Thanks for hanging on to the bike and bringing up all these issues which can be fixed on the next iteration mid cycle refresh. I am targeting late 2027 as the update time frame for my 1250GSA. You are doing the Lord's work!
I bought a new Vstrom 1050 in 2023, taking a lot of heat from several BMW GS riding friends. 27,000 miles later, not one single thing has gone wrong with the Suzuki. I have ridden it coast to coast across the U.S. twice in the last year. The icing on the cake is, I paid about half for the Vstrom than what a GS cost. The savings paid for both of those cross country trips, including all lodging, food, fuel, tires, maintenance etc. If you buy a bike that doesn’t break in the first place, you don’t need a courtesy bike.
You did the right thing, japanese bikes are still unmatched when it comes to reliability. I’ve tested over 10 brands, but owned only Hondas, for a reason 😂
That's shocking. Apart from the styling on the GS1300 and the Adventure model, along with all these issues posted on social media, I'm done with BMW. Going back to Honda. Never had any issues with Hondas. I hope BMW do fix all these issues u have been having. I'm ama how tolerant you have been. Good luck.
I also bought a Suzuki 1050 in 2020 and like the other commentator I have done 20k miles with absolutely NO issues. Just can’t get my head around this brand loyalty which seems to bring anguish to many!
@@brogiesthemotorcyclist5408 I have that same kind of brand loyalty to Suzuki. I have owned 37 of them so far. About half of them were race bikes. Not one has ever broken anything. They always handle great, they always have great performance, they always have the best shifting in the industry, and they are always as reliable as an anvil.
I do know what you mean, I have heard that had this been a KTM they would have wriggled out of every warranty claim. But for me the GS rides like no other bike. Having said that I’ve not tested the latest crop of other brands.
@@TheStammeringBiker No good if its not working, even Ducatis aren't this bad, if you need a reliable bike buy Jap/Honda, shocking BMW CS, but good video and honest
Have you ever owned one? My GS is 9 years old and i have never had any issue. I don‘t know about the 1300, but your comment is too generalizing in my opinion. The chance to see videos about problems of a first year model are much bigger, if you look at the best selling bike of it‘s class. And above that … all my buddies, who own a GS, would not buy one of the first year of a model. We have always left that to the people, that want to be the first ones and there seems to be a endless supply of them. What i like about BMW? That they don‘t let their customers hang out dry, like KTM. After the last service i got a letter, that the kardan of my GS model has to be changed every 60k kilometers from now on … first i though: wtf … but then i saw … they will do that free of charge for the whole life of the bike … which is 9 years old. I like that.
My R1250GS has done 54,750 miles. Had a few issues but are sorted by BMW dealers without question. For peace of mind I am on my second year of extended warranty (although, sadly, it doesn’t cover suspension after 35,000 miles). For me the GS ticks every box.
I've been considering the new GS but it doesn't sound like BWW are looking after you. Hope you're back on the road soon. Don't worry about the presentation, I think people prefer to see the real person behind the UA-cam channel.
I am testing the new adventure this week however if this is the way BMW treat their customers then I think I will wait till they have sorted these new bikes out a little more.
You're doing really well. I'd never have guessed you have an issue. And I understand how you feel. I had a stroke in 2016 and have been, well, occasionally missing gears when speaking. The people around me mostly don't notice, but I do. You're doing great. Keep going. And I subbed, of course. 😊
I bought a 1300GS late late last year and had the red screen issue, as well as many others, inc an engine replacement, the starter relay issue and problems with the drive shaft and hub, my dealer was very very helpful, always gave me a courtesy bike without question, after 7 months of breakdowns they even had the bike back and refunded me, i cant speak highly enough of the dealership, the bike was bloody awful though, I was glad to see the back it. Ive bought another brand of bike now and had no issues so far,
Ive heard so many problems about electrical issues on modern bikes. I ride an 1150 gs, my second, the first did 140 000 miles with no problems. The only software issue i have is the seat :-).
