- This is a video showing you how I install a BMX mid bottom bracket using different techniques. I made a couple mid bottom bracket videos already but I want to combine it all into one video and add some things I feel I missed the first time.
If you're in the market for a 19mm Mid Bottom Bracket, I recommend- amzn.to/3YYsBXU
or a 22mm Mid Bottom Bracket? - amzn.to/40iPtTj

My mission is to keep more bicycle riders in the sport.
Whether you can't afford to take it to a shop,
you don't have a way to transport it to the shop,
you don't have time to take it in for repairs,
or you just want to learn to fix, repair, and upgrade your own bike,
I will help to keep your bike running smooth and you riding longer.
I know it's been a while since you've made a video I hope you're not stopping. Your videos have been so helpful to a guy getting back into the BMX world. Truly appreciate it you've helped me more than you know!
Thank you. I'm not stopping. I have had a rough year that started with a divorce and ended with my father passing. But great things are coming. I'm going to redo a couple videos and then my next new video will be installing a free coaster hub on my bike. WTP hybrid. Thanks for watching.
@@thebasementbikeshop2336 oh man I'm so sorry to hear that. My dad had a stroke this year so I get it, it's like a piece of him was taken away. Hopefully things are looking up for you. I recently picked up my childhood 94 VFR and I'm using your videos to help me learn how to restore it so huge thanks.
It is not a spacer, it is a "sleeve." It is optional. The purpose is for spindle corrosion control. OH yeah, and you need to buy an arbor press if you want to do it "right".
A miter saw with a carbide blade should cut the spindle spacer nicely. Shadow Conspiracy makes a sweet bottom bracket set, stands out from the crowd, love their products.
Every bike should have 19mm mid press fit bearings. They literally last forever
If I am replacing a bottom bracket, could I just use my existing spacer, as it's all ready the correct size?
I've never used a spacer at all.. Just thrown them away..
Or you use washers and a some all thread
Hey Rob I have a 1996 dyno compe and installed a pair of the repop GT power series cranks, when I bought them I paid $40 for the american bottom bracket. I now want to put the cranks on a 1987 dyno compe. And put the power series cranks onto the 1987 but don't want to pay $40 for a pair of American bottom bracket and from what I've seen they are all in the $40 range. But the mid bottom brakcet is cheaper, what's the difference in them can I use mid brackets for these cranks?
@@ericodeychuk8106 the “mid” and “American” refers to the frame’s bottom bracket size. A lot of times, American bottom bracket are just mid bottom bracket with cups to fit American bottom bracket frames. The point of the mid bottom bracket was to eliminate the cups of the American and press the bearings right into the frame. I hope this helps
@thebasementbikeshop2336 so running a mid would be no problem for my repop gt power series cranks?
Mid bb is way better and simple yet more strong, but comes with a price....
exactly, don’t why it’s not on mtb’s press fit 19mm are built for tough and the long haul
