C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity was what really helped me understand christianity. It really breaks down what it is and what it isn't. Highly recommended

I’ve had a very similar journey with Christianity. My mind is very practical and no nonsense. I felt very similarly about Christians too. A couple of years ago I decided to follow a year plan of reading the Bible and it really has impacted my life greatly. Even if you don’t choose to believe in Christianity, one can argue that it’s a wonderful guide to living life and treating others. It’s downright crazy to me that I watched this video today because I have been trying to get back into connecting again. What I found before and now (especially with this video) is that once I decide to open up to it, all sorts of things come my way that seem more than coincidental. I know that will sound hogwash to people but it’s true for me and I feel it. Science isn’t always the end all be all. I’d love it if you kept us posted and let us follow along on your journey. I think many of us are there too.

I’m not a 22 year old male that’s questioning my curiosity about religion...and I still received a ton of value from this post :) so good to see you back on UA-cam ♥️♥️♥️ Glad your social media break led you to a positive habit that’s had a profound impact on your life. Also, appreciate your candor about your previous perspective about religion and how a social media break doesn’t always mean super productivity (hello online chess!) At the end of the day, we are all human. Thanks for always keeping it real, Mike!!!

  • @MoreheadD
    @MoreheadD 5 років тому

Just thought about you the other day as I was reloading apps on my phone. Appreciate the update!
In the big picture, our paths aren't entirely something that we can control. We can, but try too hard and we can be too hard on ourselves, hard in our relationship to our environment. There's an unpredictability and whimsy to life. Glad you're following your impulses and discovering along the way. In terms of social media or no, a lot of content or a little, just do what works for you. A couple lines:
    From Ecclesiastes:
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity..."
From Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go":
"When something's not right, it's wrong."
I'm a writer, card player, poet, interested in how our bodies function, but also spent much of my adult life traveling the world studying Christian theology. That something in there resonates with you doesn't make you dumb, an asshole, or pretentious (though Christianity can be great cover for all three). At the end of the day, we all live stories that preexist our choices. Feel free to hmu on IG: dan.morehead, if you ever want to shoot the shit. Glad to have you back for as long (and as much) as you are.

Hey Mike! Happy to hear about your last 4 months and the things you're thinking about.
I've gone on quite the ride with religion over the past year and a bit (Christianity specifically), one of the things that really bridged some gaps I had was listening to Alan Watts's interpretation of the gospel.
I know you won't want to discuss these topics on UA-cam, but know that you would have a solid little base of listeners if you wanted to discuss these types of things on a different platform.
Back with G-Vee! Stoked that you're back Mke

    1. YAY you're back!
    2. I saw your video on why fitness actually matters late 2016 and had been discussing with my mother why she needs to take care of her health, you said it perfectly and I shared your video with her. I'm not all that into fitness but subscribed to you back then, because your real, honest and just say it like it is, I enjoy your videos. I had questioned your beliefs long ago and thought to myself, man if he knew .. the influence he'd have! ... here you are reading scripture! If you pray to know if it's TRUE, you will get an answer! Happy to have you back friend!

What’s up Mike! Man I’m totally with you on social media. I LOVE training my clients but the energy to produce content for social media is just not there and hasn’t been for a year. It’s exhausting to even think about haha. On the topic of religion, I’m where the old Mike was. I’m agnostic. I think there’s something but I know I’m not smart enough to comprehend what started it all. I do share a lot of the same concerns as you had with organized religion. The biggest issue I have with any religion is the belief that if you aren’t part of said religion you’re going to hell. All that being said, there are some wonderful things to be learned in the Bible. Great to hear from you my brother!

So happy for you man! Praying for you also! Jesus loves you man.
I just read this today and I didn’t know why...
“For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”

So happy when I saw that notification mail!! :) Glad seeing you in a good place, executing and striving in and from the year of the robot. Here is actually that one 22 year old dude that always associates believe and religion with weakness. Though my younger brother startet reading the bible (after I got him into JBP, after I got into him from you) and we just giftet our father the Koran to his birthday, because he said he always has premade stereotypes about this religion without never read the actual word. So I guess its my time to dig into the bible. Thanks a lot Mike. When I was seeing that notification this morning I was mentioning to my gf that the main "Ehrenmann" (a german saying for "Honorman/Man of Honor") has uploaded. I appreciate your real, honest and straight talk and content a lot. Love seeing you being you and giving this to your community without anything fake. Also seeing all the great, thoughtful and appreciating comments makes me happy for you and this community. Keep it up Ehrenmann!! Love.

Welcome back! Listening to your journey with Christianity and God was good and very typical. Not to undermine your experience!!!! I have found most “those Christian’s”that you referred to did not read the Bible actively. They were the Church attenders that went because that was what they were “suppose to do”. The Bible, if actively, studied changes a person. So glad God is working through you. I say this because I two am actively reading the Bible and previously was just an active Christian that did not. Being a Christian is different to me now. Wishing you all the best.

Glad to see you're back bro. Also, believing in God doesn't mean that you're weak, quite the opposite. You kneel, close your eyes /that's what I do/ ask the most powerful God to grant you the strength to overcome your challenges (personal and others), and then, with faith, you feel empowered to take on the world. But not in a sense "I'm a big man, i'll show you how I'm a big man", but in a sense "I feel God's blessings with me, and I will win over these challenges just how Jesus won over death". So, that makes you quite powerful if you ask me!

Mike! So surprised to hear you talk about the Bible. Religion, specifically, Christianity is definitely not the in thing to be interested in. Love that you shared that reading it was so different than you expected. I think Many people think as you did that religion is for the weak. I for one would love to hear you talk in the future more about the impact it has had on you. My fav verse. I repeat it over & over in my head: 2 Tim 1:7 “God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Mike, I’m so stoked you’re back, I get how easy it is to slip into bitterness with the “religious machine,” but truly the story that the Word tells is the only one that makes sense to me, coming from someone that has an inordinate amount of time to themselves for introspection and cross analysis 😂 I hope you keep grinding through it!

Thank you for your honest videos they are great to watch! And for talking so frankly about your journey with God. You will inspire people,it's hard to find good role models esp for young men.
