as well. I couldn't help but think of ZOS when I heard it because I know that the higher-ups (not the devs that I get to talk to) do a lot of the unfavorable things that Swen Vincke mentioned. The "doing things that increase revenue and don't serve the game design" line totally stood out to me :/
@@jayfromoz One of my best friends has been playing Warframe for ages and he also has nothing but great things to say about their dev team! I'd like to check that game out some day :)
@@Arttea See the thing is, I've been under the best developers in the business for nearly a decade playing Warframe, Digital Extremes. So when I look at how Zos have behaved, I know what the truth is. Plaguebreak, dark convergence , dragonknights, wardens, werewolves, mist form, scripting, THE GOD DAMN STAMINA GLITCH!!! It take them months and years (if at all in the case of stam glitch) to balance anything! Nothing short of lazy if you ask me.........
the open world and combat/animation changes are all long overdue but i wont hold my breath on if they can make real improvements. 10 years is a long time to wait for them to say they're going to start listening to feedback.
Adding overland difficulty options is such a huge win if they can deliver it. This game has the most beautiful zones with the most brain dead easy combat encounters
I actually like exploring and not like, getting killed by a random wolf after playing for years, but okay, you guys get what you wished for, better not hear complaining.
@@provisionalhypothesis overland content is braindead easy. you can literally afk infront of a wolf and still not die lol. its too easy.
@dragonchild_SC 100%
But its a snoozefest atm
A nice middle ground of challenging, fun and chill would be perfect.
Im not asking to have intense fights against mudcrabs or whatever, but currently its just a snoozefest.
Theres literally no challenge, apart from world bosses, who (if you played the game for roundabout ~50 hours, and you know how to fight/rotate)
Are also just easy..
Some of this is exciting and some is downright terrifying. I hope my fears will prove unfounded. 🖤
Oh no, what are you worried about?
@Arttea it sounds like we're getting a battle pass model
A seasonal model sounds like the winding down of larger scale development, allowing to have a smaller team managing updates.
Yeah getting rid of zone dlc and the second dungeon pack each year is so ass
me
Yeah it’s clear, less content is the goal. I’m thinking they will do a PvP battle pass so they can milk more $$$ out of people.
While also monetising the game in more and more ways, which could have also been earnable rewards. It's sad to see this game going down that path.
@@individual116 And a limited-time battle pass within said battle pass for even moar $$$.
Yeahhh you love to see it!! Hope you've been having a good time in beegees
@@Arttea It was scary, fun and I might be developing a new fear of certain skills... So naturally I have been looking at PvP builds now for more attempts with a less cobbled situation on my end. 😂
Thanks for making me try it!
I wouldn’t be so optimistic. It sounds like they’re starting to pull support from the game
tbf - i'm pretty sceptical about new seasonal model.
Content problems aren't goona be solved until:
a) they'll have more ppl
b) they'll fix all the managment bs
Also with chapter-system go - ppl should understand for what they are paying.
I quit if i have to rebuy gear every 10 levels while leveling
@noandroid5329 YES. Get rid of this armor system, it's insane
knowing zos, they'll make every 3 mob encounter into a boss fight and give them one-shot mechanics.
This change reads as we will be lobotomizing Cyro to improve performance, lol
I agree with you. They've been saying 'we're working on it' since beta.
More Arttea cant wait! And thanks for the update video 😎
I'm actually pretty excited about everything they are talking about. Fingers crossed.
I’m actually hyped for once
Thanks for the summary! ❤
Cyrodiil mentioned!! fingers crossed
Please tell them to update fishing, add a mini-game, craftable fishing poles, being able to fish without a node.
Fishing should definitely be a mini game and give better. Fishing pole tiers like gear would be neat.
Thanks ,i can always count on you
We asked for new and Different. ZOS provides New and Different. Community freaks out and paranoia sets in "OMFG the game is DEAD!" wtf? I'm looking forward to the changes, seasons seems like a good model if they can keep up with the dev cycle and I'm happy to any and all CyrodIil updates
Seconded. Firmly.
I totally get having concerns, or being excited, either one. But the hyperbolic, sky is falling reactions got me unsubcribing.
I've been away from the game for several months, more like most of 2024 I may try a comeback soon if the changes actually happen.
So... we went from 4 updates a year.. to 3 updates a year... to now 2 updates a year with no chapters, and the only story content that will be added will be in existing zones. Funny how less content is being framed as a good thing.
It’s even crazier that all of these content creators just don’t mention this
Of course we would all love more content, that would be ideal.
Pretty happy about these changes, not going to lie. The haters can be haters as much as they want
Oh, I miss the old group Craglorn. The quest implementations sucked (requiring a super-synced group), but it was nice to have an entire “vet” zone.
Ah the melody of your voice and the wonder of your funny editing on this controversial TOPIC !! NO NEW ZONES :O
Finally... A chance for a Templar rework
Please, ZOS, give me my jabs back. 😭
Also they keep adding new animations and procs to further overload servers which in the past they tried to limit to improve performance... they don't even remember changes they made 2 years ago and the results they learned and balance changes begged for by the community
This feels like spin for them giving up on pvp balance and claiming it is a feature.
For the oldheads in chat: "THIS WILL BE A BUFF" if you can't read your class skills and passives
@@MagnumEatsPie yeah it doesn't sound hopeful. the new battlegrounds was. not. it.
Started my very long break from ESO a month ago. I really hope they start to pull out all the stops and give me a reason to spend money again.
