  • Why that body language is so important when you attend the interview? Let me tell you certain points certain tips that you should have or that you should remember before attending an interview the first thing that you have to remember is making a great appearance `from the time you enter the office campus say your interview is scheduled in a campus from the time you enter the gate till the time you reach the reception you never know who is going to interview you. `the person who is going to interview you might be right next to you in elevator or he might be in smoke zone or he must be in cafeteria so always remember carry a gentle attitude and make sure you make a great entrance while you attend an interview. The second point is always people say first impression is the best impression. so when you meet a person for the very first time make sure you smile, always wear a smile on you don’t be too rude to others and don’t be too fidget and the third point is people say shake it but please don’t break it this means that when you shake hand with the interviewer always be gentle and please remember he is not your friend he is not your colleague and he is the person who is going to interview you. So always shake hand with interviewer in a very gentle way do not squeeze their hands make sure it is in a gentle way. Say you met the interviewer at the reception he invites you to his room for the interview make sure before you enter into the room you knock and ask permission and the second thing is when you enter into the room before they offer you the seat please do not sit down and when the seat is offered to you say thank you and sit down and now the interviewer offered you the seat always make sure when you sit on the seat you lean back sit on the straight posture do not hunch back and sit like this and do not cross your legs make sure your legs are on the ground I am going to talk about foot posture at little later but the main posture is you sit straight back on the seat and look straight into the interviewer. The next point is look straight into the eyes is people say. But a lot of people take it in a wrong way. Instead of having a direct contact you can always have a face contact say you can look at interviewer’s eyes for 2 min then you just divert into his eyes, his nose , his lips, his spectacles you can make a face contact rather than an eye contact and one of the foremost thing is hand gestures when you are talking to the interviewer do not fold your hands like this or do not keep your hands in your pocket or do not have any kind of pen in your hand always do this when you are talking with interviewer use hand gestures like you say hi, it is an interactive conversation and next thing is plant your feet on the ground so this means that remember I told you in the first point when you sit back on the chair make sure your legs are touching the ground, both your legs are touching the ground this means that there is a scientific reason behind this when your legs are on the ground, both of your legs on the ground, then you can answer any kind of complex questions, so make sure you do not cross your legs say put your legs on each other or make yourself comfortable on the chair please do not be like that make sure you sit straight with both your legs planted on the ground and the next important thing is nod your head when you are talking to the interviewer imagine you are having a conversation with your friend and you are not at all responding which is a bad way make sure let the interviewer know that I am interested in the conversation , yes I am interested in this job so make sure when interviewer is talking to you keep nodding your head and say thank you when it is required and smile when it is required. The last point is before you walk out of the room make sure that you note down the interviewer’s name and what is the next set of procedures and before you leave the room always say thank you.

For the most part this is good advice, but as a professional who has worked as a career counsellor for over 10 years, I disagree with a couple of points, at least for those of us living in North America.
The handshake should be firm, not gentle. Of course it should not be so firm that it hurts anyone, but a full, hearty handshake shows confidence, and a gentle one often can be perceived as "wimpy" or...even insulting.
You also suggest that people should talk with their hands, rather than be still. I do not think this is a suitable way to create rapport. I believe if someone is he type to talk with their hands in general, then that is fine to do in an interview.... but if they are Not that type typically, it will look forced. Better to keep ones hands in their lap, or with a pen in hand and taking notes.

Very good video. The eye contact for two minutes is too much. Recommended eye contact is 10 seconds
