Andy, I put more creedence into your reviews than any other you-tuber, because you are not swinging 110-120 MPH. You truly do represent us average golfers, and are a wealth of knowledge and experience as well. My only question I have with this amazing driver release is dollar for dollar is the increase in performance enough to justify the exorbitant price of these new drivers. Individual decision to be sure, but then if we are truly talking average golfer, I would venture to say most of us do not have an unlimited wallet. Maybe wait 2-3 years and purchase one at a more reasonable price.
@@ronj9460 I don’t think anyone will see any vast improvements Ron, as has been said time and time again on this channel, unless you are unhappy with the performance of your current driver then there is no need to change but if you are this is an option 👍
The synic comes out in me to be honest..... Every time a driver gets released it's like this driver is longer better low spin blah blah blah than last year's model you could pull a driver out from pretty much any time in the last five or six years and get very similar results and I know there's a few comparison guys on UA-cam who go the other way and compare older drivers with the newer ones and they get very similar numbers especially once you've tweaked the weight set up all the shaft which I think is critical look straight out of the box it's probably a great driver but it gets to the point where there's 10 drivers coming out in January or February every year and then UA-cam is just full of driver videos don't see as many videos on pads and other parts of the golf bag. I get it. It's all to do with marketing and people get a driver they can demo and they probably get to keep some of them as well. I'm a professional photographer and I've seen the same thing in photography as well even though I've been given free gear to test out and give reviews for not on UA-cam but on other platforms and it just becomes a bit of a game to be honest I'm sure it's a fantastic driver not saying it's not but let's look at the deepest stuff that's going on on UA-cam with this type of video constantly coming out that saying I'm not criticising the channel or this particular channel at all. I really like it and he is very fair with his review on clubs. I think the keypad is getting fitted for a good shaft and even if you are a slow swinger you can still get fitted for the right shaft and I think that's more critical than the actual brand of driver
I've hit the G440 Max just as you have it. Alta cb reg. Love it. Going to get it. Easily out drive the setup I have now. Ping has reworked the Alta this year with lighter weight and less counter weight. I love it.
@TheAverageGolfer Yes my fitter explained the shaft has less counterbalanvung and is lighter overall. I didn't realize untill yesterday they made it longer. My issue with my current driver is squaring the face. This goes away with the G440.
Here in Australia the new drivers are turning up, last year I tested as many as I could, the last ping I drove considerably further, but inconsistently in that distance gain, which is something that doesn't occur with my old maverick driver, I'm looking for a new driver, but due to the expense you need to be certain and happy with the investment . Going to demo the new elyte on the 20th Jan, but they'll all get a go, hopefully find the same results as you when ping comes around. Thanks for the review . I ordered a 12 degree G440 Max at PGA store today . Multiple shoulder operations and slow swing speed . I won’t receive it until early Feb . I currently play the Ping G430 Max in 10 1/2 . Looking forward to gaming this new tool.
I give credit to Ping for trying new things. But as we saw with the G440 irons scrapping the 5 wedge setup and reverting to the traditional 4 wedges, I predict that this 46” shaft thing will be a one generation and done thing. My best balls so far of the new drivers has been a DS-Adapt LS, when I actually hit a decent shot. If anything, the thing I keep gravitating towards is a mini driver because of the shorter shaft. Just want to keep the stupid ball in play.
I am about a 15 handicap. I bought a Ping G430 Max a year ago, and used it all season. Before the Ping, I was hitting 43% of fairways, hitting 3% of shots into penalties or bunkers. With the Ping, I hit 37% of fairways, and 4% put me into penalties or bunkers. The average drive length was identical. Towards the end of the season, I yanked the Ping out of the bag, and went back to my TSI3, after which I hit 45% of fairways, and only 2% into penalties. I guess all that struggling to hit fairways with the Ping helped improve my swing, so it wasn't all bad.
It's not just ab9ut the head. The shaft plays a major role in accuracy. And on top of that the ball can play a huge role. When I am on I hit my Ping G400max with a Diamana blue shaft out of my old Ping Rapture drive right down the middle 90% of the time. When I'm on and use a prov1X I hit tight little draws and the prov1 left dash straight ass piss. When I'm off and play the X i can hook it and the X left dash still goes straight. Crazy huh? Good luck finding you perfect match between head, shaft, and ball.
