100% using the “wash-your-sister” sauce on my husband bc we need some for next week. I’m so excited for his reaction 😂😂 this is hilarious to me and we have a totally different sense of humor 😂😂
So I’m British and I grew up saying “Wooster” sauce, HOWEVER I’m almost positive people from Worcestershire pronounce it “Wooster-sheer”. There is a city is England called Worcester (pronounced Wooster) which is in Worcestershire (Wooster-sheer) and I think there’s some level of confusion in England due to that. We have a similar confusion with a cheese, Gloucester cheese, where it’ll get called both Gloucester (gloster) and Gloucestershire (gloster-sheer). My husband (American) calls it “whore-sauce”. Can’t take him anywhere!
fellow Brit here who has also called it wooster sauce all my life...until I started watching lots of youtubers, now I have no idea what the correct way is haha!
When you took out the green beans, looked at the date and said "They'll be fine!" I was like, yes, that's my Christine! We don't waste food around here!
My mom made a similar beef stroganoff all the time when I was growing up. You don't need meatballs, you can just use ground beef. Saute the meat with an onion, break it up a little, and then do basically the same thing you did with your recipe. So good!
Thanks for the video! Hot freezer organizing tip if you have an Echo Dot or similar device. It's been a game changer for me and has resulted in less food waste. 1) "Alexa, make a list called freezer." 2) Empty the freezer and as you re-fill it tell Alexa what you're adding. "Alexa, add broccoli to my freezer list." "Alexa add two pounds of beef stew meat to my freezer list." 3) You guessed it! Whenever you remove something let Alexa know. "Alexa, remove peas from my freezer list" etc. 4) Now, when you pull up your lists on the Alexa app on your phone, you have running inventory of what's in the freezer. You can also use this technique for the pantry. And, of course, for your grocery list. For example after I tell Alexa to "remove peas from freezer list" I then tell her to "add frozen peas to grocery list."
Alexa is my fave! Great idea. She already wakes me up, puts me to sleep, and generally keeps track of my life. Oh, she also entertains me with music and podcasts!
I have a list of projects that I want to finish before I go back to work on Monday, and a freezer inventory has been taunting me for days. I wasn't sure how To do it and finally decided on this method using Siri. Have I done it yet? No. Am I officially inspired now? Yes.
Happy birthday! That was the sweetest thing ever. I have noticed over the years how much better Speedy looks and how comfortable he is now. Bravo! By the way, love the games you play with us. Finding us in the fridge, freezer, etc... Very funny!
I live in the OG Worcestershire, in England. The original Lea & Perrins factory is just around the corner from my house, so I can CATEGORICALLY say... it’s pronounced “Woostah-sheer” sauce! But I looooove all the variations you Yankees come up with. 🤣
I absolutely am in love with the channel. It’s so funny because in my head I thought “I wonder how the nuggets were” and then editing Christine came through and said “10 out of 10 would not recommend” and now I can’t stop laughing 😂
Random tip: If you wrap your celery in plastic wrap then foil it will last so long! Like at least a month. We aren’t big celery eaters so I know I’ll be checking my fridge and be like “ oh yeah, celery!” Open it up and it’s perfect! The same tip works well with iceberg lettuce as well!
I'm new here and I LOVE how real you are. Your commentary is exactly the same as my internal dialog when I'm trying to throw together dinner at 4:55pm.
the US loves taking city names and pronouncing them completely different than how the are supposed to be. Theres a town in ohio Russia.......pronounced roo sha
I love a full freezer. I also love looking through my freezer and know I have meals for the hard days to come. Or just the days I am lazy and can pull out a prepped by me freezer meal.
Happy birthday! I was visiting with a friend of mine at the park today and mentioned that I like to listen/watch UA-cam videos while I do housework. She asked who I watch and when I listed your channel she said “oh I LOVE her! It was fun to connect with her through you and your channel. Sending you love and birthday wishes from Spokane ❤️
I love your freezer meals and fridge clean out videos....it inspires me to focus on clearing my freezer and use up the meats I stored instead as of constantly buying thawed meat for convenience. Please make more of these videos for inspiration. Thank you!!!
When the Worcestershire sauce came out and you were like "Okay, listen" I knew exactly what was gonna come next, haha. Why is there a billion ways to say the same thing? English is weird.
Also, there are so many different regional accents in the UK, I am Scottish and would say Wooster-shire (with an i and not ee). However that is not how all Scots will pronounce it. As the lady above say's just call it Lea & Perrins and everyone will know what you are talking about at least in the UK.
The Lodge brand pots are a very good quality substitute for a Le Creuset - I paid significantly less than $100 for one the same size, i think about $70 on Amazon!
Happy Birthday Christine!!!! Love your channel...good to see someone trying to live a normal life during this very "Not normal" time...thanks! P.S. great video
Sales are tempting. However if you can shop from your freezer for one meal a week you could put the money not spent (say £/$5 ) in a savings account. I do this and then use the “savings” to buy the Christmas food shop? Just an idea?
A good olive oil has to be in a dark bottle and has to say on the label something about the process of how it was made, for example "cold pressed" which is the 1st step in preparation. :)))
Tip for canned green beans. Drain and rinse them then add some beef broth or bullion and water, add a little bacon or a smidgeon of bacon fat. Cook them down. It takes the “can” taste out. I home can green beans so the metal canned is hard for me to get down but rinsing them makes all the difference in the world.
I do this bi-weekly now bc of your videos! Now I have rom for thanksgiving! Thank you!!!!! I also love to stock up on reduce priced meat. We need a deep freezer again. Also Happy Belated Birthday!!!!
Next time don't use ketchup - use some tomatoes or stewed tomatoes - trust me. Also use beef broth or water with beef cubes. Just some tips from family recipe - we also add rolls to the beef stew to steam and they become dumplings to serve with the beef stew. Best meal for a cold blustery day - we just had it too during a snow storm.
Great ideas, as always! Has your mom done any cooking while she’s living with you? Just curious what she likes to make. Would she do a cooking with mom video? 😊
😊In Denmark we have "engelsk sovs" - english sauce, but we also have Worcestershire sauce and they are not the same. Today I call it voi -ste -sje. Tomorrow something else 😂. Stay safe
Happy birthday 🎂🎈🎉🍻. Tonight I made a quick vege soup with just can stuff...and seasonings. So good. There was no leftovers...plus ...made a little more room in the cabinet.
Happy birthday! 🎁🎈Pretty flowers. Stroganoff reminded me that I have some sour cream left that I haven't used yet - thanks for the idea. Have a wonderful week.
Happy Birthday, Christine! Thanks for the video. I tend to always find odds n' ends foods in my pantry and freezer and I just have a hard time trying to put a meal together with them, so it's nice to see this put into action. Looking forward to the next vid!
On the stroganoff, I use cream of mushroom and sour cream! It taste amazing! We make it once a month. Also you could have mad meat ball subs with the rolls and the meatballs, just put the meat balls in a sauce pan add you favorite spaghetti sauce and cut rolls in half after cooking place meat balls on them and add cheese, put back in oven till cheese is melted. My kids love it
Happy birthday! I hope you had a wonderful birthday! Thank you for all of your videos. I love that you are down to earth and real in your videos. You are such an inspiration and motivate me to be better in my own life!
I make hamburger vegetable soup that is similar. But.... I brown ground beef or ground turkey. With onion and celery. Add a couple cups of beef broth made from bouillon. All the veggies add. 1 jar of spaghetti sauce with equal jar of water. Some Worcestershire sauce and and pepper. Oh yea and garlic with the onion and ground meat. Simmer till tender. Add more broth if it's too thick. So good!
Since watching this and some other videos it's helped so much in using what I already have and rotating my stuff. It's reduced my time going to the store and reduced my spending on groceries too. Thank you and please keep up the videos
When you have some herb's that are not so pretty put them on a cookie sheet bake them in the oven. Take them out and put in a baggie and beat the crap out of them. And store in the freezer
We used to call it "Who's-your-sister?" sauce when I was in college! I made stuffed cabbage soup with white beans, this morning, and sauteed my veggies in butter and bacon fat. The smell got my cat's attention! Yes, I keep a jar of bacon fat in the fridge, just like mom and grandma. Love your videos!
I made the meatball stroganoff tonight and my picky eater loved it! The picky eater being my girlfriend. Lol. It was a huge hit. Thanks so much for this simple and delicious recipe!

