This was amazing to rewatch -- 1994 was the year I was diagnosed HIV+ ,I was 30 years old .At that time it was still a death sentence and I was told to get my affairs in order. Seeing Tom Hanks win for best actor was great but watching Philadelphia just reminded me my time on Earth was nearing an end. But 2 years after in 1996 the protease inhibitor drugs came out and im still here 30 years later turning 60 soon. Back then I would never have believed I'd be here 30 years later -- sadly so many were not as lucky 😢😢😢
May you remain strong and healthy to see many, many more Oscars telecasts:) Thank you for sharing these powerful words.
Thank you Megan ----❤ --- for some reason I believe I will have many more healthy years ahead
Thank you Matt ❤ Yes I agree that your uncle and the thousands of others that were involved in the trials is what saved me --- I was offered going into trials when I was diagnosed but I chose not to because I had seen too many die quickly after being in the trials-- by tweeking the medications, sometimes they gave you too much and the patient would die-- that is how the medications that worked came about .
wow that is amazing, Im so happy for you!
God continues to save! I am glad you are still with us...
Those years 93, 94, and 95 were some of the very best years for cinema!
I perfectly agreed.
Najlepszy też dla obywateli USA, ponieważ USA okrada inne kraje.

1994 is. Shawshank redemption, Forrest Gump, pulp fiction, lion king. Those movies are always rated top 10
95 96 97 98 best hoorror movies... best wrestling matches... !!!!! im born in 88
Tom Hank’s acceptance speech is absolutely legendary. Wow.
This was my favorite Oscars ceremony. I still fondly remember watching it live with my family. The next day, the whole class was talking about it. It was a fun time.
Dont lie
Interesting, I feel the Oscars now is not what it was like back then. In 2022 Oscar slap everyone was talking about the Oscar the next day. In 1994, I was only 5 years old so don't remember much about award shows.
It was such an EVENT back then. A celebration of film, which is such a unifying medium. Now it’s lost a lot of that luster.
@@shane-irishwhat do you mean ?

The way that Anna Paquin acted at age 9 with a mastered ease of a Scottish accent (despite having a Kiwi accent at that time) is absolutely phenomenal. She really was destined for great acting.
Her NZ accent comes out though
Life was so much better in the 90’s!!
Nah
We were young😊
The movies and entertainment were all better in the 90s.
@@MyMelody5 indeed!

This show was filled with legends and iconic films.
I miss the 90s tbh
Jurassic Park, Schindlers List, Philadelphia, The Fugitive, Jacks Nightmare, what a wonderful year for movies.
Holly Hunter definitely deserved the Oscar this year. She should've won the Oscar the year when she was nominated for her performance in Broadcast News. Happy Birthday to her as today's her birthday!!
notice her reaction watching her own nomination clip. She watches her own performance, but looks away when Tom Cruise is shown, and then back again. It reveals a lot about their working relationship on The Firm. It wasnt good..she couldnt bear to look at him.
The moment between Whoopi Goldberg and Whitney Houston at 1:11:22 is golden.
How beautiful was Tom Hanks' speech. He completely understood the film's patriotism.
Perhaps he does but I don't seeing as America was happy to do nothing for the people AIDS was killing for so long.
The Oscars were so much better back then, the roles and movies more epic. It was just a lot classier
Legit every nomination was a masterclass in acting. Now actors just play off cgi. No true acting.
@@tjp2109 bullshit. CGI does not diminish acting. And if you think actors just play off of cgi, you don't know very much about filmmaking
38:27, 1:00:24, 2:18:04 Liam Neeson deserved Best Actor Oscar for "Schindler's List". 2:36:17 Best part was extremely handsome Harrison Ford presenting Best Picture Oscar to his friend, Steven Spielberg. 2:37:46 Spielberg's mom. 2:12:54, 2:13:34 In Memoriam - G Close does great job presenting. 2:14:23 R.i.p. young, River Phoenix; 2:14:51 John Candy; 2:15:15 Audrey Hepburn; 2:15:19 Brandon Lee. 2:13:34 Terms of Endearment theme, so beautiful. 45:39 Deborah Kerr so lovely. 1:07:35 Anna Paquin wins Oscar. Thx for upload.
When things were still magical....
2:40:16 - 2:41:03 Most amazing short speech ever! Not even a minute, yet it conveys such a clear message. RIP to all the 6M+ victims of the Holocaust.
Not to mention the tens of millions of others murdered by the Nazis.
RIP to the Palestinians who lost their lives in Gaza at the hands of the very ppl who lost their family during the Holocaust. We will never forget 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

