- Come with me on a long half marathon in North Wales, organised by Trail Events Company, starting near Rhyd-ddu and involving a full ascent and descent of Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa).
It may have been July 2024, but the weather didn’t care - see how I coped with sun, wind, hail and driving rain!
I’m a middle-aged, UK trail runner who enjoys the countryside - why not come along with me as I explore new places and find out interesting stuff about them?
If you have any suggestions for runs I might try, or locations to explore, I'd love to hear from you - I always read all the comments on my videos.

@@2barneyrubble Thank you!
Well done I love the TEC events!
@@jime2504 Thanks Jim - that was my first, but I think I will be back - after more training! 😅
Loved watching this, really enjoyed your point of view! I’m the girl in the red pack and yellow socks who featured a bit throughout. Was lovely to meet you briefly during this race!
@@sarahgulley6881 Thanks Sarah, so glad you got to see the video - quite the challenge wasn't it! Hope this brought a few memories back!
A new subscriber, Julian. So glad I found your channel. Il simply love your commentary on the top of awesome foootages. Great job!!!
@@CJ-xp5gs Thank you so much for your kind words! It makes all the difference to know you enjoy watching them too!
Ahh so great to see, as its so hard to describe to others what its like - now I can just show them! 😅 That path at the end caught out quite a few people!
@@Overworkt So glad you found the video! That path! But I still really enjoyed a lot of the run - the descent was great once we got out of the clouds!
Great video, I was there with two friends (we appear briefly with you at the start) and this video really does capture the event very well!
@@alexmasidlover6833 Thanks Alex - so many different challenges on that one, weren't there? And, I guess, that's why we do it!
Great video Julian
I missed you at the start as we were all hiding in the tents due to the rain !!
It certainly was a tough one, probably my hardest to date, I did fall twice on the rocks on the way down( black eye and bruised & grazed all over ) but got round. Sore calf's for the last two days, well done to everyone and the organisers, keep up the videos mate
@@g5ssh Oh no! Sorry I missed you - that shower at the start was a pain, wasn't it! Really sorry you took a tumble, but you posted a cracking time in my book, well done. My calves are fine, but the quads have been pretty tender!
Nice work.. enjoyed this!
@@jackoreilly Thanks for commenting Jack - glad you enjoyed it!
Wowsers weather was incredible, still so many people about! Turned into a nice day at the end! I think I'm going to give this race a miss. I did feel for you at the top, amazing how the temperature changes! 😊
@@debbiestreets4089 Yes - so many lessons to learn - many only small, but they all count! Also, I did some research and saw there was a Sikh charity fundraising walk on too!
Julian. Thanks for sharing. Please do tell some more on the preps and organisation.
@@user-xe2uv6ln6i Thanks! I'll see what I can do!
ooh that was the toughest one I have watched you do. well done for completing.
@@mijzzzz Yeah! That was gritty - needed to dig deep - but you can see how the views perked me up, even with numb fingers and nearly breaking my camera 😱
Just subscribed. Recently walked up Llanberis path and the weather was similar 😩 I’m a runner and interested in doing some trail events. Loved the vid and well done 🤙🏼
Thanks Scott, great to have you along. Shame about tge weather for your walk! Have a look at some of my other videos for ideas for trail runs you might like!
Hi Julian thanks for your video, I'm Anthony who led you the wrong way in the final minutes, nice to meet you!
@@HongKongUncensored Thank you! I missed the last flags too! We were together for a lot of the race - I never saw you in a hat - did your head get cold? 🥶
@@julianberry My head was alright, but I feel the same way for the hand as yours, I thought I might lose my right hand, I tried my best to concentrate grip on my hiking pole to keep blood circulating. It was man vs wild, unforgetable! Thanks for your company!
Fair play , how much running is involved in it ?would love 2 attempted it
@@MrArnie82 The first 2 miles (4k) had 1000ft (300m) ascent, so I walked most of that. Next 3 miles (5k) was mostly all running. Then Snowdon. Llanberis path is about 4miles (6-7k) and I hardly ran any of it. The descent - first part was just scrambling, but the final 3-4 miles was very runnable!
