Here’s the latest status of updates and fixes.
Genesis II detection: They're working on it
Rampup: Update coming soon
WiFi: Update coming soon
That Genesis II is spooky
Can you explain how to update the firmware over Wi-Fi. I connected to Wi-Fi and it auto updated the database but won’t update firm ware. I’m on 1.0.
I went to the advanced menu and when I see auto update firmware. What’s next. Every button I pressed did not select it. Thank you.
@@no1g8tor08 I just updated firmware to 1.2 using the Detector Tools Pro app for PC over USB. That's what Escort recommends.
That delay is absolutely horrible though! 3 seconds plus? No point in even having it..... My 360C performs way better than that i would have been smoked many times with a delay that long. Has this been fixed? Can't decide on upgrading rn I'm leaning towards the redline or the cam vs these unknown mark II's. I gotta find some more recent tests i guess.
@@northrollingacres how is it now with the latest update? Is it still a lemon or were they able to fix it with firmware updates since this video from a year ago? Everything I'm seeing is still bad it seems.
Cool to see Escort working with you on the issues vs. ghosting ya.
Agreed. The ultimate goal is for all of us to have the best countermeasures possible. :)
Thanks Vortex for another awesome review. Just the right amount of content and making it clear for the viewers and Escort on the current issues and (currently) false claims. At the time of me watching, I see Firmware 1.1 is released. It is great Escort listens to you. Keep up the great work.
Did this fix the Wi-Fi?
Thank you Vortex! You are right on with your views. I watch your updates and I agree with your thoughts.
Great review. I appreciate the honesty. I run a Redline 360c in one car and an R3 in another. Like and trust them both.
Excellent review brother! DJ Froggy thanks you as always. I agree that after a few firmware updates, this could be the quietest and best performing Escort detector to date.
Too bad being the best Escort detector is like being the best Rocky Mountain Radar detector now...just blown away by how bad this thing is.
A three to seven second response time to radar is simply unacceptable from a high end radar detector such as this. You can cover a whole lot of ground in a car in that amount of time closing the distance to the kill zone with the police. The Unidens have an acceptable response time where a person could hit the brakes and save themselves from getting a ticket. Escort has some work to do with all their detectors. I stopped buying Escort detectors after Uniden released the first R1/R3. The R1 saved me many times so I upgraded to the R4 and so far it has outperformed my R1. Thanks for your reviews!!
great in depth info as usual, how would this unit fare against FMCW photo radar units such as the mesta fusions and similar pole mounted ones , im concerned that the logic of most US built units just filters out FMCW as part of the BSM filtering process, also in terms of temilnoly is MRCD/CT the same thing as FMCW, if thats the case , whats the best player in this category ( portable units )for FMCWs from your experience?
I have learned a lot from your videos,. I do a lot of driving in Brooklyn, NYC and Queens. I gat about 2 to 5 camera tickets a month mostly school and few red light. So my main concern are these camera tickets. I'm thinking of purchasing the ESCORT Max 360c MK2. What is the best at detecting these red light/speeding camera traps? Thanks in advance Pat.
Excellent review and have been waiting your extensive review. I like the looks of the Redline 360c over the Mark II and struggling over the two to purchase. 5 GHZ is no biggie to me. Would love to see a review between the two!! Thank you for the long indepth reviews! Tim From Spokane WA.
The main benefit that the Redline 360c has over the Max360c Mk II is that the Redline is Stealth and RDD immune. The Redline also has slightly more range but that will be tested soon.
I really want to buy the mkii, bc it looks the coolest but I guess I will go with the R8. Thank you for putting this information out there.
Same, I have the R7 definitely upgrading to the R8 when I'm ready. The R7 has been very reliable.
What about false alerts in general, aside from other vehicles is it still one of the quietest? Like my dad stopped using detectors ages ago because he couldn’t learn a ton of noises and it became useless because he never knew what was happening or whether it was a cop sound or something else. What’s the best option for someone like him that still had great performance? He is in New Orleans Louisiana and mostly driving locally and interstate in Louisiana/missisippi…With occasional road trips to florida or northern Tennessee
Would like to see a review with the 360c, 360c mark 2 and the redline 360c.
wow, that reactivity is SCARY. Sign me up for the R8
Excellent review and explanation as ALWAYS.