I was born on this day. I was only a few hours old when this aired 😮😮😮😮 03-21-94 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Was thinking the same thing when I was watching the whole video, although I was born 9 dayd later on march 30th
How did Spielberg make Jurassic Park and Schindler’s List in the same year and they become iconic films? He doesn’t even phone it in on either as they both break barriers.
With these Oscars I won the grand prize of my Palmer video store Oscars 1994 contest. I got correct the majority of the categories but best supporting actress, nobody thought Anna Pequín’s win would happen. I got the letter one day before my birthday. The prize was a 7 day luxury cruise for 2 persons from NYC to the Bermuda Islands and it was an amazing experience, I was only 27 years old and I took my mother with me.
that is SO cool!!!
I was there that day. I met and congratulated Steven before he seated.
I was 29 and I thought that I waited 'so long all my life' to be there, then, and meeting Steven after watching the release of 'Schindler´s list' in London weeks before. Both, two of the best moments in my all life.
It was incredible to be among all of them, and specially to Deborah Kerr, who named
William Wyler in first place on stage. Wyler was the reason I became Film Historian and Filmmaker as well.
I will not forget Steven´s eyes thanking me in the moment I said to him finally:
''Good luck, Steven.'

When the Oscars were still respectable and fun to watch
The last decade of Oscars that felt authentic…when ANYTHING felt authentic 😢
exactly when anything at all felt authentic , life is completely generic carbon copy social media driven now , no individuality , no humanity , no sanity , just selfish greed , trends , tons of cg porn movies
and constant world problems.
20:58 Elijah Wood was so confident for his age
he had the ring in his pocket the whole time
poor child. So many perverts in that room.
I love the way they introduce the actors & actresses. So simple and precise.
I did Glenns wigs for Sunset Blvd when she was on Broadway at the Minskoff. She's SUCH a dedicated actress. I remember one night she was walking down the steps which were very steep, in a big dress that had a train and it got stuck on the steps. She couldnt move. She never broke character and she just stood there reciting her lines and just waiting for someone to un hook her. A stage hand saved the day.
Thank heavens Schindlers list won best picture . That final speech was overwhelming . Also I really liked Whoopi as host each time she hosted .
The violin solo from Schlinder’s List gives me the chills.
You can tell how respect Tom Hanks is by the standing ovation
I forgot about this music score. Oh the nostalgia. It really seemed like SOMETHING back then.
Well done Anna Paquin.. the 2nd youngest ever to receive academy award behind Tatum O'neill.. pretty good from an 11 year old from here in New Zealand.. first film and look at the competition she took out .. i think it still stands today??
30 years ago. I was 1 year old. Also crazy how almost all these actors look around my age today and only like 10% still look the same from back then to now. Cherish your youth, enjoy life.
I was born… a few years before you. Your words are correct, cherish your youth. You’re still younger than me, cherish your 30s, it’s the best decade.
thank you man, im from the 2000's so im almost 24, and have the chance to watch this full shows from the 90's with so good quality its a gift
Wow the In Memoriam segment showcased so many legends and young stars we lost too early!
I was 16 when this aired and I still remember so much of it to this day. Thank you for posting, such memories.
This was the first Oscar ceremony I remember vividly. I particularly loved how they presented the Original Score nominees this year. Thank you for this. 🤩👏🏽

I used to watch the oscars every year until the 2000's when it started going downhill. I loved when Billy Crystal hosted the show.
That's when life In general and almost all entertainment across the board started going downhill ,
movies and music quality for sure.

Dude, this quality is incredible! I hope that you can make more of these.
Wow, what a remarkable year for Hollywood. Not only for the talent being acknowledged in the previous year's film, but in the incredible loss of ability commemorated in the In Memoriam segment.
Whoopy was so elegant with the brown dress

Back when the Oscars and Hollywood were relevant and watched by families and millions of people across the globe.
Crazy to think no one had heard of Brad Pitt, no one had seen Friends, Cobain was still alive (just). What a time!
Brad had already been in Thelma and Louise
Not Brad, nor Angelina, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence, the fresh prince of Bel Air.... Oh I really miss those good old days.

Meaning what
@@vincentcerasoli5969Meaning the Oscars aren’t as special anymore?
@@tico5058 Which means what?
@digimon_edits still no answer
Correct. They are a woke shit show how. Nominations based on how many ppl of a certain color are cast in films, no longer based on true merit.
The whole pre-show announcements look and feel like a Universal Studios (theme park) sort of thing.
Thirty years ago this very day..My gawd the graphics and video quality back then. I was 8 years old watching this...maybe I watched it.
This was an amazing year for movies. Next year was even better.
1995 was good but dosen't come close to 1994 , It was one of the strongest film years of the 90's.

