- HELLO MY SWEET FAMILY!
ENDLESS LOVE FOR & A WARM HUG FOR THE SUPER THANKS TO MY HEROES:
Rob K., StephaneSmarties, dano41 & Peter Buwen !!!
Your contribution means the world to me and helps me out way more than I could ever express! This really makes a difference! You make a difference! I sincerely thank you with every fiber of my being.
RAM SIDE I REACTION:
• REACTING TO RAM BY PAU...
I love everyone in this community and can only hope that everyone is having a great day. I know this video is now scheduled to go up on Thursday. It was actually supposed to go up on Wednesday, however something went wrong with the upload... I am not quite sure what went wrong. This is the second time this has happened with a video and I hope the last!
In other news, this past Tuesday, June 7, marked the 8th month of my father's passing and it was an extremely difficult day for me to hold it together. I wanted to let you guys know that thanks to so many of you speaking with me in the comments, sharing information with me and just having extremely interesting and kind conversations goes such a long way and without you guys I don't think I would be able to make it through this difficult period. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. When I say I love you guys, that means forever.
Awesome review, Crystal!
You're the best! 🙌
To me this represents what McCartney does best. Simple and stripped down songs with an occasional Classic Rock type song thrown in the mix.
Side 2 of RAM represents some of the best of his work as a Beatle (Yesterday, Blackbird, Long Tall Sally, etc.).
Condolences on the passing of your father (I just read about it in the description). I lost mine a while ago but we still have good memories to hold on to. 🙏
Rob K. !!! You always know how to save the day!! Thank you for saving me! :,) My adoration for you is permanent!
Great great great connections with Yesterday and Blackbird, I could see them fitting into this album with pure ease!
And thank you for your condolences, I am so sorry to hear of yours passing as well. As I am sadly learning, the more time the passing the heavier the longing is. 💕 It’s kindness like yours that helps me to hold it together and to continue forward.
@@CrystalMarieShannon Oh snap! Thank you for Pinning my comment! 🙏
Right on Rob
Monkberry proves that when Paul just says 'f*** it' and goes mad, he is absolutely inspired and untouchable.
"Back Seat of my Car" still has a profound effect on me. Stunningly beautiful. RAM is a fabulous album, unfairly disparaged at the time.. Interesting to see Paul working on "Backseat" --- a rough version -- during the Get Back sessions 2 yrs earlier. Really enjoying your channel !!
Perfectly put. Incredible track.
Eat at Home is clearly an homage to Buddy Holly. In fact, much of this record is grounded in 50’s rock and roll. I love it! Elvis McCartney rocks!
This album was shamefully unappreciated back in the day by critics, but is now deservedly praised for its greatness. It’s so beautiful that we got to see you get to listen to it for the first time, Crystal.
I always love a good underdog story!! It’s so hard to believe that such a beautiful work of art could be dismissed! Glad it finally is seeing the reaction it deserves!! It’s marvelous!
I don’t know how so much talent can be packed into one person. Paul is incredible.
My theory, God must have unsteady hands and let the talented cup slip and we have a resulting over flow on our hands!
This is why John wanted Paul in the band. John got it right off the bat. Not that John was chopped liver, but if he thought Paul was soft or rubbish, he would never have worked with him for as long as he did.
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ No doubt. Talent recognizes talent.
Those last couple minutes of outro from Monkberry Moon Delight just NEVER get old. Go back and listen again - I mean really listen! Paul "effortlessly" bounces up and down the scale in a way that has had me long convinced that he is in fact from some sort of parallel universe.
Ram is one of my three all time favorite albums (tied with Revolver and Sgt. Pepper), and so very underrated. This is what I consider the peak of Paul's creative genius. He was on fire!
Paul lives in a musical circus of a cacophony of sounds, that he orchestrates into his own wonderland of sound.
It's a real shame that this album was critically panned when it was released. It's an amazing album and Paul shouldn't have been discouraged about the musical direction he was going in. Another great reaction video. Don't ever be discouraged. Keep doing what you're doing, Crystal.
thank you so much my friend!!! 🧡🧡🧡🧡 and you are so right, that is a downright shame! Paul is quite sensational and we are lucky to have such a talented musician who gave us gems that will continue to shine for a long long time!!! ✨ it’s the quality that truly holds up!
