    Am I the only one watching this cause their dog has a back problem and they feel bad that they can’t get into their bed? 😂😂

    • @ttaffaro
      @ttaffaro 4 роки тому +4

      no. lol! my dog just had his front leg amputated so i need a ramp for the bed so we can get off the damn mattress on the floor.

      My concern is my aging Danes. I want to prepare before there’s a necessity. I am hoping that getting them used to the ramp. Etc. earlier will make an easier transition to when its actually needed.

      Yeah last week my dog couldn’t jump for three days. It felt like eternity! Is it their back or legs with issues?

    Love the project! I hope this doesn’t come off as criticizing., but I think it would be better for some simple vocal instruction ( like a voice over) than the jazz music. Family Handyman is great and I hope this channel grows no matter what.

      less talking less listening more watching and learning. I'm TIRED of hearing voices when I'm researching. Just want the job done already, so this is a refreshingly enjoyable video. The jazz is a perfect and seldom used touch!

    Really love this project and it was fun to build. My few notes are: I think the tech art is a bit off vs the cut list. My issue is with cut list items D & E. I believe that D should actually be 48” long. And E should have a quantity of 2. D is also called ledger on the cut list but called a strut on step 4 in the step by step instructions. Watching the video really helped in co junction with the plans. Just a warning for anyone planning to complete it.

      its way overbuilt. that ramp is good for a 200lbs dog. he's got a little 15lbs dog. could use much less wood and make it way lighter.

    Well erm. it's nice to know we all have these saws, tools and various equipment. I'm trying to build a cost effective ramp, without having to outlay for all the power tools. Good video for people who have these tools though. 😅😂

  • @keithstasney7835
    @keithstasney7835 4 роки тому +3

    The cutlist on the linked project doesn't match the plans. If you follow the cut list, you'll have to buy an additional 1x2 once you move to the next steps.

    Am I the only one waiting for the guy to give measurements?

    • @LPJMagicmusic
      @LPJMagicmusic 4 роки тому +1

      Well its conditional. You'd have to find the measurements for your situation, bed size, dog, etc. Your pretty much making a base rectangle. If its shorter, the slope will be steep, and the longer, the smoother the climb will be. Then figure out how long the upright supports need to be for your bed. You could easily finish the base, and get the top half finished, then measure for the length of the supports. Test it before screwing, then adjust if you need.

    • @LPJMagicmusic
      @LPJMagicmusic 4 роки тому +2

      But if you cant figure it out, he put the link to the project details and measurements in the description.

  • @TheMatt03102

    Great ramp. Love it, but this will run you close to $100 unless you already have the screws and carpet. Even then good luck not going over 50.

    • @markgonzales1970
      @markgonzales1970 4 роки тому +3

      2x4x8 are less then $3 over here in Texas. Probably not much more wherever you are. Use mdf board for actual ramp part. It's cheap and will support 90% of dogs sleeping on beds. Make the ramp small as you can if you have to. As small as your dog will allow safely. Hardware no more than 25 if you are smart about it. Not sure if carpet is completely necessary as mdf is fiberous but if so, I would not buy carpet new. I would use a dollar store rug or something.

      Is that right well shit I saw a ramp at 99cent store it was 🍒 and 10$!

    • @Rugbystate9champ
      @Rugbystate9champ 4 роки тому +2

      Well it will cost you a couple hundred dollars if you don't already have drills, bits and other saws. Most people looking to build things probably have the basic tools and a couple leftover scraps in their garage. If not, then the leftover scraps from this project will be used on the next one.

    • @Zero464646446
      @Zero464646446 Рік тому

      @@Rugbystate9champ can't argue if you don't have a drill but you can pretty much get all of this cut at Lowes or home Depot. Hammer and a chizzle + sand paper you could get away with for the round cuts, but would obviously take longer.

    • @Zero464646446
      @Zero464646446 Рік тому

      Plus you don't even need to cut those round since those are more esthetics than functional so really is all you need is a drill for this tbh.

    These people are so rich that they have a room for DIY projects, plus the tools and all. How to build a ramp for common unrich people? Imagine to rent a spare room, then to buy the tools the wood and all that, how much the ramp would cost?