I am so lucky to have had the experience of attending the Academy Awards. There is no other event like it. The theater was full of electricity (and nervous fear). Oh and everyone is so SMALL.
You are so lucky ⭐️ I wonder what the air smelled like? Is it perfumed, like lots of rich people wearing aftershave, cologne and perfume? Or does it smell of farts? People accidentally fart when they are nervous, so maybe the air smelled really farty.
30 years! So much has changed yet many of the stars are still around

Jurassic Park did a clean sweep at the Oscars!

Best picture
Best Original score (this music it's a classic since the start)
WRITING (SCREENPLAY BASED ON MATERIAL PREVIOUSLY PRODUCED OR PUBLISHED)
Best Film Editing
Best Cinematography (it was used in the section of clasical cinematography movies of all times but not nominated...🤷🏻♂️)
Yes. I really like The Fugitive, but Jurassic Park should have been nominated instead of that one. I mean if they wanted to nominate a popular box office hit, that could have been Jurassic Park.
@@oscarfun100 All of the Best Picture nominees that year were box office hits: _The Fugitive,_ _In the Name of the Father,_ _The Piano,_ _The Remains of the Day,_ _Schindler's List._ In fact, _The Fugitive_ (#3) and _Schindler's List_ (#4) were even among the Top 10 grossers of 1993.

What I appreciate is how super talented people who could be extra if they wanted to and would be warranted...aren't. And how Hollywood is so over the top and filled with pick mes it's tiring. And maybe 1 out of 20 people in Hollywood actually deserve to show out that way. I didn't watch the 2024 Oscars in full just in clips. But look at this...in 1994 the muted colours, and understated glamour, no nails that look like daggers, or wigs to the floor with ass flying from one side to the other. I love Janet Jacksons outfit. She is damn famous by this time and so subtle and classy. I could go on but it wouldnt change anything. I just appreciate this time so much.
When award shows was about the movies I miss this thank you

Oscar's golden age.
They knew this was steven’s year by literally playing the E.T. theme in the opening
Schindler's List is a lifetime achievement movie ever! Cant believe Ralph Fiennes didn't get nominated in actor in supporting role. He is superb in this amazing film. Btw, oscars ceremony before are amazing.
He did get nominated. He lost to Tommy Lee Jones. Nobody knew him at that point. Al Gore was running for President. He was Tommy Lee's college roommate at Harvard. Tommy Lee stole the spotlight from Harrison Ford. Everything was going his way that year.
Yes He Did..Google is ur Friend 🥴
1:27:20 I remember when this aired, being completely enthralled by this dance performance.
yeah too bad they don't do that anymore ( I mean I get that they have to keep it on time but still)
The best year in cinema. Ever.
23:57 to watch the Jurassic Park theme being played through the Oscars stage as the winners made their way there is simply major 👍
1:27:20 I like the way Oscars combined jazz and ballet to perform a choreographic composition on the theme of the Firm
1:31:47 they performed the dance to the music of The Fugitive so brilliantly as dark as the tone of the thriller
I was born in 1996 so it's pretty cool to be able to watch this!!
Kurt Cobain watched The Piano the night before he passed away. I found that rather haunting

PLease post more of these from the late 90's if you have them. Excellent!
Nowadays, people's attentions are divided even more with like Netflix, Instagram & UA-cam so cinema movies has lost its significance compared to its olden days
I remember my first Oscar for best actor good ol days
Janet Jackson was so beautiful and stunning at that time, great artist, great song Again and great movie Poetic Justice. Well deserved her Oscar nomination.
Everything seems so much more special back then. I think it's because now we know so much about our celebrities. back then it was more of a mystery and of course no internet
Crazy this is almost exactly 1 months before I was born on April 18th 1994!
I love the small BTS snippets for all the visual effects nominees! I wish they still did that
They did liam neeson so dirty. His performance was with distance one of the best performances in a movie ever and then they gave the Oscar to tom hanks for a okay job

Forrest Gump on a technical level is much harder to nail than Liam Neeson performance let’s be honest
You got that backwards. Tom Hanks definitely deserved the award and Philadelphia should’ve at least been nominated for Best Picture.
@@jl4224 Tom Hanks was nominated for Forrest Gump the following year; he was nominated for Philadelphia against Liam Neeson.