Thank you for providing / uploading your very honest review. I am however successfully put of buying a GS. You have potentially saved me (and possibly many others) a world of pain! 🙏
These beemers cost a serious amount of money nowadays. I’ve had 3 GSs, older and less techy 1100/1150s and they were very reliable and durable, tough as nails and did some serious off-road in Australia. Bikes are far more exposed to the elements and it doesn’t take much to upset the electrics…talk to any auto electrician and he’ll tell you it’s very difficult to track down problems with relatively simple tech, but solid state problems are almost impossible (hence replacement of your entire screen). It’s a race to the bottom fitting tech like this, once one manufacturer did it the others are compelled to follow suit due to competitive pressure, personally I don’t like it. I had a fabulous KTM 1290SA, first series, no LCD screen controller, and it was brilliant…never had a mechanical or electrical problem, never had any problems, bought it in Germany, did most of EU, Russia, Ukraine, and shipped it to Australia and did a few “laps” round Australia then sold it. Bullet proof and amazingly capable. I won’t buy the current series despite the brilliant LC8 engine because I don’t trust the electrics and I don’t want to be stranded in the outback where I do some pretty serious off-road travel. Unfortunately I’ve been “forced” to go backwards to a 2012 990 Adventure which has the brilliant engine and suspension, and a similar vintage 690 enduro r because I don’t trust the modern electrics and I can fix any mechanical problem. For me it’s a pity they don’t offer a base model in the series that has more analogue gauges and switchgear for modes etc. My old 1290SA had ABS/TC/Modes etc but all operated by switchgear and not dependent on touchscreens, for me that’s perfect. Now I feel I’ve been pushed towards being a Luddite and riding bikes several generations behind, which I don’t really want to but I just can’t get what I want, which is the up to date engine and suspension without the digital controllers…just give me decent switchgear :))
Although I really dislike BMWs, I have to be fair here. There is a reason why people say, never buy a first generation of anything. It is always better to wait until they sort out all the issues which pop-up in the first few years. That is why I bought my Aprilia RS660 just now, although I wanted one ever since they came out.
never nice to have these issues. I would insist on a replacement bike. It sounds like you got a bad one. first the electrical "fire" now this. I wouldnt be surprised if they are both related. All the best and hope you get sorted out soon.
Whenever you buy a premium product and it fails you should be getting a courtesy bike. It's an expensive even luxury purchase and the quality of service when problems occur needs to reflect that. BMW haven't treated you the right way and this resonates with potential buyers. Put me right off and I've been researching these for a few days and have a test ride organised this coming Wednesday on the new Adventure. Goodluck and I hope things get better for you soon.
When you fit the Denali Sound Bomb I recommend pointing the ‘trumpet’ downwards. I didn’t and water got in and it ended up sounding like a mouse with a sore throat.
I had 25 BMW motorcycles over 35 or so years starting with a lightly used R60/2 and then a mix of new and very mint and original used /5, /6, R, RS, G/S, GS/PD, K75RS, etc etc, sometimes 3 bikes at once for a while. It was great and I was/am a gearhead rider. After a very, charitably said, uninspiring, expensive and short ownership of a 1250 GSA, that capped off the last decade of my own declining satisfaction with their machinery, now I don’t even look at new BMW models. That was 11 years ago and to me it’s still a bit of a sad thing to have turned in my roundel. But there are many wonderful options. Good news there, but hard to fathom what has transpired at the motorradwerk. I am familiar with the fact that, even in the /2 to /5 transition era around 1970, there was angst about BMW not being modern enough to be competitive etc. Jokes about the car designers getting drunk on the last Friday of the month and cranking out the bikes, all that sort of thing. In fact, I was around then. Different than now. The current product line doesn’t really work well in this challenging market, there is not a clear unifying product concept, the product range is too wide for their sales and production levels and the models are all over the place in design and, seemingly, in quality. All over the place but never in first place, in my opinion etc etc. Example: The Chinese made BMW branded engines may or may not be great, no idea or opinion, but the exact engine can be had on a Chinese-made Voge bike at about 1/2- 1/3 the price. And even a KLR650 is arguably a better tractor anyway, with a huge support aftermarket, and costs half of even the Voge price. But there are many, many solid wonderful bikes, most Japanese, even if not “super cheap”. Many. It’s just sad that BMW seems a bit lost. I have a 10 year old bought new and still wonderful if a bit quirky Moto Guzzi 1400 road bike now. Don’t feel any pull for much else wrt that kind of bike. Am maybe considering small(er) bore options. No BMWs likely. Anyway, I ramble, good luck, please continue to do what you want to do.
had that happening to me 3 days ago. I started up to go get the 1000 km service (yes, it is only 2 weeks old) and got the red revmeter. Switched it off, restarted, all ok... I did mention this at the dealer. When I went and pick it up they said it was my fault because of the EZcan for the additional lights... big discussion.
Thing I found owning BMW, some dealers are better than others and down to who you speak to. There is one BMW dealer I avoid at all costs even though apparently there one of the best in the south, primarily how they treated me. But BMW north Oxford and Carlisle wear I know live have been fantastic not that I have had much issues with my Transcontinental bar software updates and one recall. But I permit I haven’t done many tours on her as I did on the last bike not the bikes fault or anything to do with it more life and running my own business issues. BMW have always offered and provided a courtesy bike even on a 1-2hr service. But probably down to how good is the dealership on customer care. I had it once wear north Oxford had my previous bike in for several days and without any authorisation gave me a courtesy bike over the entire repair period irrespective on how long it takes them to do it, but that was on the senior manger taking the shot on it. Down to customer care and ethics of the dealership. And I’m only a casual biker and yet they seem to jump through hoops. But there are the odd BMW dealer that seem to just jump to the tune of BMW head office and not customer focused. But in general BMW still better than most brands due in most cases the level of support seems better. But like everything there are better dealers and garages than others.