PGA Tour average in driving accuracy stands at abt 60% the higher being over 70% hence some pros are "only" over 50%... Pls follow tiger suggestion and stop watching UA-cam 😂😂😂
@@rptucker3871 I have experimented with balls, and some are definitely spinnier. I just stuck a Newton Motion shaft in my TSI3, and am hoping for more accuracy. We'll see what happens. My problem with the Ping 430 is that it feels heavy, like hitting a hybrid. I despise those. I think the weight makes my hands break early, so balls go left and hook, a bad combination.
@@amgpumaWith regards to pro driving data, keep two things in mind. First, the longer you hit the ball, the straighter it needs to be to stay in the fairway; a 5% offline hit will be fine on a 160 yard drive, but not on a 300 yard drive. Second, the pros play harder courses, with narrower fairways than most public courses. Comparing my 43% to their 60% is apples to oranges. If you put them on my courses, and they teed off with a 5 iron so that the distance matched my drives, I'm sure they would hit >90% of the fairways, so comparing me to them is useless. I think the average golfer will change their driver every 3 or 4 years, unless they have money to burn! This is probably one to test if you're in either of those two camps. Good honest review 👍
did you keep the driver at 46' inches ? I would want to shorten it to about 44.5 or 44 Your thoughts ? I am 60 years old and about a 8-10 handicap with a 90-94 mph swing speed great review by the way well done cheers from Canada
The ALTA CB Blue shaft he is using is lighter and counter balanced so it swing weights to D3 at 45". Ping's driver heads are heavier than other manufacturers. If you are using a Ping driver and not the ALTA CB shaft, definitely go shorter than 46", start with 44.5.
I have a G430 Max. If I do change I’ll likely go for this. I have a shaft I was fit for though which means getting a new hosel because of the design change, bit of a pain.
Very very unlikely to be worth it. Your G430 Max 10k will be a top contender for at least the next 3 years pending some unimaginable leap in technology.
Longest drive of 2025 but it’s only Jan 13th, did you mean in the last 12 months or 2024? Similar swing speed to me (I’m 65) so gives a good indication of what could be possible distance wise Using a 425 max, 9.5 set at 10.5. This would be of interest but looking at fitted irons this year and possibly a LAB putter
No I mean this year as we have just seen all the major releases in the last two weeks, from a factual perspective it was likely my longest drive of 2024 as well! But I would have to check
@ yes I’ve seen a few tests here on you tube and to be honest was thinking here we go again. My 425 I had tweaked via a fitting for a callaway wood using the shaft recommendation to replace the senior shaft on my club. The club pro fitted a shaft from his demo kit for £60, sorted. It works well so the 440 would really have to go some to justify the cost
I have the G400max and the G430. They have different shafts and the 400max is longer. I do like the g430 though. It goes straight and that's fun. I hit the longest drives with the 400max but I'm consistently longer with the g430. Make sense. Can't wait to hit the new ping but I'm guessing I will not need it. Ping makes the straightest drivers IMHO lol
I think this driver is a great driver, and definitely better than last years model. I would like you to do a 440lst review as well, because for a low spin model from what I've seen, it's a really forgiving driver as well. Thanks for your thoughts and reviews!
I believe the LST is for the "better golfer" with above average club head speed. If you want to see a review now the Rick Shields put one up an hour ago and was very impressed as it was the model that most suited him. Hope this helps.
@kieranocallaghan8197 I have seen it as well as a couple of others. Hannah Holden did a review as well, and she was blown away with the max until she hit the ls model. Her swing speed is normally about 90ish. I would like to see his because his swing it is closer to me as well as speed 95ish.
@@scottmcdonald9924 his clubhead speed is around 110mph. My understanding is that the LST models are best suited for faster swing speeds, but I agree that an Andy test would be more meaningful for average golfers.
I got the ping 10k 9 degree because in Florida the fairways are always moist so I get no run out with a 10.5 degree with my average swing speed. My only complaint is the spin is too low. Looks like this new version might fix that. Can't wait to test it.
@robertshields6214 maybe also check out a heavier rear weight for your 10k? I’ve noticed in the specs on the 440 that they have jumped rear weight up to 29 grams. Adding a little weight to your 10k may be a fraction of the price of the 440.
I just don't get along with the look and feel (sound?) of the newest PING drivers. Still a Titleist man here. Just gives me confidence over the ball and that's a big part of it for me. Let's me really go after it when I feel confident.
Great review Andy! I was in hopes they would loss the Turbulators on the new 440. There is no question Ping makes great drivers, but I will continue to pass on them because looking down and liking the look is important to me.
