looks like ill be sticking with my Uniden R7 for awhile.
isnt the uniden the r3 comparable to the r7?
Dino S You’d be a lot better off buying the R3 over this overpriced joke.
@@SuperDodoe I have the R3 as backup to R7.
Yes, it's comparable.
Uniden R7 is a beast. Has been out for a little over a year so the bugs are sorted and they are backed up by a strong company PS little fun fact scanners and a lot of police equipment are made by uniden 😉
I just saved $800. Thank you Vortex!
What did I say when they announced that detector. Just another detector from Cedar Electronics. They rushed it before Theia. They basically put an LNA in an Escort MAX 360c. The future firmware won't do anything to state their claim of double the range as the Redline EX. And at $749, they will have to lower the price in < 6 months. With RDs like the R7 around $400 and the V1G2 at $500, why would anyone pay $750 for an RD that's not even quite, as Escort admitted to BSM. At least Radenso is educating us with THEIA platform and it's upgradeability of a platform to future proof it to demand a higher price tag. Escort just diminished their Max 360c resell value with its sub-par performance of their Redline 360c.
Nothing surprises me from Escort anymore. Marketing is where they excel at!
@@GSPirosaki lol, Good catch. Quiet!
Thanks for the review. I've been waiting for your review before I dropped the hammer on the REDLINE 360c; you've just saved me 300 bucks! V1 GEN 2 is my choice!
Now I feel way better knowing I took delivery of my V1G2 yesterday. I seriously considered waiting to see this first but couldn’t wait. Thanks for all the testing you do!
Ironically, dis video sold me on da V1 Gen 2 🏁🏁🏁
@GEN5 wuz holding out for Theia but after seeing dis, gonna pick me up a V1 Gen 2
Running v1g2 for 2 weeks now and absolutely love it and with the jbv1 app wow awesome people talk highly on the r7 but as u can see gen 2 out performs in some cases , get it you'll be glad and money well spend !!!
Oh , thanks for the hard work on making this vid , I’m glad to say we truly have an unbiased and professional test for testing radar detectors , Vortex FTW !
Thank you for your work and time all the comparison!! Just got my V1Gen2 I love it
Vortex, I really appreciate you. Escort Seems to be lost. I am glad I waited ordering the Redline. I will now wait for Theia
I agree they lost it after the 8500 imo.
Thank you for saving me from upgrading from my 360C Max at this time. Seems like Redline C is still a work in progress. Keep the great videos coming. Your presentation, testing and detailed anaylsis are uncommon and appreciated.
All the more happy I am with the V1G2 now. Thanks
Great job Ariel. Your hard work is clearly demonstrated!!
Excellent review. I love how you set the expectation and things to look for when introducing short clips of performance.
Glad to hear that was helpful :)
I can't wait for Theia
Joshua Xiong How? Have you visited the Radenso UA-cam channel lately?
Outstanding review. I really appreciate the time it must take you to do these. Thank you very much. Always a great job.
I really wanted to like the Redline 360.. Dang..
Same here,I guess its between the R7 and the Valentine
Looks like I’m getting the uniden R7
me too
I just got one. Best Buy has 12 month 0% financing if you got a Best Buy card. Paid $473 after taxes in CA. Why pay up front when you can take advantage of 1 year interest free?!? No brainer!
They are $350 on eBay
Update on the $350 r7 on eBay they are brand new they come with everything including the box
I have the r7 and max360 I run them together the r7 has a lot of false alarm's and the max360 dos not but when thair is a cop the max360 is very late when the r7 cashed the signal from 2 or 3 miles away I just wish the r7 had the software the max360 had for bsm filtering
Thanks for everything you do. I follow your advice very seriously and purchase my detectors on your testing!!!!!
Thank you for all your hard work! Your videos always give me a great insight on my current and potential detectors I might purchase in the future.
Nice work as usual Vortex! I’ll be passing for now on the new Redline 360c. Very much appreciate you pal. Thanks!!
Wow, I haven't bought a new Radar Detector from Escort since the first redline. I guess my business will be going to their competitors.
I knew redline 360c was going to be a disappointment all along and can’t wait for the upcoming Theia by Radenso.
Me also. Once again Escort is in a PR mess.
@@Joshuaxiong2 What makes it worse, is that they lied about having AI.
Yes sir. Overpriced piece of shit
Glad I have my R7
Tony C I have the R7 for about a year. Definitely R7 is the way to go. Better price and a better all in one Package
The Uniden has been good to me.
I am also staying with R7. Radenso we are watching😀
Thanks for testing the unit for us.
i was actually excited to upgrade my 9500ix to the redline 360c , but then i saw this. thank you
Thanks for all your work on this testing! Waiting on Theia with bated anticipation.
