    Thank you so much for this video and the past tutorial!!! I had tried literally EVERYTHING I could find on the internet but nothing worked until I came across your videos. I do have a slight problem however.. So, when I open Virtual Desktop on my Oculus Quest and open a vr game such as Cooking Simulator VR or anything else, it shows the front cover image of the game but nothing else happens. Stream Vr says "Now playing ......" but nothing is actually happening. I can access the game settings and everything but it's like the game just doesn't really load. Just stuck on cover image. Any suggestions?

      You're super welcome, and thank you so much for watching my vids! Did you start the game from the Virtual Desktop menu or directly from Steam? I'd suggest the first option for the best optimization, and you generally also need the Oculus app open in the background on your PC. It's weird that you can still access the menu of the game but not the game itself. If you just start it, do you hear the sound or anything else from the game or is it just stuck silently on the cover image?

    Hey, so happy to find you and your channel on UA-cam.
    I have a VR Desktop question that I can't find the answer for.
    When my home PC pops up in VR Desktop on my Quest 3, the monitor is very large and feels like its only like 18" from my face. Its uncomfortable and I want to move the monitor back another foot or so like my real computer on my desk. Is there any way to adjust the size or location of the monitor?? Thanks!
    (I left this on your discord but since you said you don't check it much here it is here)

      Hey Trevor! Yeah sadly I don’t have the time to manage the Discord too much anymore. Pressing and holding the Meta button should reset your view, which will place the virtual monitor at the ideal distance from your face. If that fails for some reason(though it shouldn’t), then maybe try changing to a different environment from the Virtual Desktop menu, which should again reset your view and align things properly. Hope that helps!

      Virtual Desktop is just a method of connecting your Quest 2 to your PC. The way to mod Blade & Sorcery or any other game is the same as if you had your Quest 2 connected to your PC via wire, so just download the mods you want and copy them into the Mods folder where you have the game installed. Hi Like and support your video, may i ask if using VR office log in PC with those Virtual Desktop or Immersed VR , would there be any security concern between the linkage or the video data being reviewed or stealth at their server backend ? At the meantime, there may have some password or personal information had been shown up at the virtual office screen , thanks

    • @VRManCave
      @VRManCave  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Arnold! Thanks for the support! As far as I’m aware there shouldn’t be any additional security concerns as opposed to normally using your PC outside of VR. Virtual Desktop simply streams your desktop in VR using your local wireless network, without needing actual internet access. That being said, I would suggest joining the developer’s Discord server and asking there to double check if you’re working with highly sensitive data.

      @@leemarvinhitchmanciaratell3450 Well it's not about the brand or PC itself, but rather the components, so depending on how yours is configured it might or might not be VR ready. According to Oculus these are the recommended specs: Intel i5-4590 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or greater, 8 GB+ RAM and at least a GTX 970, but realistically, if you want to maintain high framerates and visuals that don't look worse than native Quest 2 games, then you'll want at least a GTX 1060 in my opinion. ideally even an RTX 2060.

    I run my Quest 2 from my gaming laptop, Tuff F15.....with a Nvidia graphics card 3060i? I'm new to pc coming over from PS5, but I'm just not sure I have all my setting correct. I play a lot of Project Cars 2, but struggle to get the correct settings that stops random freezing during the race (i'm guessing settings are too high) and/or Choppy looking picture! Any suggestions/videos you would recommend to help a noob like me?!! : )Also, games like Real VR fishing look amazing, but not near as clear as the videos I see posted! I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of my set!! Thanks!

    • @VRManCave
      @VRManCave  2 роки тому +1

      Well, I'll start with the last part, because Real VR Fishing should be one of the crispiest looking of all the Quest 2 games, so make sure you have your IPD and positioning on your head right, it can make a huge difference even for something small like adjusting the angle of the headset relative to your face. Going back to the PC side of things, generally I'd suggest to leave the resolution at the native one that your monitor has, and play around with the details. It really depends on the game but stuff like shadows, foliage, draw distance, population density and of course Ray Tracing is a big one, they can all affect framerate. For Project Cars specifically, do you mean it runs poorly in VR, or in flat mode too? Cause for VR, you generally have to turn the settings way down compared to playing it on a normal PC, although with a 3060ti you should be able to still crank it pretty high. I personally have a 3070 and play most games, both VR and non-VR on high settings, maybe throwing a few one medium in some cases, but rarely. Feel free to ask any questions you might have, or even join the Discord and ask there, there's a link in the description.

