The guy who plays Axl's boss is actually a real policeman. The man who did the casting for the movie saw him in the Detroit police department and asked him to play a cop in the movie.
Classic film. I love the interaction with Serge. "Get the fuck out of here" "Noooooo...I cannot" When Bronson hosted SNL, he reprised the role for a sketch. The crowd whooped when that happened.
A piece of trivia on this movie: Lisa Eilbacher who plays Eddie Murphy's friend in this movie as Jenny, just two years earlier played Casey Seeger in the movie 'An Officer and a Gentleman.' Being a big fan of the earlier movie, and from that age group, I guess I had the hots for Lisa (in addition to being hot for Debra Winger of course, who I first saw as a teenager playing Wonder Woman's younger sister in that TV series). I'm a guy, what do you expect 😉
Serge was played by Bronson Pinchot who invented the accent for the role which was so popular it became the seed for a tv sitcom called 'Perfect Strangers'. They changed the characters name but the quirky accent was on showcase.
This was originally written with Sylvester Stallone in mind. Disagreements over the script led to him converting the movie into the film, Cobra. Eddie Murphy was also planned to play Winston in Ghostbusters but he took this movie instead. Yes. The instrumental, “Axel F. Foley Theme”, was written for this film.

"I'm just burning doing the Neutron Dance. Woohoo I'm just burning doing the Neutron Dance." Jen, that had me and my sis dancing all over the living room before there was any dance-off video games. That's how awesome that song was.
The soundtrack in this movie became a international hit in the 80's. If this movie is your type of thing then Fletch(1985), The Golden Child(1986) and probably Big Trouble In Little China(1986) will entertain you with action and comedy.
Making the music your low key MVP was a great choice. To me, this is the top performance that I've ever seen from Eddie Murphy. This movie has a great blend of comedy, action and drama, and it does a great job of putting it all together. I also think that this is all you need to see from this series. The sequels do not come close to being as good as this. However, it's your call. Thank you for watching this fun movie. Great job!
Harold Faltermeyer, who does the Axel F theme song throughout this movie, did a similar theme song a couple years before for a Chevy Chase movie called Fletch which is also a lot of fun to watch.
I’d also like to add the Running Man, Tango & Cash and Kuffs. Makes me wonder if he did music for great movies, or if the movies were great because he did music for them.
I read the book, Fletch. It was MUCH better than the film. It won the very prestigious Edgar Award which is a big deal among mystery writers, for what that's worth.

The employee who gives Eddie Murphy those two bananas was played by Damon Wayans; this was actually his first film role. "Serj" was played by Bronson Pinchot, who at the time was known for co-starring in a hit television sitcom called Perfect Strangers. His "schtick" as an actor was playing supporting roles, mostly comedic, and mostly involving the use of a strong accent (but never the same accent). He also had a small role in True Romance, an insanely good 1993 film written by Quentin Tarantino and featuring more great actors than an Oscars after party.
What a great choice. Btw, you WILL love Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. You have to check out 48 Hours with Eddie and Nick Nolte. They have amazing chemistry together and the movie in my mind is at the pinnacle of 80's Cop buddy movies. Cheers Jen!
The banana in the tailpipe works because an engine is essentially an air pump. Air and fuel go in, get compressed and ignited, and then is pumped out. The banana blocks the only exit to the system, so all of the burned gases get trapped, which eventually backs up into the engine itself and chokes combustion. The banana basically choked the engine to death.
10:23 _"Man,_ this music is good." I don't remember exactly how old I was when I first heard it, but I was a kid, and I loved it _instantly._ I had not seen this movie, and it has no lyrics, so I had _no_ way to ask anyone what it was called, but _Axel F_ played on the radio, over and over again. It was a very happy time.
Yes, Jen, the theme music was written for the film, it's called Axel F by Harold Faltermeyer. There is another two Beverley Hills Cop films, they're great sequels.