It really made me aware of all the false alerts I have been getting when you mentioned all those vehicles.
After finding your channel last year, I purchased both a Max 360C in April 2021 for $876.91 CDN delivered to my door and later, a Redline 360C when it came out (May 2021)
I am currently using the Max360C on my motorcycle with TPX Laser Jammers (2 front and 1 rear) while I use the Redline 360C in my truck.
I initially used the Max 360C in my truck but I got tired of unplugging the Max 360C from my truck to put it on my motorbike so I bought the Redline 360C because of it's supposedly better range than the Max 360C.
I am considering getting another Redline 360C for my motorbike but with our crappy CDN dollar right now, I'm looking at a cost of $1,090 CDN to purchase the Redline 360C again.
Also Escort won't ship it to Canada so last time when I ordered the Redline 360C, I had to get it shipped to my USA address at the border and it cost me another $94 CDN to get it picked up.
So after inputting my order a few minutes ago, I'm looking at about $1,200 to get the Redline 360C to my door.
The Redline 360C is now $50 USD more today ($799.95 USD) than it was in May of 2021.
I suppose I can unplug my Redline 360C from my truck quite a few times for $1,200 or maybe I will just use the Redline 360C on the motorbike and use Max360C in the truck in the summer then switch them around in the fall when I don't ride motorbike as much.
I know you mentioned you will be testing the Redline 360C and Max360C and Max360c Mark 2 head to head in an upcoming video but was wondering with what you already know, would you choose to purchase another Redline 360C over the Max360C (NOT the Max360 Mark 2)?
Or do you think the performance difference (range) is so drastically different between the 3 units that the Redline 360C has the significantly better performance with longer range and stealth?
Between the two I vote for the Redline 360c over the Max 360c for the longer range and improved BSM filtering, plus no lockup issues. The RDD immunity is a bonus.
2 questions, is the redline better then this? Would you still recommend the r8 over escort? Trying to decide between redline and uniden r8. I live in michigan so no redlight cameras but i believe we have k bands.
I finally got my hands on one of these and when I got it the ka band was turned off which is strange as with my previous radar I found about 90% of time the police use ka. As well when I turned it on most of the bands in ka were turned off anynidea why?
Well, I’m on my second mk11, returned the first one to escort for the wi fi issues. Bought my second one at Best Buy and as of your review I’m past my 15 day return window, but at least this one does better with the wi fi issues. Hopefully, some of the other issues will be fixed with updated firmware.
I’ve been seeing improved WiFi this week, but not every time or on every drive. I wonder if they’ve been working on this recently.
At that price I think it's R8 for the win. Thank you for the fine and informative video.
Yeah if Escort fixes these issues I think the Max would be a better choice, but at this point I’m still leaning Uniden.
Hi, can you do a update on the different anti camera photo license plate protection. Thanks
Escort has to know this. They should be testing these before putting them out and for it to not even alert on some things is unacceptable.
How about a comparison of this detector with the Uniden R8, since they are at the same price point.
Running the original Max 360, does the new hardware in the MKII make a big enough difference to upgrade?
So you are actually sending your Decatur radar to them so that they can test? does this mean they might actually try to make some improvements?? Honestly, I love my red line 360c it does not False a lot. And I really don’t mind the slow Keyvan, because where I live in Florida there’s not a ton of K band at all really. Also, another great video. Always appreciate your hard work and testing that you put into this. very informative!
Yep already mailed it out.
Do you have recommended setting on this MK II in California
Uniden R8....done
I have some questions I just bought a mkii 3days ago it’s my first rador detector and I’ve been trying to research it but honestly I can’t understand it at all it keeps showing pop alert and also when there’s a ka alert it alerts on each direction instead of just showing me one direction of where it’s coming from . I’m not sure what settings I should put on or off I just want it for 1 reason the police radar guns idk if you could possibly make a video just explaining certain settings you should have it on and basically how to work the device because I’m super lost . I appreciate it thank you !
