Also in 90th there were a lot more new countries that spoke English better than French not mentioning that overall trend for French as international language in Europe slowly downgraded for decades in late XX century. You'd notice that if you closely looked at Eurovision winners. Most songs winning till mid 70th were French. Then it has been slowly overtook by English peeking in 90th already. And language rule was only abolished for good in 1999. You can't say it didn't play a role, the evidences for continuous French changed by English dominance are too bald.

That unfortunately didn't age well. Austria actually end up second from the end in the grand final. Although I'd say kahleen's we will rave would really deserve a place in the top 10, 5 or 3 or even to win. It had that can lead a Song to succeed in ESC in the recent just like it has happened Cyprus (got 2nd in 2018), Spain (got 3rd in 2022 and I can say that it was the one that actually deserved to win ) and Israel (got 3rd in 2023 . You have to have the jury to balance out any corruption. Sweden only deserves 3 out of their 7 wins. It's a travesty. The last 2 wins are only pushed hardly by the juries. If the don't push also Italy and Russia in. 2015 and Finnland 2023 so much down, the wpuld. Easily had beaten Sweden. Crimean Tatars were allies of Nazis at some point. They were payed and killed hundreds of thousands of people in Europe and especially at the South!
