I had Mulberry (for 6years) and Valextra (for 1 year) bag and their quality is way better than lots of brands that are in trend now. They definitely deserve more attention and their style really last for many years. 👍🏻
It’s so good to know that the bags hold up well over time. Sadly I think sometimes when people buy trendy bags, they don’t care for it to last a long time because the trend will be over by then.
The quality of Mulberry (Iris) is so much better than Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and others I have looked at. They are becoming more popular since their prices have gone up.
I love Aspinal of London and Launer. British bags have an elegance and more discrete about logos. On the less pricy end, I love some of the Brahmin of Boston croc bags. Amazing colors and for the price point they really hold up. I’ve had an ostrich blue bag for years and it looks brand new,

I love that they rereleased the Alexa bag too. If only it was easier to get into the bag...between the turn lock and the magnets on the straps in front I think it’s too inconvenient for me.

Love italian brand coccinelle! Great classic designs, italian leather as the brand is from italy, affordable quality goods, and most importantly- love what the brand is about!!! Their campaigns are always positive and are for real women! Plus their dustbag is pink 🌸🌸🌸
Note: I'm female, my YT name is to scare away the mean men on here. I have the Chloe Daria and love it. I think it's beautifully unique, and it has SO much space inside. While the shoulder strap is so comfortable. I love the three handles, they are all useful. It was my first designer bag purchase, Chloe's designs are so young and fresh, both in the moment and timeless. I think a lot of designer bags are absolutely hideous. My Chloe Daria makes me feel new again. It's sophistic, and romantic.
I also highly recommend a brand of bag called "Chila bags" - they're handmade and so pretty. They're not designer, I guess, but they're unique, a little boho. The company are very communicative and ship fast. I have two from them, too. :)

I love how light the Moynat Gabrielle is! I just bought a Cabotin and am looking to add a Rejane to my collection eventually, so I'm hoping the quality doesn't decline much despite the change in creative director. Totally get the kdrama influence - I'm in the market for a white top handle/shoulder bag and have been looking at options, and I briefly considered the Chloe Daria because I saw Seo Yeji advertising it. (The bag looks kinda heavy though)
I loved Seo Yeji’s style so much in It’s Okay To Not Be Okay. So over the top but the dresses were so pretty! And I agree about Moynat. Sometimes a brand will go in a totally different direction with a new creative director. I hope that doesn’t happen.
I absolutely love Moynat and Valextra. I have the Iside black in medium but now I want to add a red one to my collection. I also really like Dellaluna Venezia and Serapian Milano.
Oh yes I was going back and forth between the two bags but decided I want the Gabrielle first. I feel like I’ll probably end up getting both eventually.
Nice choices all of them. Anyway it’s funny how we all are into a very specific style of bags for me are quilted flaps. They just drive me nuts in a good way. I just feel them so versatile and how easy you can dress them up or down and how some are more edgy while others go into the more sophisticated side. But at the end a quilted flap is a big win.

Totally agree about Mulberry. I am a huge fan of Mulberry, and own several pieces. It is just so satisfying to carry them. The leather is very good, and the look is pretty classic and chic. And the price tag is more reasonable in my opinion.
I also want to buy the Mulberry Pocket book planner. They are beautiful! Maybe in the future even a nice wallet. We’ll see. For now I’m happy with the bags. 😊

I recently purchased the Mulberry Small Iris and the quality of the bag is phenomenal. I had purchased the Givenchy Antigona soft and for $2000 it was underwhelming, I returned it.
I’m really contemplating getting the Mulberry Alexa right now…the only thing stopping me is I already bought 4 bags this year 🙈 I agree their quality is great!
I love valextra. If you want bags that will last you a lifetime. Buy this brand. In my opinion only Hermès can compete with this luxury brand when it comes to construction, craftsmanship, and the glazing. Handmade , stitching completely impeccably done. I have to warn you, as the owner of an Iside, I don't think I'd buy it again. The bags are beautiful and understated, but the Iside tends to develop a slouchy crease about 4/5 of the way down the bag and does not hold its structure as well as you'd expect from what looks like a structured bag and it is near impossible to find bag inserts for Valextra bags. Would recommend going with Moynat instead, though it is in a different price range.

Also I'm one of those people who reads details and I appreciate that chloe shows in detail in most of their bags like how the leather is semi aniline (which only high grade leathers can be dyed in aniline due to them taking in that kind of dye) so they show us that their quality is quite sufficient.

I also was eyeing the chloe nile bag a few years ago but never pulled the trigger, and so glad I didn't! I kept my eye out for a bracelet bag though because of the nile, I think it is so useful for events like weddings. Recently, I got the d'estree mini lucio bag instead, and I'm so happy with it! It's this indie french brand that started off making hats, but now have a small range of bags with really architectural designs. Check them out!