Not enough people use the phrase "wreaking havoc" anymore, luckily Jen has that covered; another reason why she's one of the best! 🎉 Notice the weirdness of Axel and his friends. I cannot see those three people knowing each other. Not least because Eddie is younger than the other two. It woukd probably have made more sense with the original casting (Stallone) but would have made for a far worse film. See: Cobra, the Stallone picture that rose from the ashes of the early Beverly Hills Cop. Or better, don't! Edit: "Is the music like written for this movie?" Well, the thene you were humming is entitled "Axel F" 🤫☺️ Love how into BHC Jen was. Her appreciation of the fantastic music was also a highlight.
I remember when this came out. It was a perfect summers night with friends and everyone was in great spirits popping in to see Eddie Murphy wise crack his way through this charming, upbeat action comedy that leaves you smiling. Perfect setup for a few beers in the pub next door. Nice how Iked the score as it’s really quite a strong feature and perfectly sets the tone and underlining tension.
@@rustincohle2135 that all depends on where u live. It came out on 4th of April in West Germany… I saw it the first weekend of May and we woke up to a toasty 24 degrees cent ;-)
It's been so long since I've seen this movie, I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Foley, Rosewood, and Taggart make a great team. You were wise to talk over Rosewood when he was talking about the ending of _Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid._ That's the best western movie of all time and you wouldn't want it spoiled for you. I'm sorry I missed the premiere but somebody put a banana in my tailpipe.
6:00 Hey Jen! Thank you for sharing this! I haven't seen Beverly Hills Cop in years and completely forgot that Bronson Pinchot was in it. I'm sure you can tell it wasn't his real accent. haha He is best remembered as one of the two lead actors on the sitcom, Perfect Strangers. I loved that show so much. Pinchot played a naive, good-hearted but strange character named Balki Bartokomous, a farmer and sheep-herder from the fictional Mediterranean island of Mepos. He moves into the apartment of his cynical but overall good-hearted cousin Larry Appleton (Mark Linn-Baker) in Chicago and learns about the ways of American life, etc. Lots of comedy, lots of heart. Worth checking out, if you feel like some late 80s/early 90s half hour comedy. It ran for 8 seasons.
A major reaction youtuber finally does this movie, and it was AMAZING. Good job, Jen. Yes, the song that you asked if it was made for the movie - it was. It's called Axel F. So many good songs, so many good scenes and lines. I am in the minority most likely, but this is the best Eddie Murphy movie (second was the animated Mulan :)) Great job. Thanks so much.
Eddie Murphy was such a huge screen icon at this time. He was hitting gold mixing action and comedy. Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2. 48 Hours and Another 48 hours. Trading Places and Coming to America. He had a real effortless charm and charisma that audiences could connect to.
Saw this and part 2 in the theater with one of my best friends. We learned one important lesson, do not take a drink of pop during this movie, you will choke. Also, if you get a large pop, do not drink it all at once, because this movie will make you pee. We went around high school quoting it endlessly, lol. Favorite line: Chief: "What is this man doing here?" Axel Foley: "Bleeding, sir.".
True fact, especially when he already starred alongside with Dolly Parton in Rhinestone. He made right decision to let Eddie Murphy to take the role. Waiting to see if the 4th sequel is still happening
Bronson Pinchott is Serge. He was very famous for a show called perfect Strangers. he is also great at audio books. The man with the Fruit is Damon Wayans from In Living Color and other tv shows/ movies.
When Eddie Murphy was a non stop hit machine. Dude wasn't even 25 yet and he'd already saved Saturday night live, Had the biggest comedy album in the world, a hit concert film, and several smash hit movies (48 Hrs, Trading Places, and this). soon after this he had a top 40 hit single.
