I have a 27-2 five inch barrel made in 1975 with the original box and tools. I've never shot it because of its flawless condition. I also have a 28-2 Highway Patrolman that sees the gun range a few times a year. Those N frame .357s are so accurate and such a pleasure to shoot. Very nice example you have! Thanks for the video.
With the model 27 being an N frame and having that long barrel recoil looks to be pretty light even with full power 357’s. I have a S&W 586-8 with a 6” barrel that I bought new in 2017. One of my favorites to shoot. Gotta love the versatility of 357 and 38.
I just bought the same near mint model with 3.5 in barrel in the original box. Personally, I think the mod 27 is the most aesthetically beautiful revolver ever made.
I just managed to score a blued Python built in 1978. Comparing it to my M27 from the same year, the M27 has a better balance, more natural grip, and IMO a better action. Love the python, of course. But people really seem to sleep on the M27.
I just subscribed to your channel; I was looking for a video on a S&W Mod 27 8 3/8" since I have a 1973 so I wanted to see if there was a video posted. and found yours. You have a lot of interesting videos I will checking out. Have a Merry Christmas!
I just put down 1/2 the money down on a model 29-10 classic in 4" I I'm planning on getting a colt python in 3" I thought I was done now I have to get a model 27 in 4"
He's cool I'm a big fan of revolvers I don't own any rugers yet I have 686-6 plus 4" 586-8 4" 629-6 talo edition 6.5" 2020 colt python 4" The model 29-10 classic 4" and a 2020 colt python 3" I on there way Next Christmas I'll get Santa to get me a model 27 classic Then I think I'll be done. I live behind the iron curtain in NJ and work in NYC so carrying is out
The first number is the model number. The second number indicates a change in the features or construction. Model 27 is the first version. 27-1 had a change in something, sights, grip, safety, etc.
I have a model 27-2 6” and a 28-2 6.” I Also have 2 pythons amongst many others. I’d put the 27 up against the python in craftsmanship and quality all day. It’s probably why it’s the granddaddy of them all.
I own four Colt Pythons one of them is from 1959.... I also own a Lettered pre model 27 short barrel. Hands down the Pre model 27 is a tank and when you hold it own your hand and look at the hand built craftsmanship...it smokes the Colt Python ,it's not even close.
Not quite!! It depends on the Series of this Model 27,l had a Model 27=7 which l bought new,and after firing factory ammo it showed serious timing issues,my old 19-2 in 4" reccsesed chambers was way better!!!😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
what can it do that other cant since people call it the best ?? i prefere anaconda and phyton have smw 29 stainless 44 the ruger has the moast solid frame

Thanks for watching. Sounds like you’ve got a great gun there. Enjoy!
Great video, I just inherited a model 27-2 from my uncle who passed away Wednesday. I'd give all my firearms up to have him back.
Sorry to hear about your uncle. Hopefully your memories of him are clearer when you handle that revolver.
@@FlyingKSports Thank you very much, sir.

Yes, I’m lucky enough to have a 27-2 with an 8&3/8” barrel! Fantastic revolver! Excellent condition!
I can feel your enthusiasm, friend. I have a 27 on the way and I can’t wait!!
You will not be disappointed! Great gun.
I have a pre model 27 exactly like yours. My dad got it in the 1950s and now it’s mine. Very nice to shoot.
You’ve got a great gun there.
I’ve got a 27-3 in the same length. Love it! Thanks for the video!
Great revolver you got there!
Smith & Wesson, the original makers of the .357, you have a beautiful specimen. With that barrel length, I'll bet it's spot on.
It’s shoots ver accurately. I have a video coming out soon with some long range shots. The long barrel takes away a lot of the recoil too.
I just bought the same near mint model with 3.5 in barrel in the original box. Personally, I think the mod 27 is the most aesthetically beautiful revolver ever made.
I would love a Model 27 with a 4” barrel. I think that would be perfect.
Looks like a ton of fun! Been eyeing the new ones, which I know aren't as well finished.
This one is as nice as S & W made. I don't really care for the newer ones.
Looks pretty sweet
Great video, love my 27-2, have also the 8 3/8 inch barrel. Greetings from austria
Greetings right back! Thank you for watching and thanks for the compliment.
@@FlyingKSportswhen was your 27-2 manufactured?

I bought one from a friend a couple years ago. The 6 inch model 27 no dash with the wooden box and tools for $550 dollars.
That’s a smoking’ deal! I hope you are still friends!
37 Magnum yep this guy really knows his handguns
Where did you pull 37 magnum from? You’re not too bright.
That lass has class.
I couldn’t agree more!

My next revolver might be the model 29. I'm a big Elmer Keith fan.

What is the difference in number variants? For example, 27-2 v. 27-9. Is that just years of production?
The first number is the model number. The second number indicates a change in the features or construction. Model 27 is the first version. 27-1 had a change in something, sights, grip, safety, etc.
Way nice!
my favorite revolver... more so than the Python... (until my 500 comes in)
Where’s the tank? Im gonna get upset if I don’t see a tank >:(
That seems like an awesome revolver!
No tank! Sorry to disappoint.
best 357 magnum ever made !
lol, you love all right. were you shooting 38special? doesnt look like a lot of recoil
The loads I was shooting were 158 gr .357 magnum loads. That big heavy N-frame with 8 3/8” barrel keeps the recoil manageable.

It’s good to hear I’m not alone. I love those Pythons, but there’s just something special about the Model 27.

@@MARKO2465 nice ! I went to an estate sale with guns of that magnitude, but my pocket aren’t that deep. I would love to see those

They all do the same things. Just the 27 does it with class and style.
Not a colt
No. Even better.
1st time eat shit pistol, if you're asian city sweeper or police detective or treasury agent😃
Try to make sense when you write.
Colts are the best
No all colts all the time
Colts are nice too. Smiths have the ultimate single action trigger.