You are a very easygoing guy, I have never been left without a courtesy bike, but it is my sole transport personally I think your treatment is totally unacceptable.
Hi, I’m in the UK, north west area I’ve done 13000 miles and the red screen has happened to me 3 times. On each occasion turning on and off sorted the tft. I’ve mentioned it to my Manchester dealer and on 12000 mile service it was looked at but no fault found. There is another person on a forum who has also had the issue. My bike was delivered on 19th December 2023 and collected in Preston as they were the dealership who could get me the bike I wanted. I’ve had two relay changes/updates and a software update. I’ve also changed the battery to an AGM one from the factory delivered lithium. I think a lot of original issues were lithium battery related. If you need to contact me for another instance of the fault then feel free. Jonathan
Thanks Jonathan! I think the other person I’ve seen with this issue was Mark Hooton but interesting to know if it’s affected others. For me turning the bike off/on resolved it a couple of times but sadly beyond that it needed the battery disconnecting for a short while. Will see what happens when I get a further update but I might well be in touch mate 😎
I also have the GS 1300 , so far no problems ,Hope you get your bike back soon , cant believe they have not given you a replacement bike though not good specially what we pay for the 1300, hearing to many story's now on bad after sales service , paying £22k for a bike the aftercare service should be second to none.
Totally agree! Generally my experience of BMW warranty has been exceptional, just kinda weird a courtesy bike wasn’t even an option given it always has been in the past.
My personal story on this topic....one BMW(R1200S )electrical issue taken away on a trailer to the dealer. Six Hondas none of which ever missed a beat.
Very interesting, thanks. I’m Really questioning the value of BMW Motorrad warranty as I bought a new GS in August last year and over a year later I’m still waiting for the spare key under warranty and since April I’ve been waiting for a new head unit as it won’t power the NAV. What is the point of a three-year warranty when you have to spend half that time waiting for parts. I was thinking of upgrading to the 1300 but I’ve lost a bit of confidence in Bmw and these issues don’t help as I’d be stuffed without a courtesy bike. Thanks again for the video
@@nicholascrocker4329in the uk we get two keys. One main key but also a small spare/emergency key. I got the main key and separately I got a letter from BMW saying I needed to put a warranty claim in for the spare/emergency key. It’s this that I’ve been waiting over a year for. Perhaps it’s different in other countries. Cheers
Every time (care occasions) I have had an issue with a BMW (owned 6 so far) they have stepped up and solved it. Had a KTM 1290 lots of issues..........
I bought motorcycle back in 2013 , haven't been at dealership since, not for 1000km free checking..doing services when I feel like ,still goes hard without issues...good luck
Knock on wood, I’ve only had two recalls-one while it was in winter storage at BMW and another just a month ago. I brought it to the dealer, and they had it fixed the same day. I’m incredibly happy with the 1300 GS; in my opinion, it’s the best motorcycle I’ve ever owned and ridden. 👌
Brand new model (1300 GS), best selling adventure bike, perception of it being a problem bike is bound to be exaggerated. This is my 7th BMW in 35 years, and last one was the only one I’ve had problems with.service centre were helpful, BMW customer service definitely weren’t; main difficulty was the service centre couldn’t fix it! Had to strip engine down completely , which they didn’t want to do. Spare part not available from BMW. Kindest conclusion is BMW should beta test more before releasing new models, and build up their spares inventory. Dunno if other marques are better; my son’s had problems with his Triumph; I went to test ride a brand new Ducati Multistrada- it wouldn’t start! Though to be fair I’ve had 2 problem free Dukes.
Minor electrical niggles with my December 23 GS 1300. Big problem was transmission fault- got locked in neutral 4 times- only remedied by switching bike off and waiting a few minutes and rebooting. Potentially dangerous obviously. Dealer had it for more than a month, BMW “customer support “ were useless. No reply to letters/ emails to BM W. after much shouting and screaming, threats of litigation etc. Dealer put me into a sweet deal for a new 2024 1300,which has been brilliant. No courtesy bike. I am a lot less patient than Mr Stammerer. Guy that recovered bike originally did say with BMW he who shouts loudest etc- he was right. £22,000 for a bike , this is not how it should be.
@@ianrichards4907 Been there and nearly died of hypothermia on shap on the m6 in winter , i had to hide in the mens loos until my tears had cleared with the pain in my feet and hands ..so cold i couldnt take my helmet off or get my flies unzipped ..the worse was knowing i had to get on to continue , 1000 quid later ahhhhh , bring it on , now im good to about -8, colder than that and tyres get slippy .