Agreed. It has me wondering if they rushed this to market because of Theia...
@@VortexRadar Makes sense especially if they're using the "AI assisted" terminology. Sounds like they're trying to saturate the market with this wording to confuse consumers when Theia does finally come out. Radenso better make sure they have some good patents on their technology so Escort doesn't try any other tricks, or sue.
Love how you are not loyal to one and we can get a open honest review of all these detectors !!!! amazing job as always Vortex
Thanks for this. I was thinking about upgrading to the redline 360c from my R3. Now I think I'll just go to the R7 or V1g2. Hopefully theia comes out before I make the decision.
Excellent, professional, unbiased review/test video.
V1 gen 2, Mike has done his homework..
I agree , I have the original V1 since 2005 ,it’s so reliable but the one thing killing it is no MRCD or red light warnings and speed warning , I live in NY and MRCD is every where Waze only has a couple in there I run both , I found so many speed traps (MRCD) with the R7 it’s crazy
To ; @@Antimatter. You and I have the same complaint about the V1, no MRCD /MRCT detection. I was hoping the Gen 2 would have it, but it does not. I'm thinking about waiting for Radenso's Theia. Not sure what to do.?? I am running the original V1 at this time.
Jack Capone the V1 was a beast and it earned its throne but let’s be honest they got lazy and complacent and no matter how you slice it or what excuses they give about how hard it is, it suddenly became worth trying when they were rendered obsolete, and they’re rusty to the extent it’s quite clear they haven’t done any serious development in ages. The only credit I’ll give them is that they didn’t try to call it a V2 or something revolutionary.
Jack Capone I have the R7 now it is a great detector you really can’t go wrong with it , If Thea is that good and revolutionary and Vortex tests prove it I will upgrade to that , depending on your budget I’m sure it’s going to be very expensive , the R7 is just as good if not better than other detectors for half the price
Agreed. Mike is solid and it's American engineering. Let's keep emailing Valentine to keep pressure on MRCD.
Uniden just keeps winning in my opinion. For the price they are the best bang for the buck (R7/R3).
Wow! That detector is horrendous! Escort should be embarrassed and shut down. All they do is lie. Bye bye escort. 👋. Hello Theia! Glad my R7 made top 3 every time. The police should pay you lol 😂 or test with you 🚨. Good work Vortex 👍. My favorite line "it's just as bad as radar detectors that don't even have a rear antenna" haha 🤦♂️
As Vortex says at the 50 second mark, "..we're here to look at range…"
Your comment about the redline being horrendous is out of line. Other than rear detection which the redline did not do well the redline outperformed the R7 in distance on 33.8, 34.7 and 35.5 (it smoked the R7 on 35.5). Based on the testing results (other than rear detection) the new redline outperforms the R7 and has better filtering. The Redline beat the R7 on all three bands of KA. Couple that with better BSM filtering and I'll take the redline over the R7 anytime. So if the redline is horrendous then the R7 'sucks'. Escort will fix the rampup and arrows with a software release but it already outperforms the R7 on front radar. So you can keep your false alarms and always have your foot on the break reacting to them.
Lots of V1 gen 1s still out there, would love to see it still on the charts but great job keep making videos
R7 still best bang for the buck , hanging in there with the big boyz with extra features some detectors don’t even have 🤙
Thanks for the thorough review!
@Vortex Radar - Excellent as always
Excellent video Vortex. I’ll stick with my R3 until Thea is released.
Thanks for the testing.
The build quality is pretty nice on this unit. The display is very good, the sound quality excellent. These are good observations and show that the launch is off to a bumpy start. Escort would be really smart to get these issues resolved by firmware ASAP! This is not good press for a new product. This should have all been worked out prior to launch, but now that they chose to launch, they had better fix quickly.
Truly informative with great presentation.
Awesome video! Thank you for this review!!!
Great video... some excellent data collection to say the least!
Almost purchased this today until I seen this.
Thanks!!
You're welcome! You should probably check out some of the followup videos next where they fix these issues: ua-cam.com/video/U3AMXbZ8a7Q/v-deo.html
and the updated test results: ua-cam.com/video/LsnTG18Uc-g/v-deo.html
Glad I just pulled the trigger on the Redline 360 🤥. Hopefully the updates help.
it's great
These results almost make it seem like the rear antenna on the new Redline is completely inoperable.
Rear Antenna has left the chat.
@@ultipriv2396 Rear Antenna never found the chat to begin with. This is embarrassing.
Have the redline 360 and have had none of those problems tha he showed with it. Has saved me countless times from a ticket. Works great.
yeah its awesome
Uniden R7 does not disappoint. Earlier today there was a police radaring way ahead in a hilly wide open road. Had Ka pop and slowed down... sure enough, I saw him on the opposite side of the road. Plus, it is the lowest priced radar compared to Escort 360 and Redline and the valentine.