Paul still brings a smile to my face and eyes when ever istill see and hear Him. What a gift He's been 😅 and I feel he'll be not for too much longer 😢 love you Paul always ❤😊
The Backseat of my Car is truly a masterpiece
Underrated solo artist (Paul McCartney) with one of the most underrated albums of all time (RAM) and the most underrated song on the album (The Back Seat Of My Car)
Bangers from the RAM sessions that are not included on the Album (some on other albums)
Another Day
Little Lamb Dragonfly
Dear Friend
Little Woman Love
I Lie Around
Seaside Woman
Big Barn Bed
Hey Diddle
Whether with The Beatles, as part of Wings, solo, performing a duet with someone like Michael Jackson, or any other way Paul McCartney is so talented he is always worth a listen! Crystal, this has been a terrible rainy day (all day, literally) here in Vancouver, but you have brought some much needed sunshine and light to my day with your excellent reaction! I look forward to your next one already!!
I completely stand with you in a strong way about Paul just such a raw and vibrant talent that we are so lucky to get to witness the wonder he is and brings into this world!!! You always know the exact thing to say to me to just turn my day and mood right around!! Everyone who gets to be around you is so blessed to be around an amazing person! ✨
Thanks for listening to and appreciating my very favorite album! I always thought the "Don't get left behind" lines in "Monkberry Moon Delight" were also a playful dig at everyone to not get left behind - go out and get the most out of life.
My very favorite McCartney album!!! 'Long Haired Lady' is so beautiful.
Such an excellent choice for your fav!!! I agreee about Long Haired Lady!!! So much beauty within the track!
@@CrystalMarieShannon The 2 things that stand out to me about this album are 1) the harmony vocals. The way Paul and Linda's voices blend and work perfectly together. I really love it. 2) the overall sound of this album has a very homemade quality, like he had a home studio and just went for it!
My favourite McCartney album, Ram. Every time I hear it I'm in awe at how creative McCartney is. It's like there's so much music in him bursting to get out that it's like one tune is coming out of another tune in the same song, if that makes any sense. It's certainly not easy to get bored as each song twists and turns and takes on new shapes on this album.
Such a shame that the album was slated on release by most critics and the other Beatles themselves, but then this was only a couple of years after The Beatles split, and McCartney was taking a lot of flak at the time (for no good reason) and extra hate because Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone was good friends with Lennon, and seemed to have a hatred of McCartney and made sure to spread it round.
Thankfully McCartney's fans have always loved it, and these days it's being given the respect it always deserved. The fans are usually right, in the end.
Great video again, Crystal, and have a fantastic weekend.
PS. We do appreciate all the hard work you put into your reactions and videos, but don't burn yourself out!
The tangent tunes with each track makes so much sense and I felt the same way without even realizing it so that you for putting into words what i’ve been feeling!!! And it’s sad to hear the story of how this amazing album was welcomed (or rather unwelcomed) into the world but i’m happy to see how the narrative has turned out over time!! Deserving of the utmost praise definitely!!!! You are so kind thank you my darling
friend! I appreciate you being here and looking out for me!
Heart of the Country is one of my faves too. And he started working on Back Seat of My Car during the Let It Be sessions. Could have been a Beatles song if they had stayed together. As it was, it took him a couple of years to fully realize the song. Thanks.
For me, this album was Paul at his most melodic and creative. I was eagerly awaiting your review of side 2 and it didn't disappoint! If you like this, I think you'd like Red Rose Speedway too.
Danke!
Crystal, I know how you feel. My mother passed 8 years ago. Last week my father in law left us forever. On the other side are we waiting for the birth of our second grand child. It is certainly no consolation to tell you that death is also part of life. But please let me tell you: your Dad is with you and always will be because you are a natural part of your Dad. Your father's meaning to yourself is within you. And you can make sure that one day you can face your Dad again. I believe in that!
Wow!!! Thank you my Peter!!! ✨ You are the sparkle that shines brighter and brighter as the moments go on! Thank you for being so wonderful to me 🤍🤍🤍🤍
My heart is heavy to hear about your mother and all the years you have spent apart now. I know she must have been a real special lady to have such a wonderful son. And my deepest condolences about your father-in-law, I can only hope that you were able to enjoy and cherish your last memories together. You and your family will be in my thoughts Peter. Thank you for your words of strength and support. They mean a lot to me and help me to look towards the next day with hope, which most days I find difficult so I really need it! I truly hope miracles surround you and blessings ad good fortune flock to you and never end.