@@TheAverageGolfer He is right. Cmon, compare a 10 year old Ping driver with the G440 Max. Otherwise your channel just become another form of advertising for the manufacturers.
It would be good to get comparative data set of the last 2 or 3 iterations. G425max G430max/10k and G440 max. I edge my bets that there is minimal difference outside of aesthetics.
Hi could you test this club against the tour edge as this club is over 200 pounds cheaper. I know you have already tested the tour edge perhaps you have the figures just to see if spending over 500 pounds is really worth it . Thats goes with any of the top branded drivers that have come out this year.

I tried the new driver and lost 35 yards in distance relative to my TM i hit over the summer. Do you think the fact it is freezing outside might have something to do with it? Hmmm …
Absolutely… I hit everything so much shorter in the winter… I live in New Jersey and combine cold temps, with wet courses, and wind and I lose major yardage. About 30-40 yards on driver I would say. Let’s not forget about the layers you have to put on to stay warm which restricts you too

If Drivers keep getting better and better every year, I’m going to be driving the ball 500 yds in a few years !! But then again I’d sing any new drivers praise if I was getting free clubs every year !! What’s that saying about “a pinch of salt !!”
Your comment is seriously embarrassing and ill informed maybe listen because I spoke directly to clowns like you is this video, you never know you might learn something……but I doubt it
Used G 430 drivers will be cheaper now . G 440 max buyers , remember don't get caught out again, Ping will probably release the G 440 max 10 k when you've bought the 440 max !
All drivers are limited by the Coefficient Of Restitution so the only way to get it longer is increasing the swing speed and the smash factor by hitting closer to the sweet spot...
Its all very well saying its great but affording it is another matter - Will I really get benefit from changing my G425 Max and paying £600 for the privilege.
All drivers are limited by a max trampoline effect. If you swing your driver at 100 miles per hour of clubhead speed and your ball speed off the clubface is 145 miles per hour, then you would have achieved a smash factor of 1.45. PGA Tour average smash factor with a driver is 1.49. Another interesting fact about smash factor is that, according to USGA regulations, golf club manufacturers must limit their smash factor to 1.5 or the club will be non-conforming to the rules of golf.
I hate the look of Ping drivers, those turbulators are just distracting for me. But they are also very reliable drivers. Maybe not the longest but not far off, real fairway finders. I do think Ping may have made a mistake in providing their stock shafts at 46" which is probably a little long for the average golfer. And I am a Ping fanboy - I play i210 irons, G410 hybrid and G425 5w (and will be changing my 7w probably to a G440). My current driver, Stealth, is only 18 months old not going to change it for another 4-5 years at least
and just a month ago you said "Diver you should throw out, and get yourself a mini driver!" I guess it all changes when OEM's throw gear at every youtube reviewer. Shame. Lost a lot of credibility for me.
No need to by cynical. I know that when the right tool is in hand and one starts to achieve new lengths you are filled with excitement. It changes one's opinion.
Thanks for the review, Andy. Would be interesting to see how some of the more mid-price point offerings like Cleveland’s HiBore compare against this and the other new 2025 drivers.
People are hitting it longer because they're having a few digs on the launch monitor with a 46" shaft. No sane person who wants to improve their golf game, should play with a 46" shaft!
Yeah for sure… ping says they have enough forgiveness that the 46” length doesn’t effect things but I play a much shorter driver.. I play mine at 44.5, imo it’s much better at that length than to choke down on the grip (for me)
No matter how much technology is in the new drivers I'm keeping my old faithful driver in the bag. It's hard to give up on something you have complete confidence in.

Im getting a fitting for this Andy, but ive git a funny feeling my Ping 425sft will still be on the money,if it gives me extra yards, its in the bag,if it doesn't ill play my 425...4 years ive had it..hardly misses the fairway..im a Ping man..fingers crossed its a good one..like you say..im 64 off 11.. forgiveness rules
I think the average golfer will change their driver every 3 or 4 years, unless they have money to burn! This is probably one to test if you're in either of those two camps. Good honest review 👍
@@Keef1664 spot on 👍
Excellent review Andy. Thanks. Just one question. I have a G430 driver. In what ways is the 440 better? Longer/ reduced dispersion/feel?