Great job.
Quelle Surprise. It is great to see the Original Redline pop up where it does :D
Based on features, functions, quality, reliability, they should sell this at $250.
Apache I think even $250 is too much for this poor performance. $120 is what it’s worth to me.
One thing is fo sho, it's rite up dare wit da batman detector 🦇
I got my trusty R1 for $180 refurbished. This thing isn't anywhere as good as the R1 even with arrows and GPS... Reliability is the most important thing!! All it takes is one slip up on the detector's end and you're in trouble.
More like $100
I've been subbed for years now, your the main reason i purchased the uniden r3..i love the detector but would love to see a comparison of the Valentine v1,uniden r3 to the newer detectors in 2020..i honestly have never updated the original software but I'll updating when i find a computer to use soon
Been using the original Redline for 8 years. Glad to see it is still getting compared. Waiting for Rodenso to release their flagship. R7 is also good my father has it.
thanks for providing link to data
Good stuff thanks for making this video
Wow, glad I held off buying it. I came close to hitting that buy button. Again, waiting for Theia and I'll have to put up with my Max 360c for now.
Love your reviews. You're like the V1 of detector reviews. That said, it would be great if you could use a gen 1 V1 as a baseline.on reviews.
at 5:29 it is silent until it PASSES the radar car! What the heck? Then it goes full blast after you passed the car. Seems like it is on a 2 second delay. That is terrible.
-edit-- I'd rather have my DFR7 in that scenario.
Thank you for testing. Now we dont have to upgrade and continue to wait for Theia
I did not see that coming! My V1G2 looks better by the test.
For real...
the Arrows and delay in ramp up has killed it for me, they said I could return it July, so we will see if they fix this by then? If not back it goes. Good job as always on review!
waiting for them to fix problems on a 750.00 detector is like bailing water with a spoon on the titanic. They charged a premium price for a sub par product, go get your money back asap.
Ditto for me!
Thanks You Saved me some Money. Going to keep my Max.
Wow the V1 Gen 2 is a beast!
Dear Vortex, I wanna thank you for all the hard work you did in this testing. Can you please explain if Escort products used hwy, auto,or city?Did R7 run in Hwy,adv or city? was v1 gen 2 in A,l,L mode? Why did the remote escort due so badly in 34.7 front test?
I think this video was less about the new redline, and more about how the V1 gen 2 has taken back the long distance crown. Absolutely bonkers performance from The Valentine team.
Also you better watch out vortex, you said some critical comments about escort you might get banned off their fourms. Lol.
R7 is $350 refurbished ON eBay. Looks hard to beat. Been happy with my R3 so far but think the R7 is gonna be coming soon.
Vortex radars test sure does make the case for the V1 Gen 2, The results show the V1G2 is the way to go if you want the best radar & best price as well for a trustworthy radar, as well as a couple of the others. I’ve always bought Escort for decades , but after this I’m thinking I’m a Valentine Customer, & after seeing how well it done here against Escorts so called “Flagship” radar,. Also this test would be a great testimony for Valentine Radars, and a couple other companies as well, how terrible for Escort in my opinion. Overpriced for sure, & unworthy of the title “ Flagship”.Vortex Radars has helped me choose Dash-cams and Radars as well, grateful for the test videos, thanks pal.
I don't think you need to do a second review video till the basics are sorted out. Awful ramp up warning makes this practically useless. Good review.
Yea not worth it when you compare the price to the r7. Theia will be what I will be looking forward to! Thanks for this video
I have the r7 and max360 I run them together the r7 has a lot of false alarm's and the max360 dos not but when thair is a cop the max360 is very late when the r7 cashed the signal from 2 or 3 miles away I just wish the r7 had the software the max360 had for bsm filtering
Escort just continues to disappoint! Traded in my Max 360c for a Uniden R7!
Even if the new FW fixes some of the issues, it is still not worth the extra $200-300 more than a R7 or a V1 G2.
I am happy I bought the v1 G2.
Yes it is.
Thanks Vortex Radars for this very eye opening test. Is it possible a firmware could make this radar preform more like the advertised results? Or is that unlikely? I would be interested in Vortex Radars option. It seems to me that in trying to make a Radar that filters out trash, they also made one that filters out the signals that matter the most.
As expected from Escort. I'll keep my R7.
Looks like their R&D cost cutting measures work- they just have their customers doing the beta testing for them. And even to pay for return shipping for them as well. Lol
Thank you doing these tests, your awesome. Do you think the issues with the Redline360C can be fixed with software updates?
That’s exactly how my V1G2 ramps up and down!
