You have to appreciate the effort Stavros goes to to make a simple driving & discussion video visually interesting, with no less than FOUR different cameras. Some trucker channels will just throw their phone on a suction mount and call it a day.
So, is that mpg real? Comes out to 14.4 liters/100 km, which is indeed extremely low.
"a tree hit it." No. YOU hit a tree... lol
We finally had out new XF delivered last month after a 18 month wait on the build, they honoured the price of £89k when we ordered it. Dealer offered us £36k to just walk away from it. Shows how much the prices & demand has increased.
Its nice to see someone showing something for sale , and first showing the issues first , that's showing how honest you are 👍🏻
In malaysia a lot of recondition from Ireland truck , here we convert to 6x4 pull load between 60ton to 80ton load , in malaysia we remove adblue system and upgrade from 4x2 or 6x2 to 6x4 big hub reduction. Like this horsepower we pull very heavy load and use 4 years to 12 years
@@astafford8865 there's no regulations here at all governing trucks, absolute zero, nothing on hours, nothing on licensees, nothing on max loads, nothing on inspections, just keep the the pockets filled
The air conditioning can be serviced. By removing refrigerant and replacing the drier and some other improvements your ac performance can be greatly improved.
I vote for sell and line up for a new DAF. Comfort from AC + Mirror-Cams would be worth the wait. 🙂
IDK if I’d get rid of it. Pretty incredible MPG. Service all the issues. Extend warranty. She’s a keeper.
A new 6x2 T High 520 for that price sounds neat.
Serious question Stavros, how are you guys surviving with the current fuel price? It must be very difficult to be fair.
gets passed onto customer
@@mightymizzar9672 True but that wouldn't resolve the immediate issue of cash flow I guess.
@@johnjames01 cut costs/pass on to customer lower profit margins etc..
Fuel prices no concern in logistics it is the cost of carrying a load and customers pays for it. Fuel prices increase. So is your your customers price.
Totally agree with price list issue. Obviously if you’re a big fleet operator you’ll get decent deals but there should be a standard stock price then all options priced. You can go on to a car manufacturer and configure the car you want with the options you want etc and get price. You can buy the same spec truck on a Monday and a Tuesday and have different prices….
Wish we still had cab overs in the USA
Excellent video love the different camera angles interesting to hear about the market in buying trucks I personally like the new daf I think it’s an awesome design and for the work you do I don’t be,ieve you need over 3000nm of torque looking forward to the next video
Selling the truck is not economical. It is like selling a normal car at 20k km. It barely is broken in. Better put in a few grand to improve the truck. My thoughts.
Not worth it mate you'll get more value running it in the fleet than you would selling it for a short term gain
You should get some slightly bigger hose that is split and slide it up and around the area of the hose where it rubs then it won’t ever be an issue.
Stavros the NGD DAF is the way forward 👌👌👌👌
The new Daf XG is a cracking piece of kit, ..How about an ex demo truck as they always seem to have the extras fitted and save on price rather than buy new...
Lee it's junk
@@kp-qr6hy Maybe to you we don't all have to agree
Keep the S580 For another 20 years
The price hike on the new DAF generation makes sense. Up until the last Euro6 XF they were still based on their 90's design from the very first XF. This generation is all new and more premium than they've ever tried to be. I see a decent amount of them on the roads already here in the Netherlands, so they must be doing something right there.
Unfortunately the new xg is a backward step in many areas
Hi Stavros if you do Scania's online configurator you can get and estimated price to see about how much your lorry would cost. Volvo and Renault don't have one and MAN's and Mercedes is shocking but IDK if they give a price. DAF and Iveco's are decent (when they're not doing software updates) and Iveco certainly gives a price but DAF only gives a price for the older generation XF's before these new ones, I believe.
Keep scania will work out better in the long run..
Great video, very interesting to hear some insider intel from a truck operator.
But I have to ask...did the tree really hit your air horn?
Hi stavros. You can get airline jointers for your leaking airlines. It won’t be a permanent fix. It would do the job for a year or so.
Keep keep keep, can't see you driving a daft. I can see you in a Shania 770s xxl cab!😂😂
Enjoyed the video chap..I can see you in a DAF XG+...Excellent
Very honest review, thanks Stavros
You liked that DAF XF with the air suspension is that a option
could you do a video on when your making your order take us too the dealership
and when you go and pick one up
Hey Stavros, I guess this truck is still worth being kept in Rory Lynch... Few repairs here and there and it's going to be fine. The air conditioning problem is really common in Scania trucks is really common and well, can be fixed with a detailed repair. But this truck still is a nice one:)
Hmm not sure but the FH turbo compound sounds to be good relative value.
You've answered your own question with a question
I saw an XG+ in California last week. It had a manufacturer plate on it, so I assume Paccar was testing something on it for the NA market. It looked REALLY out of place here.