@@CrystalMarieShannonMay this last wish also apply to you
@@CrystalMarieShannon ...and you could make a Hollywood Movie about my mother. She was a very tolerant and kind but also strong woman. When she was 17 in WW2 she travelled with a fake passport through Nazi germany to Berlin to hang around with the german movie stars there. When the war ended she fled from the russian zone to the west but got captured by russians and almost executed as a supposed spy and so on... :-)
As a 68 year old I grew up with the Beatles so much a part of my life. Growing up I was a “John” fan but after RAM.......Paul was and is the man! Ram on! Thank you so much for the review.
After “Ram” John made “Imagine”. They were both great
So was #9 Dream ! @@hw343434
Hi Crystal. Oh yeah, Backseat Of My Car. Just devastatingly beautiful. Just,,,words fail.
Crystal, Thank you for the video.
Hey Crystal, really thrilled over your love for Back Seat of My Car. It's something that I think Brian Wilson would have called a "Pocket Symphony". Such a tour de force. With all the changes, it would fit in Abbey Road. Just my humble opinion. Thanks for the reaction!❤️
Wow!! Thank you so much for sharing this John! I think you are spot on and I am over the moon to share a love for this amazing tune with you!! Thank you so much for being a part of the family
Oh, Crystal, by the by... Remember how the Beatles had a habit of putting out non-album singles - songs recorded during a given album session but released separately as a single? Paul put out a non-album single from these sessions - and first post-Beatles release - called "Another Day" with the b-side "Oh, Woman, Oh Why".
I was going to describe them, but I sense that you like to be surprised, so I'll leave it there.
Believe or it, my father pointed me to your channel. He’s a 68 yr old hippie who listens to Pink Floyd and The Beatles (and other 60’s early-70’s) music about 14-16 hours a day, every day since I was a child. (I’m 32)
His #1 Paul McCartney album is RAM, mine is Wild Life, the album after RAM. Anyway, we are huge fans now of your videos and really enjoy your educated take on music he’s listened to for 55+ years, and 20+ for me.
I’m working my way through your videos, the Beatles and their solo work first, then Floyd, an so on.
If you have a paetron page or if you ever do livestreams where we can show our appreciation for your hard work, let us know! Please keep up the great work! ❤️✌️
hey there Julia!!! (beautiful name btw- like the song!!!) I am so grateful for your dad & the fact that he led you here! so excited for you to join our beautiful musical community, that honestly is more like a family to me!!! I can already tell you have exquisite taste in music! I absolutely adored Ram & can’t wait to get into Wild Life!!🤎🤎 Thank you so much for being here & writing to me! As far as the Patreon goes, I actually did make one but i’m still trying to figure it out! So when it’s ready I’ll make a big post about it but until then i’m figuring out how get everything done!!
@@CrystalMarieShannon thank you! Looking forward to be a part of it. So much ahead of you in terms of every Paul McCartney album 👍🏻
Wild life and ram are in my top 3 McCartney albums! The other one is Band on the run!
This side contains (almost) all sides of Paul: funny/playful (Heart of the Country), crazy (Monkberry Moon Delight), rocker (Eat at Home) and mellow/loving (Long Haired Lady and Backseat of My Car)!
Anyway I love your reactions, always on point and so pure! Have a good day ✨💕
Wow!! what an astute observation!! Great great catch! Thank you for bringing this to light!
And thank you Francesco, I hope you have as wonderful of a day as I will now have because of your kindness- it’s very powerful 💜
Thank you for the insightful reaction to a masterpiece! Side 2 of RAM is an amazing side of music that goes in so many surprising directions. Back Seat of My Car brings the album to a brilliant finale!
A little piece of trivia: The the very end of Ram On (reprise) Paul sings "Who's that coming down that corner, who's that coming round that bend". This is the first lines of the song Big Barn Bed which would appear on Wing's 1973 album Red Rose Speedway.
Yes! “Big Barn Bed” and “Get On The Right Thing” were actually recorded during the “Ram” sessions, but release later on RRS.
Ohhhhh yay !!! Thank you a million times over Marc!! I always appreciate a great piece of trivia!! And that just makes me all the more excited to continue forward the Paul path!!!
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ I wonder why he left them off, especially if he included a segue to Big Barn Bed.
This is probably my favorite album of all time. Paul has other albums I love, but this is his best for me.
This album is like a Master Chef dinner for the ears. The surprising elements and combinations are both earthy and cosmic. Brilliant.
Beautifully said!! I feel the same way!