Love this movie. You kept talking about the soundtrack, this and Footloose were two of the best soundtracks of the 80s. Completing the top 5 are, Ghostbusters 2, and BHC 2 and Top Gun. Honorable mention goes to Ghostbusters
If you enjoyed this, Martin Brest also directed another (lesser known) comedy-action movie called Midnight Run. I've been trying to get reactors to react to this for years, but no one ever does it. Lol. It's git Robert Deniro and Charles Grodin in it. It also stars John Ashton (who plays Taggert in this movie), and a great score from Danny Elfman. It's a totally fun road-trip movie and well worth the watch. :)
Elfman did the theme to The Frightners, which is a Peter Jackson directed film with MJ Fox. A bit outside of MJ Fox's usual stuff but entertaining enough.
“I don't know what kind of accent that is” funny, Bronson Pinchot said developed that character with that exact sentiment. He met people on different businesses in Beverly Hills that have this accent, and you have no idea where they are from. The banana buffet guy is a comedian/actor Damon Wayons(Lethal weapon TV show etc.).
It's good to see Jen truly enjoyed this one. "Just crash through the gate! ...[crash]... yeaa that's what I want!" ....[then nods head to the dope music haha] . :)
It was a box office and critical success making $390 million dollars against a $15 million dollar budget. It was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 1985 Academy Awards. It was originally going to star Sylvester Stallone as the lead, but had a falling out with the writers as he wanted it to be more action packed and serious rather than a comedy. He would turn his version of Beverly Hills Cop into COBRA.
Have to admire the technology that the Beverly Hills PD had in 1984 in this movie, considering there was no GPS or Internet back then. That means that to locate those officers' vehicles each one must have had a radio transmitter, and the police had enough radio receivers around the city to triangulate exactly where each car is. Then they had their own computer database - with 1984 computer technology, no less! - that had the addresses and their residents of the entire city of Beverly Hills. The size of the servers to hold that much info with early 1980s computer technology must have been huge. I mean, I know Beverly Hills is full of rich taxpayers, but that's kinda crazy.
Iconic film and an iconic theme for Axel Foley. Idk I always like when he meets Serge. I love the "Get the f outta here!" "No, I can not!" exchange. Cracks me up. Btw they're great in the follow ups.
From the golden age of 80s action comedies. As you noted, the action could be quite intense and violent but really competent done. The ending shootout is really intense with perfect pacing for comedy moments. Incredible how good Eddie Murphy is. He elevated everything he touched in the 80s. He lost his mojo in the mid 90s though outside of the great voicework in Shrek.
There was quite a lotta improv. Naturally, Eddie Murphy was given room to work. Also, Bronson Pinchot was totally responsible for Serge and the whole bumbling duo of Billy and Taggert trying to get over the wall on Victor's property. For Eddie, one example in particular where the director went to him and said, this scene is kinda empty, do something there, and Eddie said to the valet to take care of his car cuz all this happened last time I parked here.....totally an Eddie Murphy improv line. Seeing his standup routines, it's pretty easy to see where he put his own stamp on so many insanely funny moments. It would've been a dismal flop (all due respect) if Stallone had insisted on going forward. It just wasn't that kind of movie.
Bronson Pinchot says he based the accent on an Israeli makeup woman, but a director friend who knew him at Yale said Pinchot's been doing "Serge" forever. He would purposely alter the vowel sounds in people's names. He created a language and a way of thinking for himself. He was just a very creative individual and essentially created his own accent. I'd bet anything that the scenes with Serge and Axel bouncing off each other in the store were improvised.
This movie has a hell of a history. The studio didn't want Eddie Murphy, so they got Stallone to replace Eddie. Stallone rewrote the movie and not only ramped up the action but he used the book Fair Game as inspiration for his script. WHen the studio projected Stallone's version to go way over budget, The producer and Martin Brest convinced the studio to rehire Eddie as it would be cheaper to make the original movie instead. Which is what happened and that's we got this version of Beverly Hills Cop. Side note: A few years later Stallone retooled his script to Beverly Hills Cop which ended up being the movie Cobra. A definte watch for just how ridicolous and awesome the movie is. Side Side note: The author of the book Fair Game sued Stallone and got to make a movie out of her book too called, Fair Game starring William Baldwin and CIndy Crawford. It's utterly forgettable compared to BHC and Cobra.