KA vs Segmented. What is the performance difference if any on this new unit. To be on the safe side should I use KA SW?
Maybe one day I'll buy a $600 detector, but in the meantime, I'm still Rollin with my $200 DFR9 new out of box thanks to your discount VORTEX 🙂👍
Don't buy any escort detector if I/O k band is used in your area! Those misses/delays can be deadly
No doubt, our County Sheriff Dept uses K band exclusively. Uniden for me!
Yep, in my area if your detector can't pickup K band you're better off saving that money for the tickets you are going to get.
How do you find out what band your area uses?
My experience with escorts, is they are great for 2 years, as soon as the warranty is up, they break. I did this for 6 years. Always the same thing. Valentine one has lasted 15 years and still going strong. Fast any reliable. I have the gen 1. Don’t know about the new ones
I didnt have any issues myself with the escorts but I switched from a 9500ix to a V1 and used the V1 for 7 years no problems then switched all my cars to the R7 and have been really happy with it. I might upgrade to the R8 in the future.
So which do u think is better? The original 360c or the MKII
I had a Redline and sent it back. If that was their best then I doubt this would be any better
Wish heard this prior to buying MK II
fr same
Would you recommend the c Mark II or the R7 Uniden ?
WOW, Escort really needs to address their reactivity. Ever since the Max series later firmware they started slowing detection time down to counter false BSMs. I mean it's a cheap easy trick to do, and it works, but leaves you wide open for quick trigger, and automated instant on's.
Red line 360 stil does a great job 👍
I recently switched to Uniden from Escort for a number of reasons. I have a 9500iX and a Max360. I can no longer connect the 9500iX to the latest version of the computer software, as the detector is not seen. The Max360 connects and I can update the firmware, but cannot save, load, or update my detector settings without an annual subscription, which is ridiculous. The Max360 display has also dimmed to the point of barely being visible during the day. Hearing about the latest issues with Escort, I have no interest in going back to them. Let’s see how Uniden fares.
Just about this detector today. Looks like this review is a year old, what was the outcome with Escort ??
Was the max 360 mkii good choise ?
To imply a problem might be fixed in the future, is a hope I do not share. Such a detector should be rated as "unacceptable". They are using you as a beta tester and obviously the company has poor initial engineering and even poorer testing prior to releasing their product
Conpletely agreed. This is typically bad reviews
@@krimke881I'm not sure I completely understand your remark. I simply feel this is a BAD product that should not have been released and our friend is being used, and I really mean USED as their beta tester. Vortex is a fine reviewer but is perhaps a bit more forgiving than is warranted.
This is Escort is disappointing. Seems like this was run through final test too fast.
As always, great review. I hope the folks at Escort step up quickly.
I didn’t the the impression Vortex had much faith it would be fixed and I thought he said it was risky to buy something based on the hope of future enhancements. It’s been a couple of days, so maybe I’ll have to watch again.
Yea. But at least they DID fix it. But I of course agree, and wouldnt buy something UNTIL it is fixed!
I’m looking at this or the max3, do you have an updated video comparing the two?
Those are very different detectors. I wouldn’t do a dedicated direct comparison of the two. This one has longer range, arrows, and WiFi.
If I could just have Uniden R8 performance with RL360c build quality
I'd rather have my R7 than anything by Escort. Who cares about "build quality" if the stupid thing doesn't work. It has _one job_ and can't even do that right. If it was handmade from gold/palladium/unobtainium by master Swiss craftsman it would still be junk.
If you have legitimate K band threats- i.e. you live in PA, I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t choose a Uniden detector. I can’t trust Escort or Valentine with K.
DS1 another great option
I just use Theia
@@Fee.1 ghostware
If Uniden would add a freaking 24.160 filter/notch/reduced sensitivity setting/etc it would be amazing. I know they could but for some reason refuse to do it. It's my only gripe with Uniden. The other is increasing the auto lockout radius. Simple thing, won't do it. Maybe they are trying to keep the competition alive or something? Who knows.
