    I have one of these ordered and was wondering do you fill the transmission up to the top of the hotline once fully warmed up? The valve I'm buying says the transmission oil will run 40 degrees F cooler so the fluid won't expand as much as it did before.

    Do you know which way the oil flows to the cooler? The shift bypass valve claims to have a high pressure safety bypass. Seems to me though that it would only bypass back pressure going in the wrong direction.

      hi, if you check out and follow the channels in the case and port through the valve body you will see that they deliberately made it more complicated than it should be. we also use a solid "lollipop" style bypass valve that works well and they are cheaper than the superior brand bypass valve. cheers

    Hi, just a quick question, I just had that thermal bypass valve fitted (superior solutions brand which is the same one you had in the video) , only problem is transmission temperatures never changed, temperature stayed at 94-96 Celsius which was the same temperature I was getting with the factory one. I was led to believe that just by fitting the thermal bypass valve temperatures would drop and be maintained between 70 and 90 Celsius. Not to mention this is just light driving around town not towing or anything and coolish 25 degree day. I dont have a trans cooler. Does this seem right ?

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  Рік тому +1

      hi, the thermal bypass valve just allows constant flow ( not to start opening when reaches over 70C ) you will need a proper trans cooler not the heat exchanger ( they are designed to warm up your trans fluid quicker in sub zero temps so not to scrub out frozen seals ) these trans normally run hot, so any cooling improvement will help make your trans last longer. cheers

    Hey mate, thanks for the info in the vid appreciate it. Q - What stops you from just leaving the hole open? Do you need that bypass valve in place for something to work?
    Also have you installed /replaced the standard torque converter with a billet converter? Why or why not? thanks.

    Where can I get the 4 new gaskets and the bridge?
    Also the “reusable gasket always leaks so I’ve deleted it and just use Right Stuff on both trans and pan. Never leaks, another really nice idea is to weld a bung onto the pan for easy removal of the fluid without taking a bath.

    This is a great idea until you need to drain and replace the fluid. Ford should have designed a method to open the bypass valve for fluid exchange/replacement.

    Hi I have explorer xlt, the transmission boils the oil and throws it from the drain pipe, the radiator threw it again, it threw it again, it does not make a problem on the straight road It does not make a problem on the slopes and throws the oil out where else the problem can be thanks

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  3 роки тому +1

      hi, hard to say without having a look. usually on these if you have overfilled the fluid will hit the spinning components when the fluid warms and expands, this will aerate the fluid and then come out a weak seal point or breather. an internal pressure leak can aerate the fluid as well and cause same issue. check the basics and try adding a trans oil cooler and completely bypass the heat exchanger. ( check out our vid. cheers

    Hello I have a 6r80 in a f150 with a factory installed heat oil to air heat exchanger (no coolant involved) the cooler lines at the front of the truck seem to be warm before the thermal by pass valve even opens at 70 degrees Celsius.
    My question is do the trans oil cooling lines constantly have a flow of oil from the pan through the cooling lines even when the thermal bypass valve hasn’t reached the 70*C . Or are the lines only supposed have warm oil going through once the thermal valve reaches 70 degrees Celsius.
    Could it be that my valve is stuck open ? Allowing constant oil flow all the time?

      @@YepThatsIt ok thanks , I’m assuming if the lines at the front of the truck are warm when the transmission coolant temp is at 40 degrees Celsius that there is flow in the lines before the thermal valve is supposed to be open either that or my valve is just stuck open

      if you have the external mount block (by the brake booster) you can use Superior Part # STL017 / STL020 if its the internal one (like in the video) you need the STL009. many distributors world wide stock our products.

      hi, i am not completely sure as we have never fitted trans with either thermal valve or a thermal bypass valve. as far as i know having a full open flow without some restriction in cooling line circuit can affect the lubrication pressures. i recall sonnax.com had an article for a wk pressure test port that is located above the cooling line ports on left side trans that describes the flow related issues. check it out if i can`t find it. cheers
