You have probably heard about the old money aesthetic or old money fashion. Although it has been trending now, it is a classic style that is based on royalty and wealthy families of the 20th century. Forget about loud logos and tiktok fashion trends, this is quiet luxury at its finest.
The old money aesthetic is not about imitating the mega wealthy of today, is about a classic and elegant style that is timeless. Here on this video I’ll show you 8 amazing bags that are definitely old money, and are so understated you might not know.
These are bags that are very quiet and unknown to the masses, only those in the know can recognize these bags. I kept out of this list bags from Hermès and Chanel, not because they aren’t old money, but because at this point I believe they are recognizable even to those outside of the fashion world.

I wear popular brands but usually avoid loud logos. It’s not that i want to be seen as “old money” because in fact i’m not and i’m not gonna pretend that i am. Every brand, even the most popular ones, provide a good selection of more subtle bags which happened to be my aesthetic. So in my opinion, just wear whatever makes you the happiest without being pressured if it looks like old money or not.

Delvaux is the oldest luxury leather brand in the world. Sad that so many don’t know this incredible brand. This list is fantastic! Love all of these bags. I have a Valextra Iside and a Delvaux Brilliant. They’re so beautiful!!!! Also Mark Cross bags are super beautiful and old money. Mark Cross is the oldest US luxury leather brand and their quality is incredible!
I am actually happy that not many know about Delvaux. For selfish reasons, of course. It allows me to keep discreet and furthermore, I hate wearing anything that can be recognized.

In short: No loud logo's and hideous structures.
I love Delvaux. I was gifted one by a client 10 years ago and it stills intact but I don't have deep pockets lol if you want to invest in a good bag without espending a fortune opt for a structured bag in a neutral color without any detail but the clasp or the hardware. We all can follow the old money aesthetic without being rich!

Wealth is what you don’t see. Just because somebody has expensive stuff doesn’t mean they have money. People can get huge houses, luxury cars, expensive clothes, and vacations but it doesn’t mean you have money. People focus too much on what they can see. People also have credit card debt, huge car payments, and mortgages. You can’t see their bank statements and brokerage statements. Some people who look broke have tons of money and people that look rich are broke. If you spend money on something then you no longer have the money that you used to buy the thing. Wealth is the expensive purse or brand new car not purchased that you don’t see in many cases. Of course their are wealthy people that have nice things but spending money on stuff you don’t need destroys wealth.
I've always loved the Valextra Iside bag, and am happy not every fashion girl carries it.
I’m really into Moynat now. Got Réjane and now I want to add Gabrielle to my collections. Moynat blends well with all my Hermès Birkin and Kelly.
I love the look of the Valextra Iside! It looks like the Hermes Kelly, but for a lot less money! 💗👍😁

Launer is the ultimate old money hand bag. Her Majesty the Queen has been carrying them for years.

That Valextra Iside reminds me of the Kelly, but I like the Iside much more.

these bags are way more classic & elegant than the oversaturated Chanel flaps and birkin or kelly. Best part is likely you wont be put through the demeaning ‘hermes journey’.

Thank you for the interesting and informative video. I feel that so called 'old money' echelon of society, usually related to classical and traditional, often described as outdated sense of style, with accent on timeless, craftsmanship and quality would rarely opt for a bag they would consider vulgar or ridiculous. Tiny wallet bags or too large shoppers, shapeless bags, too obvious hardware, logos - are not something they'd usually choose. It's about highest standards provided in discreet manner by often rather small family owned manifactures with long tradition and history of providing leather goods to that particular echelon of society. Craftsmanship, quality, understated timeless aesthetic, practicality (defined shape, medium size) and heritage are key words for old money bags. Launer is one of their go to brands.

I come from a town with no luxary stores, but last week visiting an area with all elite names i looked around and was at once very drawn to the Salvatore Ferragamo Gancini. Beautiful bag❤️

I"m a new subscriber, I just ran across this video. Loved the content, it was so informative. I love handbags, it is one of my favorite accessories. I have 3 favorites from your list. The 1st is the Delvaux Tempete. The light pink with the gold leaf detail, is perfection. The 2nd is the Ferragamo Gancini top handle. The 3rd is the Giorgio Armani La Prima, in patent leather. It would make a great everyday bag.

Most valuable bags
I would probably add Asprey bags in this list. Their bags do have the brand Asprey written in small print in its clasps but the brand in itself is pretty much not mainstream. It is super expensive too.
There is nothing old money about these bags. They're subtle/wellmade/elegant/classic... but... luxury and expensive doesn't equal old money. OM would never spend that much money on a handbag (a horse, car, boat or real estate - yes)!

I feel as if I've seen these silhouettes before . The only bag I liked that was shown due to the detailing was the Ferragamo . However looking at the Flori PM Moynat on the website, I have to say it was a good looking bag . Im am not easily impressed by luxury bags if they don't have details I like even if they are the amount of a nice used luxury car .

Ferragamo hands down is the only one that stands out in this collection. The other's all look as if they could be purchased at Target.
Chanel has become the flashiest brand around. CC everywhere. No one wears their non-CC stuff anymore.

These purses are hideous. BTW LV, Chanel, Bottega, and etc have bags that do not have logos everywhere. No one wants old lady bags nowadays. I could careless about being old money or not. The point is I have money now and I can wear wtf I want with all the logos I want. I would rather buy a Celine, or Gucci 1947 bag, or Mansur Gavriel than this.
Bottega shops are always empty compare to others. I have money, but I will never be caught dead wearing Bottega. Only Chanel, Dior, Hermès and Moynat are deserve to be at my home.
@@Serena_9 I like Bottega. I have a couple of Bottega bags such as the padded cassette and the shoulder bags and a few pairs of shoes. I'm not a big Chanel fan. I have one Chanel bag and a couple pair of shoes. I love Dior have shoes and bags from them. I have a few Hermes bags not my favorite either but I'm going to get a Kelly 32 bag soon. I'm not a fan of the Birkin. I haven't saw a Moynat bag that didn't give me old lady vibes.

I beg to differ. These bags are classic and versatile. Worth the investment because they will avoid the trendiness of many of the other lux brands with their "popular today, trash tomorrow" cycle.
Neither myself nor my money cares about trends. I buy and wear what I want. Trends are for sheep. I have a collection of both new and vintage luxury bags. I have both logo and understated bags. I prefer quality over quantity.
Going for this aesthetic is just sad
Why would I want to look old money? I would be way more impressed by someone that gets rich on their own and not by inheritance. If you want to have nice things but be subtle, there are many other options.