Totally agree. Every new driver review should be benchmarked against the 5 year and 10 year old model to see the real difference.
did you keep the driver at 46' inches ? I would want to shorten it to about 44.5 or 44 Your thoughts ? I am 60 years old and about a 8-10 handicap with a 90-94 mph swing speed great review by the way well done cheers from Canada
The ALTA CB Blue shaft he is using is lighter and counter balanced so it swing weights to D3 at 45". Ping's driver heads are heavier than other manufacturers. If you are using a Ping driver and not the ALTA CB shaft, definitely go shorter than 46", start with 44.5.
I have the G430. Will wait to replace until the G500 comes out. Why? Because a G500 just sounds cool.
Can you test the new Cleveland hi bore?
As much as I love my I203 irons, I guess I need on of these. Everyone seems to love them. Damn those turbulators though. I find them tough to look at
I have a G430 Max. If I do change I’ll likely go for this. I have a shaft I was fit for though which means getting a new hosel because of the design change, bit of a pain.
Hi Andy what length shaft was on that driver and what was your average attack angle.Great video again
Great review.. how would you compare to 430 10kmax.. I have that and would really like to see if it’s worth it or not
Very very unlikely to be worth it. Your G430 Max 10k will be a top contender for at least the next 3 years pending some unimaginable leap in technology.
I plan to test the PING G440 as soon as they become available in my local golf shop.
It’s probably a good one for sure, but it’s early yet! I’m am going to stay with my Tour Edge C721 for now!
Would your suggestion be to put this driver head on a shorter shaft?
What loft might you recommend for us 70+ golfers?
@@davidhust2123 I would certainly like to try with shorter shaft, depending on swing speed often a higher loft driver can help
How long was your driver shaft in this Ping G440? How long was your old driver shaft? Thanks for the great video's!
This is 46” I generally play a shortened shaft of 44.5
Longest drive of 2025 but it’s only Jan 13th, did you mean in the last 12 months or 2024?
Similar swing speed to me (I’m 65) so gives a good indication of what could be possible distance wise
Using a 425 max, 9.5 set at 10.5.
It works well so the 440 would really have to go some to justify the cost
head to head the Ping to the Tour Edge.
Ping makes the straightest drivers IMHO lol
have you tested the Krank Drive for lower swing speeds v All the other top brands you have used .
I think this driver is a great driver, and definitely better than last years model. I would like you to do a 440lst review as well, because for a low spin model from what I've seen, it's a really forgiving driver as well. Thanks for your thoughts and reviews!
I may well try and get a sample
I play the 430 now, I'd like to see the 430 vs. 440 very nice channel. Cheers...
@@markdunn1931 yes I will do that soon
@@TheAverageGolfer Thank you.
Hoping you test the Cleveland hibore, looks ugly but also looks really forgiving
@@richardsnow1438 not had any access to it so far
Which shaft were you using in this?
Smash factor of 1.46 is impressive - shows you're getting almost everything out of the club
Think we got a few 1.48
Smash factor of 1.46 seems on the low side for me.
@@jayhales3822
Even tour pros struggle to get over 1.48
1.46 to 1.48 is exceptional
Better to hit with RCT balls to correctly read the spin. As it is, your spin numbers are just estimates.
I noticed that the standard stock shaft is 46 inches, could help with the swing speed.
Yes absolutely 👍
Think I'll wait for G780 to get another 2 yds
Good for you Martin, how long did it take to come up with that one?
@@TheAverageGolfer He is right. Cmon, compare a 10 year old Ping driver with the G440 Max. Otherwise your channel just become another form of advertising for the manufacturers.
Just ordered one, in 12 degree and -1/2 in shaft length!
Could be onto a winner there Jim, I like the 1/2 shorter shaft choice as well 👍👏 hope it goes well for you
Would love to see you get professionally fitted, especially for an aftermarket shaft on this head 👍🏼👍🏼
Was that just the stock shaft that comes with it. Thanks
Yes it was CB Alta 50g Reg
Longest drive so far with a 55g regular shaft, would you expect more from a fitted shaft/head combination?
Perhaps, a very interesting starting position
Love ping
Play ping irons, but im always 25 yards shorter with a ping driver maybe i should try it🤘
Wow that’s interesting, all drivers should not be too dissimilar so 25 yards shorter suggests something hasn’t been right
Is it better than your Taylormade QI10 Max?
It would be good to get comparative data set of the last 2 or 3 iterations. G425max G430max/10k and G440 max. I edge my bets that there is minimal difference outside of aesthetics.