I Always say that its not really the problems that are too much of an issue, its more about how good the dealers and back up is when you do have an issue, and i have to say my local Motorrad dealer is right up there at the top of the tree, top notch... which is more than i can say for a lot of other brands. Just look at the warranty, inc the breakdown part of it and compare it to every other manufacturer, no other comes close.
I’m on my second BMW ( also have a Z4 car too incidentally ) and having a very low speed ‘ sorry mate I didn’t see you’ incident resulting in a broken indicator and marked fairing on R1200RS I put the bike into Halliwell jones Chester back in August , will take 2 or 3 weeks they said …. It’s now 15th October and still no sign of the bike 😂😂😂😂 needless to say il be selling the bike and changing manufacturer to ( as yet undecided ) a dealer that actually supports its customers
Great update and I hope they sort it properly for you buddy, I’ve never trusted BMW when I’ve had problems it’s very poor service and it’s not just the bikes going wrong cars as well I would never buy another BMW As I have no confidence in the product, but I do hope you’re sorted mate soon,☺️🙏👌🏍☀️
As a all year all weather biker myself, a kit review of what you use would be good. I've a K1600 and i'm not impressed with my local dealer for support. As soon as mine was out of warranty i've done all my own servicing. That way i know the work has been done correctly!! Just coming up on 43k and its runnng beautifully. Just subscribed 🙂
Hope it's sorted soon. So frustrating for you. My 2024 1250gsa is going in tomorrow for the software update to cure the constant sos failure and to have the left hand switch gear looked at, as it has intermittant failures, where nothing on it works.
I have that sos issue too on my 2023 1250 Ultimate edition. Given up trying to get it fixed and i’m just living with the constant message. Thinking of moving back to triumph for the service rather than the bikes.
My sympathy is with you. When you look at the BMW history they have had problems with new models all the way back to the R69S. And probably also before that but that is before my time. I wish you strength and a trouble free GS. And yes, I'm certainly interested in a kit review. Like you I ride all year except for snow and icy conditions, which do not happen often in my country (The Netherlands). So I'm very interested what other all year round bikers use. Thank you.
@@TheStammeringBiker Im holding mine crossed for you! I only had a problem because I left the GS outside a hotel in the pouring rain all night and water ingress got in there. Once fully dried out a couple of days later, all rides in the dry have been fine, but my dealer wanted to replace it as a comforter. Plus the kill switch wasn't working while it had moisture inside it (had to use the main power button). But when I got it done, they said it's now going to be an official recall. He was smart, preempt it and order several in advance. Here's my backstory/problems: ua-cam.com/video/_1IIBC3OfFk/v-deo.htmlsi=UK8PnuLFi5Bzxr-_
I find the quality of service is so dealership dependant. Battersea tried to badly scam me - Warwick one ignore you - Wollaston go above and beyond, really look after you. I found BMW UK and Assist great to deal with on the day, but a nightmare to deal with after - had to chase to get money for over 4 months…
Having owned a R1200 and a R1250GSb and do 6k per annum. I have been fortunate and haven’t had any major issues, other than a couple of recalls and software updates. The standard of service delivered by North Oxford has consistently been excellent. The biggest issue for me is your dealer not providing a courtesy bike and this is likely to be because they either don’t have enough demonstrators or present demand is too great.
At this point. I think going through the route of complete bike replacement or full refund is the way. A new bike with that many issues will give you more issues in the future. Good luck
Most manufacturers have no mention of a courtesy bike in any of their warranty literature. This also applies to car manufacturers. That being said, it's likely the dealer's call if they can spare one of their own bikes, and maybe get some reimbursement from BMW. Can't really comment on why this time was different, other than maybe they anticipated that your bike would be out of service for several weeks, which it was, and there's no guarantee BMW would provide any compensation...? I shudder at the degree of electronics on new bikes. Unlike mechanical systems, electronics can be very expensive, as they're typically integrated and controlled by a central computer; they're somewhat fragile in some situations; they're almost impossible for a typical DIY repair; and many of their features are rarely, if ever, used by their owners. They make good marketing tools, but are expensive over-kill IMHO. I have owned 2 BMW R1150-RS bikes and put 170,000-km on them. Other than EFI and ABS, there's minimal electronics, and I've had zero mechanical or electrical problems. I maintain them myself and they look and run like the first day they rolled out of the dealer. I think BMW makes excellent bikes, but like all manufacturers they outsource their electronics, and are susceptible to quality variance, like every other manufacturer who out-sources. The R1300-GS is a totally revised machine, from the engine up, so hopefully these issues will go away by the time the second year of production arrives.