Back in the 80's as kids we'd hang out at the mall, one of the things we did was go to the music store...not the store that sold records but musical instruments or even just pianos and organs...any way, we'd go to that store and on the organ try to work out how to play the Axle Foley theme. It was always that tune because it's easy to figure out key by key and sounded so cool, with the organ in the right key it sounded just like the synth sound in the movie. We'd try to work out the tune as far as we could until sooner or later we were always kicked out.
My friends and I went on a road trip from Colorado to Los Angeles after high school and wound up in Beverly Hills. We stopped at a stop light and a really nice truck pulled up next to us. It was driven by, honest to God, Willy Nelson!! As Bruce Willis says in "Die Hard": F--kin' California! 😁
Ah... from the days when a film could have entirely original music and songs, and all of them would be memorable! No covers needed. I believe this was the most successful comedy of all time for years (it replaced previous title holder Ghostbusters within a matter of months).
My friends and I saw this in the theater, and I have probably watched it close to a hundred times since then, including the 2nd movie. Such a fun, great movie, and awesome soundtrack. This is Eddie Murphy at his best, in his prime. To this day I still find reasons to use "we're not going to fall for the banana in the tailpipe." XD
This movie was just so much fun, but with very serious moments that drove the plot forward. I wish there were more movies like this today: good characters and music, decent story, doesn't take itself too seriously, and doesn't lean heavily on big explosions and eye candy actors. Thanks for the reaction!
Well what does stuffing banana'a up the exhaust pipe of a car do? Well since the car engine pumps an air fuel mixture through the engine. ANYTHING that restricts the air flow will cause ur vehicle to either stop running or not run nearly as well.
Jen, we love that you're reaching out across generations to become familiar with the movies that defined my generation (don't make me say which generation). You will find, if you haven't already, that cultural literacy as I call it makes awkward cocktail parties and family get-togethers a breeze..or can't hurt.
I've seen this movie so many times, I have incorporated quotes into my vocabulary and I don't even realize it! LOL Eddie was the man back then. Such a great time. That soundtrack was off the hook back in the day. It was everywhere and it was great!
Eddie Murphy in his first lead role and also producer. He became a certified superstar and BHC was the No.1 film of 1984,.dethroning Ghostbusters. Among several awards including a Grammy-winning soundtrack and an Oscar-nominated screenplay. The score was by Harold Faltermeyer and he created the infamous 'Axel F' theme. Part 2 (1987) was phenomenal. Part 3 (1993) was too wacky and not so good. Part 4 is suppose to happen real soon.
I've loved this movie, Eddie Murphy, the music in it since I was a kid. (Yes, my parents let me and my younger brother watch it as a kid. The '80s were fun.)
If you want more of that art display assistant, Bronson Pinchot soon went on to make a name for himself playing in the comedy series, Perfect Strangers.
Beverly Hills Cop 2 is also really really good. It legit holds up. WATCH IT!!! These were so good. Yep the song "Axel F" made for this movie if i recall, considering it's named after the main character. Note: -the guy that got thrown over the buffet Plays Mike Ehrmantraut in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. -Serge: is hilarious. That's an actor named Bronson Pinchot. Loved that you left that scene in the reaction. I always remember that scene cause it was huge at the time. He had a huge sitcom in the 80s called "Perfect Strangers" where he plays an immigrant from some Eastern Block country. It's a fish out of water sitcom. I think this performance kinda got him that show if i remember correctly. -Loved Paul Riser. "this is not my locker!" Use to love "Mad about you."