@@CrystalMarieShannon You are the first 'five-tool player' I've seen in the reaction genre, and you play my favorite music. What a treat for us. Thank you so much!
earthy and cosmic...so true
Eat at home is a double entendre. Love making, as Paul said.
Haha quite clever! 💜 I hope you enjoy today’s clip: ua-cam.com/users/shortsqSde7OP4IWQ?feature=share
I am a fan of Paul McCartney ... and a fan of RAM ... 👍😊 Thanks for this great review 👌
You are a fan of all the wonderful things in this world Richard!! A man of true taste!
@@CrystalMarieShannon Thank you Crystal 👍😊👌
On "Monkberry Moon Delight", I also love Paul's scat singing during the second half. I hadn't realized your Dad had passed away. My deep sympathies.
Yesss I've been looking forward to this one! Love your videos, it's always a ray of sunshine to see them pop up in my inbox. Have a great day
EDIT: I'm pretty sure the "Ram On" is a play on McCartney's first artist pseudonym "Paul Ramón" that he used in the beginning of his career. Like a message of him saying "give your heart to somebody new" -- moving on from The Beatles
wow!!!! you just put all the stars in my sky!!! thank you! love you and appreciate you wholeheartedly! 💕
Also, fun fact! "Paul Ramon" provided the inspiration for a certain punk band to name themselves The Ramones!
Yes, I agree. Paul Ramon is a pseudonym that Paul McCartney used during the 1960 tour in Scotland with Johnny Gentle & the Silver Beetles
Reacting to your personal news, I am truly sorry for the loss of your father Crystal. I myself experienced this 2 years ago and I know it's a nightmare when you loose a close parent much too soon. You feel like a void is opening up and everything is becoming meaningless. It may take several months, but you gradually improve. This is what I sincerely wish for you. Many on this channel appreciate how beautiful and talented you are and I hope you find comfort in this artistic journey.
Thank you so much for your words of comfort!! They definitely help at a time when my soul feels it’s at its lowest point of despair. I am so sorry to hear that you have gone through the same :( I do not wish this on anyone especially not someone so wonderful to this world! My thoughts and love are with you, always! xoxo 💕
I don’t know if this is deliberate but the spoken bit when you hear the dialogue “What is it?” sounds like a spot-on impression of George Harrison. Paul is known as being a great mimic.
Eat at Home is a fantastic tribute to Buddy Holly’s style, especially the vocal hiccups. And back in the 80s, Paul bought the rights to the entire Buddy Holly catalogue.
He also created the Annual Buddy Holiday festival in England as a tribute!
Me and my mate were 14 years old when this beautiful Album was released we were already Beatles geeks waiting for more and this cut it! I love it the melodies the energy the general beatleness , magical X
Can't Wait To See/Hear Your Reaction/Analysis Of Cat Stevens "Tea For The Tillerman" Album..Absolutely An Iconic Classic.
Another great reaction, Crystal! You are my favourite music reactor because of your combination of analysis with a genuine joy that you communicate listening to the music!
'Back seat of my car' is my favourite from this album too.
I would recommend McCartney's album 'Tug of War' (1982), produced by George Martin.
Hello my sweet lovely friend 💓💓💓
to hear that I am your favorite reactor fills my heart with so much joy, those are some high praises I feel undeserved of! thank you for being so

I appreciate your reaction and analysis very much too. Thanks!
Thanks so much for getting to side two of Ram! Those of us who love it wanted you to experience it for yourself. Glad you enjoyed it! Love you!
I’ve been waiting for your reaction to this for a long time. This really has remained a great album for me and very underrated. Monkberry Moon Delight is a great example of McCartney’s vocal range but I think the lyrics are very poetic, “rattle of rats” just love that phrase
So sorry to keep you waiting Michael but I thank you with all my heart for being patient with me and being here for me 🧡
I got to really enjoy listening to Monkberry Moon Delight over and over again in edit and i’m right there with you on this one! so much goin on! so much to love about it! the vocal ranges is wild and brilliantly displayed! and that little phrases definitely gets a giggle out of me!!
@@CrystalMarieShannon no problem at all, you aren’t a machine and I’m sure have other things going on. It was great to see yr full reaction now though. I hope you are having a great weekend! 😀
McCartney’s music is just so joyful. The acoustic is always awesome and the songs fill you with peace and happiness.
