I love yall man, super informative, best GRC info I have found. Whenever I make the good money I'll definitely visit yall sometime and chose you for any mods I cannot take upon myself. Cannot wait to see that thing hit the course!
According to Neat Gearboxes, the issue isn't just with the OEM hub. "The OEM material and design of the synchro and key groove are both causing issues. The only solution that we can come up with is to redesign the synchro assembly to prevent the accelerated wear from occurring. " Sam Charlick - Neat Gearboxes.
That actually explains why 5th gear feels so strange to shift into. I've never mis-shifted my car, never done anything that would damage the transmission, and yet.. The 5th gear shift always feels kind of like I'm shifting through a wet bundle of twigs lol. (Also, entirely stock, just an aftermarket shift knob and drop in filter.)
This reminds me of my 18 gti. Burned synchros like crazy. I love my grc, but I'm not thrilled about having a glass cannon transmission again, especially if it grenades while the car is stock (wife's ultimatum she's tired of me being a gearhead with all of our dailies)
Thanks for the video :) It gives me a bit of a heads up on these cars, as I am considering either a GR Yaris or GR Corolla. Cheers Don, Perth WA (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)
I just feel kind of a lot of whiplash with these cars. I just bought one, but wasnt planning to (since they're rare, marked up, and already expensive.) But once i drove it, i had to have it. Now, I'm sort of regretting it. Feels like you can't add 5 hp without something breaking. I just wanted to beef it up to 350 without basically buying a whole new car (rebuilding everything) Then i go to fb and reddit and everyone tells me it handles 350+ all day without replacing anything (save for the performance ones)
Stock trans is funky that’s why the warranty is important until you know you don’t have a junk trans from the factory. After a few thousand miles I’d say you could start modifying it and 330 torque is the limit I’d say until the trans would have issues
Serious question, how much is the transmission, and how much is the way you drive it? You could try cryogenic, micro shot blasting, coatings...idk. I'd love to see what could be done to stock vs just dumping nearly half the price of the car on a sequential. Mainly because I cant afford that 😢
Yeah and we drive our car around for 2k miles before it broke. There’s no answer to when it breaks it’s more of a matter of time situation once you start pushing big power
Just a pity these transmission are so fragile compared to BMW ZF transmissions that can literally run more than double the power on stock transmissions
So many issues with these new gr's the reason why you don't see people like ekanoo racing documenting it is because they have unlimited funds and have changed literally everything 😂
You guys are true warriors in the GR community. I'm learning from everything you guys break lmao
"take one for the team" is what we live by lol
@@NemtecRacing Hope you guys keep breaking stuff, so we can keep learning 🤣
Getting better on camera every episode. Natural and authentic. Good on you.
Appreciate it! it'll come with time
Mine was jumping out of 2nd gear , got it fixed , Toyota paid all costs luckily and fitted the updated input shaft
this is exactly what happened to mine -- full replacement under warranty pending... dealership tells me there is a backlog of transmissions
I never thought to take the bloody pin out of the selector! Today I learned. Thank you!

Appreciate the words and the support my guy!!!

Cusco has a set of revised synchro hubs that are much better and can handle power from what I’ve seen. I think it’s ~$1k for the set of 3
I have a 80 miles brand new transmission on my circuit for same issue stuck on 5th and 6th gear last month. Arroun 450whp

Yeah definitely not the greatest design from the factory

I love this guy. I havent pulled the gun on any aftermarket parts on my grc yet thank you nemtec
Very interesting video, unfortunately I’ve been waiting for my car for a while and it’s good having this knowledge prior.
Hopefully your car comes in soon.... thanks for watching the video! let us know if you got questions etc once it does come in.
Brilliant!! Thank you, I am a GRY owner in the UK. I have also been speaking with Neal and he is a great guy!!
Hell yeah bro. Tell Neal you watch the videos lol so he knows the gangs all here!!

Appreciate the support!!!
That transmission looks very fragile...
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing this info!!
I just got me a Gr Corolla it’s night and day compared to my VB WRX but pretty on par with my 07 sti. In my opinion
Well the GD sti platform is the greatest chassis ever so that good words to hear
I'll be seeing y'all Saturday morning at 100aw!
Our car broke early Friday…. I appreciate the support man it means a lot hopefully next year 100aw is better lol
It'd be very interesting to do full bolt on & tune build with your mom's car for everyone who isn't do as crazy of a build!
Will still break

I don't even own a Yaris/Corolla GR ( for now😅) but very interesting video! Lot of informations😊.

It’s the transmission. People have stock cars break the transmissions just regular driving…. The Cusco hubs will fix this problem at least
And I thought us VB owners had it bad with the trans 🤯
Any update to the trans for the 2024 model year? Or does this issue carry over to those as well
I have a 24 core completely stock but I haven't had any issues with any gears yet with just shy of 3k miles
Didnt lamspeed run low 10s on the stock trans though multiple times
Yeah and we drive our car around for 2k miles before it broke. There’s no answer to when it breaks it’s more of a matter of time situation once you start pushing big power
Thank you for the sacrifice transmission.

good one
3 grand is not that bad to fix it.
right, nothing crazy
It is considering that apparently stock grc is breaking under normal driving and the car is 40k. For 40k this should not be an issue
@@SoFarFromCrust I hope it doesn’t break on stock car, I own one.
Wow how many shifts you guys miss to create such a mess?
A lot lol…. Well a lot of second gear shifts. We never missed 5 th gear it just did that by its self
@@NemtecRacing Some driving lessons in order?

Thats what we are here for lol. My "unlimited funds" are running out if we gotta keep fixin this stuff lol! thanks for support!
Thought about modding the car ... Watched a few videos... Nope its staying stock 😂
Yeah definitely don’t give this shit away for free
Great videos, but please invest in a camera stabilizer :) 🤮
Thank god i bought fiesta.
The copium in this one lol
👀
Cheaper to build a gtr trans 😅
First
Money!