Sorry to hear of all your issues hope it’s fixed soon, as a blood biker the last thing you need is issues like this. Do you wish you had stuck with the 1250?
I would be bouncing up and down with BMW , I’ve had one Gilera at least least 10 Suzukis ( two Hondas 😢 ) , 1 Triumph Bonneville , 1 Kawasaki , never had issues like this , that’s since 1984 till now ,
"Hello indeed, I am from Belgium. I am very happy with my R1300, but I have the same problem I had before. But yes, it got back to normal by itself. I have already experienced four times while riding that the mechanic wants to stall, but he then picks it up again. And I find it annoying that you cannot find saddle lowering parts. Also, my rear passengers' legs get wet when it rains, which leads to hypothermia. And I can't order those side bags anywhere; so much money, yet so many smaller problems. As a result, your day gets ruined. But otherwise, yes, I really enjoy riding it."
I live in the south west of France and It seems I’ve got the same problem as you. Last Monday had the same screen as you (rev counter all red) I had just done 400 km and had had the bike for 3 days !at the moment the bike is back with the dealership who after insisting came to pick the bike up. Telling me tonight it’s a problem with the lithium battery which had short circuited. ? Waiting to see what else they say after reboot and software update. Be good if we could keep in touch since it appears the problem is the same.
Hey thanks for the message, sorry to hear of your issues! My Linktree is on my main channel page with details of how to contact me, would definitely be good to stay in touch about it!
I bought the Bumot soft panniers because of your vlog thanx for that ,i still own my 1250 gs adventure i will wait a few years till i "upgrade" if i am still hear.
My wife's 2019 Honda with 25,480 miles on the clock. Nothing to report. My 2021 Yamaha with 8,320 miles on the clock. Nothing to report. My mate's 2022 BMW with 4,500 miles on the clock. Forget it, I ain't writing all that lot out lol.
Design nightmare followed by so many Reliability issues. They should provide you with a equal Loaner. If not fixed in a reasonable timeframe, they should buy it back and refund your money 100%.
I had exactly this issue, my dealer fixed it by reflashing all the modules. It never returned after that. Dropped it at the dealer in the morning and it was fixed by the end of the day.
Similar here, 2 days after the break-in maintenance got red screen. BMW road help picked up the bike next morning. Battery completely died by that time (that was likely my fault as I forgot the key in the seat lock). I wouldn't ride it myself to the dealer anyway, without speedometer and horn it's illegal. Next day I took the bike back home. Dealer (in the Netherlands) says they only updated the software and charged the battery. Didn't happen again (at least yet). @TheStammeringBiker, good luck with the bike. Hope it is fixed soon and no problems anymore.
You were very brave buying into a job 1 automotive product, especially from BMW. People who design and manufacture new automotive products will tell you to stay well away from new stuff for at least a year, two if possible. We need brave people like you at the front of the queue to help find the real world design/manufacturing gremlins and undocumented features that will always exist. The automotive design graduates, creative thinkers and costs reduction specialists has screwed the industry. BMW, along with others, have made some blinding cock-ups. My 5 Series had a junk diesel six cylinder engine. They've lost me for good. I do feel sorry for the poor people at the sharp end who have to deal with the customers who have been treated badly. Good luck.
I’ve just had this happen today after the bike was delivered back to me by the dealer yesterday after them having it for a couple of weeks to fix other software issues, oil light coming on and an engine rattle it’s had since new! Frustrating to say the least as they’ve had my bike more than I’ve ridden it. Did they diagnose just a faulty TFT?? I’ve started a formal rejection now.
@ Thanks for replying, I’ve just checked the bike again today and it’s now totally dead. Plugged the BMW charger in and it just says “No Battery” so it looks pretty terminal! ☠️
At over £20,000 for the bike, I would be consulting a Solicitor. If it’s on finance the Finance company and the dealer are jointly and severally liable.
