Don't know how long the Referee has been officiating matches, but he's definitely damn good. He saw the kids head slam, then immediately ran over, intervened, and called for medical assistance. He's obviously more competent than certain MMA officials I've watched; who've let fighters continue, after they're literally unconscious or can barely stand! Kudos to the Referee!!!
Agreed, super good ref! That being said, you have to be braindead to compare reffing wrestling and MMA. You and me could ref an amateur wrestling match with just an hour of briefing before the match, you couldn't say the same about MMA. So yeah reffing wrestling is different from reffing wrestling, boxing, muay thai, taekwondo, kenpo/kyokushin/shotokan karate, BJJ, sambo, sanda, judo, kickboxing, etc all at the same time. And the final point is that you cant compare a collegiate wrestling match with fights worth 10s or 100s of thousands $$, some refs just want to give the fighters every chance they can to make a bigger paycheck.
Well it is different because these are young athletes, probably high school maybe but they are essentially wrestling for free and have so much of future ahead that no ref wants to be the one who assists in permanently injuring someone. Like the person said above me, with professional fighters or wrestlers there is money involved. Those refs want to give those professionals a chance to do something and sure, they have let some guys get absolutely destroyed even when they are maybe already unconscious but there is so much money involved with tickets, ppv sales and the actual purse for fighters that I believe they are trained to let things go and just see what can happen. I've actually seen MMA fighters get the glassy look then come out in the next round and recover or crazy enough, come back to win. I agree with you that it may not be right in the long run for some fighters but again, money is involved

I played football for 6 years and that's something that was explained to us in detail and that's not well explained to other sports people think just cuz they regain Consciousness and they're able to start wrestling again or get back in the game they're fine but you can still have some form of a concussion you more than likely do a concussion may not come up on an MRI but you still very well can't have one.

It’s scary, but it happens. I’ve even seen someone get knocked out simply wrestling from the bottom. But you get your head on the wrong spot with some force and weight, and you can easily lose consciousness. Like others have said, good on the ref for his immediate recognition of the situation.

Imagine if this was the mother recording her kid getting knocked out.
It was
dude looked super confused that his opponent was just out. I doubt he's ever seen someone go unconscious in a wrestling match.
wow , whoever labelled this "graphic content" probably hasn't watched the UFC .
Three Stooges are 100% more graphic!
I think sometimes people forget that this is just fighting for sport, that protective gear doesn't protect you from everything
Huge difference in talent. The turd that got his ass kicked had no business on the mat
I have so much respect for women who can keep their composure under stress
Ok?
he can still crawl, he can still brawl - Mario Yamasaki
Crazy how 9y ago this needed *graphic content*. Nowadays 75% of the internet is people getting knocked out
I'm confused. 1) Why wasn't that a pin? 2) That has concussion written all over it - why was this boy allowed / made to continue?!? If you get knocked out in a wrestling match, the other fighter should be awarded the win and you need to be checked out by a doctor. This is high school for crying out loud.
it wasn't a pin cause the stopped the damn match cause the kid got knocked out lmao...
C’mon dude the dude got
Knocked how would that be a pun... use your head
Safety trumps continuing the match (ie the ref looking for/calling a pin). Secondly, they are not "fighters".
I agree Bill T. I'm gonna tell my wrestlers unless the ref stops the match, pin the knocked out wrestler. If the ref does stop the match, the conscious wrestler is awarded the win.
@@slicknick8598 Really dumb question but here is how...he slammed him and then laid on top of him with his shoulders down. That's a pin, the ref just needed to slap that count.
This is the reason you are explicitly taught not to suplex someone on their neck/ear.
My prayers for this young man I hope his spine and his neck are OK..
Une blessure 'comme cela moi j arrête la lutte le corps après sera fragilisé
The wrestler doesn’t even care his opponent is knocked out or worse .
As a parent my heart fucken dropped.
Stop using profanity! Thank you!
I remember this happening to a teammate of mine, he had to be air lifted to the hospital it was pretty bad to see. Safe to say none of us really ever tried a head and arm takedown after that
keep in mind he's wearing a purple vest, and he knocked someone out, HE IS THE MAN BEHIND THE SLAUGHTER
In what high school can you continue wrestling after a concussion? That looks like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
That’s a DDT, wrong wrestling kid.
But still both of them are very brutal I had to quit amateur wrestling in high school because of bullying
Yeah, was going to say it was almost like an accidental DDT.
Happened in a soccer match and the fans said....Clean right?wrong. No matter what you think knocking someone out or injuring them to score points is not a part of sports.
I saw it when he was flipped the way he landed , that could easily be a broken neck or fracture. He was trying to keep from getting flipped .
I got slammed on my neck and sprained it. Had to keep wrestling
Somebody get that ref a beer
Looks like he was dropped on the top of his head. Happened to me once, I wasn't knocked out but boy was I seeing stars. If it don't knock you out, then it will sure keep you on the ground for a little while.
Same. Felt like I was smelling colors for a minute while I got pinned. Lol
And the dad had finally come to a agreement with mom that he wouldn't play football and they'd focus on wrestling
Dude really had no way of knowing the guy was knocked unconscious, you can barely even see when the top of his head hits the mat.
This dude was lucky if he avoided a concussion that happened to me and i was slamed down and i was out like a light
There's no way he doesn't have a concussion if you lose Consciousness you're guaranteed to have a concussion you may not have a severe one but you're going to have some form it can be a micro concussion or it could be something as bad as a severe concussion.
IN MY VIEW
The opposing wrestler looked like he was genuinely shaken when he realized his opponant was unconscience.
Nice to see he has so much concern for his fellow wrestler competitor . Its Its okay son ... im sure you still win ! You better or someone else will get the fk knocked out .
Thank god he was ok. God bless him.
Why thank god? Didn’t he just let him get knocked out?
I use to wrestle everyone in school, I put alot of bullies on the floor fast, but one day I got arrogant and some little bastard put me down like a sack of potatoes, he had that skinny power
Jesus is God
@@BornTwizted87 Jesus is God you nerd he put himself in woman your Dumb
That didn’t look like a rough landing?... unless the other wrestler broke his opponents neck?..
He got slammed straight onto his head. Having not only your own bodyweight but another's on top of that landing on your noggin is more than enough to put someone to sleep for a little bit.
It really doesn't take a lot to knock someone out lol
Rewatch that, the landing was pretty brutal
Casual allert
2 body weights landing on your head.
Send me location - lets see how you fare
I landed on one of those Mats head first it is not fun
Landed on his head knocked himself out
That ref is great being able to see how he was knocked out and stop the match without hesitation
Was this legal?
yes was a legal throw, wasnt a slam, in my state a side body to body throw is legal
legal
what state is that? do you mean like a mat return or a hip toss?
No that's illegal
One of the few times slowing down the playback speed to .5 makes the fall astronomically more brutal. You can see just how hard his head hit the ground and the instant whiplash in a fixed position, it honestly highlights how gross this bump is.
I will give you some expert analysis here.Hes Out!!!