Ariel: “escort advertised lightning fast performance, I was cautiously optimistic but I wanted to test their claims. After assembling a 3 kW tesla coil connected via wireless remote you can see that in Reality no fewer than 13 lightning strikes can be discharged before the Escort responds.
Just to cover all bases, I drove to Florida and did some testing during hurricane IAN. Even the longest lightning strike was 69,420 milliseconds faster than the best case response time for the Escort. In conclusion, escort has really overpromised and underdelivered here. hopefully they collaborate and do some testing with lightning and either update their firmware or within the “faster than lightning” claims. Back to you In the studio, Zeus.”
I'm returning my MK2 to best buy tomorrow. I'm going to exchange it for the Uniden R8.
worth it?
Does Escort look at your videos and commentary? They should because it would definitely help to improve their product. IJS
Really informative video. At 12:35 you're passing a school bus stopped in the opposing lane with red lights flashing...is that legal where you live?
Yeah it’s a good question and I had to look it up this school year because people kept doing it differently. Usually you do have to stop of course, but there are exceptions when there’s a median or turn lane between you and a bus going the opposite direction.
www.king5.com/article/traffic/traffic-news/washington-state-school-bus-traffic-laws/281-54609ead-3cd4-4bc9-a2c1-15b590d7048e
It admittedly still feels weird going, regardless of the law, heh.
So it looks like my V1G2 will be staying a while longer. If only they would address the March 22 update for KA falses…
Has any updates improved these beginning issues?
There’s been some updates, but the performance is still lacking compared to the Uniden and Valentine options.
I'm curious... if you have a Mazda, Honda or GM vehicle that is prone to falses, will that cause falses to a detector if it is in one of those vehicles?
Sometimes yes
Thanks for the tests and review! However, at $700, I don’t see the value outweighing the cost in this detector.
Escort: no you don’t understand we meant faster than lightning in a way that nobody can actually experience, except on a spec sheet or in our advertisements
Any word on if the K band issue has been fixed ?? They run a lot of K band around me
Improved, but not fixed entirely
Hello. Excellent and very informative video. I was just wondering if this could be used on a motorcycle?? Thank you an thank you for your timely response
I have a lot of problems with the application, it disconnects very often. I'm using it in a Samsung app. I want to change it to the iPhone app with the application but it does not connect with my Escort MllC. Any recommendation
Try deleting it from your Android account and then readding it from your iPhone. I’ve noticed Drive Smarter doesn’t do a good job sharing detectors across multiple phones.
Vortex, my max 360c is not working, power no power I have 2 smart cord , I don’t know if smart cord or the max 360c broken?
Sorry to hear that. What did Escort’s customer service say when your reached out to them?
Same delay bugs at the r360c?
Yeah but worse
So did they fix all these problems now? Would you recommend it???
It’s better now than it was at launch, for sure.
So R8 is better than MK II? I am buying either one soon in California
Thanks
Which will you suggest?
When will you test the Escort 360c MKII with new firmware?
After the holidays when the city thaws and I get my equipment back from Escort :)

@@VortexRadar Thanks and have a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...your the best.
Have they made any improvements to your concerns recently? Wanting to buy this for Amazon’s Big Deal currently going on
Improvements yes. Still a bit more to go, but it’s better now than before.
Since its on sale today for $550 would you buy it over the older R7@$500(not on sale) and maybe the R8@$700? @@VortexRadar
I could see people choosing it because it does a better job of handling false alerts. The Unidens are chattier. The WiFi component is just a bonus if you have WiFi in your car.
I haven’t had a wifi connectivity issue in the few weeks I’ve had it. I do have a question though, as this is my first radar detector I’ve ever had. I’ve passed a few cops, that were driving and didn’t get an alert. I figured most cops had their radar on even while they’re driving. I’ve went by 1 moving that alerted, but none of the others have. Do most cops not ride down the road with their radar on? I know several people that got tickets from passing cops going in the opposite direction of them. I haven’t passed any speed traps yet. It does alert me to the speed device my local sheriff department has out in my neighborhood and after going by it a few times it auto locked it out so it doesn’t alert me. It pops up on the radar with the signal and frequency, but the bars are gray instead of blue or red. I can unlock it on the app and it’ll treat it like a radar alert then so it’s cool to see it work
8:29 😆
I don't know why but I thought this was a upgraded Redline 360c but it's Max lol
I thought most newer police radar guns use Ka band (at least they do in my area), so I don’t understand your emphasis on K band detection.
