As AC Transit is slowly retiring a series of Van Hool buses, it is not rare anymore to see a Gillig Low Floor (transit fans call it a box as it looks rectangular) operating on the 7, but it is definitely not common to find a Beluga Electric Gillig going on Arlington Blvd, Downtown Berkeley and Ashby Ave!
This approx. 30mins ride takes you from Downtown Berkeley to Emeryville, in a Gillig EV that looks better than regular Gilligs, going through UC Berkeley, College Ave and Ashby Ave. The sound of this bus is amazing, quiet, and it accelerates fast! The electric motor whirls when taking off sounds pleasant too!