I’m probably gonna start playing eso less and less. The big new chapters were stuff I looked forward to all year. I understand why eso content is now gonna slow down, but I’m not sticking around for it
At the end about event burnout - i hope this isnt true. When theres not an event going things can get really boring
(Seriously, I'm already destroying most crafting surveys that I get for DLC zones because the nodes are so spread out and annoying to reach that I can safely say that I will never try to harvest them.)
Given their recent attempts to make the game more accessible to players who are inexperienced, have poor reflexes, or suffer from sort of impairment, increasing overland "challenge" seems like a step in the opposite direction. Unless, of course, they they implement something like LOTRO did. Make it a per-character option which debuffs the character in return for increased XP, gold, and achievements. Make it more challenging for the people who -=want=- that, without ruining it for those of us who adamantly do -not- want any changes.
Interesting however not sure on seasons. Seasons destroyed destiny2
I've been playing BG3 lately, so feels good to try something new & refreshing, I wish ESO had many classes like BG3 though, have more options like that, haha!
finally... we're so back
Look at Arttea, getting all this exclusive access
She's all grown up 😭
to improve the performance issues in cyrodiil, the dev team has decided to take a step back from housing alltogether, and custom furnishing is now deleted once and for all
If there's no Chapter to sell anymore, they may switch to selling these "seasonal contents". I wonder how they would sell these in 2025, just hoping nothing is too pricy...
Also 17 mins ago is insane! Never been this early
Which games are you considering regarding content?
I'd like to check out other MMOs for sure, and then I have also been meaning to try out older TES games for a while now, seeing as the only ones I have every played myself are Skyrim and ESO I'd have played them sooner, they've been sitting in my steam library for ages, but I want to capture my genuine blind first impressions for content lmao.
@Arttea can always wait for ES6
@@pratikb475 I can't wait to finally make ES6 content when I'm 60!!!!
@@Arttea oh man, you gotta check out final fantasy XIV, aside from clasic mmo combat system it does everything so much better than eso!
I hope they make sorcerers great again :D
Let’s see of I’ll get back into this game or not lol
Still no Argonian ERP update 😔
no argonian ERP? dead game 😔
The letter is a prime example of how to break an mmo and put another nail in the coffin.
As long as everyone is having fun it’s better than the new high hp tank healing meta going on currently.
no way
no way
Oh my goodness!
Still waiting to see how they end up doing the zones now instead of chapters, like on one hand i can see it helping with the staleness of chapters for sure on the other hand i can see the monetization just being awful with this, best case we just go back to subbing on release month and using the crowns to buy them as they come out but yeah.
as much as i hope for a performance fix for cyro i highly doubt itll fix the "30 fps in huge combat"
Every time I turn around
Somebody is complaining over nonsense, trying to change the game.
They should add Guild Wars to bring some spice between guilds 😏
In other words, they are getting rid of big chapter updates to sell and giving us smaller updates with less content and will sell it at the same price as the big chapters making them more profit.
We don’t know what their monetization strategy is just yet, but it will be revealed in April. I hope they clarify sooner because I’m seeing so many conspiracy theories.
Time for poe2 LOG INNNN !!!
what cyro needs is a compelte seperate game balance from pve, a total map and gameplay overhaul and better servers.
Cyrodiil will fix itself once w10 hardware is made obsolete and everyone upgrades their potato PC to not hinder nearby ppl with slow response times
promising Cyrodil performence improvements HAHAHA. How many times will they fool people?
How are they going to monetize the seasonal content? The Chapters were what $40-$50 dollars? No Chapter=No money. ZOS will want to get that money somehow. Will they be charging money for the seasonal content? Will ESO plus include the seasonal content? Will we have to pay for ESO Plus and they Seasonal Content?
People have been asking the devs this on Twitter and the only response we've seen so far is that this will all be revealed to us in April. Just gotta wait till then.
Oh god, no. Change Lead Combat Designer first ))
wow time to include eso into my seasonal adhd game cycle
And pvp performance fixes... lol sure.
Guess Redguards don’t get their own chapter
No dont replace skills wtf, i just setup a good necro
The experiment in Cyrodiil will be confined to a new campaign, so you will still be able to play your necro in the normal campaigns that we already have!
@ oh thankgod, ill still try it and see
HOW ABOUT BALANCING ASPECTS! there are over 100 sets and maybe 10 of them are usable in PVP or PVE. why have such a huge variety when everyone is a copy of same cookie cutter build... they destroy any class identity when they resale the infinite archive, and locked set to specific classes and they had a brilliant idea to nerf them to oblivion they are worst then overland sets! why not address this? another thing about balance is trials, these days according to logs there are about 80/20% class diversity split in vet trials end game content where 80 being anarchists and 20 everything else on a dps side... majority of groups will kick you out if you are not anarchist class...
PLEASE ZOS SAVE THIS GAME I WANNA ANNOY MY FRIENDS BY BEGGING FOR THEM TO PLAY WITH ME ONCE MORE!!!
Ah man, I hate Craglorn lol
sounds like they are adopting the seasonal model destiny 2 has had... bad idea
Event burnout...
Not convincing in the slightest
hahaha, one big step closer to life support. SWTOR hat the same journey, now look at it.
Matchmaking sucks on console, especially pvp. I hope they introduce cross play.... At least for xbox and ps (and the new switch, maybe)
Swtor does this, it sucks, soundsd great on paper and lots of copium over there with this sort of thing