Wtf are u talking about?
@@robertwalsh8119 he on drugs...lol
I remember seeing a kids bone sticking out of his arm during a match. that was graphic
Love the people in the stands making it a big deal. Those are the parents that have no idea about the sport
Kid picked the wrong sport. Even the other competitor is super confused. Dude's way too fragile
That's a good way to break another wrestlers neck. Bad form. Smh...
Pretty sure he didn’t do it purposely
Why is that bad form? He was doing what he was trained to do.
Lil bro thought he caught a case!
FINALLY a video on the internet where they didn't shake and pull a KOed guy.
OMG! Graphic, I got PSD now!
He’s definitely not okay.
It genuinely doesn’t even look like it hit that hard. Kind of scary that something like that can still knock you out with head protection.
The guy actually died, severed spine, it was big news when it happened. Rip, feel really bad for his family in the audience who had to see this
Definitely sucks, wrestled for 8 years last year of my high school career I volunteer to wrestle 3 classes above my weight class, make it to the quarterfinals, select the bottom position, a dude 3x my size trips me up and I land sideways he lands on top all I hear is a crunch, turns out he shifted my collar bone and I but straight through my lip. Worse pain I ever felt waking up the next morning.
Bro just slammed his head with 105% power ratio 💀
Buddy got dropped with a DDT
One second in and I already decided the guy in white is the one getting knocked out. The difference in their back posture is incredible.
Wow he really didn’t even look like he took that hard of a hit. Great ref
I wrestled in school and i knew there were 18 lights on the gyms ceiling.
i was a kid watching saturday night main event wrestling with my brother and landed on my head like that and my whole body went numb but i was still conscience...that was about 40 years ago and i still know that i am very lucky to not have been in a wheelchair the rest of my life
As a former 4 year old, this is very graphic content
That kids name is Kurt Angle , he later went on to win Olympic Gold.
The description says "After about 4 minutes of regaining consciousness, the wrestling resumed." I hope not, cause you can't know if there is an injury underneath without further investigation. Bravo to the refereee and to the athlete!
Bro got Kurt Angle'd. Go win the olympics young man
his mom like oh no he's paralyzed, but it's ok
This exact same thing happened to my brother
100% faking it, he was struggling after the hit, then started playing possum to avoid the pin.
His arms went limp immediately.
Good quick reaction by the ref, no charging parent, and most importantly completely unintentional. Unfortunate but is going to happen sometimes.
That ref should be in the ufc. Great work 👍
That's why they have a rule you can't spike your opponents head first into matt
He dumped him on his head these kids don't always know what they're doing
It’s scary, but it happens. I’ve even seen someone get knocked out simply wrestling from the bottom. But you get your head on the wrong spot with some force and weight, and you can easily lose consciousness. Like others have said, good on the ref for his immediate recognition of the situation.

The school in the town where I live, two wrestlers were injured on the same night. One I think broke an arm and the other one ended up paralyzed. He never fully regained his mobility and the doctors don't know why.
