I watch these when my Walmart grocery pickup cart is wayyyyy too full and I need to realize I really do have food to cook at home. At least it helps me hold off for a few more days and use up some stuff that would otherwise go bad.
We have been trying to do shopping for 2 weeks too. We run out of fresh produce after a week so we have to use canned/frozen fruit and veggies. Just have to do what works. I keep a small 3-month-supply prepper panty so we do have food to last awhile if things got really bad. If possible, everyone should keep a supply of non-perishables to last a few months.
I've watched alot of these pantry/freezer challenges, and you did soooo well, especially for the size of your family! Looking forward to watching more of your videos 😀
It is always a good idea to be extra prepared. We have had more than enough food to last us for over a year! My issue is that my car battery is dead and I have to get to work this week! I’m not able to walk a lot because I have permanent nerve damage in my foot and ankle...a tv crushed it on my last job...always be prepared and always be thankful for what you have and for the people who are giving you ideas and inspiration for your situation! Thank you for sharing with us 🙏
I unofficially try to do a pantry challenge every winter it’s good to rotate what we have. I’m not a pepper but try more and more to eat seasonally. There are things we stock up on but that is because we don’t have a cow or butcher our own meat and I try not to let those things go completely down. But I don’t worry about what the stores look like the Lord always provides. So I try to avoid fear based shopping. Something you might want to consider for fresh green when in a pantry challenge is sprouts. The are fairly in expensive but don’t get a bulk bag till you know what you like we prefer an alfalfa sprout seed bag. We are almost able to defrost our big deep freezer to make room for the harvest this summer. Wha who!
Peas are a starch as well as corn. I used to make peas mixed with corn and make a homemade vinaigrette and use a little bit of green onion if I had it instant onion if I have it. The instant onion is better for kids because it's not sharp at all. I was that poor once they had to mix peas and corn into a salad for my supper!
So inspired to go another couple days before our grocery run. We’ve been trying to go as long as possible (11/2-2 weeks at best) between grocery runs. It’s always the fresh stuff that gets us! When we’re out of fresh produce I feel like we’re out of food! Haha so spoiled over here. But there is something so satisfying about filling an empty fridge! Also, it’s so cute when kids pretend to be drinking coffee. 😂 Also also, you are always looking so lovely and put together!
No dairy in hamburger gravy. We've had water or broth and you've already added flour to the ground beef and fat in the pan then add the water season it up and add some gravy Browning or Worcestershire which will give it color or something like that. It is hamburger onions and celery. Everybody makes it differently but that's the standard recipe.
Absolutely loved this. I love the challenge of using everything up and planning around what we have and being safe at home has just made this even more essential. We're doing the same with shopping and only going every other week. My what's for dinner video goes live tomorrow or Friday...tonight we had chicken and beef for a Tex-Mex style spread and we made sure we have enough for today and tomorrow. Love making a 'no cook tomorrow'. We had beef and chicken with flour tortillas and crispy taco shells plus grated cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, a finely chopped red pepper and a jar of salsa, jar of jalapeños to adorn the top. Plus some rice and beans. Tomorrow we'll add black beans to the leftover chicken and beef...and we have more flour tortillas so may switch it to enchiladas or quesadillas to feel different. We still have grated cheese, iceberg, salsa and jalapeños. Wow. Can you tell I love to meal plan and eat?
Hello Mama to Five..thanks for sharing this video..I love rice..😋 with soy sauce..your kids are adorable. Just subscribed to your channel. Stay safe and connected. 😊💞
Wow! You do a great job! And yes, each grocery trip we double up on some pantry and freezer items as well as some household stuff. Not hoarding by no means! But one grocery trip I'll get extra pantry items then the next I'll grab extra freezer foods then the following week I'll pick up extra detergent or dish soap or shampoo etc. Yet sometimes those products aren't available either so I wait until the next grocery haul to try again. I do rotate it out so we are basically maintaining our stock in a reasonable manor. Not getting more than what we would normally use in an average month. However, I will say in our area there are NO paper products available and when they become available its all gone by the time I put in a grocery order.. And lately our meals consist of whatever we end up with after our groceries have been delivered. Its safer this way though, rather than running from store to store to get every item we want or need. 👍 I do love when you post videos like this because it helps me be creative with food also!! So thank you!! ☺
I have enough food in my pantry for a year. I also have my kitchen freezer which is part of the fridge then I have a chest freezer that's not huge that's my deep freeze and I have an upright freezer that was just filled with 55 lb of meat. I live alone but I still cook for 4 to 6 people I share with my caregiver and her little boy and if anybody ever needed anything they could come here and show up in my pantry it's been done before. :-) I also freeze some of that food for me so that I have a meal bank.
Usually I'm good for dinner stuff way longer than when I need to go to the store...I usually need breakfast things and milk, cheese, that sort of things way earlier! Last time I intentionally bought for 3 weeks so I don't have to go until next week.
Love seeing what you are cooking! We usually grocery shop once a week as well, but I tried to do a two-week grocery pick-up last time and turns out it was really only enough for a week and a half. But I am determined, like you, so I am stretching what we do have and making it work until Saturday. Are you continuing to grocery shop every week or are you doing every two weeks now?
I’ve had a neighbour go early in April and than had delivery from our local grocery store. It was expensive but it has helped me because I care for someone with a compromised immune system. I’m hoping what we have will last us till the end of April. I don’t have a stock pile. Might have to get creative in the meat department. Fair amount of ground hamburger and chicken. I’m lucky that we aren’t very picky. Soups and stews at least a couple times a month helps stretch things
Great ideas, thank you! I will have to try the taco bowls. My family would love those. Would you share your taco seasoning recipe sometime? I keep trying to make my own but they've been too spicy for my kids who prefer mild seasoning. I stock up, but then we eat it all and I go stock up for about a month again. I don't keep much of a stockpile on hand right now.
I'm aiming for two weeks of food too, but I have had to go buy more milk. I'm 3 days away from making it to 2 weeks. We have food, BUT it's going to make me get creative. I have no idea what to have for dinner for the next 3 nights.
This was such a fun challenge!! I can’t imagine going two weeks without going to the store!!😳Good job, girl!😉Why don’t our hubbies like being on camera?🤷🏼♀️I usually have to talk him into it!🙄😂Hope we get to see this next haul! Tfs💕
Black beans enter not my household! I don't know why I hate them because I'll eat any Bean that you put in front of me but I think it's because they remind me of bugs! I am so emptomophobic that I can't watch a cartoon bug without scratching!
I love to watch people get creative with what they have! It inspires me and gives me ideas. 😊
Same here!! 😊

