Nice! I don't even play bass but listening to Tool has made me want to learn, love all their bass riffs.
best intro ever ever ever
I've been playing that song wrong for a while now. Always used the low D and the A string. Sounds the same just a lower octive. Thanks guy.
thanks for taking the time to explain the harmony.
Fantastic Teacher, Thank you for all your help in learning all things Tool
Your videos are so underrated!! I loved this man! Thanks a bunch
Super-useful lesson, I just started to play this surprisingly easy bass-line , huge thanks! :)
I appreciate this, Thank you
Thanks, very useful. A bit fast for me, but that is only because I am still quite a beginner. But I can officially now say that I can play Tool! (or part of a song by them anyway).
thank you broo
I don’t have that rhythm yet he goes so fast he never slows it down I can never understand what he’s doing Please make a close up video and please slow it down I’m new to these kind of songs thank you
You should make a video explaining how to do the picking on the song
youre using an octaver pedal, for the last part in this case you would have to claw down on the E string as well as the D string to make that lower sound as well as have the original sound on the High D string
Easily one of the coolest
Do Descending Next!
I am also using Logic Pro. How are you getting that bass sound out of it? Can you paste your settings?
Very nice. Opiate lesson?.....
Do a guitar lesson for Parkway Drive's "Vice Grip" please.
Dude, your lessons are great and you rock, but if you used a bass with fret position markers for lessons it would make it easier for us knuckleheads. Thanks.
Sick tone!
Could you please do a video where you talked about jones' guitar tone, but than for bass??
Thanks
Eventually, yes. Still trying to figure it all out.
axeofcreation thanks ^^
rule one is probbably getting clear new strings? xD i'm a guitarist with a cheap bass and my bass strings are years old i think
+Patrick yes. New strings are a must for good tone. Try Cleartone, use "axeofcreation" for 10% off. You can even create a custom gauge pack.
axeofcreation cool!
i use nanoweb for my guitars, but i heared great things about cleartone.
do you happen to know if they ship/sell it in holland?
+Patrick They ship around the world.
yay
Headstones - Unsound !!!!!!
I'm an older clarinetist who picked up bass a few months ago. It's not the fingerings that trip me up. It's the picking, when to down or up stroke. Any recommendations?
How do you get that tone or effect on the original song? I've been told that you get that with equalization on the amp but I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to amps and pedals... If someone has any good channel or page where I can get information on that would really appreciate it
He has a video about sounding like Adam Jones, where he explains the way to get a similar tone and so on. Im assuming it would carry over to bass as well.
Look up how to get Justin chancellor's tone. His setup is way different than Adam Jone's.
Yeah, totally different approach and rig. Once a get a good grasp on it I definitely will!
+6 String Slinger a lot of his tone is produced by his Wal bass alone but there a thing that Dunlop does that goes over both their rigs
What kind of keyboard thing you have behind you?
M-Audio Axiom 61
Do you like Gojira ?
I must admit I found their last two albums lacked creativity and novelty but the two songs they have released from Magma reminded me of the glorious From Mars to Sirius days, with a more rock and roll twist. I think a lot of your viewers will appreciate Gojira content, and playthroughs of Magma songs may help bring new subscribers to your channel.
I really don't agree cause i saw that in the last two albums they incorpareted more melodic things with the vocals and more quite interesting tapping riffs. All gojira riffs are kinda similar but with all the band together they sound very fresh. Btw gojira content on this channel would be great. c:
Yeah, TWOAF and L'Enfant sauvage are more melodic but I don't think that melody or harmony are Gojira's strenghts, I haven't studied their songs but from what I can tell they like to play certain chords and don't really explore other modes or scales.
The result is that every song on L'Enfant sauvage sounds very similar to me, because they lack the rythm-oriented parts that created contrast before, plus they're all around the same tempo... It's like they tried to be a more melodic, "intellectual" band so they went with less heavy riffs, but at the same time they wanted to keep the Gojira sound (or didn't have the musical theory knowledge ?) to come up with melodies that didn't sound the same from what they did before or from song to song.
I do like Gojira and am very much looking forward to their new release!
Hammer on I’m guessing
Eulogy?? Maybe??
don't you use pinkie finger? that would save a lot of hand movements.
Wow im never gonna learn this song my g doesnt sound like that i need
try tuning your bass..or new strings?....
Right in two please
InNickWeTrust665 If it's the guitar section you're looking for, he's already done a full tutorial.
Daniel Lazenby yeah, i meant bass, forgot to add that part
InNickWeTrust665 Sadly you won't find Right In Two on there, but if you ever need tabs for Tool, you can find a variety here; www.tooltabs.net/tabs.html.
Good lesson tho too man!
Oh and some Black Sabbath too
Nobody getting pregnant with this pull off game.
Same with Avenged Sevenfold and Opeth as far as bringing more subscribers lol
It’s a lesson not a look what I can do slow down
