Let's not pretend that's not what the Soviets did IRL. Even their small scale (or large scale) encirclements were an extremely primitive form of mobile warfare called "deep battle", invented by purged Tukachevsky... People say Blitzkrieg was based off of it, but it wasn't... it was essentially tanks and human waves attacking and then the tanks were supposed to cause havoc in the rear, once broken through.. when Germany still had some steam left, and the few times Hitler didn't interfere (ie when he visited southern Russia/Manstein, and Soviet tanks came within 30km of where he was, and he ran away by plane and left Manstein alone for ~3 weeks, to do as HE wanted), they always encircled those tanks and crushed them. Only very late in the war did the Russians use combined arms tactics, which is what the Germans were doing, with artillery, infantry, tanks and airforces working in unison. And even then they still had large casualties. So large in fact, that they had a huge spike in desertions just before the Oderbruch offensive (not far from Berlin), even among officers. German - Soviet casualties are very skewed in total, because more Germans died in the last MONTHS of the war, than in the previous 4 years combined, due to a total lack of fuel, equipment, ammunition (ie machine gunners could no longer get brass or copper ammunition, so they were given steel cartridges, which were inferior and had a tendency to pop in the barrel and were very hard to clear even for very experienced gunners) for the infantry, artillery, tanks, etc. And of course sending in batches of ill trained & equipped old men, youths, etc. to fight and die.