Charity is so sweet! You can tell she just loves to be with you in the videos. My girls are like that too.🌷🌷
Aww thanks! She really does 😆
You made more balanced meals than most of the pantry challenge videos on UA-cam. Well done!
I love videos where people try to use up food that they have! Lol, idk why!
Same here! 😊

I love these kinds of videos!!! I’m sure it’s more work but they are so interesting 😂😂 great job!!
Who gets dressed everyday? You’re making us look bad 😂😂
Haha! 🙈 Knowing I’m going to be filming that day helps motivate me 😝
super great video and adorable little baby! So cute. More, please! :)
Your videos always amaze me it is truly a wonderful creative opportunity to do freezer and pantry challenges

*Love the meals! The kiddos are getting so big!*
Yes they are!! 😊
We are trying to wait to go to the store every two weeks too. The chicken bowls in the instantpot are so good. One of our favorites!
So yummy! 😊

Onion soup mix is awesome to roast potatoes with! :-)

You still have plenty to eat in your pantry and freezers! I would be able to go two more weeks or more. :-)

Hi! Beautiful nice vedio wow fresh tomatos

I’d love to stick to every two weeks, but it’s getting harder with all the amount of eggs and milk restrictions!
@@mamatofive1 so true! And never knowing what they will be out of. I did get 3 meal ideas from your video! Yay! 😊

Where r u located to have milk in bag
Hi. What containers are you using to freeze meals?
Tupperware, or glass containers. I’m trying to build up my glass collection 😊
new to your channel where are you located ?The US I don't think has milk in Bags.. ( not sure)

This is the recipe I use 😊 www.familyfreshmeals.com/2013/05/diy-homemade-taco-seasoning.html
Mama to Five thank you! I can’t wait to try it
I'm trying to stay out of the stores as much as possible. So, I aim for shopping every two weeks also. I'm actually enjoying shopping every two weeks.
It's hard to stretch out the fresh produce! I need a deep freeze because I could stretch longer that way!
Yes that really is the hardest part of going two weeks between grocery trips!
I wish we could still buy bag milk here but it's been 20 years since we could :(
I'm aiming for two weeks of food too, but I have had to go buy more milk. I'm 3 days away from making it to 2 weeks. We have food, BUT it's going to make me get creative. I have no idea what to have for dinner for the next 3 nights.
Lol I totally understand! It’s crazy when you have lots of food still but nothing that really goes together, and nothing fresh 🤷🏼♀️
Chili would of been a good thing to make
You could make heaps more out of what was left 😂.... but I would have been wanting fresh food lol
Exactly! 😂
This was such a fun challenge!! I can’t imagine going two weeks without going to the store!!😳Good job, girl!😉Why don’t our hubbies like being on camera?🤷🏼♀️I usually have to talk him into it!🙄😂Hope we get to see this next haul! Tfs💕
Haha right?? 😂
Mama of 5 .Where do you get bags of milk?
