A quick search online would say otherwise, the S770 claims to have 3700 NM (2730 lbft) of torque. The company Freightliner I'm in with the Detroit DD15 is making around 560 HP and 1850 lbft (2508 NM) of torque. After that it just comes down to specific gearing for your needs. Volvo on the other hand could probably offer their Cabovers over here if they really wanted to. Same goes for Daf under Paccar, both already have extensive dealer networks. Scania is part of the Traton group under VW, they bought up Navistar/International a while back. Currently they are entering the Canadian market offering off-road mining trucks last I heard. Aside from the rambling, hehe, these Euro trucks have plenty of power and torque compared to North American rigs. I mean Scania and Volvo both sell trucks all over the world not just Europe, and other countries are gonna have different laws and regulations, and needs to be met.

More pull than a school boy at 770hp! The Europeans have such smart looking rigs. DAF, MAN, Volvo and Scania. Great video Ian and your excitement was palpable here in NZ.
Volvo and Scania work together on many things and its a way of controlling their sector of the market, this tractor would be ideal for picking up trailers of immigrants from the docks and running them in the UK.
Hi Ian from New Zealand I have 2 FH 7t0s and was persuaded to buy a 770 to join my fleet. We pull b double 6 axle trailers And have to say whilst the Scania has better fuel economy my drivers including me prefer the Volvo simply because of cab space and comfort Bed is better and layout in cab is better We regularly run at 55t so its Volvo for me Really enjoy your videos keep up the great work
The scania cab is much better than volvo in my opinion! Bed is bigger and much better for my back and the flat floor is brilliant! Plus the steering is horrible in the volvo with the electronic power steering as there's no feeling through the wheel.
This is one thing I never understood! Are you there for driving or just hang around in the truck. I mostly sleep in the cab if I'm not driving. Space is important but the most important thing in a truck should be the ergonomics of the driving position! just for your own health. The bed of course is important too if you sleep in it. I could write book of the comparison why Scania is better than any other build, I dear say, in the world. If the Scanias S-cab isn't big enough then nothing is. Volvo FH was lost with its mojo for the whole 2nd generation. The driving was awful and the cabin was a fail from the get go because of the tilted windscreen. 1st and 2nd had problems with side mirrors, hiding cars and other objects behind them. The upper boxes and tachograf almost touched your forehead. 3rd gen is much better in these areas. And thank god the over steering is back on 3rd gen! Though I know the sleeping cabs in NZ can vary from European ones in length and height. But the point being why prefer space etc before driving ergonomics. We are drivers, not sleepers for profession. 25y of trucking with Scania, Volvo, MB, DAF and MAN.