Thank you for again such an interesting video! You’re really talented. Not only are you a great actress and singer but you obviously have a solid and sharp musical education. It’s always a treat to watch you and a privilege to be your fan.
You do deserve all the love and support you can get 🥰
I completely agree with the peace and happiness granted by McCartney’s soothing music!! And we are so alike!! I also love the acoustic nature in the songs!!!
I appreciate you and love you so much! Thank you for being so kind and looking out for me 💕💕💕 You are like a family member and I want to be there for you as much as possible! The effect you’ve had on my life is immeasurable! The privilege is mine my dearest friend!
Ram would have been incomplete without the wonderful harmonies of beautiful Linda
She manages to replace both John & George's harmonies from the Beatles era, with a new Paul/Wings era, with sometimes sweet and sometimes silly vocals.
They had the perfect marriage of love & talent.
well said! The Lovely Linda indeed!
Thanks for all you do!
THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU JERRY!!! My pal and musical family member!!! 🧡🧡🧡 I hope you are well!!! 🤍☀️🧡✨Did you have a favorite song on this side???
@@CrystalMarieShannonof course! I'm doing well, thanks! Wow it's such a tough choice because I love every song on that album! It might be Long Haired Lady, but I also love Back Seat of My Car because of how nostalgic and melancholy it is (plus its beautiful melody), and of course I love the pure pop brilliance of Uncle Albert! But you also point out things I never noticed before, like the see-saw rhythm of Monkberry Moon Delight!
It was hard not to fast forward and hear your opinion of Back Seat of my Car. So obvious that this would be your favorite. Next to last song where Paul says, “Who's that comin' 'round that corner?
Who's that comin' 'round that bend?” is the beginning of the song Big Barm Bed on his future album Red Rose Speedway.
Thanks for finishing off the album! You were wonderful.
Haha you totally get me! Btw, I am obsessed with your name!!
And YOU are the wonderful one my friend ♥️ Thank you
I always loved the nuance of "We *believe* that we can't be wrong." It never declares that the "we" are not wrong, but rather expresses their state of mind. Ah, youth...
Ahhh so true!!! Good on you for picking up on that and sharing it with me! I would like to expand on that and perhaps ask if you think that he may even be implying that they are in fact wrong and will not accept it??
John reportedly hated this line and took it as a shot at he and Yoko. He thought Paul was mocking them by insinuating that they were saying they can’t be wrong. The important thing is that John and Paul resolved that and thank God they did.
@@CrystalMarieShannon I think that's maybe the subtext, but really buried beneath the sheer exuberance of "certainty". Lol i.e. Love.
Maybe contrast it with the final scene of 'The Graduate' (in the bus) which expresses the joy and doubt in almost equal measure.
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ I can see that possibility, but it's also typical of John to interpret any song as being about him.
Thanks!
💜💜💜 Thank you to you!! Your kindness goes way further than you even now at a time like this for me 💜💜💜

Simply amazing is actually the perfect way to describe Ram actually!!! Because there is this sense of ease and simplicity that allows all the wonders contained to shine on through!! And you better believe i’m extremely excited for Wings!!!
@@CrystalMarieShannon The first Wings album, “Wild Life”, is a bit rough around the edges, but still has some gems. Paul took an unconventional route and started a band from scratch instead of hiring All-Stars to be in a supergroup.
Um, she still hasn't done McCartney... Sure it has a lot of instrumentals, but it is seminal.

Paul is just the best for me
and this album was waaaay ahead os its time , the critics said it was bad ,. and with the reissues they know now it´s brillant
after some listenings all Paul´s albums are just great , really , but you got it from the first listen . looove that
Band on the run and Venus and Mars are pure joiy , from Wings , his band in the 70´s
and Mccartney II ( it´s not easy to listen to for many people, but i love everything about it and it is Paul doing everything
and Tug of war , another masterpiece
Very eccentric pop genius on this album. Looking forward to when you eventually cover Band on the Run.
Couldn’t agree more with you my friend!! Genius to say that least!! And i’m sooooo excited to get to Band on the Run!!!
@@CrystalMarieShannon The amazing thing about “Band On The Run” is it’s Paul, Linda, and Denny Laine on most of the tracks. Paul plays drums and he’s quite good.
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ When Ringo left the Beatles temporarily Paul played the drums on "Dear Prudence" and "Back in The USSR" during the sessions for the "White Album".

@@Sweetish_Jeff_ Paul also played lead guitar on Band on the Run
For me, this is his best solo album. Love to listen to this about 4 or 5 times a year all the way through.