What was Escort thinking? Putting out a device this poor and POSSIBLY working out the bugs later? I would be enraged if I spent hundreds of dollars on a device that doesn’t meet expectations and wasn’t thoroughly vetted before going on sale.
They'll update the detector to work properly... just wait. I still bought it.
O Good luck!
I mean, V1 did the same thing!
@@user-cv9oi8vr9i Has it improved?
I own all the big guns, R3, R7, V1 Gen 2, Escort 360C, and the Redline 360C. Honestly, the V1 Gen 2 has the best interface and range, especially with the V1 Driver app running! Hands down in my opinion. I’ve never been in area with cameras with the V1 Gen 2, Vortex remind me if the V1 Gen 2 alerts for cameras and MRCD??? I can’t remember...
The V1 Gen2 isn’t set up for MRCD detection unfortunately
Is the v1 gen 2 worth buying
How is the BSM and other false filtering on the V1g2? You have a video on that? That looked more impressive then the others.
I bought another R7..
Me too
R7 all the way I just saw the marketing for the redline started look into it and figured I would do a little research to see this review glad I did.. sticking with my R7
I think you should test another one - I mean your first V1G2 blew up so its only fair! 😀😀😀
lol, well I’ve heard a bunch of reports of other owners saying they’ve seen the exact same thing so I don’t think it’s an issue with just my unit...
Did your V1G2 get better after repair? I seem to remember your initial test had it neck and neck with the R7 on Ka. Now it's outperforming it. Is that little amount of variability able to be accounted for by different test days/conditions?
Ill stick with R7 for a very long long time, i have to stop spending money that im already saving form not getting tickets and stick with one radar, not spend my saved $$ on newer (and possibly) worse Radars, Keep up the great work though Vortex, happy to text here in NZ if needed
By the way, Red light cameras on R7 comes up as MCRD and even on city mode will detect from over 1km away. In city mode approx 1.2km away (i pass one every day)
Wow! Radenso has got some real competition for their as-yet-unreleased Theia with the new V1. Assuming they were benchmarking the R7.
Mike is conservative on what he implements and designs, but his implementation is usually the best. MRCD please Mike and I'm on board. I'd rather Valentine over the excellent R7.
I still bought this detector, there will be updates fixing all of the issues surrounding this. Escort won't just ignore everybody's complaints.
thanks for another great video. Looks like the Radenso pro m was the weakest detector. As I get ready to purchase my first detector, should I hold out for the Theia. I think this video pretty much rules out the Redline 360c for me. Any thoughts?
I bought the Redline 360c and I noticed the arrow issue. I regret my purchase, should have waited for V1Gen2 to be back in stock. I was going to buy that one first until I fell for all the Hype from Escort, I thought it was going to be better.
It is a piece of junk. Escort needs to make this right.
*Escort has entered the chat *
Just bought the redline 360c. Was going to trade in my max360c but now having second throughs. The valentine performed amazing. I have the CI built in on one of my cars and love it. However I use these on rentals. Might wait till an update comes in or just return it. Pretty bad
I think they didn’t install regular rear antenna. But, perhaps, put their new patented “posterior “ antenna on it.
What brand is your awesome shirt with the squirrel?
haha that’s Arturo Calle, a Colombian brand :)
I live in Chicago and bought the redline 360c. I am disappointed with the performance as you have listed in the video. I think I will return this and go with the R7 or Radenso Pro M with their Multa radar because there are a lot of those in Chicago. What do you guys think?
I feel like those who have purchased the redline 360 c are no more than beta testers. Ever heard the sayings that tells you not to buy a car the first year it is made? Escort now knows the problems and will inevitably release a firmware update. Those of you saying you will cling to your R7 should ask your self if you truthfully need the range that it provides. Range is a neat party trick but in practice, detectors with reduced range give ample warning. I’ll stick with the features that Escort provides (gps lockout) over a detector that slows me down way to far in advance for a speed sign. As for the test... Yes I know that you did the test how the detector arrived but as I stated before, everyone knows that early software sucks. You knew that an update is coming but still proceeded to perform he test. This is like a reviewer saying that a new iPhone sucks when a new iOS is released even though everyone knows that Apple will release a bug fix in a couple of days. Those of you denouncing this detector so quickly must have short memories because I can remember earlier this year when everyone’s V1 Gen2 died. If I had a drive planed and my detector died, I’d be SOL. If my detector did not ramp up properly, I’d make do with it.
I was so excited about this! Know they will update the firmware and improve it
Go to Vegas if you like to gamble.
YAAAASSSSSSSS. Need to cancel my RL360 Order
Yeah, what a joke. They need to roll some heads.
V1 Gen 2 for the win!!
Has the "ramp-up" been improved with software updates?
8:46 “you guys wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?”
🤣