I really don't get this 'obsession' with GS's? I was talking to a guy recently that had total electrical failure on a new GS touring Scotland. Bike had to be recovered, and obviously ruined his holiday. Managed to get a refund, then bought another GS! Other bikes are available 🤔
Hi from another Blood biker with an R1300GS. I've also had various issues 1st was the starter relay which was done twice and now has the older 1250 relay The suspension went very soft and the software was updated Then the suspension went down while in France I had 3 brown warning sceens one saying suspension adjustment not avalible The bike was rideable but very low It went in to my dealer and they fitted a new rear shock The next problem was last week on the way to the Lake District the cruise control sundenly cut out and 2 more brown screens this time one saying there is a brake light fault The second saying cruise control not possible due to brake light faulty I stoped and switched the bike off on restart it was OK It did it again latter but then was OK after the restart for the next 300 miles I have had a courtesy bike each time it's been in Lind in Welwyn Garden City Who is your dealer they should be giving you a courtesy bike Mine has done 4000 miles John
The last good BMW bike built was the R100R, I’ve had 2 airheads superb motorcycles, true kick the tyres and light the fire and go bikes, south of France here we come 🤣 my K75 and R1100RS were utter dross my Ducatis and Vespa PX 125 were more reliable on continental tour my last Beemer lunched its motor within a couple of thousand miles fixed under warranty 2 months at the dealers, then within another 1000 miles it burnt its wiring loom from the headlight back warranty was out 2 weeks so nothing they could do they said, the product does not stand up to the hype. was chatting to two GS1200 riders returning on the ferry after a Italian tour, both of their bikes had let them down gearbox and shaft drive issue they got as far as Bordeaux and had to be recovered the were pissed as you would imagine, asked me where I had been told them France n Italy on my Ducati ST4S and they both laughed and said “your brave” 😳
Rule of thumb, never buy an all new model bike, car for minimum 12 months. This allow the silly people who must have the latest to deal with the issues. Not that anyone should have any issues with an all new model. BMW lost the plot years ago, you pay a premium price for a premium product or so you think. I’m keeping my ever Reliable 2008 1200GS which I’ve had since new. Hope you get it all sorted Mate.
Sooo...if noone is silly enough to buy the latest model....what happens then ? I was "silly" enough to buy a 2013 model GS and then a 2018 and now a 2024. Stick with your 2008 model forever mate 🤪
I have 3 BMW's, rhe only issue has been a rear wheel over torqued by dealer 40000+ miles in past 2 years. Friends GSA thats travelled the world two uo fully loaded problem free has fone 200000+ km. Itslian couple similar ehive traveled thousand of KM ibremote oarts if the world 280000km. Friends first trip on 13000gs 8000+ miles round trip to the Sahsra. Aftica twin and Tenere both had problems. All manufacturers outsource today and there are always a small percentage of parts failures! Any decent BMW dealer should be supplying a loan bike though!
Purchased German and European bikes in the past and had nothing but issues with them. Never had a single issue with any of my Japanese bikes, engineered and put together properly unlike BMW’s etc…
Unbelievable them saying we understand you do not want to ride the bike is a joke , no speedo illegal, no indicators what the hell do BMW think they are doing, as a blood biker they should have offered a bike in the first instance , try the courts route as it seems your bike was not fit for purpose when they sold it to you they have your money and now you do not matter to them, and do not accept any excuse as they are an EU company so the warranty is at least 2 years. Another factor is you posting on social media means just as with the KTM cam issues the people thinking of buying and then looking on You Tube for any issues will see the problems and lack of support from BMW UK and take their money elsewhere and this will affect sales. As you say it is BMW UK who are at fault and not your dealer who are doing what they can.
Totally agree. I should really have enquired about the courtesy bike right at the beginning but I didn’t expect it to be so long before it got repaired
Do you NOT have consumer protection laws in your country? Tell the dealer your motorcycle is UNFIT for use!! You have a lemon!! Buy a Japnese motorcycle or a Triumph! I have an 8 year old 800xr . I just replaced orginal battery this year. It Starts everyday. With basic maintenance!! U do not carry basic tool kit in your job?? Bmws Suck when they build lemons! Next time write down yor thoughts , practice your story, then make the video. Stop putting up with crap from dealer! Demand replacement when warranty work is being done immediately!
@@TheStammeringBiker just my recommendation.. statistics show that their reliability (in every area) is not one of the best.. they prefer to invest more in marketing than in real engineering and some people fell for it..

@@craigg4246 bMW do seem to have problems compared to the Japs.
I'm very impressed by your video. Keep doing what you're doing. Don't let your stammer hold you back! Courage!
Thanks Howard really appreciate your kind words!
@@TheStammeringBiker You're welcome. Live your life.
The loyalty to BMW is amazing. So many problems and people keep buying them!
@@richymoto I own a BMW 1250RT. Mine has been good so far apart from the navigation rubbish. But I am constantly hearing of BMW problems.
Thanks mate appreciate it! And yeah it’s not been as premium an experience as I’m used to :(
I am testing the new adventure this week however if this is the way BMW treat their customers then I think I will wait till they have sorted these new bikes out a little more.
You're doing really well. I'd never have guessed you have an issue. And I understand how you feel. I had a stroke in 2016 and have been, well, occasionally missing gears when speaking. The people around me mostly don't notice, but I do. You're doing great. Keep going. And I subbed, of course. 😊
Thank you so much! 🙏
Ive bought another brand of bike now and had no issues so far,
Yeah I’ll be seeing what happens as a result of this and deciding the future of the bike from there!
New GS seems to be a disaster. Todate, I've seen ONE on the road since launch!