    Can I make it so virtual desktop to my quest 2 is using wired ethernet and not wireless?
    my current setup:
    gaming pc is connected via ethernet wired
    virtual desktop
    I ask because sometimes I get a message that my headset is losing wifi signal or that the signal is weak. This doesn't happen often but when it does it is annoying. Is there a way to make sure since it is virtual desktop that the connectivity is using the ethernet on my pc and not the wireless chip on my quest?

    • @VRManCave
      @VRManCave  Рік тому

      If your PC is connected via ethernet, then it's by default using the ethernet, but since your Quest is connected to Wi-Fi, all that still depends on the quality of your Wi-Fi network, even if the PC itself does use ethernet. The signal is likely weak on your Quest because your router is too far. The best way I've found is using a dedicated router strictly for your Quest. You can pretty much get any $50 router and you'll be golden!

    • @VRManCave
      @VRManCave  2 роки тому +1

      5Ghz wireless for your Quest is great, but you’re still very likely to experience stutters if the PC isn’t wired to your router. You can try the free Airlink and see how that works and if it’s decent, you can then get Virtual Desktop which is way better.

      Nope, it shouldn't matter in a standard home networking setup. Hey, whenever I load a game up through Virtual Desktop it doesn't go into a full 360 game, it just stays in the desktop screen with the game on that but I can't move or do anything and it doesn't give me the option to switch to vr mode either

    • @VRManCave
      @VRManCave  2 роки тому

      If the game you're trying to run has both PC and VR modes, then you'll need to activate VR in the game's options. Otherwise, if we're talking about native VR games, you just start them from within Virtual Desktop in your headset and I guarantee it will start in VR mode.

      Is your PC connected via ethernet wire to the router? That's the first thing that you need to ensure. Then you can fiddle around with some settings within Virtual Desktop, but honestly it should be good out of the box.

      Make sure you've allowed Network Access to the Virtual Desktop Streamer App on your PC, it should ask you that when you first start it up. Then if you go into your Quest 2 and open Virtual Desktop, you should see your PC name listed there and be able to click on it.

      So which games exactly don't work? The ones in your Oculus Library? Generally with Virtual Desktop you'll want to start all your games from the Virtual Desktop Games tab, not Oculus or anywhere else. You should see all VR-compatible games in that tab, regardless of platform.

      @VRManCave okay thankyou I figured out how to launch the Oculus pc games now thanks to you, now my issue is they run badly at lease the one or two I tried. I received Asgards Wrath for free with tge purchase of the Quest 3 and I really want to play it but its unplayable with all the stutters and freezing inside the headset and it looks very bad for some reason. For comparison I can run Half Life Alyx max settings with zero issues using virtual desktop so im thinking its something with oculus app/games idk. Thankyou for your help by the way.

    I tried to set up virtual desktop with my quest a year ago but it didn't work well at all. Perhaps I did it incorrectly? I just thought it was my bad internet. Right now it's 15mbps down and 10 Mbps at best it'll be like 40mbps download

      The only thing that matters as long as everything is set up correctly is your Wi-Fi, since it does not use the internet, so you could even have the internet completely off as long as your Wi-Fi signal is strong enough and the PC is connected via wire.

    My dedicated router died so I'm sharing my internet connection through my tower's built in wifi card. MY tower is hardwired through ethernet and the wifi it is transmitting is supposedly a 5 Ghz network. Yet, virtual desktop still says my performance will be degraded. Does that simply mean that not all 5 Ghz wifi signals are created equal? Okay, I know I could look that up online, but it's another comment for your channel. LoL!

    • @VRManCave
      @VRManCave  2 роки тому

      Haha I appreciate you leaving this comment! 5Ghz signals should pretty much be equal in terms of performance, the only variable I can think of is signal distance and penetration. Are you experiencing any actual stuttering or issues? Because the fact that VD is telling you that just means it’s detecting potential issues, but it’s not a guarantee that you’ll have problems. I’ve actually tried using the same method as you and had no trouble at all.

    • @Channel-wr3zk

      @@VRManCave I did do some more digging. It turns out the card in my VR Tower by SKYTECH Gaming is an Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168. The max speed per the specs states it can only do 433 Mbps. This is why I'm struggling. Even though the card has all the right info in configurations to be 5 ghz and 802.11 ac. I think Virtual Desktop wants me to have closer to 866... Essentially double my current capability.