Hi could you test this club against the tour edge as this club is over 200 pounds cheaper. I know you have already tested the tour edge perhaps you have the figures just to see if spending over 500 pounds is really worth it . Thats goes with any of the top branded drivers that have come out this year.
I will be trying this new Ping out and despite the bloody turbulators😂 In all seriousness, thank you for the very informative video and please get your ball speed down below 95 mph so others won't think you are "above" average.😀Cheers!
But then there will be another issue!! Trust me you will never please a certain crowd on here 😂👍
@ I know. We just have to be patient with these special folks. Thanks again my friend.

Does it come in a SFT?
@@garycortesi8406 yes
The numbers look very well matched for you. I'm not crazy about the $650 US price, but it sure seems like a great one.
Must confess I hadn’t know the price and a bit taken aback as it’s £575!!!!!
575 probably discounted to 525. I think I will wait 2 years and pay the 277 that they are currently flogging G430 LST at my local shop.
@ on Scottsdale golf it’s £575
Sounds good, hopefully they have improved the lasting power of the head cover as well, highly unlikely.
Only time will tell
I’m a PXG black ops man. Think you play same? . Is this better ?
Is there a reason you don’t use accurate spin numbers?
I tried the new driver and lost 35 yards in distance relative to my TM i hit over the summer. Do you think the fact it is freezing outside might have something to do with it? Hmmm …
Absolutely… I hit everything so much shorter in the winter… I live in New Jersey and combine cold temps, with wet courses, and wind and I lose major yardage. About 30-40 yards on driver I would say. Let’s not forget about the layers you have to put on to stay warm which restricts you too
Hi Ande at the end of the day is there much of a difference at all with last yr model for the price of them. I believe the new Mizuno,Wilson & Exotic s Driver's 10k max are incredible value & performance, any chance you can give them a whip😊
I have filmed the Tour Edge 10k and Mizuno drivers in 2024 👍
I'll go back and have a look Ande thanks,I can look forward to the Wilson review so, very underated club in my opinion, yet still that manufacturer has produced the most major winners,
How much does it run ? I imagine it’s not friendly for someone on a budget ?
I'll keep my TourEdge which was almost half the price.
Indeed. You'd have to sell all your irons these days to buy a new driver :-)
Hahaha, hell of a title.
I was going to add ‘including a kidney’ 👍
@@TheAverageGolfer Hahahah. That would be amazing.
Instructions unclear. i am now homeless and without transportation
All drivers are limited by the Coefficient Of Restitution so the only way to get it longer is increasing the swing speed and the smash factor by hitting closer to the sweet spot...
Which is stated in the bloody video!!! What is the point?????
Looks like you're not allowed an opinion.
@ what was the opinion?

Andy! Do you think there will be a 10K version in a few months like the G430?
I am still awaiting the tech spec so o don’t know where this is in terms of MOI, do you?

I will keep using my g425 with my fitted stiff shaft
I'd rather wait several months for the Max 10+K version to drop. None of the 3 new 440s match the 430 Max 10k.
9578k on the Max, do you think it will make a difference?
@@TheAverageGolferhahahahaha I’m just reading your replies to random comments. Love it
With a swing speed of 95 mph , you are an above average golfer !
Average swing speed for Male amateur golfer is 93mph 👍
I think 95 mph is around average? Maybe faster?
I'm 60 and still swing at around 95 mph. And I'm not super fit!
Oddly enough this is discussed in the video
Have any of you ever wondered why there are so few “Iron Byron” reviews on UA-cam 😂😂
What do you think they use to produce the data they use for marketing purposes that everyone questions its validity?? Giggle giggle 🙄
@ a big thumb
Lou might want to give this a whack. Louis road trip 2025!!

How tall are you? I'm 6 foot 6.
@annabeloakes6724 Great, you're in the top 1% of height, give yourself a clap.
@@annabeloakes6724 6’9” here and I don’t play with a 46” shaft in my driver.
Yeah for sure… ping says they have enough forgiveness that the 46” length doesn’t effect things but I play a much shorter driver.. I play mine at 44.5, imo it’s much better at that length than to choke down on the grip (for me)
Based on Andy’s advice I had a shaft made for my driver so it plays 43.75 the same as the TM & Callaway mini drivers and it’s a game changer
At last Ping have made a driver that doesn’t sound like an empty tin of beans 😮
I wonder what the "best" driver will be next week? 🤔