I love a good top handle bag as much as you do, and for me the game changer is really a slip back pocket for the cell phone given how much I need to take my phone out to check into many places where I live as part of covid measures.
A back pocket that is big enough for a phone is so hard to come by. I like keeping my phone separate too but now that I’m using smaller bags in general it’s hard to do.

Hi Carol! Thanks for this video. I love love love Mulberry, but the Iris bag is a little shapeless and slouchy when you fill it up. So that’s a bummer. I’m a little confused about which bag to buy next. I’m leaning towards the Celine Belt Bag Mini in the gorgeous green Amazone or the LV V tote MM in Turtledove. I have the LV never full and the LV cluny MM but don’t own a Celine yet. Would love your thoughts 😊. Thanks!!
Although I love my Celine Belt Bag in the pico size I think in this case since you’re considering the largest size they offer, it may not be the easiest bag to use. I haven’t been using the zipper on my bag and just close the flap to make it easier to get stuff in and out but on the mini size I think there would be too much weight in the bag to just close the flap and leave it unzipped, especially since the handle and shoulder strap are both attached towards the back of the bag rather than down the middle. On the other hand, the LV V tote seems less fussy because you can just leave it unzipped and I also like the style with the contrast between the embossed and smooth leather. So in this case I would go for the LV, but I do love Celine as a whole and the amazon color is stunning. Hope this helps 😊

Honestly it’s hard to say but I think it will be a bit of an issue still. I’m basing this on the fact that Celine changes the flap closure from a magnetic one to more of hook closure for the bigger sizes which leads me to believe that they expect people to put enough in the bag so that the magnet alone without the zipper won’t be able to keep the bag from opening when it’s carried. I realize I didn’t mention this in my initial reply but my concern regarding having to use the zipper for the Belt Bag is not about the bag not being secure without zipping it up but rather that the bag may not hold its shape over time because of how the weight is distributed.
Wow I didn’t know about this brand before you mentioned it. Seems like they have a few bags that look similar to other designer bags but for a lower price. I can’t comment on quality because I’ve never owned any or tried them on in person, but I quite like the look of the ones with the circular closure in the front.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing that. I believe that it’s your bag and you should wear it how you want to 😊 I would say that there’s two things to keep in mind when swapping for a chain strap: 1. Make sure that the hardware matches in color. Sometimes there’s a difference between light gold/antique gold/etc. The good thing about Celine is the hardware on their bags is often pretty minimal, so it’s not as likely to clash. 2. Depending on the size of the bag a chain strap may be very uncomfortable and dig into your shoulder. I know you mentioned a mini Celine bag. If you mean the size that Celine labels as “mini” they’re actually quite big and I don’t think a chain strap will work for that weight. But if you mean mini how I think the word is generally used then I think a chain is fine.

So in this case I would go for the LV, but I do love Celine as a whole and the amazon color is stunning. Hope this helps 😊

CAROL CHAN - a quick question, if you have the time. Do you think the Micro belt bag would have the same issue once you add weight to it?
Honestly it’s hard to say but I think it will be a bit of an issue still. I’m basing this on the fact that Celine changes the flap closure from a magnetic one to more of hook closure for the bigger sizes which leads me to believe that they expect people to put enough in the bag so that the magnet alone without the zipper won’t be able to keep the bag from opening when it’s carried. I realize I didn’t mention this in my initial reply but my concern regarding having to use the zipper for the Belt Bag is not about the bag not being secure without zipping it up but rather that the bag may not hold its shape over time because of how the weight is distributed.

What's your opinion of le parmentier bags?
Wow I didn’t know about this brand before you mentioned it. Seems like they have a few bags that look similar to other designer bags but for a lower price. I can’t comment on quality because I’ve never owned any or tried them on in person, but I quite like the look of the ones with the circular closure in the front.

Also, what is your opinion of oroton? I like the oroton icon clutch and similar like amelie, hazel etc
I think overall I like le parmentier more. Oroton has a few designs that I think look nice but most of them don’t really stand out to me.
@@CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC fair enough. I guess I'm really after a status brand, but while Parmentier and ortoton have some chic expensive looking designs, I'm thinking I would rather pay more and get a real Celine or Chloe etc.
One last question - l like the Celine mini handbags but not their strap. If l use my own gold chain strap to such an expensive designer bag, is it a big no-no? Am I committing a huge faux pas?? What's the unspoken rule about this? Please advise
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing that. I believe that it’s your bag and you should wear it how you want to 😊 I would say that there’s two things to keep in mind when swapping for a chain strap:
1. Make sure that the hardware matches in color. Sometimes there’s a difference between light gold/antique gold/etc. The good thing about Celine is the hardware on their bags is often pretty minimal, so it’s not as likely to clash.
2. Depending on the size of the bag a chain strap may be very uncomfortable and dig into your shoulder. I know you mentioned a mini Celine bag. If you mean the size that Celine labels as “mini” they’re actually quite big and I don’t think a chain strap will work for that weight. But if you mean mini how I think the word is generally used then I think a chain is fine.
