At long last, the 7th and final day of the 1988 Sale of the Century Tournament of Champions is upon us.
Finalists Tom O'Brien, Diane Cross, and Linda Credit have each won one game in this best-of-4 match, and the 4th and final game of the match will decide who wins the $10,000 and moves on to play the Winner's Big Money Game for the Mercedes-Benz 190D 2.5 worth $32,195!

Taking nothing away from Diane I think Linda would have won if she was not so impulsive in ringing in during the speed round. She rang in a few times before hearing the full question and that really cost her.

I'm used to seeing 4 puzzles in 20, not 5 in 25. Did they only do 5 in 25 for the TOC?

No. This was the original rule of the WBMG. In mid to late '88, because it took too long, they shortened it to four puzzles in 20 seconds. The odds of winning or losing never changed.
