Возможно, что многие современные "кавказцы" пошли от пса, которого после ВОВ с Альп на Кавказ привез мой дед, еще до войны получивший высшее ветеринарное образование в одном из ведущих тогда высших учебных заведениях Европы по данному профилю (в бывшем Варшавском ветеринарном институте). В первые дни после войны специальный отдельный противоэпиозотический батальон, в котором в тот период (т.с. "на легкой службе" после ранений) служил прошедший всю войну (5 ранений, 2 контузии, 2 уведомления домой о пропаже безвести, 3 ордена и много медалей) мой дед (кубанский казак по проихождению) на несколько недель отвели на отдых в находившийся где-то на границе Австрии и Чехословакии альпийский городок. Там его к себе на постой пригласил местный ветеринар, у которого было целое имение, и какой, в частности, занимался разведением местных альпийских пастушечьих собак (дед говорил, что они были очень большими, "волохатыми" и имели покладистый по отношению к человеку характер). И вот этот ветеринар был подарил деду щенка этих собак, которого дед после последущей в конце июля 45-го его демобилизации привез в Муртазово (Кабарда), откуда в начале июля (буквально спустившись с гор) 41-го дед добровольцем (у него была "броня") ушел на войну. И там этот уже подросший этот пес был буквально "нарасхват" для вязки с суками местных пастушечьих овчарок. Дед часто вспоминал того пса (кличка у него была "Пират"). Вот так.

My special needs son used to visit a farm where they had caucasian shepherds one of them always used to make a beeline for my son and follow him all day keeping him out of trouble.
I have an Ovcharka called Beowulf he is calm and dotes on my daughter , finds games to play with her. Beautiful dogs.

Thank you. Have a good one too. I have had dogs all my life. German Shepherds and Labradors and an Old English Mastiff. In loyalty and devotion, intelligence and playfulness the Caucasians are one of the best.
I have one and they are wonderful breed, they are funny goofy and will turn into Grizzly Bear when necessary.

Do you feed raw? I have a CO and started feeding her raw early on when I first got her then switched to kibble. Found it difficult to feed raw and worried about nutritional balance
Raw vs. dry, continuing debate. Both could work well. Dry is easier.
raw is the natural way. imagine it like this: 70% musle meat 20% bone + plus the marrow 5%liver and 5% fiber from fruits and vegetables in 2 meals a day

@@abomination2024 I’ve given it a shot but she eats so much it’s proven a bit difficult to manage. I think getting a designated freezer just for her raw food would assist i making the process easier.
@@privateprivate4315 you could make the first meal be kebel mixed with boild eggs and a vegetable in there. meat is a lot denser food than kebel so the dogs will get full easier. but they could eat 10 kg in a sitting for sure

No
Caucasian Shepherd is a unique breed. They stay alert in their own guarding territory, and become very calm outside their guarding territory. Hope that answers your question. It is a good question. Will make a video about that when I have some time.

Just like a German shepherd temperament. They aren't protective out of their territory unless there is danger.