LOL, best lunch break in some time. JM doing an Eddie Murphy impression is just what the day needed to brighten things up. "Taaalk ta me!" mmmmwah chef's kiss. LOL this sound track on cassette was in my case back in the good old days. "This music makes me wanna work out," Yeah that kind of music was perfect for the 80's 20 min workout videos with the leg warmers, arm bands and headbands. Oh man totally forgot that this was one of the few times that Ronny Cox played the good guy. "Just crash through the gates, yeah that's what I want," tactical Jen on the case 🤘
The actor who played Serge was Bronson Pinchot who later had success on tv in a sitcom called 'Perfect Strangers' about two cousins one American played by Mark Linn Baker and one from a European country played by Pinchot in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He is an American, but seems to play weird characters with weird accents...like Serge and Bialki from 'Perfect Strangers'. Billy was played by Judge Reinhold who co-starred in one of the best high school comedies ever made, 'Fast Times At Ridgemont High' with Sean Penn, Jennifer Jason Leigh. Phoebe Cates, and Forest Whitaker. He has one legendary scene with Phoebe Cates...and that's all I will say. Another film with an AMAZING soundtrack, and based on the novel by Cameron Crowe who adapted the screenplay (and later became an Oscar winner starting his Hollywood career). Jenny was played Lisa Eilbacher, one of the 1980s most unsung actresses who made a splash in a few big films but just kinda retired. Another great film she was in was 'An Officer and A Gentleman' with Richard Gere and Louis Gossett, Jr., about Naval Flight School recruits. This was one of the major films produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, who had a rock solid track record in the 1980s and into the 90s until Simpson's untimely death. Others were 'Flashdance', 'Top Gun', 'Days of Thunder', 'Crimson Tide', 'Dangerous Minds', and 'The Rock'...all worthwhile watches!!! They were known for the amazing soundtracks for their films. The villain Victor Maitland was played by British actor Steven Berkoff. He mainly did stage work, but every film performance I have ever seen has been a masterclass in subtlety and intensity, villain or good guy...mainly villains. When Axel checks out of the hotel, and Billy and Taggart settle the bill...the actor working the front desk is the film's director Martin Breast. Another GREAT film you should see by this director is 'Scent of a Woman' which FINALLY won Al Pacino the Academy Award for Best Actor after many nominations and losses. Oh...and Axel's boss in Detroit, Inspector Todd, was actually a real Detroit cop named Gil Hill...the only acting work he did was in the three 'Beverly Hill Cop' movies. BH 2 is worthwhile, but BH 3....ummmm....not so much!
Eddie was in his heyday. His trademark was his asthmatic dog sounding laugh. Very entertaining in most of his efforts. 48 hrs is a similar movie with Eddie playing a criminal playing a policeman. The Golden Child is a detective/ supernatural thing. Eddie's movie library is large. Banana man was Damon Wayans. Daymon, Earth girls are easy with Jeff Goldblum and Jim Carrey. Last boyscout with Bruce Willis. Serge was best known as cousin Balki Bartokomous on TV sitcom perfect strangers. During the 80s movie soundtrack sales were huge. Musical types were eager to be heard on the big screen. Good job Jen!
I love the "Beverly Cops. The first soundtrack for a movie. I'm a huge Eddie Murphy fan,we have a lot in common. Beverly Hills Cop 2 is one of my favorite movies ever. I can't wait for the 2nd one. Serge also played in a show that was really great. It's called "Perfect Strangers 👍
Here's a piece of "did you know" trivia? Lisa Eilbacher who plays Jenny, also tried out for Princess Leia from Star Wars, but of course lost out to Carrie Fisher. The few things I ever saw Lisa in(Officer & A Gentleman & Ten to Midnight), she was a good actress, so I always wonder what might have been. ua-cam.com/video/Lg4KbjapLmg/v-deo.html
Yeah, we Gen-X-ers don't brag about it, but we grew up with some damned fine music. I've had the chorus to "Neutron Dance" stuck in my head for decades.
Cool Factoid: This is one of the few movies that was actually filmed on the streets of Detroit. And yes the neighborhoods looked like the way you way saw them and some areas still look like that. The guy in the Art gallery was played by Bronson Pincho I know I slaughtered the name, the one gave Axel the bananas is Daymon Waynes.