Crystal, make sure you listen to "Another Day". It was recorded during the RAM sessions and fits right in with the mood of the album. It was released as a single and was one of his first hits after the Beatles broke up. Plus, it's always been one of my personal favorites.
And, like some of the Ram tracks, Another Day was written around the time of Let It Be.
Thanks for mentioning "Another Day", I think it's important to hit that single and the B-side "Oh Woman, Oh Why" before moving on to the next album since as you mentioned, they were recorded in the same session as Ram.
'Another Day" is my personal all time favorite post-Beatles McCartney song. Stunning composition and great instrumental performances.

ISNT THAT THE TRUTH RIGHT THERE
Hi Crystal! Yes we needed this one after that intense Wall video. An underrated McCartney album for sure, he clearly wasn't taking it all so seriously and that is a good thing. The backing vocals are great on this whole album. Great reaction as always, cheers!
The Recording of The Album according to WIKI
The basic tracks for the album were taped at Columbia's Studio B from 12 October to 20 November 1970 before the McCartneys returned to their Scottish farm for the Christmas holidays.Work continued at Studio B and A&R Recording Studios, New York from the second week of January 1971 through to February. Playing guitar or piano and singing at the same time, Paul chose to overdub his bass later on. Although it was a collaborative project, Linda's vocal duties were mostly limited to singing harmonies and backing Paul, who sang almost all of the lead parts. Linda sang co-lead on "Long Haired Lady".The McCartneys' daughter Heather, who had been adopted by Paul the previous year, sang backing vocals on "Monkberry Moon Delight".
"Ram On", from the album's first side, was reprised on the second side before the album's final track, "The Back Seat of My Car". The New York Philharmonic was brought in by McCartney to play on "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey", "Long Haired Lady" and "The Back Seat of My Car", as well as the McCartneys' song "Another Day". "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" is in a similar vein to the Abbey Road medley, as the song consisted of several unfinished songs combined into one
Nice reaction, really thoughtful insights. I absolutely get Rocky Racoon vibes from Heart of the Country.
Also, McCartney is so amazing a song writer I would be shocked if that "I look high" line wasn't meant as a double entendre, like you said.
Hey there M V !!!
Yes!!! So I’m not crazy!! You saying this makes me feel like my entire existence is validated hahahaha! And it has to be that soft, sweet, low yet mysterious country quality!
(just so you know every time I see one of your comments up here I get so hyped up)
@@CrystalMarieShannon haha well that's how we feel with your reactions so the feeling is definitely mutual.
According to Paul, Monkberry moon delight was about how horrible he was feeling about whether or not he should sue his former Beatles band mates. He did sue them and eventually they all had to sue each other. Sue me sue be blues by George is about that.

Hey Crystal, I hope you are doing well! Today is Paul McCartney‘s 80th birthday, happy birthday to Paul! I absolutely love your reaction videos especially this one! It’s made me realise how good this album really is and I want to listen to it again because of this video! Take care Crystal and I’ll see you in the next video!!!!!😃👍🎤☮️❤️
You can hear a young Linda McCartney singing background vocals on this, like In Monkberry Moon Delight singing a call and response thing along with Paul and on almost every track on the album. She saved him from giving up during the Beatles Break up and afterward. We owe her so much for that as fans. She became an integral part of the Wings sound and we all miss her. For years Paul used to have a keyboard and empty bench set up on stage, lighted a little and a candle lit up during his performances. His current tour does not have this anymore. Paul is not sounding good vocally at age 79/80 this year, [frankly in the previous years as well] so the audience, with love, just doesn't care they just sing with him. And he tells stories/makes comments and makes them laugh. This may be his last tour, you never know. He will be 80 this year on June 18. He and Ringo Starr are amazingly tough old guys, they kick butt after all these years.
Greetings from MEXICO CITY 🤩🇲🇽 as Backseat
So glad and happy to see you healthy and pretty Crystal
My heart travels to Mexico, sending you all my love!! ♥️♥️♥️
Ohh yes, I'm waiting this so much ❤️
Hello Denis!!! 💜 I love & appreciate you!! Thank you for being here! :)
So glad to see you back in the groove!
Loved this review and can't wait for the next one...
Until then... Ram On!
Cheers!