Keep it Stavros.
Beautiful v8 scan mate
Got a 2017 November registered Scania s500 high cab tag axle with 738,000kms on it and been told by the office that getting new Scania 660s high cab tag axle in July sometime apparently. Im also hitting that lane departure button every single time it goes off whenever it wants I swear. Also I find that the apple car play doesn’t even want to connect sometimes. Plug it in and doesn’t even charge or connect then I turn off the truck for 5-10 minutes then will plug in fine again. 😂 also I find the air con terrible hardly blows cold.
I have 11/2018 s500, having done almost 600k now. Things you have gone bad.. well, my mirror case rattles when i close the door. Thats it.
About being too economical is that counter does not count milage after 100k, yet counts burned litres, so it calculates wrong. Just reset and you'll be fine.
keep it
Yes
There is not a truck better value for money in the last 3 years than the Renault T-high, what's factored into that price which the other don't offer is the 4 year bumper to bumper warranty(atleast it is in Northern Ireland). New Evo is doing better on fuel too.
Can you do a video on your cameras on the truck, amazing , how is it powered??
yes
The next gen scanias can be optimistic with range at one point the 2017 r500 6x2 i drive thought it did 500 km/l
Hi stavos I think you should keep the scania s 580 for a littler while long. keep the great videos coming take care
It would be awesome to see Stavros driving a Renault T High Evolution or a DAF XG+ on a daily basis for RLT
Or Actros Gigaspace with Mirror as he is 6ft2 he will want the headroom when getting around the cab.
The Renault is a complete waste of money don't even consider one
Will you be at the truck fest 2022 on Sunday
Watched your video for the second time brilliant. (just wanted to ask)? what is the make of the white video cameras mounted on your windows the quality is outstanding cheer 😊
On a more recent video I noticed he had Sony 4k cameras mounted. Can't remember precisely what video it was in. I've watched quite a few in the month I found his channel. Better than TV.
@@RayBoylan-zo7sg I agree a lot better and always interesting 👍👍
What's your thoughts on the iveco sway
hi Stavros, keep it
Hello, the truck looks good, i will come in Irland next not for that one but for the old scanias. Greetings From Burundi .
Sell now while you have the chance Stavros, would be nice to see a T-High 520 in RLT colours. A lot of truck for the money and a great truck at that.
Hi
Keep it and take care of it.
Cheers
It it were me I would keep it. I was banging around in a 500s for a bit the other year. It my opinion not much can top it.
Great vid as always Stavros. How are the tyres performing?????
Still plenty of thread after 134,000 kms now, however the rears are loosing traction easy now when I power on. I’ll update again sometime on them👍
My s580 quality .... only thing it as had are blu problems .....4 years old 520 000 km
220ks in Australia we do that plus in a year. That truck would cost $350000 plus new here we would run it at least a million ks to make it worthwhile
Selling may seem a great options but what you going to do when the business picks up later in the year
Great video stavros .I think you should sell it and go for renault T high. Take advantage of the market. Funny part at the end 🤣 with the pot hole I work in Dublin would gladly give you a bucket 🪣 of Rephelt cheeeeeeers
MAN, Stavros! 🦾🦾
If you get rid of a truck how long do you have to wait for another truck that's the problem
Keep it, its a good truck!!
A new top of the line Kenworth in Australia coverts to about 330,000 euro🇦🇺
Keep it 💯 👌
Well what a wonderful video again Stavros! Also I was thinking if RLT is going to sell the S 580, will you wish consider driving a Volvo FH16 someday if they buy one for the fleet? :)
The next gen volvo is amazing
Turbo compound is what Stavros needs. I wish we could get the turbo compound on cars here in the states especially with fuel prices.
Update: never mind we actually do get the turbo compound here.
@@Mr-pn2eh I can agree on that too. 👍
Personally I'd keep your scania because its a pain to get a brand new truck and you've got a very smart motor already and it's not a bad one
lots of companies started selling/buying trucks every 2-5 years. trailers are 4-5 years. So by their logic yeah sell it.
Will you please please doing full of pipe this year
Please don't sell it
Keep it, delivery times and prices of new materials have increased a lot. But I’m interested how reliable Renault trucks are.
They have Volvo engine and gearbox, so they are pretty reliable. I drove a couple thousand km in a renault and it never let me at the side of the road. Yes It went in the garage a couple of times out of the service but it didn't cost too much to worry about. That happens to every truck.
Stavros969 selling the s580 sounds stupid after spending the money on her keep her in the rlt
Your comment is, in essence, the definition of the sunk cost fallacy. The only consideration driving his decision should be the opportunity cost of switching to a different vehicle (which, in addition to the sale/purchase prices, would include factors such as comfort, estimated reliability, etc.).
Is a good time for selling my friend you said it, but not good to buy, so if you want to keep driving, don't sell it, just wait until prices go back down again
Was the s580 the only scania s in rory lynch?