Fun fact: if you had a home computer in the 80s, you almost certainly had a version of Axel F that could play on it. Regardless of the computers sound capabilities, as long as it had any. 🙂
When I was in Jr. HS science class, my teacher said this super nerdy joke "What does an electron do when it is excited?...... It does The Neutron Dance!" (That was the name of one of the songs in the soundtrack by the Pointer Sisters) We just rolled our eyes most likely because that was a few years after the movie. LMAO
Another great reaction Jen. I love this movie its one of best buddies cop movies of all time and has a great soundtrack. It's one of those movies I have to watch at least once a year. 10:23 _"Man,_ this music is good."
I don't remember exactly how old I was when I first heard it, but I was a kid, and I loved it _instantly._ I had not seen this movie, and it has no lyrics, so I had _no_ way to ask anyone what it was called, but _Axel F_ played on the radio, over and over again.
Notice the weirdness of Axel and his friends.
Edit: "Is the music like written for this movie?" Well, the thene you were humming is entitled "Axel F" 🤫☺️
Love how into BHC Jen was.
So glad she recognized the sound track. I love the tunes but n this movie.
How could you fall for a banana in your tailpipe?!?
6:00 Hey Jen! Thank you for sharing this! I haven't seen Beverly Hills Cop in years and completely forgot that Bronson Pinchot was in it. I'm sure you can tell it wasn't his real accent. haha
He is best remembered as one of the two lead actors on the sitcom, Perfect Strangers.
Loved Perfect Strangers.
A major reaction youtuber finally does this movie, and it was AMAZING. Good job, Jen. Yes, the song that you asked if it was made for the movie - it was. It's called Axel F. So many good songs, so many good scenes and lines. I am in the minority most likely, but this is the best Eddie Murphy movie (second was the animated Mulan :))
Great job. Thanks so much.
@@jjkhawaiian well, not his first. I think Trading Places and 48 Hours were before BHC, but I might be wrong.
Thanks Zator! I had a ball watching this & dancing all the way through to the awesome music 🎶
He is at his peak
Saw this and part 2 in the theater with one of my best friends. We learned one important lesson, do not take a drink of pop during this movie, you will choke. Also, if you get a large pop, do not drink it all at once, because this movie will make you pee. We went around high school quoting it endlessly, lol. Favorite line: Chief: "What is this man doing here?" Axel Foley: "Bleeding, sir.".
Fun fact: Sylvester Stallone was originally set to star in "Beverly Hills Cop"! Thank god they took Eddie Murphy!
He wanted to make this movie into Cobra, so you’re right, thank god it didn’t happen.
True fact, especially when he already starred alongside with Dolly Parton in Rhinestone. He made right decision to let Eddie Murphy to take the role. Waiting to see if the 4th sequel is still happening
Mickey Rourke as well apparently.
Bronson Pinchott is Serge. He was very famous for a show called perfect Strangers. he is also great at audio books. The man with the Fruit is Damon Wayans from In Living Color and other tv shows/ movies.
Beverly Hills Cop 2 is also well worth watching, so I highly recommend it. You'll be happy to hear that Paul Reiser has more of a role in it :)
I love Beverly Hills Cop and which is still my favorite movie of all time.
You beat me to it by 6hrs (blasted time zones!). Brest's BEST movie.
Elfman did the theme to The Frightners, which is a Peter Jackson directed film with MJ Fox. A bit outside of MJ Fox's usual stuff but entertaining enough.
Inspector Todd was played by real life detective Gilbert Hill. Can't believe I was 18 when I saw this.🤩
“I don't know what kind of accent that is” funny, Bronson Pinchot said developed that character with that exact sentiment.
Beverly Hills Cop is a much better movie than COBRA. I’m sure it made considerably more money as well..
