I'm a simple man - I see a Vacanti video posted and I click immediately. Side note - I would love to see a "What I'm Reading..." segment once a month!

    Great job Mark!!! 👏👏👏
It’s totally ok to skip a workout if today is not the day and you’re preventing injury. People can use anything as an excuse, but the truth is we know if we’re just being lazy or actually listening to our bodies. I think this is a good point to make. Where some are looking for any excuse to quit, others are obsessed on the other end and have a hard time taking a day off.

Now I’m certain you have a gf after seeing your movie choices as of late! 😂😂😂 I love the candid, “I got about 15 pages into this book and.....I’m too dumb.” Guaranteed you’re not too dumb though. 😉

Your jump cuts reminded me of a Vlog brothers video. Lol Keep it up! Also I used to do a ketogenic diet But I stopped after reading about it’s affect on thyroid hormone and testosterone which seem to jive with my own experience. I would like to know what you think about the Keto diet affects on hormones if you decide to Discuss it.

Thanks for the "Be like Mike" video! You continue to do the thinking and I will attempt to follow (doing poorly at the moment 😉). And I appreciate that you don't shortcut things - sell out/sell supplements/whatever you said in the 3-second clip 😄 Continue doing things that make you happy! I do! And about to work on becoming happier 😎

Also I think you'll like the Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. Based on your comment about a slight amount of calories over a lifetime, is not a slight amount of calories. When speaking about the thermic effect of water.

Good to see you on UA-cam Mike ! Always good advises especially on preventing injuries.. sometimes people think it's badass to push through a potential tear... that's just stupidity ! Anyway can't wait to hear the other points !

    Welcome back. First, congrats Mark.
RE: protein feedings. To avoid the possible long-term negative consequences of constant protein feedings, one could implement a half or single day fast once a week for its hormetic benefits. It gives digestion a break, and the autophagy cleans out old proteins and cells. I wouldn't bother with this while dieting because in a caloric deficit there is not a whole lot of stress on the digestive process. But I think it becomes increasingly important the more one has spent in a caloric surplus.

Hey Mike, nice to see u again!
Did anyone else also have the issue, that by the time Mike talks about his different points the line of audio and video gets just a little bit off? Like its only that little tha my brain thinks his word dont fit to his mouth movements. And if he starts talking about the next point after a cut, both audio and video are prefectly lined up again.

Great upload Mike! Congratulations to Mark. The advice on food intake was very helpful, especially about avoiding sugar in those of us who have more fat on us. Like the Tolstoy reading. Try Brothers Karamazov by Dostoyevsky. Great book.

I drink close to 2 gallons of water a day and it's dramatically got rid of my brain fog along with intermittent fasting. I work out at 5am-6:30 fasted and I eat from 11-8pm. I also eat no dairy, soy, gmo, corn, wheat. My diet consists of all grass fed meats, veggies, nuts and seeds such as Pistachios, almonds, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, avacodos, walnuts, sunflower seeds, rice protein powder, and I only drink almond and cocnut milk, along with cooking I only use grass fed butter, olive oil and cocnut fat. That's been my diet for about a year and its changed my life. Along with drinking 9.5 ph Kangen water for 2+ years.

Mike, you drink 4.4 Litres of water a day? Really? I think (respectfully) you should track that. Or better yet do a vid on it. Also... a count on the amount of time you spend in the bathroom.
Cause that my dude... is a lot.

Also a long-winded thought... Since you're bulking and I know you've mentioned something like needing 4,000+ calories to consistently gain weight when doing so, have you considered taking the stairs less, etc., to purposely reduce NEAT to help you not need to eat so much? I forget which Revive Stronger guest it was, but he talked about people with "fast metabolisms" really just being sort of "NEAT over-responders"... where NEAT ramps up dramatically in proportion to calorie intake. And so you might want to strategically reduce non-lifting activity to keep the calorie expenditure side of the equation in check, to maintain an optimal surplus for building muscle. I know much of NEAT is subconscious, but perhaps there are some unconventional habits you could employ to make sure your surplus stays a surplus.

Do you think drinking too much water could result in adverse effects? I, for example, drink about 5 litres of water every day. When I drink only 3 litres, which for normal people is a lot, I feel extremely thirsty. I feel like I'm getting more and more reliant on drinking that much water. Also I'm only 169 cm (5'7 I think) and 67 kg (147 lbs) so I shouldn't need this much water.

Is my sedentary lifestyle drastically effecting my fat loss? I go to the gym 3-4 times a week but I usually sit in a chair for 10+ hours a day. 209lbs 5'9" not seeing much progress after a few months.

    • @StevenMartinGuitar
      @StevenMartinGuitar 6 років тому +2

I'll pitch in and offer some advice if I may... Being in a calorie deficit matters most for fat loss. 3-4 times a week in the gym is good but there are lots of things you can do to increase your activity and be less sedentary such as, get a standing desk, go for a walk at lunch or several times a day, set timers to get up and move, always take the stairs, park further from your destination and walk, do more housework/always offer to help at other people's houses, schedule fun active things in your downtime.
