    For some reason I really, really enjoy these random Q&A videos. I guess because I appreciate your perspective (an often unconventional one -- at least relative to the rest of the world) and people ask questions I would have never thought to ask if I had 20 minutes to pick your brain myself. Thanks for being brave and sharing.

    Intermittent fasting(eat within a 4 hour per day window- one main meal- do not eat the other 20- (can vary up to 8 hours on and 16 off)) creates ideal conditions to lose body fat even in those with low physical activity. One interesting benefit from this meal planning strategy has been unveiled with research in the lab on monkeys. It seems the fasting phase(20 hours or so) causes the body to go into a state where it consumes fat but also bad cellular mass. This has caused the monkeys to live human equivalents of over 140 years, with no other changes. Super athletic individuals such as yourself, may be best off with the more reduced fasting duration but still allowing the body to feel hungry for an extended period and thereby go into this phase. But you are spot on, as always, with the vital importance of macro tracking.

    If you could spend time with or train anyone, 1 on 1, in exchange for gaining wisdom or other insights/skills from them like Gary V., who would you pick in any of these professions and what would you hope to learn from them? (male and/or female) : Actor, author, artist, business owner/manager, entrepreneur, financial mentor, musician, personal friend/relative, philanthropist, Poker player, spiritual leader, sports player/coach, etc or pick your top 3. In essence, who would you choose to be your personal mentors and why do they inspire you? (Also, they don't necessarily have to be alive. If you could go back and ask anything, who and why?)

    Could you talk about how should women train relating to weights? To get a sculptured butt and a toned body? How should the training splits be? (For instance: 1 day x week arms and back, 2x week legs and butt , etc). And also if you could talk about weekly weight increments and the time one should take between sets, for expirienced trainers? Thanks. Loved the video Mike!!

    • @StevenMartinGuitar
      @StevenMartinGuitar 6 років тому +2

      Josh Griffin Why pick one? All are important

    • @wilson8979
      @wilson8979 6 років тому +1

      Josh Griffin strength training is number one, your diet and nutrition are the same. Don’t follow Marcos or calories, just eat intuitive and try to eat whenever you feel hungry, not fast food or processed foods...real food. Look at Mikes videos, he eats a well balanced diet. Meaning don’t stress about your diet... just eat real food. Throw in some HIT workouts when you can and or cardio like a walk or jog or bike ride as a lifestyle.

    Wait I watched the video and I didn’t hear you say anything about alcohol? I haven’t been drinking much myself so I’m curious what your thoughts are on it if it’s working for you long term. I don’t see anything wrong with having a drink or two. I just don’t feel my best from drinking and it literally has no up side. It can relax me a little bit but I can do other things to relax that don’t have negative effects.

    vascularity does not equal steroids in all people. unless they're like that at rest. But so many pics the "fitness influencer" (mostly men) community chooses to post on their Instagram pages are after timely eating of carbs/fats, getting a pump, etc.

    For whenever you do your next Q&A: how can you increase your maintenance calories? Right now I'm basically maintaining on 1900 calories/day as a 170-lb man, but that's not enough calories for me to enjoy my life long-term. I'd love to be able to maintain on more like 2400. I was going to try a reverse diet-- 1950/day next week, 2000/day the following week, etc.-- but any advice would be helpful.

    • @StevenMartinGuitar
      @StevenMartinGuitar 6 років тому +1

      Nomathdork increasing daily activity will allow more space for food, and adding more lean mass will likely make you look and feel better but will also increase your BMR too.
      Reverse dieting can help for a while but is a bit of a 'punt' as it depends on how your body responds to mild overeating (such as increasing NEAT). If you don't already eat a high protein diet then switching to one will increase TEF (thermic effect of food) which can also allow for more calories in the long term.
      Maybe something in there that can help you.

    L-glutamine effectively suspends the desire to drink alcohol for 4 to 5 hours. Just 2 to 10, 500 mg tablets. The higher amounts when going to a party with alcohol, as an example, where there is stronger temptation. L-glutamine is also very good for you even in much higher doses. You cannot get L-glutamine from food as the amino is destroyed through exposure to heat and cooking. Many, even with severe alcoholism, have freed themselves from this destructive habbit. L-glutamine helps improve health and brain function broadly and helps immensely with such things as body building. L-glutamine must be supplemented daily for optimal health. One-a-day type vitamins do no have the full array of vitamins and minerals. Also, learn more about vitamins and minerals which form the basis of human health. One needs 400mg of magnesium citrate at minimum a day to prevent and terminate over 3,500 health conditions, as one example.

    I admire your attitude of doing what you love even if it might not be great money-wise. But! If you also want to have a family someday, wouldn't you want substantially more than 3k savings a year? I know most families now have multiple income sources, but don't you still feel some obligation as the man to be able to support your family financially?
