What size of the nails/screws you used for pocket holes? 4. There are items missing in your required list. You may want to add them so that we can be ready when starting the project (wood glue, clamps, all materials for staining etc)
Fun World, so happy to hear from you and that you want to build one of these. My intent when making this video was to show how something like this could be done, I can see that more step by step w/ details may help you guys. Do you think I should make another video? I was using what I had laying around, so for the inset holes I used a bit the matched the 1in dowel rod I had on hand. But you can use whatever just make sure it is larger than the screw head and you should be fine. For the 2x6 question, thinking off the top of my head, 1 piece was used per side, minus the front. If there is a mistake in the cut list, let me know and I will update. For Kreg pocket holes, I use Kreg pocket screws...which were 2.5” in this case I believe. Hope that helps. Will check back tomorrow to see if u have any more questions
Nice project. I've been thinking about making one for my outdoor covered "cabana" type structure. Two questions: 1. How much would it weigh? I plan on using dried douglas fir for the 4x4s, 2x pine for the rest, painted. I also don't plan on leaving it outside all winter. 2. What to use to cover the mattress? I built some swings for that spot over 15 years ago and the fabric is still doing good.
Hi Bruce, I can’t remember weighing everything but it is heavy and sturdy. My swing is under a covered porch so no need to protect it, I am sure you can find some outdoor furniture covers that could fit. Let me know if you need anything else. Best of luck with your build!
Hi Making Makers, Great build and lot of thanks for detailing out all the steps for the beginners like me! I have one question for u! 1/2- in x 6'-in eye bolt comes with a nut , right? James, great question. Yes, I used these: Kreg Paint Grade - Solid Wood Pocket Hole Plug(s). They definitely sell those at Lowes and Home Depot...about $6 for a small box. For other projects when I didn't have pocket hole plugs around, I simply used a 3/8” dowel rod and a Japanese flush cut saw (same saw shown in this video used to cut larger dowels). Hope this was helpful, let me know if you have any other questions James!
@@MakingMakers thank you. I made this swing out of cedar for a friend. it is beautiful. Had to purchase a kreg pocket hole plug cutter to make cedar plugs. they do not make cedar anymore.

I took a look at your material list, approx how much did this cost you? I am assuming price will vary depending on location and resources available. Thanks!
Hi Tammy, a trick I like to do is go to (for example) Lowes.com and start shopping...keep adding the items in my list and click checkout. From there you can can see the total + taxes and you can email it to yourself. Then just remove the items from the cart. Just my two cents.

Hi Miral, good question. I may have answered this question but can’t quite remember the answer. Scroll the comments to see if it’s there. If I were to guess right now, around 120-130#. Hope this helps! If you build it, send me a pic to makingmakersdiy@gmail.com I would love to see it! ~ Mike
What color and type stain is that?
Hi Nicole. Thanks for the question. Provincial I believe. If you need anything else, shoot me an email, I respond faster on there. Makingmakersdiy@gmail.com
Did you fill in the pocket holes?
@@MakingMakers I'm going to use my oscillating multi tool do you cut the dowels. It's 20 20 bro damn the hand saws
Hey after a year is there anything you would do differently about the swing
Hey Jon, thats a good question...nobody has asked me that before. Nope, wouldn't change anything...the twin and crib porch swing beds at my house have held up great. If I think of anything, I will be sure to reply-back.
What size matters is that
Hey Ask About, this is a standard twin mattress. 39x74 or close enough
Where are the step by step instructions? Are there any plans?
Hey Rakesh, so glad you asked. Released a new video that tries to answer some of your questions, check it out ua-cam.com/video/v79uvOtF-wE/v-deo.html while the video is not a full-blown plan, it (combined with the video) should help folks make this project. Once my CAD skills improve enough, I will be sure to put out detailed plans. Hope that answer is helpful. What is something you would like to see made?
I like the video, but it just doesn’t give instruction on how to build it, and what size of boards you need.
Hi Ethan, Thanks for the Like. I made a part 2 that should answer your questions. If not, hit me up. ua-cam.com/video/v79uvOtF-wE/v-deo.html
Hes going to fast dont even know his measurments on nothing he's doing
Floyd, I appreciate the feedback. You can find the measurements in the video I posted today! Check it out, would love your thoughts. ua-cam.com/video/v79uvOtF-wE/v-deo.html
Does the cut list include the slats that you have to rip? Or are these 2 additional 2x4 I will need
The cut list should include the slats. I will take a look at the plans tonight to double check and fix if not.