Ka band very popular, sure, but K band is still actively used nationwide.
I had a Redline 360c and had it repaired 3 times in 14 months! On the last repair, they returned it to the wrong address. The repair service is a Fing joke. Soooo it's a hard NOOO on the escort.
how do we know what kind of detectors are used in our area
No idea. Ask people or look at people’s cars to see what radar detectors they’re running on their windshields?
@@VortexRadar sorry I meant police radars but said detectors
Police radar guns? There used to be the RDFGS, but that’s not updated anymore. Again, just ask others in your area. www.rdforum.org/
Is there a firmware update yet?
Does uniden have alerts sharing?
Nope
@@VortexRadar thanks. This feature sounds like a very helpful idea.
Huge pass on this detector. Sticking to my uniden.
yo
I tired 2 uniden r8’s both duds had to go with this one 😤
Graphics display of the unit seems dated compared R7 & R8.
I use to have Escort back early 80s and orig Passport .
I had an original Cincinnati Microwave Escort in the early '80s, as well. They were in a class of their own, back then. I haven't had a detector for years, but I would sure like to buy an Escort again for brand loyalty's sake. Unfortunately, it's looking like a Uniden R8 for me.
@@deedubya286 Uniden makes the best detectors on the market right now. The V1G2 is the only other option I'd even consider if I absolutely had to have a detector that was truly RDD immune.
@@deedubya286 I was in the same situation, I had 20 year old Valentine and bought R7 for a big trip at big box store. Hard wired the unit and installed the remote mute on the steering column. My R7 is just as good as original Escort we had in the 80s.
Was fixing to pull the trigger on mk 2 then watched your video. Guess I'll keep using Waze as my old escort is useless from all the bsm false alerts.
12:34 I guess in this town school bus stop signs are optional
Drivers going the same direction should stop. Drivers going the other direction can keep driving since there’s a turn lane in the middle.
It’s confusing so I had to look it up again at the start of the school year, lol. www.king5.com/article/traffic/traffic-news/washington-state-school-bus-traffic-laws/281-54609ead-3cd4-4bc9-a2c1-15b590d7048e
@@VortexRadar I'm sorry if I implied you are in the wrong. I was talking about the Acura driving on the turn lane. Looks fishy. Thanks for the fantastic reviews, best on youtube!
The live alerts aren’t there because escort should have made that feature free so everyone shares. I stopped running the app because I wasn’t going to pay for live. So my data and I assume others isn’t being shared.
It’s free for everyone. They automatically renew everyone’s subscriptions every year.
Does it say where the cameras and stuff are without defender database
If you're using the detector by itself, it's reliant on the internal updatable GPS database called the Defender Database which you'll always have, but it does need to be updated periodically which is a paid service.
However, if you're running the detector connected to the cloud via Bluetooth or WiFi (which is free), you'll always get the latest Defender Database info regardless of what's in the detector itself and so personally I'd prefer going this route.
@@VortexRadar the same rules apply to both the 360c mk2 and the 360 mk2?
Yep

Meanwhile the uniden r8 in the range department: 😆
Wait what’s the difference tho
So....Uniden R8 wins yet again :) haha Escort just seems to have lost their touch since the original Redline.
It's interesting you include the Cobra Road Scout but omit the DS1 in your 📊 🤔🤨
That test I did when the MaxCam originally came out to see how it compares to other tiers of Escort/Cobra detectors.
@@VortexRadar -- Gotcha. I stand corrected and thank you
It's been said to buy a detector for what it offers today, without any expectation of updates. So taking that into consideration, this product is really disappointing.
SAD!
I just got this radar recently, are these problems still persistent or are most of them fixed?
It’s faster now
@@VortexRadar awesome. Thank you for the fast reply. I’ve been watching your videos for a long time now and pulled the trigger, so thank you for your videos! Keep up the work!