Defo keep the truck As for 19mpg. The v8 I occasionally drive is far better on fuel than the 6pots. Doesn’t struggle to pull the weight
Deffo keep her, you know what you’ve got.
I think if you change you should change it up and go for a volvo 540 or 500 I save guys still getting 10 or 11 mpg with I save
Drivers: Potholes, potholes everywhere...
Councils: Aye, such a shame. But we've got no funding
Also councils: We'll be creating new cycle lanes going from A to B!
The joys eh? :D
Keep the S580
I really like your videos, a greeting from a follower from Spain.
Me gustan muchos tus vídeos un saludo de un seguidor de España.
Don't sell V8 IS a V8
Hw much fr d 6x2 ,6x4 and 6x6 man
I think Stavros will go for a T Evolution 520... the 3 year warranty + the steering wheel column adjustment (his main complain from the Range T) makes it a good candidate. The other one might be the DAF XG or XG+ but the pirce on this last one is a big question mark.
About Renault, they might have some feedback about the truck (Renault T prev gen) from the unit they have in the company.
If he is considering selling the Scania is because somethings are not going OK. He will not get a top-tier Scania or Volvo with big engine.
So, Stavros, sell.
Let's see how it goes!
hello from finland stavros.😁
Keep er lit staveros the maintenance on the scania will pay off in the long run ,buy a renault you will need a warranty for every year you have it there scrap .
Frankly speaking, keep it, the price may will go higher or lower than now. But sell it, maybe not a lot of money to buy another new truck. So the best desicion is keep it for two years or longer. Wait for another chance to get a new truck.
Ho avuto un r 560 per nove anni, ed è stato un veicolo straordinario mai un problema
If it’s the warranty you’re thinking about would it not be better to lease the truck over so many years
Keep it it's worth it
DAF has less power same as the others you mentioned they should be cheaper ... hard to beat Scania residual price as well as they are one of the best at keeping their value ... back ups another
Don’t sell the truck! Please Stavros you are my favorite truck driver and reviewer. Do not sell it! Keep it my thoughts!😃
what are your thoughts on indian trucks?
make one video on it some day:)
Stavros, I would stay with your S580, the whole world market is up in the air right now, nothing is stable, just hold tight and wait is my opinion
Hi Stavros keep the 580 just look at your old 164 you have
In reality how much does that owe the company now? And it would still fetch money today what would the other manufacturers equivalent models fetch. And as for Volvo now using turbocompound Scania had that 34 years ago then brought it back 21 years ago for the 124-470.
When I worked for the main dealers in the 90’s they went through phases Merc, Daf, MAN but only one manufacturer remained top Scania. So is this the new phase??
Turbo compound was never a good idea, indeed true you gain few more extra horsepower but feeding your engine with exhaust gases is not always good idea...124l 470 had that and wasn't really impressive and many turns it down compared to the 420hp which has xpi injectors in them and develop by Cummins back then...turbo compound need to change good engine oil and most importantly on time....long term usage I wouldn't recommend turbo compound engine. I'm not sure how today's turbo compound engine works but definitely they have improved that compared those days
Scania s 113 400 was their first production turbo compound I believe...
Martin Ryan and sons in cappamore have beautiful ivecos maybe get an iveco if u sell the scania
Hi Stavross. Great topic. Better to deal with the devil you know. Stick with her, look after her but work her hard. Earn $$ with it. It’s a workhorse. 40th anniversary tractor👍🏴🇺🇸
Personally I wud sell while the going is good ok I realise u will be a truck down and probably have to wait a while for a new one but hey it will be 8monrhs by the time my new van turns up but my current vehicle is worth more now than last year but it’s whether or not you can afford to wait??? But good luck in making the choice
Punchestown, Naas, Co. Kildare :-)
Keep it for 20 years 👌
If truck dealers are anything like car dealers, they want you in the showroom. They'll do the hard sell, run you around with financing, and do everything possible to pressure you into a decision *right now*. If you're asking for a price online, they know you're comparing them, and aren't going to be as susceptible to pressure, so there's no incentive to cooperate. Why manufacturers aren't supplying prices is a mystery to me. In the States, the list price has to be available.
Should you sell? You'd get a new truck with a two or three year warranty, which would probably save you a bundle in repairs. Also, you'd have a truck that will be lower mileage, and be more up to date. Downside is it'll be more expensive, and you're going to have to wait. But the market for used trucks seems to be very hot, and this would be the time to sell.
In the end, it's up to your boss isn't it? Even if they get top money for your truck, they'll have to come up with the difference. If it was up to me, I'd be putting in an order for a DAF XF or Renault T, depending on the best deal I could get
Dealers ask "how much do you want to spend?" When asked the price of a truck/car.
Sell it and replace it with the T high evolution.
Stavros wants a new xg so obivous
Keep