THAT is the last time I EVER listen to Monkberry Moon Delight! I have avoided it for decades!!!! :P / Hey! You should double back and do his first solo album! "Band On The Run" is also a must! (the two between Ram and Band On The Run are so-so and very inconsistent) Inexplicable that people talked you out of reacting to "McCartney", though, his first out of the gate, a no brainer just for the fact that it would have been great to see you compare the three albums (the other two being All Things Must Pass and Plastic Ono Band) and see how each guy dealt with the break up of the Beatles! Which one would be your fave? We'll never know! ......OR/AND....you can just proceed to John's next album: "Imagine"! Great album! "Imagine" is, in part, a "reaction" to "Ram" as he interpreted the lyrics as being directed at HIM. ("Too Many People", "Dear Boy", "3 Legs") John didn't mince words and was VERY direct.....and downright insulting to Paul! He mocked the album cover and he wrote the infamous song "How Do You Sleep"! (which George played on! Oof!) To this day, that song is a sore spot for Paul, the lyrics are BRUTAL. It's a GREAT song, though, can't deny that! :D
Great reaction , glad to see you return to the album. It’s my favorite McCartney album, (well, tied for Favorite along with his first self-titled album) and has my favorite post Beatle song of his, Back seat of my car.
Another great job... as usual! Thanks 👍
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever been mentioned by anyone in any media before. It’s very appreciated, it made my day! Oh, and yeah, thanks for another insightful reaction. I love Ram, but actually did not care for it when it was first released. I loved the rawness and for the most part stripped down nature of his previous album, McCartney, so much that the more layered production of Ram did not sit well with me for a while. Love it now, though.
After watching this wonderful in-depth genius of a review, I went back to listen to the album which I have many many times with a different perspective… your perspective. Your one talented special young lady. Don’t forget Aerosmith Rocks and/or Toys in the Attic. 😁
Wow thank you for the bottom of my heart for the high praises!!! I am glad you were inspired to get back and give another listen through!! This album is definitely a life changer!
And thank you for mentioning your recommendations!! I love you for that! And I am stoked to tell you Aerosmith is in fact on our list and I will add Toys in the Attic ! ✨✨✨
You made my evening when seeing this video posted! Thank you 😊💓! I hope you review other Paul McCartney albums in the future!
So great to see you back again, Crystal! RAM is one of my favorite McCartney albums. So interesting, playful and geniously written. I never get bored listening
to it. The same goes for your reactions/review. 👍
Wow thank you so much!! You are the kindest soul! 💜💜💜 Much love to you & your epic name! Gorgeous!
@@CrystalMarieShannon 😃Thank you! 💜It´s my band name. Real name is Tony.
Very nice, this is some classic stuff! I think this is one of his better albums...Hope you are doing great!
This album was so phenomenal!!! I’m so excited to see everything that Sir Paul McCartney has in store for all of us and a mere peasant like me!!!
Hi Crystal. Just a quick note. The trailing part of the "Ram On" reprise is actually a hint of things to come. It is a snippet of a song called "Big Barn Bed" from Paul's following album "Red Rose Speedway". Love your reactions, and Love you too Crystal.
Crystal, dear, it was a while in coming, but it was worth the wait.
Thank you dear Buck!!! Love you!
Another great video. Thanks again! And I love your new avatar.
AHHHH thanks for noticing buddy!! :)
HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY, PAUL! 🎂🎸🎹🎤🎶
Great review! I learned a lot from you...again. 🙂
It's a ridiculously good album that seems to be more popular today than when it was released.
Yay, it's finally here! It's a good thing I waited until this week to watch Part 1!
Hmm, Eat at Home has a bit of a glam rock feel to it. Never noticed that before.
Ram On has a pretty cool Beach Boys motif in it.
I love the section of Back Seat of My Car where he sings 'Ooh we believe that we can't be wrong'. Such a beautiful defence of love (sex).
Me encanta cuando vas lanzando palabras y frases en español
Great analysis of one of my favorite albums. You bring up some points I have not thought about. You should do a reaction of his Chaos and Creation in the Backyard album from 2005.
John Lennon’s Imagine album is an album you must check out. It’s a great companion to Plastic Ono Band. Two of the best solo Beatles albums
Yes! I can’t wait to see Crystal’s review of “Imagine”.
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ She's in for a surprise!
PS I love your user name.
If you get a chance, go check out “Rode All Night” on UA-cam. It’s a track recorded during the “Ram” sessions that got left off. It’s essentially a jam track, but it rocks.