Ive heard so many problems about electrical issues on modern bikes. I ride an 1150 gs, my second, the first did 140 000 miles with no problems. The only software issue i have is the seat :-).
Make whatever video makes you happy mate, if people want to watch them happy days 😊
Definitely agree mate! 😎
Haha thanks Nicholas! I’ll bear that in mind for sure!
A courtesy bike should be proivided for the the whole period you are without yours, during warranty. It is called courtesy!
I have to agree! I’m baffled to be honest!
Oh wow I hope you get a good outcome. I have nothing attached to my bike aside from a tracker that the dealer fitted.
Yeah I’ve been referred to as “too passive” before! 🤣 hopefully BMW UK will “make it right” once I get the bike back
Hi,
I’m in the UK, north west area
I’ve done 13000 miles and the red screen has happened to me 3 times.
I suspect there’s a shortage of courtesy bikes down to the sheer number of bikes in for warranty work.
You could well be right!
They are also on back order or in transit.
That’s not good! I hope you manage to get that sorted :(
BMW only come with one key.
Yeah I’ve never had an issue not resolved to be fair and usually with a courtesy bike
You would be a very brave man to buy a Multistrada. Like having another mortgage
You’re right, I’m not much of a shouter to be fair but not sure if that’s good or bad 🤣

Thank you.
Thank you so much! Hopefully I’ll get my bike back soon and I’ll definitely look into a kit review video 😎
As well as the starter relay, there's is going to be a recall on the starter switch cluster. I just had mine done yesterday.
Fingers crossed I don’t have a problem with mine before it’s done then 😬🤣
@@TheStammeringBiker Im holding mine crossed for you!
Yeah for me it’s the most surprising and also frustrating element on top of the very spotty communication
my front fork leak at 2000 miles. Got the re-seal by warranty. I thought this bike should be bullet proof for long trip but it's not
I hope it gets sorted and returned asap.
Thanks mate!
At this point. I think going through the route of complete bike replacement or full refund is the way. A new bike with that many issues will give you more issues in the future. Good luck
Thanks! Hopefully it gets resolved to my liking 🙏
In some respects yes, the 1250 was a better tourer but I still love the 1300 😎
I would be bouncing up and down with BMW , I’ve had one Gilera at least least 10 Suzukis ( two Hondas 😢 ) , 1 Triumph Bonneville , 1 Kawasaki , never had issues like this , that’s since 1984 till now ,
"Hello indeed, I am from Belgium.

Last Monday had the same screen as you (rev counter all red) I had just done 400 km and had had the bike for 3 days !at the moment the bike is back with the dealership who after insisting came to pick the bike up. Any update? Are you back on your bike? I have a 3 month old 1300 GS and have thus far had no problems.
Yep all fixed and back on the road now 😎
Design nightmare followed by so many Reliability issues.
Mark Hooton said his was fixed with a software update as well so I’m perplexed why mine wasn’t able to be fixed so quickly as well
Similar here, 2 days after the break-in maintenance got red screen.
Thank you! I hope so too
You were very brave buying into a job 1 automotive product, especially from BMW. Good luck.
My R1300gs has just had another new recall for yet another mod to the starter relay. But i still like BMW bikes.
I absolutely love my bike, I just wish it wasn’t so problematic 🤣
I’ve just had this happen today after the bike was delivered back to me by the dealer yesterday after them having it for a couple of weeks to fix other software issues, oil light coming on and an engine rattle it’s had since new! Frustrating to say the least as they’ve had my bike more than I’ve ridden it. Did they diagnose just a faulty TFT?? I’ve started a formal rejection now.
Yeah officially it was just a replacement TFT but I imagine they also did a software update as well. Fingers crossed you get a satisfactory outcome 😳

This is not a BMW issue, is a "New" bikes issues, old bikes used to have 2 or 3 points of failure, now they have 50.
Yeah, so many computers and sensors etc, if they say “no” then it’s game over.
Nothing wrong with your public speaking, more so your choice of motorbike 🤣 keep up the good work and I hope you get your bike sorted soon👍
Thanks mate haha
I really don't get this 'obsession' with GS's? I was talking to a guy recently that had total electrical failure on a new GS touring Scotland. Bike had to be recovered, and obviously ruined his holiday. Managed to get a refund, then bought another GS! Other bikes are available 🤔
I do know what you mean, I used to have a Triumph Explorer 1200 and loved it but the BMW just rides in a way that I love
Hi from another Blood biker with an R1300GS. I've also had various issues
1st was the starter relay which was done twice and now has the older 1250 relay
The suspension went very soft and the software was updated
Then the suspension went down while in France I had 3 brown warning sceens one saying suspension adjustment not avalible
The bike was rideable but very low
It went in to my dealer and they fitted a new rear shock
The next problem was last week on the way to the Lake District the cruise control sundenly cut out and 2 more brown screens this time one saying there is a brake light fault
The second saying cruise control not possible due to brake light faulty
I stoped and switched the bike off on restart it was OK
It did it again latter but then was OK after the restart for the next 300 miles
I have had a courtesy bike each time it's been in Lind in Welwyn Garden City
Who is your dealer they should be giving you a courtesy bike
Mine has done 4000 miles
John
Hallo, my Africa twin 5 years old, NO PROBLEM, NO ISSUES…but is not a GS .. cheers
We know its not a GS as it hasnt broken down
Get twice same issue on my 1300gs from nov 23, but disapeared after my trip.. my bike has around 8k km
Fingers crossed it doesn’t happen again for you!