Ah cool, congrats! :)
@@VortexRadarthank you‼️
Got 3 or 4 radar detectors that are pretty much useless now since the cops don't patrol and manage the streets and hiways the way they use to do a couple of years ago. Haven't seen a radar trap in almost 2 years now in a major city and the highways running through it.
Welcome to the often huge gap between the marketing department, accounting department, senior management, and the lowly engineering department that wants to offer a product that actually lives up to its claims. The engineers almost always have little voice in the half baked severe compromise they’re ultimately forced to ship. That’s just the nature of corporate greed these days. Senior management doesn’t understand the issues and are betting only a tiny fraction of their customers will ever see reviews like yours. But please keep calling them out.
Lightning fast if you compare it to a snail! All these manufactures care about is getting them to the consumer than fix any issues later on, how about get it right the first time around? Even with the latest firmware there's still issues responding to instant-on, never mind responding to quick trigger or POP! I like the Escort Max 360c Mk II but will not recommend it until all these issues have been resolved.
It appears escort has completely lost their way, and no longer holds any place in any driving enthusiasts attention.
I'm glad other companies have stepped up (or continued to remain) into this segment.
GPS lock-outs were a big deal, but now they that can't find a reliable solution to deal with a all the new driving-aid falses, they're circling the drain.
It seems Escort has mediocre development with no testing and very limited updates. No more Escort for me.
If no Thea, R8 here I come.
I love your username, lol
wait, you mean Escort released a detector with issues and false promises? I quit spending money on those over priced detectors a long time ago. I don't want to keep blocking off sections of K just to make things quiet. I don't do it with Uniden either. Holding out hope for the mystical Theia. I heard she's dating bigfoot and planning on a big wedding soon.
DS1 is honestly really good for everything but Acura and Honda. Drove with it for a few months in an Audi Q7 with BSM on in my car and never heard a peep from my car or literally anything other than Acura and Honda with nothing modified for spectrum selection disabled. Live in a large metro, top 10 size, and once I had my GPS spots locked it was extremely quiet to where I could look for a Honda/Acura within 500ft and otherwise knew it was a bear
That said, Theia is vaporware and they sold the idea to reputable people to simply get a foothold among the absolute top tier as my DS1 would out perform the V1 gen2 REGULARLY in distance testing
@@j.ballsdeep420 seems to be that way for sure.
@@j.ballsdeep420 I don't block anything but use quiet ride with my R7. We all have them set and use them the way they work best for us. At this point unless my R7 quits working I don't see any reason to spend the money on minimal gains. Appreciate your response
Too bad, I really want to like Escort.
I mean my 360c it’s quite ash
Should make it to send a signal that can short out the swines radar since too many of them are desperate now a days.
The Fed would come crashing down on them if they did that. You can't jam radar per Federal law and they don't mess around with that at all. It's why RMR (Rocky Mountain Radar) detectors can't really jam radar, the FCC would have had them raided and shutdown a long time ago. It's how you know they are full of shit.
This detector has too many issues for me to consider it. A radar detectors first job is to detect police radar signals...all the other features on a detector need to support that goal and Escort fails there as well. Wonky wi-fi, bad apps, etc. Escort should be ashamed of themselves for this nonsense. I don't think Escort detectors should be taken seriously at this point. Not quite RMR levels of ridiculousness but they are getting dangerously close in my mind. Seriously, I think Escort should be removed from any "recommended" status until they can _PROVE_ they actually function as intended. If they need to cut features to achieve that goal then so be it as their current strategy isn't working anyway.
If Spectra can see it then it's not "Max" 🤦♂️
Escort keeps sent out a new device and not testing them before send out and use drivers as a guinea pig this is bull crap

Sadly useless in Australia.
No. This is a HUGE fail! Bin it☝️
Once again Escort releases a beta product. This is absolutely unacceptable. How do you release a $700 radar detector with non working core features? I’m going to pick Uniden R8.
How bout don’t speed? If you don’t speed you ain’t got to worry about it. Some Benefits of not speeding is this.