My sweetest friend Sweetish!! I appreciate and adore you 🧡🧡🧡 Thank you for your grand contribution and donation!!! I will run to check it out now and share my thoughts with you right away!
@@CrystalMarieShannon Yay! 😊😊😊
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ okayyyyy I am back from listening!!! I made the mistake of starting off by only plugging in one ear phone at first and that intro was so long I thought I had missed the vocal from the other ear and ear lugged both in and restarted! had no idea what I was in for! definitely a wild roller coaster adventure! impressive how he was able to keep that harsh rock tone the whole way through! talk about stamina & the percussion was such an explosive driving force throughout
@@CrystalMarieShannon Yes! Im so stoked you gave this a listen and enjoyed it. 😊😊😊 I think it shows that rockier side of Paul some critics overlook.
Paul at his playful best on this album. I don’t think his more wistful songs like Blackbird and Yesterday would fit (and later, songs like Waterfalls and Here Today). Here he’s doubling down on the side of him that adopts characters and has fun.
Nicely done!!
Thank you so much Walter!!! ☺️☺️☺️
Having done three solo Beatle albums, that just leaves Ringo, and naturally the obvious choice would be his 1973 "Ringo" album, and even though this is his third album Ringo always considered his 1973 LP as his first real album (hence the designation of his 1977 LP "Ringo the 4th" lol), and after all you can't leave loveable Ringo out, right? 🎶🎶🎶
Another great review!
Crystal. Paul McCartney will be playing a concert in Baltimore, Maryland (My hometown) Tomorrow at Oriole Park at Camden Yards (The Home of The Baltimore Orioles). My nieces sister-in-law and her father have tickets to see the show. Her and her father are big Beatles fans.
Love your reviews. “RAM” is my favorite McCartney album (and favorite Beatle album post Beatles.) Brilliant. Ahead of its time. And if I HAD TO pick my favorite McCartney (post Beatles) song, it would probably be “Backseat of My Car.” Ooooohhh, we believe that we can’t be wrong (with his little Beatle “yeah” thrown in) 💙
So happy to see this!
“Heart Of The Country”-Paul’s country and folk paean to his farm in Scotland. His vocal scat singing is an homage to “Dang Me” by Roger Miller. Miller does the same thing on the song.
“Monkberry Moon Delight”-Paul’s “Hey Bulldog”. Love it. It’s so crazy yet so much fun. No other song with lyrics such as “So I sat in the attic a piano up my nose and the wind played a dreadful cantata”.
“Eat At Home”-This one’s a Buddy Holly homage. John Lennon really liked this one. One of my favorites from “Ram”.
“Long-Haired Lady”-My least favorite track from the album. It goes on a bit long for me. I think the “love is long” refrain is reminiscent of “Hey Jude”. Maybe just me.
“Ram On” (reprise)-Paul used to go by Paul Ramon in the early Beatles days. George was Carl Harrison and John was Long John. LOL. I like “Ram On” and the reprise is something Paul would revisit often in his solo career.
“Back Seat Of My Car”-Glorious. One of my favorite McCartney tracks. George Martin did the score uncredited. Very Beach Boys to me, too.
Crystal, someday would love to see you react to “McCartney” Paul’s first album. It’s much quieter than “Ram”, but worth a listen.
Yes!!! Hello!!!!!!!! So so so so happy to see you here amigo!!!!!!!! You always make my day!!!
Heart of the Country- that’s beautiful, I had no idea!! And now I wanna do some research on Roger Miller!!
Monkberry Moon Delight: SO MUCH FUN! Those lyrics are honestly so beautifully artistic and metaphoric!
Thank you for all of your insights! I appreciate you more than I can ever express!
@@CrystalMarieShannon Ditto, mi amiga!!!
Nice review. You have such endearing impressions of most songs in your vids. What are the currency icons about in some of the comments ?
This is Paul`s masterpiece. "The back seat of my car" is a classic.
RAM is my favorite!
@Crystal Shannon I am so glad you got to hear Side 2 finally! I am so happy you enjoyed it! There are so many Paul McCartney albums you need to hear! Whenever you are ready to go back to hearing a McCartney album, I suggest you listen to it in this order: "Red Rose Speedway", "Band On The Run" and then "Venus and Mars". After that, it is up to you to continue on since he has many albums that go well into the 80's, 90's, and 2000s-Present! Hope all is well! When I am back to work, I am gonna start donating to you (Currently laid off from work but headed back by July).