The last good BMW bike built was the R100R, I’ve had 2 airheads superb motorcycles, true kick the tyres and light the fire and go bikes, south of France here we come 🤣 my K75 and R1100RS were utter dross my Ducatis and Vespa PX 125 were more reliable on continental tour my last Beemer lunched its motor within a couple of thousand miles fixed under warranty 2 months at the dealers, then within another 1000 miles it burnt its wiring loom from the headlight back warranty was out 2 weeks so nothing they could do they said, the product does not stand up to the hype. was chatting to two GS1200 riders returning on the ferry after a Italian tour, both of their bikes had let them down gearbox and shaft drive issue they got as far as Bordeaux and had to be recovered the were pissed as you would imagine, asked me where I had been told them France n Italy on my Ducati ST4S and they both laughed and said “your brave” 😳
it is ridiculous to see these numbers keep going up wow now its 1300
There are different motorcycles manufacturers out there, why stick with this one that’s giving you so much grief
I’m starting to think the same!
Well, BMW
You've been incredibly patient but I would be inclined to ask for my money back or, assuming you remain in love with the GS, a replacement, new, bike.
Hopefully it’ll be back soon and with a suitable outcome 😬
I have 3 BMW's, rhe only issue has been a rear wheel over torqued by dealer 40000+ miles in past 2 years.
Friends GSA thats travelled the world two uo fully loaded problem free has fone 200000+ km.
Itslian couple similar ehive traveled thousand of KM ibremote oarts if the world 280000km.
Friends first trip on 13000gs 8000+ miles round trip to the Sahsra. Aftica twin and Tenere both had problems.
All manufacturers outsource today and there are always a small percentage of parts failures!
Any decent BMW dealer should be supplying a
loan bike though!
We dont have any courtesy bikes in the usa for anything from any manufacturer
That blows my mind 🤯
Yep. Asking for a loaner bike in the US. I can hear the dealership laughing from here.
I‘ve got a very precise technical description for this bike: Piece of junk!
Il stick with my Honda v4 1200x crosstourer .
Motorrad have treated you appallingly. Respect for your patience and civility but they are taking the piss not providing you a courtesy bike.
Yeah I’m not best pleased and wondering if I was too placid
Nightmare! I feel for you.
Thank you! Hopefully my issues are gone 🙏
Really poor that BMW bikes have so many issues reported…my Kawasaki bullet proof ( not tempting fate!)
What a nightmare. So much prefer older bikes.
This is very disappointing for a premium brand. Makes you think more and more about the chinese equivalents.
Kit reviews what underwear are wareing do you still rock around with the g-strings
🤣
Wait what. A faulty BMW
i find de service of BMW no good , the leave you in de cold , in belgium it is the same
BMW lost the reliability plot around 2001
Had 3x bmws, great when they work, but too many problems, will never buy bmw again. Far more reliable chinese bikes out there.
Bmw can not built inline 4 cylinder engine ! Only 6 cylinder engine are good !
Should’ve gone the Japanese route🤷🏻♂️
Purchased German and European bikes in the past and had nothing but issues with them. Never had a single issue with any of my Japanese bikes, engineered and put together properly unlike BMW’s etc…
Bring
More
Wrench
BM Trouble you
🤣
My friend, tume for a brand change, no joke's they take tour gard earned cash and treat you like shit 😉🤔
ECU !
They did say it could be that! But apparently it’s the TFT
bring back reliable analogue speedos and tachos...just like on my 2005 T100 Bonneville - never a problem.
We do but getting a bike rejected can be almost impossible (from experience)
BMTroubleyou😂
🤣
Sorry, get rid of this german crap and buy a proper and real engineered and real tested Japanese bike!
I’m tempted!
@@TheStammeringBiker just my recommendation.. statistics show that their reliability (in every area) is not one of the best.. they prefer to invest more in marketing than in real engineering and some people fell for it..
BMW just putting nails in their coffin. Go Japanese and save yourself the problems and easier on your wallet.
They fail as well!