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 and Sly as Axel Foley will never work
The songs Nuetron Dance by The Pointer Sisters and "Alex F" were big and charted in the 80s cause of this movie.
This is SUCH an 80s movie.
Looking forward to this Jen. When I was much younger I had developed an Eddie Murphy laugh. Drove people crazy. Try it 😉
From the golden age of 80s action comedies.
The colon contents are upon autopsy, where the deceased may have had reduced colon muscle contractions due to illness or pain medications (opiates).
The year this film came out was so many great movies but this was one of the stand outs
09:10 - Damon Wayans
Beverly Hills Cop 2 is an excellent sequel, with an excellent soundtrack. I hope you watch it!
The film that made Eddie Murphy a superstar, and he has never looked back. Great reaction to this classic! 👍🏿
It was actually 48 Hours.
@@Madbandit77 that was his big breakthrough
My friends and I went on a road trip from Colorado to Los Angeles after high school and wound up in Beverly Hills. We stopped at a stop light and a really nice truck pulled up next to us. It was driven by, honest to God, Willy Nelson!!
As Bruce Willis says in "Die Hard": F--kin' California! 😁
LOL You saw him...On the road again!
@@jjkhawaiian This was before weed was legalized. I'm sure Willie "never inhaled." 😄

9:09 Guy is Damon Wayans from "My Wife and Kids" :)
Ah... from the days when a film could have entirely original music and songs, and all of them would be memorable!
I wanted to make a banana/tailpipe joke, but I couldn't figure how to make not sound dirty. 😁
Another great reaction, Jen. I love your sensibility. 👍
Banana in the tailpipe is supposed to sound dirty :)
Part 3 was way over the top
The black guy you recognized is DAMON WAYANS
I've loved this movie, Eddie Murphy, the music in it since I was a kid. (Yes, my parents let me and my younger brother watch it as a kid. The '80s were fun.)
If you want more of that art display assistant, Bronson Pinchot soon went on to make a name for himself playing in the comedy series, Perfect Strangers.
Beverly Hills Cop 2 is also really really good. It legit holds up. WATCH IT!!! These were so good. Yep the song "Axel F" made for this movie if i recall, considering it's named after the main character.
Note:
-the guy that got thrown over the buffet Plays Mike Ehrmantraut in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
This is one of my top funny cop movie of the 80s. Eddie Murphy is at his best. The soundtrack is dynamite! Looking forward to the sequel.
Just realized watching this, the main thug, the guy who kills Axels friend, is Mike from Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul
Yeah, we Gen-X-ers don't brag about it, but we grew up with some damned fine music. I've had the chorus to "Neutron Dance" stuck in my head for decades.
I laughed a little too hard when Jen asked " What happens when you put bananas in the tailpipe?".
Another great Eddie Murphy movie is "Coming to America."
Everytime I come across this on tv, this is one of those movies that I'll keep on
Serge is played by Bronson Pinchot who made up the accent and I'm pretty sure he improvised his lines. He is known as being kind of a quirky dude.
LMAO
Damon Wayans from In Living Color 1990 was the one that gave Eddie Murphy a few bananas at the upscale hotel 👍 🙂
Another great reaction Jen. I love this movie its one of best buddies cop movies of all time and has a great soundtrack.
It's one of those movies I have to watch at least once a year. The guy giving Eddie Murphy the bannas is Damon Wayans. He's a great comedian and been in a lot of movies and TV show.
"I'm not falling for no bananas in the tail pipr." Classic! 🤣
Thanks vic! I had a blast watching this one & giggling/dancing all the way through! ☺👍
This is one of my favorite 80s movies, I really enjoyed your reaction to it. The soundtrack is truly great! I'm trying to catch up on my back- log of your older reactions. All great so far!
Such a great movie! ☺️👍
Loved the first scene where the chase starts, all the rules for driving went right OUT THE WINDOW 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I saw this one in May 1985 when it first came out on VHS tape rented it @ my favorite video store. You have to remember that there were no DVD players back in the day
