Thank you for the daily videos! I find it interesting that dodge city ks is having the wettest summer on record since jun 1 and 60 miles west we are on a normal pace. It’s amazing how much it changes in such a short distance

It’s amazing how the precip can vary so much in small areas. Great conditions here. No mosquitoes here in nw illinois this year or last year either.

Good morning from extreme South Mississippi. After having a June where we had a lot of heat and small amounts of rain, July has proven to be a very wet and cooler month. We are sitting at 10.26 inches of rain for the month and about 12 since the last week of June. My neighbors soybeans are looking great after a pretty bad start in June. I fear that if we got a hurricane or even tropical storm into here with all this sodden ground, we'd have catastrophic tree damage and river/creek flooding. As much as all of us hated the extreme heat/drought last August and September, the high pressure that cause it deflected all the hurricanes away from us.
I had to travel from here to Huntsville AL about a month ago, and I can tell you that dryland corn was in sad shape in west and north central Alabama. Fields looked more like pineapples than corn, much of which was at the tassel point. I know they've gotten some recent rain, but suspect their yields were set by then. Beans looked droughty too, but they probably benefited from the rains.
Hope you have a safe return trip.

Safe travels, Such a discouraging forecast for the Northern Nebraska Panhandle. We have had .5" rain in the last 30 days, and yet we are just outside the shaded area of the drought monitor due to the rains picking up just to the east of us. As we harvest wheat and oats and get ready to plant cover crops, the lack of moisture in the next 10 days is really discouraging.

Us too in central Florida... they say we got 4 inches in the last 7.... .10, mayyybe, but def not an inch, much less multiple inches. Matter of fact, the last time we had any decent rain was this El Nino winter. Before that, it was 5 years of drought, and rain a few times a year. Now, it's another La Nina winter. It's like no one is talking about this becoming the new normal... persistent La Ninas... and how it's changing the landscape. I've only found 1 paper, cowritten by 2 gentleman, talking about multiple La Nina reoccurrences, and what it means for the changing planet.

Last year during summer you showed a graphic from Iowa State that was either a stress index on temperatures that were too hot during the day or too hot during the night. Where do you find that at?

Current working theory is that a weakening/failing AMOC will move patterns up to 200 miles south from record- watch this years hurricane tracks.

Got missed again on the east side of Phx. West side had up to 70mph winds!