Happy Birthday! I was put a little left over coffee in when I’m making beef stew or brown gravy or beef and noodles, just adds a little extra flavor! My mom and dad always used the left over coffee!
Happy birthday! Also thought I'd share when my boyfriend and I are in the kitchen we never measure spices when seasoning food. He says he "seasons with his heart". Lol
I'm dying, you plated up Pringles and I find this hilarious 😂
It was a lovely platter of eloquently seasoned potato slices
Dave walking past the Alton Brown style freezer seen... slightly judging. "Oh, no. She's talking to the appliances again!"
My favorite ways I've heard it are, "What's-this-here" sauce and "Wash-your-sister" sauce 😂😂
😂
This is how I will say it from now on! Wash-your-sister, freaking hilarious!
Bahahaha! Those are great!
Yes, what's this here sauce!!!!!!!! Haven't heard anyone quote that in soooo loooong!!!! 👍😉

And I always thought that -shire ending was pronounced with a long i ShYre, not long e sound ShEEr
so wooster-shYer sauce
“Teaspoon” , you keep using this word. I do not think it means what you think it means. 😂😂
haha!
Oh Inigo! You made my day.

Christine: "Thank you mom for the salmon!"
Mom: "You stole my salmon?!?"
LOL too cute!!
Seeing those "well browned" sides on the meatballs made my heart sing! That's flavor folks... what do you mean, "burnt?"
My mom made a similar beef stroganoff all the time when I was growing up. You don't need meatballs, you can just use ground beef. Saute the meat with an onion, break it up a little, and then do basically the same thing you did with your recipe. So good!
I've also seen people use leftover roast beef too!
Now, where in my freezer is the roast beef...
Thanks for the video! Hot freezer organizing tip if you have an Echo Dot or similar device. It's been a game changer for me and has resulted in less food waste.

You can freeze it for veg stock too!
You can alao cut off the bottom like you do with flowers and put it in some water! Keeps it crisp or brings back the crisp.
UA-camLoser I usually spin out frozen veggies in a salad spinner. It helps with the watery-ness
@@NaturallyDOPE0990 🤯 brilliant! I’m definitely gonna try that!!
No kidding, Christine. I could watch your videos all day, every day. With love, from another frugal mom. The “fit” part is questionable. 🥰
I thought I was the only person that looks at expiration dates and says, "it will be fine" LOL
I ignore them, 99% of the time. If it smells good, tastes good, isn't moving away from me, I'll serve it.
